My 17 yr. old nephew was diagnosed with leukemia (AML) in July. He underwent 5 rounds of chemo and with each round they said he was in remission. Last week they released him from the hospital and said all was well..however today they now tell us his cancer is back in his skin cells. How can this be? We are now looking for a bone marrow match and he will have to undergo two more rounds of chemo. Has anyone ever been through, or know someone who has gone through something similar. Is this what usually happens? I'm wondering if there are other treatments?
