Just recently Ms. L had a party in her house. One of our dessert is hopia. I brought some for hubby and he likes it very much. I think I have to order it then. In the Philippines it has a filling inside. We can choose beans or pork.

Then one thing that I like Ms. L's dessert is the chicharon. This is yummy too!

Do you have a pet? Do you feel sad if your pet is also sick? I do! My nephew and nieces had a dog-called Abby, they have two bunnies, and they call them Tom and Jerry, lol! They so love their pet when one times it get sick. Abby will not eat as well as Tom and Jerry. My brother asked the family members what might be the reason. They concluded that they might eat something. Off they go to the Veterinarian, the dog and bunnies have given a medicine, and the veterinarian checks them. When I know what happened I told my brother to check PetCareRx to see if it would help him find some of the medicine. Later on that day he texted me telling me he did find the medicine through PetCareRx. What an amazing find he told me because he could not find the med locally. Now he remembers the website and bookmarks it in his computer.

I was browsing the internet and found read this profile Valentine & Kabartas. I was curious I read. I found out that Valentine & Kabartas is a third party collection agency. I thought of myself that is cool. I have not known any collection agency but now I do. I continue to read, I found out that Cheryl Valentine, and Bob Kerbartas found it in 1994. They are involved in bankcard, retail, telecommunications, education, utilities, commercial leasing, and insurance and government sectors. Valentine & Kabartas, Inc. allows clients to achieve collection objectives and earn a higher netback by individually tailoring its services. Reading how this company operates and stick to their goals made me think that founding a business and make it successful is like taking care of a family too. A pink heart tray

The other day I went to Target. I was looking for a tiny tin heart shape but I couldn't find it. What I found is a pink heart shape ice tray. I picked it up and my mind is thinking of what I am going to make for this pink heart shape ice tray. I think I am going to make a red ice heart shape for valentines day.

And then I saw this beautiful tiny little pots I saw in GW a grow kit. In Target it cost $1 each in GW it is only .29 cents what a deal huh! I picked three pots I picked parsley, sweet basil and carpet of snow. When I get home I start to prepare the tiny pot and put the seeds. Hope to see plants sprouting in this tiny pots.

Speeding Ticket

I never like driving. My brother has a car and he told me, since you are going to the USA you had better start learning how to drive, but my brothers car is a stick shift I could not figure out how a person could drive those kind of car. I never try nor learn to drive a car. When I arrived here in the US hubby told me that I should drive and by doing so, he is going to teach me. It is different if your husband is the one who teaches you on how to drive a car because I always end up crying. He enrolled me to a driving school and I did was able to drive. My driving instructor told me to be aware of speed limit anywhere. Therefore, I will not get any speeding ticket because it will also affect the car insurance in case I will accumulate plenty of points. I did remember it all the time not to get a speeding ticket. Besides it is speeding ticket is expensive and I do not want to pay for nothing. Anyhow, I learn that the Best Radar Detector is on the market already. In addition, having the Best Radar Detector on the market will keep anyone who is driving not to get any speeding ticket. I so love to get this kind of radar. Moreover, I think people should have it too, what you think.

Ginisang Talong

Here goes is my ordinary ginisang talong (stir fry eggplant). Somehow I can't find any galungong or tinapa to mix with the eggplant I come up with the canned tuna. Well it turned out really well. I remember growing up this is the easy way to cook for a viand. What's yours?

One of the first things that I notice when I travel all over the country is the sign along the road. Some are huge and fancy, some are simple and some are colorful and with lights. Before I know the name of Signtronix, I ask myself where these companies buy this huge signs or signage. I am impressed that they could make very good graphics some has even lights on them. This morning I was browsing in the internet and happen to read the word Signtronix I get curious. I read the article and thankfully, I had my questions answered. Signtronix is the nation’s manufacturer of business signage for independent business owners. Now I know to who and where to find a great signage just in case one of my friends would someday use signage for their business.

Informal Dinner or Luncheon

Simply start with a basic setting and add to it.

If salad is to be served, the salad fork is placed to the left of the dinner fork. Eliminate the salad fork if no salad is served or place it to the right of the dinner fork to use as a dessert fork if appropriate. (The dessert fork can also be brought to the table when dessert is served.)
If soup is served, set the bowl on the plate and a soup spoon to the right of the beverage spoon.
Salad or bread and butter plates go to the left of the forks. Position butter plates above the forks with the butter spreader placed across the plate.
Cup and saucer go above the spoons with the handle toward the right. Wine or water glasses handle toward the right. Wine or water glasses can be positioned to the left of the coffee cup. source:The Taste of Home Cookbook

Looking For A Lighting Fixtures?

I know some people have an awesome interest over Currey & Company lighting. At first, I do not understand it but when this friend showed me there products, I was in awe. I could not believe the kind of lighting fixtures that I like is a product of Currey & Company. I also now understand why this friend of mind is head over heels in love with it because it is classic and elegant and it is her type of lighting too. As she showed me the different lighting fixtures, I found out that, it is not that expensive. Then she showed me dale tiffany lighting and tiffany lighting fixtures my jaw dropped. I cannot believe it is also very beautiful in design and color. The design is quite different with other lighting that we see in some places. It is unique at the same time it is simple and elegant looking. Remember I nag hubby about our master bedroom. I am sure now what to get for our lighting fixtures. I showed hubby about all these beautiful lighting fixtures he told me I should be the one to pick and not him. In myself, I said yes because I could get what I like no matter what. Bathroom Light Fixtures

I remember when I was in junior high school I took drafting than home economics. My reason at that time is because the teacher of the home economics subject is my Aunt and I do not want to be under her. However, after weeks that I was in the drafting class I like it then. The teacher started to teach us how to draw the layout of the house and distribute the area that room sizes are balanced. I took extra feet for my bathroom design because I like to have a huge master bathroom. My teacher asks me about it and I answer with all honesty and he just say that is good. Anyway, that is my design and my “house”.

Then I came here in the US and found out that we have a good size master bedroom. One thing that I am still complaining until now is our bathroom lighting. For me the light did not distribute the whole room and it was not finished. I know that to have a very good light in the bathroom it has to have the proper bathroom light fixtures. That means there will be light fixtures on the ceiling as well as the sides. It should not be too bright or too dim. I was nagging hubby this afternoon to go to a hardware store. We look for bathroom light fixtures thankfully, I found several that I like. Hubby promised me that this coming spring putting the light fixture is his first project we will see.

You don't have to add stress to your dinner plans, just start with basic table setting to dress up your dinner table and set the mood for your dinner party or gathering.

BASIC SETTING
This is appropriate for most occasions, and you just add to the basic pieces as needed.
1) The dinner plate is positioned in the center of the place setting and everything else is
placed around it.

2) The flatware is arranged around the plate in the order in which it will be used:
* To the left of the plate is the fork.
* To the right of the plate is the knife and spoon. The knife is placed to the right
of the plate with the sharp edge toward the plate. To the right of the knife is the spoon.

3) A water glass goes above the knife.

4) Napkins can be placed under the fork or on the plate for an informal setting.

I like to shop. I like to find good deals and discounts and sales are like a magnet to me. I signed up to my favorite stores just to make sure when they have discounts and sales for there products. Today a friend called me telling me to check out nomorerack.com. I have not heard this website it is my first time to hear it. I immediately looked at it and lo and behold, it is an awesome site. This afternoon I checked out the website and I found out almost all the items is sold already. I told to myself why I have not known this before Christmas. Anyway, it is never too late. Right now I like there handbags and I would get it soon!

Christmas is over and it's time to change the setting and decorations in our home. But I can't get rid off the candles, some hollies and green stuff since it's winter and outside looks dry and white. I love candles and fruits on the table. A very simple tablescape for this week.

Fish Escabeche

Before Christmas I had this Fish escabeche or sweet and sour fish.

First I fry the fish.

Then I saute the onion, garlic and carrots (julienne)

Since I like the carrots to be still crispy I didn't over cooked it. I immediately mix the
packed sauce ( u can see it below) and let it boil. When it boils turn off the heat and put the fish.
Scoop the sauce into the fish so the sauce will go inside the fish meat.

I am using Mama Sita f or sweet and sour sauce

Sushi

I am not into Sushi but hubby does like it. We went to a Fuji Japanese Restaurant and there you can eat all you can sushi. These restaurant is a bit pricey especially in the night time it cost you $20.00 but they also have plenty of food to choose. They have arrays of sushi and one or two sushi caught my attention. I took photos but stopped after two shots because it is not allowed to take photos of there sushi. I was like what makes there sushi different from other Japanese restaurant? For all we know they are all related or friends since they have the same kind of business. Anyway, here is the photo of sushi that the owner didn't want to take a photo. But you can find this kind of sushi in other restaurant too. So for that I rate this restaurant a one star. ^_^

Lutong Pinoy

Hubby and I went to a computer store down south. I told him since we are already in that area where Oriental store are a plenty, I went grocery shopping for (fish, vegetables, meat). After shopping hubby told me he is hungry so I suggested to him we are going to go try the new Lutong Pinoy restaurant just across the Oriental store. Hubby ordered barbeque, and garlic rice, chopsuey, while I order the crispy pata and lumi. Oh boy it was more than what we expect we have plenty of left over to bring home.

FOOD FRIDAY

Corn Chowder

It's very chilly here in Michigan. Our temperature is 21F and so decided to cook corn chowder.

Corn Chowder
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cup water
1 can (14 3/4 ounces) cream-style corn
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
1 cup milk
salt and pepper to taste
dash of parsley ( I used dry)

Procedure:
1) In a sauce pan, saute onion in a butter until tender. Add the water, corn and potatoes, bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 16-20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Reduce heat to low.
2) Stir in the milk, salt and pepper. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until heated through, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle with parsley.

Yield 4 servings. You may substitute water to a chicken broth. But omit salt.
