In Assembly Extra programme 6:

We take a look back at the Parliament Buildings 80th anniversary Open Day celebrations. This very successful event saw almost 5000 people visit the building to mark the special occasion; and although it’s 80 years old, we look at some recent improvements that make this a very modern building for all. We also go behind the scenes of Question Time – one of the most important ways for the Assembly to hold Ministers to account. We find out why and how it happens.

Coming up in Programme 7 we end 2012 with a look at how the building is prepared for Christmas, we learn all about the important work of the Assembly’s Research and Information Service (RaISe), and much more.

In Assembly Extra programme 5 we cover all the work that’s been happening in Parliament Buildings during the summer months; find out how and why it’s important for Committees to take evidence from stakeholders; and show you a range of ways young people engage with the Assembly.

In our next programme, we’ll bring you all the coverage from the building’s 80th anniversary celebrations. To celebrate this historic occasion, Parliament Buildings will host an open day on 17th November between 11.00-5.00pm.

In programme four we head to the Balmoral Show and outline why it’s so important for Committees and MLAs to meet stakeholders and hear their views; we show you how to find out who your local MLAs are, and how to contact them; and we give you a glimpse into some of the fabulous artwork on display in the Great Hall in Parliament Buildings.
