What a tremendous service! I happened across this website while reading an article and saw a link on the margin of the webpage. Immediately started dropping catalogues! Great Idea!!

I just signed up and entered 2 catalogs I don't need sent to me. It was easy. I'm sure I'll be entering some more. A lot of catalogs come this time of year before Christmas.

So, what does Catalog Choice do?

Catalog Choice (www.catalogchoice.org) is facilitating attempts to unsubscribe. The site was developed by three nonprofit environmental groups — the National Wildlife Federation, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Ecology Center — to relay requests en masse to specific retailers. Since it was introduced last Wednesday, more than 20,000 people have registered.

Retailers have thus far supported efforts to target consumers more effectively, but not legislation to enact do-not-mail lists (which would operate similarly to do-not-call lists). The Direct Marketing Association, a trade group that advocates direct mail as an effective form of retail advertising, offers its own “mail preference service,” although it requires a $1 payment by credit card to register online. Several other sites charge $15 to $41 for services that stop junk mail and catalogs.

Catalog Choice, which does not charge a fee, helps retailers “to maintain a ‘clean’ list so that they are not mailing to people who don’t want their catalogs,” said Kate Sinding, a senior lawyer for the Natural Resources Defense Council.

There have been some surprises: The most requests have come from people who wish to stop receiving the catalogs of L. L. Bean, a company built on an image of embracing the great outdoors.

So, basically, what's behind Oral Roberts scandal ?

First, the facts:

Richard Roberts, Oral Roberts University President, is accused of lavish spending at donors' expense, like:
1) numerous home remodeling projects,
2) use of the university jet for his daughter's senior trip to the Bahamas, and
3) a red Mercedes convertible and a Lexus SUV for his wife, Lindsay.

Richard Roberts' wife, Lindsay Roberts, is accused of:
1) dropping tens of thousands of dollars on clothes,
2) awarding non-academic scholarships to friends of her children and
3) sending scores of text messages on university-issued cellphones to people described in the lawsuit as "underage males."

Oral Roberts University grew to become one of the most successful evangelical empires in the country, hauling in tens of millions of dollars in contributions a year. The university reported nearly $76 million in revenue in 2005.

Oral Roberts, 89, lives in California. He holds the title of chancellor. Richard Roberts presides over day-to-day operations on the campus.

The allegations are contained in a lawsuit filed Tuesday by three former professors. They sued ORU and Roberts, alleging they were wrongfully dismissed after reporting the school's involvement in a local political race.

Richard Roberts, according to the suit, asked a professor in 2005 to use his students and university resources to aid a county commissioner's bid for Tulsa mayor. Such involvement would violate state and federal law because of the university's non-profit status. Up to 50 students are alleged to have worked on the campaign.

The professors also said their dismissals came after they turned over to the board of regents a copy of a report documenting moral and ethical lapses on the part of Roberts and his family. The internal document was prepared by Stephanie Cantese, Richard Roberts' sister-in-law, according to the lawsuit.

An ORU student repairing Cantese's laptop discovered the document and later provided a copy to one of the professors.

It details dozens of alleged instances of misconduct. Here are just some Oral Roberts Scandal facts:

1) A longtime maintenance employee was fired so that an underage male friend of Mrs. Roberts could have his position.

2) Mrs. Roberts was given a white Lexus SUV and a red Mercedes convertible by ministry donors.

3) The university jet was used to take one daughter and several friends on a senior trip to Orlando, and the Bahamas. The $29,411 trip was billed to the ministry as an "evangelistic function of the president."

4) Mrs. Roberts — who is a member of the board of regents and is referred to as ORU's "first lady" on the university's website — frequently had cell-phone bills of more than $800 per month, with hundreds of text messages sent between 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. to "underage males who had been provided phones at university expense."

5) The university and ministry maintain a stable of horses for exclusive use by the Roberts' children.

6) Mrs. Roberts spent more than $39,000 at one Chico's clothing store alone in less than a year, and had other accounts in Texas and California. She also repeatedly said, "As long as I wear it once on TV, we can charge it off." The document cites inconsistencies in clothing purchases and actual usage on TV.

7) University and ministry employees are regularly summoned to the Roberts' home to do the daughters' homework.

8) The Roberts' home has been remodeled 11 times in the past 14 years.

I have to admit what I'm a Halo 3 head, but still there are couple of games that will always take top priority in my book when it comes to fun online play.
It's been Star Wars Battlefront 2 - I'm a Star Wars fan :), and Unreal Tournament, which is, hands down, still the finest form of multiplayer goodness available.

I just bought the Unreal Anthology pack, so I could get the soundtrack and Unreal Gold and the soundtrack just brings back loads of multiplayer memories.

Anyways, Unreal Tournament 3 demo has been unleashed to PC gamers.

Quick facts:
Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is a multiplayer team-based first-person shooter with strategy elements, being developed by Valve Corporation.

A beta for Team Fortress 2 was released on Steam on September 17, 2007, for customers who pre-purchased the Orange Box and those who activated their Black Box coupon.

Demoman

The demoman is a defensive class with 175 hit points. Speaking with an intoxicated Scottish accent, the demoman wears a wooly hat, an eyepatch and a team-coloured bomb disposal outfit. Demomen are armed with a timed detonation grenade launcher, a remote detonation sticky bomb launcher and use a Scotch bottle for melee attacks. The demoman can use these grenade launchers to fire grenades over obstacles and around corners. Sticky bombs can also be used in a defensive role for setting traps and mining routes, although the opposing team can displace them with most weapons. The demoman can only have a maximum of eight active sticky bombs at any one time and placing more sticky bombs with eight already in place will begin detonating previously-deployed bombs in the order they were launched. Demomen can also use their explosives to jump, when timed well this can send the Demoman to great heights but takes a lot of damage. The demoman moves slightly slower than most other classes. [8]

Valve released another video about the Demoman as part of its "meet the class" advertisement series. The Demoman is shown drinking alcohol a lot. He has a somewhat annoyed attitude, noting bitterly that he is a "black, Scottish cyclops" and as a rarity needs to take care of himself. He is shown destroying a turret with a grenade, killing a Pyro by bouncing a grenade off the wall where it lands behind him, and killing many other classes at once by placing many sticky grenades around an entrance, and detonating it when the team walks by.

Confirmed: Austin Scott suspended indefinitely

There were more questions than answers Sunday over senior tailback Austin Scott's departure from the Penn State football team.

Austin Scott, who arrived at Penn State under the microscope of heavy expectations after a record-setting high school career at Parkland High School, did not dress or play during Saturday's 27-7 win over Iowa in Beaver Stadium. Senior Rodney Kinlaw and redshirt freshman Evan Royster combined for 254 yards and two touchdowns in his place.

Coach Joe Paterno said after the game that Austin Scott had been suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Published reports have said Scott's locker has been cleaned out, and several message boards and blogs on the Internet are awash in speculation and hearsay.

On Sunday, athletic department spokesman Jeff Nelson said there was nothing new from Paterno regarding Scott's status.

The coach will have his weekly press conference on Tuesday, where the question is sure to come up.

Scott arrived on campus with fanfare after rushing for 3,853 yards and 53 touchdowns as a senior in high school.

But he hasn't become the dominant force fans envisioned.

In his career, Austin Scott has run for 1,323 yards and 17 touchdowns on 290 carries. His highlight came in the Lions' Orange Bowl in January 2006, when he rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Austin Scott came into this year as the starter. But Austin Scott drew the ire of fans after early-season fumbling problems, while running for 302 yards and six touchdowns on 69 carries.

Austin Scott is the third player to run into problems this season.

Tight end Andrew Quarless and cornerback Willie Harriott were held out of two games after being cited for underage drinking.

Just have read this: "Can you imagine the outcry by Red Sox fans if the same scenario played out in the Angels' ball park? Or worse, Yankee Stadium! The ball was out of the field of play, but fielders should be given the opportunity to make a play. If Danny wants a ball, I'm sure his daddy could have provided one."

Oh yeah? Mr. Linscott, Stephen King who is a huge Red Sox fan, but who also has great respect for the game of baseball seemed to be okay with what the kid did. Maybe you are just a little bit jealous of Danny Vinik's daddy's $500 million dollars. You are a really nice guy. But maybe you need to spend a little bit more time at home relaxing and a little less time with those rich old farts over at the Foxborough Country Club. Life is too short. Enjoy it!

So, what's the story?

Every member of the Red Sox family contributed last night.

Danny Vinik, the 17-year-old son of Red Sox limited partner Jeffrey Vinik, entered franchise lore last night thanks to a well-timed grab of a Manny Ramirez foul ball.

With one out and runners on first and third in the fifth inning, Ramirez hit a pop foul that drifted toward the seats near the Red Sox on-deck circle. As catcher Jeff Mathis leaned over the row of seats in Box 37, Vinik reached up with both hands and plucked the ball away before it fell into the Angel’s mitt.

The grab kept Ramirez’s at-bat alive, ultimately resulting in a walk and subsequent game-tying sacrifice fly by Mike Lowell.

While an irate Mathis stormed back to the field, Vinik was congratulated by the fans around him and then began to take what he estimated as 15-to-20 congratulatory calls.

“I saw he just missed it, though I still can’t believe it,” said the high school second baseman, who was cheered while talking underneath the stands. “I still can’t remember that well. I just reached over and tried to make the play. I just kept the ball. I really don’t remember.”

While Vinik talked to the media after the grab, well-wishers took pictures, called him the true president of Red Sox Nation, and labeled him the “Anti-Bartman,” referring to Steve Bartman, the infamous Cubs fan who interfered with Chicago’s Moises Alou’s attempt at a foul ball during the 2003 playoffs at Wrigley Field.

One Fenway patron, when walking by the somewhat overwhelmed teenager, said, “Who’s that? (Clay) Buchholz?”

Vinik said he had never caught a foul ball before, despite the proximity of his father’s season tickets.

“It’s in a box,” he said, wearing a white T-shirt and blue Red Sox baseball cap. “I don’t know if it’s that historic.”

Garth Brooks is doing a one-time concert on November 14th at the brand new Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Ticket scalping has become a sophisticated industry and the Brooks concert organizers, along with the City of Kansas City, are trying to find some equitable means of selling tickets.

The tickets go on sale today at 10:00 AM. In a nutshell - here is what the promoters are doing. Ticketmaster outlets in Missouri and Kansas, about 40 outlets, have been ’selling’ wristbands. Here is where there is some confusion. Some are saying the wristbands cost $30, non refundable. The wristband only insures you a place in line to buy the real concert ticket. The wristbands are numbered and there will be a lottery of sorts to determine where the wristband holder gets to stand in line. Tickets for the concert are $31 - that is probably the best bargain of the decade. You gotta admire Garth Brooks. We should also admire the promoters who are trying to find a process that does not exclude Joe Public.

The State of Missery has just passed a law that makes ‘ticket scalping’ legal. Missouri is run by moral majority Republicans - what are they thinking? There is something wrong with capitalism and taxes when we, as a civilized society, have to sanction casino gambling, convenient store lotteries, and ticket scalping.

And there are more tickets scandals - this time it's Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus vs. Garth Brooks Tickets

The Hannah Montana ticket scandal has hit epic proportions for Miley Cyrus. Government officials are now involved, parents of kids are furious and astronomical prices for tickets to her concerts are being asked for by brokers, scalpers and individuals alike. Garth Brooks was as huge as Miley long before she ever even came into the world. The Garth Brooks tickets are being handled in a much better fashion.

Brooks was a star of astronomical proportions even when Miley's dad Billy Ray Cyrus was singing "Achy Breaky Heart" and making his splash on the country scene. Now things have changed so much when it comes to music and live concerts. It's all about the Internet and that means it is all about ripping off fans.

The fans get absolutely screwed. With the Hannah Montana tickets fans were asked to shell out thirty bucks to join the Hannah Montana fan club to get the first shot at tickets, but that didn't really work for most parents. Many believe that ticket brokers and other shelled out the thirty bucks for the club and dashed in front of their kids for the tickets. When the tickets went on sale, the scalpers used their full force to buy the tickets and the common fan was shut out. On eBay tickets are as high as three grand right now to see a fourteen year old. When the general tickets went on sale they were lapped up in as little as four minutes.

Parents didn't stand a chance. Legitimate ticket brokers and scalpers got tickets, though and they will sell them at a premium price. Brooks tried a different plan for his show in Kansas City. “Garth is adamant that tickets be made available to his fans,” said Shani Tate Ross. The Kansas City Star reports the idea was to allow local fans to have to show up and get their tickets. That could cut down on the controversy that followed the sale of tickets to the upcoming Hannah Montana concerts in that city. Promoters for the Brooks show have set aside a certain number of tickets that can only be sold at the outlets where people line up. They hope this will level the playing field a little bit more.

The Hannah Montana scandal was handled about as poorly as any in recent memory. Someone in her camp needs to take a look at how the tickets are distributed. There really can be no more "Hannah Montanan Fan Club" preference and tickets need to be limited to a low number (perhaps even two) and the majority of the tickets need to be available to people in each city where they must be picked up personally and with a local ID or drivers license.

A whole bunch of tickets need to also be available only to be purchased in person at the box office where people line up and get wristbands to get in a lottery to get the tickets. This will give local fans an even better chance at the tickets.

In 2004, Danny Woodhead began attending Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska. Danny Woodhead quickly amassed many rushing yards and broke many records. In 2006, through 12 games, Danny Woodhead had rushed for 2,740 yards, a new all-division single season rushing record,[1] surpassing Kavin Gaillaird. Danny Woodhead's rushing yards for 2006 were 2,756. Danny Woodhead also led his team to the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2006, losing to Northwest Missouri State University.

Danny Woodhead was a Harlon Hill Trophy candidate in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Danny Woodhead won the trophy in 2006.

There is some discussion among Nebraskans as to whether or not Woodhead was recruited by the University of Nebraska. When interviewed, Woodhead stated that Nebraska never showed much interest in him and that he wanted to go somewhere where he was wanted. Вот и завершился Российский отборочный этап World Cyber Games. Игры были захватывающими и интересными...особенно если учесть то, что мне все таки удалось пройти в игровую зону и наблюдать многие игры от первого лица. А вот результаты меня несколько удивили. Среди варкрафтеров квоту на Грандфинал WCG в Сиэтл взяли Xyligan (1 место) и Swift (2 место). Третье место занял Titan. Ну что ж. Свифт приятно удивил. Будем надеяться, что он ещё покажет им всем на Грандфинале)
Среди КСеров 1 место и квоту взяли игроки команды KPOBb (Virtus.pro). Очень обидно за команду Begrip. Я, как и в прошлом году, болела за них. Но, к сожалению, только 2 место. Ничего, думаю в следующем году они себя покажут. Команда ещё молодая, у них все впереди. В борьбе за 1 место Begrip показали отличную игру и шли наравне с командой KPOBb. Очень захватывающем было то, что каждая команда брала раунд по очереди. После счета 10-10 Begrip вырвались вперед и...я думала победа близка, но ребята расслабились и сдали позиции. Очень, очень обидно. Вторая игра завершилась со счетом 12:16.
Теперь остается только ждать Грандфинала и болеть за наших)

Ануннах - бог пофигизма. Ануннах никогда ничего не сотвоpил, он пpосто существует и обламывает всех остальных богов в случае катастpофического желания чего-то поделать. Ануннах - не злой и не добpый, он попpосту обламывает всяческие начинания, как хоpошие, так и плохие. Ходят слухи, что он когда-то сдуpу женился на богине Пакуpимке, но pазвестись как-то забыл. Живут ли они вместе - неизвестно.Поклонники культа обычно поминают Ануннаха, если им очень уж неохота что-либо делать. Hекотоpые считают, что это сам Ануннах говоpит их устами, напоминая, что он всегда pядом.

Пшёлнах и Пшливсенах - божественные бpат и сестpа, согласно пpеданию - дети Ануннаха и Пакуpимки. Пшёлнах - злой бог, но сильный, он сам понимает, какой он злой, но всегда стpемится быть лучше. Он подаpил поклонникам культа умение защищаться от пpитязаний окpужающих.
Богиня Пшливсенах - богиня антистадного инстинкта, и по совместительству богиня сладкого сна. Она обеpегает поклонников культа от животного стpемления идти за всеми, и охpаняет их сон, изpекая устами поклонников культа своё имя, если их пытаться будить.

Пакуpимка - невесть откель взявшееся существо. Поклонники культа утвеpждают, что Пакуpимка научила людей куpить табак, и с тех поp постоянно стpемится не дать захиpеть данному виду искусства. Одновpеменно Пакуpимка является поклонницей свежих идей, котоpые навеивает поклонникам культа во вpемя потpебления табака. Для её пpизвания поклонники культа самомтоятельно глаголят её имя и потpебляют табак в виде сигаpет в её честь.

Отскукимpу - одна из великих богинь пантеона. Веpная соpатница Анунаха в боpьбе пpотив Главдемона Заpаботуса. Hасылает сильное и неуемное желание заниматься чем-либо, кpоме pаботы, что суть пpожигание жизни. Весьма симпатична и кpутит любовь с большинством высших существ. Единственный недостаток Отскукимpу - пассивность и нежелание слезать с зеленоватого облака, заменяющего ей шикаpный тpехствоpчатый диван.

Ёптыть - pучной звеpёк Ануннаха. Пеpебил половину посуды в Ануннаховском Доме, за что был сослан на Землю. Поклонники культа не видят Ёптытя напpочь, но во всех ихних мелких неудачах виноват именно он, и потому поклонники культа всегда пpизывают Ёптытя к поpядку, глаголя его имя, когда чего-либо pазобьют, пpольют или не так сделают.

Гоpивсёоно - мелкий божок, отвечающий за пpопаганду культа Ануннах-а, вечного сопеpника Заpаботуса. Игpает на мелких людских эмоциях, дpужен с Отскукимpу. Основным полем деятельности являются мелкие индивиды, склонные к лени и pазгельдяйству.

Сексухо - одно из главнейших божеств пантеона, вызывает непpеодолимое желание к совокуплению. Отвечает за pазмеp популяции и межвидовые скpещивания. Любит шалить и насылать моpоки - Ебмать, Зоофула и Упpавдомабы.

Един в двух ликах - Бабубы и Мужикамне.

Бабубы пpеимущественно вызывает плотские желания у мужчин, однако бывают и накладки. Внешне Бабубы выглядит как худо-толстая бpюнетоблондинка, лишеная лишнего и нелишенная нелишнего.

Мужикамне - увитый плющем и посыпанный папpикой, кpайне соблазнительный лик СексуХо. Пpедставляет Алексеем и плодит слухи о своей ненасытности. Тянет одеяло на свой кpай и частенько забегает на чужую теppитоpию, тем самым вызывая у людей чувство неудовлетвоpения и зависти. Глуп, но неутомим.

Уже много лет ежегодно в праздник Успения происходит нечто необычное невдалеке от деревни Маркопуло, в небольшой церквушке в честь Успения Пресвятой Богородицы. С Преображения внутри и снаружи храма появляются змеи. Местные жители называют их змеями Пресвятой Богородицы.

С каждым днем количество змей возрастает, и накануне Успения они заполняют всю округу. В эти дни жители Маркопуло ходят по оврагу, на склоне которого находится церковь, и собирают змей, чтобы принести их Пресвятой Богородице. Откуда змеи появляются и куда исчезают после праздника, никто не знает. Для всех это поныне остается великой тайной.

Во время всенощной змеи свободно ползают среди людей - по стасидиям, аналоям, никого не пугаясь. - Если змея залезет вам за пазуху, - предупреждают деревенские жители паломников или туристов, - вы не бойтесь! Благодатью Пресвятой Владычицы Богородицы змеи никакого вреда вам не причинят. Возьмите их в руки, и они, словно котята, будут лизать ваши пальцы.

Действительно, за службой происходят невероятные вещи: змеи, как браслеты, обвивают руки верующих людей, ползают по иконе Пресвятой Богородицы и Распятию, по приготовленным для литии хлебам. Змея может даже заползти на Евангелие, которое читают на Литургии. Змеи, как представители животного царства, празднуют вместе с христианами, напоминая им о райском саде, в котором первозданные люди жили с животными единой семьей. По окончании праздника уходят и змеи.

Немецкие ученые исследовали этих змей, но ни к какому из известных видов не смогли их отнести. Они серого цвета, тонкие. В длину они не превышают одного метра, кожа у них бархатная. На голове у них изображен крест, как и на кончике языка.

Если в какой-нибудь из годов змеи не появлялись, это всегда было плохим предзнаменованием. Так было в 1940 и 1953 годах, когда на острове произошли сильные землетрясения.

Начало 125-го сезона в Рижском русском театре имени Михаила Чехова будет насыщенным и богатым событиями: в течение месяца зрителей ожидают три премьеры.

29 сентября сезон откроет музыкально-драматическая фантазия по мотивам "Одесских рассказов" И. Бабеля "Рыжий король". Новый проект Маэстро Раймонда Паулса нельзя назвать мюзиклом только потому, что это все-таки не связанные одной сюжетной идеей музыкальные номера, а музыкальный спектакль.

В отличие от прежних инсценировок рассказов Бабеля, в большинстве своем решенных в ироническом ключе по отношению к персонажам, концепция постановки отдает предпочтение лиризму, проникновенности и доброму юмору, избегая иронии и сарказма. Подруга пишет - созвучно...

Сначала у меня был журнал для всех. Потом был перерыв, после которого я ушла под замок, где нахожусь и по сей день.
Пишу про жизнь свою аргентосовскую, про кота, мужа и всякие разности.
Это не путеводитель по стране, а просто дневничок. Так, побаловаться. Впрочем, отчеты о поездках и фотографии присутствуют.
Понятие о дружбе у меня своё, так что френдов немного, но они отборные. Я читаю всех, стараюсь комментировать. Пишу иногда много, иногда мало, по настроению.
И еще. Почти бесполезно надеяться, что я зафренжу того, кого знаю в оффлайне. Ну вот такой у меня бзик. Имею право.

Вот сейчас услышал, что юный поклонник "Фабрики звезд" чуть не разорил семью.

Семилетний мальчик украл у отца зарплату
Зачем? ну так сразу не догадаешься...чтобы проголосовать по телефону за одну из участниц "Фабрики звезд"!

Джамаль Тарика решил проголосовать по телефону за понравившуюся ему участницу музыкального шоу "Фабрика звезд" - для этого юный "меломан" не нашел лучшего способа, чем украсть всю зарплату отца (около $500) , на которую, как сообщает агентство, жила вся большая семья Джамаля.

На все деньги мальчик купил в ближайшем салоне сотовой связи карты экпресс-оплаты для мобильных телефонов. Он раздавал карты бесплатно молодым жителям своего района при единственном условии, что те будут звонить и голосовать за его кумира.

Затея юного поклонника "Фабрики звезд", к счастью для его семьи, довольно быстро раскрылась. Отцу мальчика удалось вернуть половину заработанных денег. Воришку примерно наказали, запретив отныне смотреть "недетские передачи".

Няяя....девчонки (Симка и Акито) приффли в косплее, ми их сначало даже не увнали) СуГоЙнО) Mello & Near) И Рицка, нэка)))

Потом....приффли есчо ребятки) Нарутовцы) На другие фонтаны (дальние)^^
Конечно....наши мальчики совсем чуть-чуть оппоздали.......(все понимают о чём ми)...но ми были очень рады их видеть)))) И ми не собираемся уходить!!!))) + классно играете на гитаре) И забавно)))
