Two nights ago, we worked on Ulduar 25.. We did alright. First area down pretty easy. We had a few issues with IC and then took a few tries for Kologarn. Moving on, we failed against the crazy cat lady for some reason, went back and failed against IC a few more times too.. So, 5 bosses down, which isn’t so bad for a mostly-pug..    After that, I was hanging out when our crew raid leader asked if I wanted to try Sarth10-3D. Sure! We did the “zerg” method and a few tries in got him to 45k.. wiped.. Then a few more and 9k!!!! We thought we had it.. We had it!! Um.. “immune”?  Yeah, ran out of time.. Second dragon was down and it was.. a wipe. Then about 13 or 14 tries in from the beginning, nobody died and we beat the timer (2nd drake) by a mile!  Down went Sarth and Fyra is now of the Nightfall..  We were all very excited. I didn’t get the drake mount (but that’s alright), but it was a lot of fun!

Last night we went back in with our alt-10 run of Ulduar. We had cleared all the fist 2 “wings” and Thorim. So, Hodir was next and we got him down in one try.  It was close thought! Then Freya. She caused us issues for a while. A bunch of wipes later it seemed everyone had a handle on the fight and we got her to Phase 2 (finally) and she went down.. I had brought Fimlys in but nothing really dropped for him. He was doing a little better than it used to be in DPS due to some upgrades I got recently.

So, anyway. That’s what’s been going on.  Tonight? I am not really sure. My Paladin is 71 and moving pretty well. There might be a raid scheduled, but I didn’t see anything in the calendar. I’ll talk to you all tomorrow!

Night Has Fallen

Ok.. I had an idea.. No, this isn’t a Meme… Well, it could be if you really wanted it to be, but there will be no “tagging” (at least by me). Here’s what I’d like to know… What song, when you hear it on the radio or your ipod, etc makes you think about some aspect of World of Warcraft?  Please don’t just give the name of the song but also what and why. Funny stories are always welcome, etc.  Ok.. Now, how do you let me know your answers? Musical Braiiiins Game

Well, somewhat..   Not going to be a very long post because in all reality, I haven’t done all that much different recently.  We ran back into Ulduar 10 last night after reset with the “prime” group.  We mixed it up a little though.. One of the tanks (who is normally on his healer for day 1) came and did OT duty beside our raid leader.  The normal tank for that day wasn’t around. So, tonight for the start of the ALT 10 run, hopefully he’ll show up and then we’ll have the other tank from the alt day work with this tank from the “main” day.. Are you confused? I am and I was there! Soooooo… I did bring Fyra though and we got through the first 2 sections without too much trouble. I was getting very tired near the end there and I think I was sleepdpsing.. “Asleep at the WoW” and all that!

Earlier in the evening I was playing around with my undead warlock on Rexxar. She is level 22 and in Hillsbrad.. Failing quite dramatically to get anything done in Durnholde.  I suck.. I need friends I think.. Ah well..

Same Uld Situation

Two things to talk about. 8 manning Naxx10.. And a really good 25man Ulduar run!

8 Manning Naxx 10

This weekend we were going to continue our alt 10man Ulduar run. Unfortunately, it was July 4th and that made finding people to join us difficult. So, what we did was decided to go try to get the achievement by 8-manning Naxx 10. It took us a while to get started because we kept having to switch out people who ended up being saved already. We were 2 healing/2 tanking the place. We had plenty of DPS and everything else to be successful. We went into Spider wing and took out the first boss easily. Second boss there, we wipe.. We were just burning the adds down and then her given our “uber” dps. But.. What happened?  Turns out that one of the healers thought he was supposed to be DPS. So we really only had 1 healer up until then… (including the 1st boss which we cleared easily!) Anyway, the rest of the night went great and we eventually got the achievement.

25 Man Uduar “PUG”

Each week we try to suppliment our normal 10-man Ulduar raiding group with others and build it up to a 25man run.  In past weeks we’ve been having issues moving forward (not even getting Ignis down). This week everything just clicked. Yes, I died often, but we got bosses down.. We finished the first 2 section of Ulduar which is a LOT farther than I had made it in 25 Ulduar already. Again, no loot for me, but not because it didn’t drop.. I didn’t get loot because my dice suck.

Tonight might just be a quiet night. I don’t think there are any plans right now. I could use a quiet night sometimes..   Later!

8 Ball, Corner Pocket

Last night we did something a little different.. Almost .. “old school”.. Ok, well, if OS could be considered old school..

We went into OS 10 in our semi-pug and tried to do Sarth+3.. In a little different way.. We came in with 8 dps, 1 healer and 1 tank and tried to burn him down.. And we almost succeeded. 9%.. Once of the tries we got him to 9%. After being unable to do that we decided to try 2up and do it more of the normal way.. Well, that didn’t work out so well. So then 1 up.. Yeah, 1 up we could do.  Anyway, I think with just a little more gear from the Ulduar runs we could really do it without too much of a problem (the burning him down thing).

On a side note, I also got “dragged” through a couple of Heroics on my Mage.  I say dragged because I was only doing around 1200dps on the first few, but I got better!  I picked up a few drops including an epic belt from Heroic UP. I dual-specced a while ago and picked up FrostFire.. Still not completely certain what I am doing. I’ll have to spend some time on the web looking for which button to use when.

Tonight I think we might be trying out hand at continuing the Ulduar run from tuesday. We still have Mimiron (sp?) and then General and Yogg.. We haven’t downed any of those, but I think this might be the week ol, “M” goes down!  Have a good weekend and don’t forget the Twisted Nether LIVE Round Table tomorrow (Friday, Jul 4, 2009) afternoon at 3pm Eastern.

Burn ‘em Down

I already talked about Midsummer Fire Festival being underway again. What I didn’t talk about is that over the weekend I ran my level 80 Mage, Fizz, around everywhere doing the keeper quests. I didn’t go out of my way to extinguish many horde flames, but I wanted to at least get all the Alliance ones in Azeroth and Outland. I did so and made about 500 gold or so doing them.  I also bought myself the Spirit of Summer pet.  I’m not that into doing achievements just for the sake of them, nor for the meta achievement (I’m so far behind, why try), so I had an ulterior motive and that was gold and the pet.

The weekend also had it’s share of Raiding, but it wasn’t all that spectacular. I did get Fizz into an instance (Heroic: UP) with a friend. It was a pug run, but they forgave my mage his completely horrible DPS since it was pretty much a cakewalk anyway.  He picked up the caster belt from the end boss in there too, which was nice.

I also decided to run around Azeroth, etc. on my Death Knight to try to get a bunch of experience too.. Was I successful? Well, when I started I was level 58 (almost 59) and I ended just after I got to 60. I’d like to continue on until I run out of ones I can get to easily. Anyway, that is enough I think. More, easy levels.. I’m all for it.

Tonight might be a restart of the 10man since the timer reset is today.. I suppose we’ll have to see…

Mid-Year Review

Two days, two raids, no loot. Tuesday night was our 1/2 guild Ulduar 10 run. We got through FL, Razorscale, Ignis, XT, IC, Kologarn, Thorim, Hodir and Freya that night.. (FL was on 2 towers up others were on “easy” mode)  I think we did pretty well.. But, of course, absolutely nothing dropped for Fyra.  The one thing that was remotely an upgrade for me (and not mail, plate or AP leather) I got outrolled on. Not that I didn’t have fun.  I had a blast. The group is really good and lots of fun, but it is difficult to increase my DPS when I am unable to pick up any upgrades.

Wednesday night we did 25.. Things didn’t go as swimmingly. We don’t have a regular group for the 25.  We didn’t really have much problem with FL, but then again we did easy mode. I died in the first 5 seconds as I was, unfortunately, incorrectly shot up on to the tank.. Well, specifically, they missed… It was nice and relaxing though. Moving on to Razorscale.  This fight went well in general. We pushed REALLY close (like 10 sec) to the enrage timer, but we still got it down. Ignis was our bane of the night. We just couldn’t get him down. Constantly getting to about 35% or so and failing. We even stopped and went to do XT and come back.  In the end though, he was just too much for our group and we gave up vowing to be back on Sunday! Wish us lucK!

Not sure what is going on tonight. I have company in from out of town starting tonight until Sunday, so my play time will be a bit more restricted. Maybe I’ll finally get my mage into some heroics or 10man naxx or something   Later!

Fried (Laser) Chicken

Ah, Midsummer is here. Again a holiday rears it’s head and the servers get all crowded.  Instances can’t be launched because everyone is in Slave Pens trying to kill the seasonal boss. It’s great. I have to say that using the bonfires for extra XP on my non-80’s is a tempting idea. Not sure I want to ride around (or even fly around) all over the place to do it. But I probably will. Besides screwing around with the Festival, I continued to do quests on my Mage (for profit and achievement) and I spent my 1k gold on dual speccing him too. I used a Frost-Fire build as the second spec for now. I bummed it off one of our raiding mages in the guild.

I even pulled out Fimlys on Monday night to join in a 25man Naxx PUG. We did great through the plague wing, but then everything fell apart as we tried to do Military.  I did pick up a much needed ring upgrade off of Noth. Other than that, it’s been pretty quiet. I was away for the weekend for Father’s Day (hope all you dads had a good one) so there was much less WoW playing than usual.

Since we’ve been pretty much playing things by ear recently, I really have no idea what we are doing tonight. So, I suppose you will find out tomorrow (or the next day)..

To Catch a Falling Torch

Two days ago… Well, more like nights.. Um.. On Wednesday night I joined up with a 25-man Naxx run. It was being headed by the usual RL that’s been putting together the recent semi-pugs we’ve been running. A bunch of other guildies were invited too. It was requested that I bring my Priest in to help heal, so Fhuun got the call from to bullpen!

We headed in and, I have to say, the pace was pretty, um, quick.  We did great, the priest tankage on Raz went ok even.  We lost some people along the way (as generally happens with pugs) and sooner or later it turned out we had TOO many healers.. So, I volunteered to switch to my Shadow spec and start DPSing.  Now, I’ll be the first to say that my shadow spec/gear needs some work.. Lots of work.. However, Fhuun became my first toon to ever finish Naxx25.. Who woulda thunk?

Anyway, the next day (last night) was an Ulduar 10 run that seems to be becoming standardized too. Other than some issues with FL (we did 2 towers up) we smashed through the first wing with no troubles and then onto Kologarn and Auriya ( ok.. if I misspelled her I’m sorry, I am just too lazy to look it up every time and my memory, it is not so good ). At that point I had to head out as we were getting ready to interview Veronica Belmont as the Twisted Nether Guest of the Week for the upcoming ep 49.

That’s about it.. Tonight is the continuation of that Ulduar10 run as long as they didn’t complete it last night .. Hope everything is going great and I’ll talk at you tomorrow.

The Full Naxxy

Just a quick update here. First part of last night was spent farming and completing quests in Icecrown on my druid. Second part was running same druid through Both 25 and 10 man VoA. Very quick runs and, unfortunately, no loot for me.. I think I’ll survive though. I did get a bunch of the “first time” achievements since this toon never got a chance to do VoA at all before. (or at least finish it)

Tonight there isn’t anything planned in the guild. I think I am slated to be running something with our semi-pug.. Hopefully all will go well. If we don’t then I might try to get the mage into some heroics again.  Or get his butt dragged through Naxx .. LOL  .. Ok.. I’m outta here.
