It has been so long since I posted here it took ten attempts to remember what my log-in is.

It is "cake day" at work and I am about to suffer a sugar rush that I will regret within minutes!

Then and Now

President Bush does not allow himself the luxury of sitting around talking about how he would have done things differently if he knew then what he knows now. It’s not leadership when you change “past” positions based on subsequent events or opinion polls and then try to rewrite history. Hillary supported the removal of Saddam in the strongest terms in 2002 and listed off the various reasons for doing so.. most of which had nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction. She did so in even stronger more direct language than she does in these clips. But now she wants to say Bush failed as a leader by acting on the same information she had when she supported the use of force against Saddam. The same goes for Edwards and Kerry. These people are who the Democrats think should be running the country?

These political opportunists can’t say they voted to oust Saddam based on the intel at the time, which in retrospect may have not been totally accurate, because the same would apply to the President. For political reasons they have to pretend they either never said what they said, or claim he personally misled them. They are not fit to lead this nation.

What Alternative Plans Do They Offer?

President Bush has made mistakes, as any wartime leader has, and he is not unique in having to fight a war on two fronts. Unfortunately one of those fronts is at home against his political opposition.

How refreshing it would be if the debate in the Congress was over who’s plan for Iraq is best, or which competing plan to deal with jihadists announced plans to destroy us. Instead, what we have are most Democrats and some Republicans working hard to beat down the President’s plans while offering no alternative. They simply disagree with his plans for confronting the enemy so they are working feverishly to see that he fails. I’d be happy to listen to it, but I’ve not heard one forward thinking pro-active alternative plan from any of them.

Barak Obama did site and urgent need to develop a plan, but that was a call for a plan to restrain the President, not for a plan to fight our sworn enemies.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are introducing measures to prevent the USA from taking military action against Iran without Congressional approval. Of course even if the President gets approval, they reserve the right to later deny they approved and then go to war against him, just as they have done in Iraq.

President Bush is trying to do the difficult job of confronting terrorists and keeping the homeland safe, while helping establish a large democratic America friendly country in the heart of the middle-east and all Congress, the press and half of America can do is assault him at every turn.

Our enemies must be having a good laugh.

Pres. Bush: Don't Play Nice

I think our enemies should be having some sleepless nights about now. Bush is a lame duck President with two years left and he has little motivation to “play nice” with them. As he is painted into a corner by his enemies abroad and in Congress, so he may have the courage to do what needs to be done… seriously kick some ass.

We need to make it real clear to the Iraqi government that they have to get serious or we will do what has to be done on our own. We need to let our military rout out the militias in and around Baghdad. We also need to go after Iranian and Syrian elements working in Iraq. Bush technically does not need the approval of Congress to take this bull by the horns and get down to business, so he may step up the pace.

Political and global motivations have kept the Israelis and America in check, but the stakes are up and the pressure is on to set aside any concerns other than destruction of the enemy. Like a short-stacked poker player, he needs to just get aggressive.

On My Mind

We are not fighting Iraqis. We are trying to help the newly formed government deal with local thugs and foreign forces set upon destroying any progress toward a free, America-friendly nation.

The Iraqi people, and Arabs in general, have a long history of being ruled by whatever strong man takes power and the idea of self-government will be slow to take hold.

Islam and the cultural heritage of this area promote vast social inequity and allow for a brutal disregard for individual rights. If Arabs, Persians and other Islamists around the world do not shift their thinking on individual rights, democracy will never work for them. If they cannot learn to tolerate differences of opinion or belief, the majority, or what ever thug is in power, will always be able to abuse the minority. The only reason a free, democratic society has worked here in America is because we honor a Bill of Rights that protects the minority or those out of power.

Ted Kennedy’s idea of running any war by committee is crazy. The Commander in Chief has to be able to direct the activities of our forces without endless debate with Congress. Congress is inefficient, wasteful, slow to act and too subject to the winds of political opportunity to be given authority to directly inhibit the President’s authority in wartime. The President may be a good Commander or a bad one, but there is no practical alternative when it comes to authority over the military.

It is arguable that all politicians are duplicitous self-serving pricks, but some are worse than others. Now that the real assholes are a majority in the House and Senate, the Speaker elect addresses corruption by trying to put corrupt people like Murtha and Hastings in key positions (thankfully Pelosi failed in both cases). The 9-11 Commission recommendations they were going to implement… not so much. Worse, they will now block all progress with regard to appointments by the lowest tactic possible… the filibuster. The loss of Bolton at the UN is the first such defeat for America under the Democrat majority. Trust me, they will not only argue against good people filling positions... they will block most, if not all, from even getting a vote on the floor. - AS

While Iran gives every indication that it has hostile intentions toward Israel and the USA, and that it desires to establish a Caliphate to rule the middle-east and eventually the world, we merely threaten "economic sanctions" and spend our time arguing about how nice we should treat prisoners and the legality of listening to enemy suspect's phone calls. We know Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism and there is little doubt they are developing much more than nuclear power stations. Their leader is one of the "twelvers" who has announced he has been anointed by Allah to bring about the return of the 12th Imam. Of course, everyone who's paying attention is aware that what is to precede the return of the 12th Imam is massive world war which results in something like one-third of the Earth's population being killed off. Ahmadinejad's already indicated that large scale destruction and death in Iran is no problem, as long as they wipe Israel out in the process.

With all this in front of us, the world debates it's options and waits to see what will happen next. It was only some 70 nears ago that the same obvious intentions were apparent in Nazi Germany and the world sat around and debated what to do till it was too late to avoid WW2. The world paid with some 15 million lives for not having the guts to kill a few thousand Germans and crush Hitler before 1940. Here we go again.

Many of those advocating withdrawal have been "war-weary" ever since the midafternoon of Sept. 11, 2001, when it was discovered that the source of jihadist violence was U.S. foreign policy—a mentality now reinforced by the recent National Intelligence Estimate circulated by our emasculated, demoralized, and incompetent intelligence services. To this way of thinking, victory is impossible by definition, because any response other than restraint is bound to inflame the militancy of the other side. (Nobody ever asks what would happen if the jihadists had to start worrying about the level of casualties they were enduring, or the credit they were losing by their tactics, or the number of enemies they were making among civilized people who were prepared to take up arms to stop them. Our own masochism makes this contingency an unlikely one in any case.)

I am glad that all previous demands for withdrawal or disengagement from Iraq were unheeded, because otherwise we would not be able to celebrate the arrest and trial of Saddam Hussein; the removal from the planet of his two sadistic kids and putative successors; the certified disarmament of a former WMD- and gangster-sponsoring rogue state; the recuperation of the marshes and their ecology and society; the introduction of a convertible currency; the autonomy of Iraqi Kurdistan (currently advertising for investors and tourists on American television); the killing of al-Qaida's most dangerous and wicked leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and many of his associates; the opening of dozens of newspapers and radio and TV stations; the holding of elections for an assembly and to approve a constitution; and the introduction of the idea of federal democracy as the only solution for Iraq short of outright partition and/or civil war. If this cause is now to be considered defeated, by the sheer staggering persistence in murder and sabotage of the clerico-fascist forces and the sectarian militias, then it will always count as a noble one.

What Schools Teach About American History

Do your college kids know more about Rigoberta Menchu than Patrick Henry? Have they read more Marx and Engels than Locke and Hume? Are they asked to share stories of phallo-logo-centric abuse in required courses, but can’t explain the Bill of Rights? Is their idea of “democracy” populist rebellions and land reforms, or based on the Constitution and private property?

Of course, one could argue that Civics 101 is the responsibility of our ailing public school system. Students should enter college well-armed, and have their understanding augmented by higher education. If they’re arriving as civic ignoramuses and leaving even worse off, then pragmatics must surely confront high school administrators — just as they would if kids arrived never having read Shakespeare nor learned the Pythagorean Theorem.

Students who are poorly armed with civic understanding become either apathetic rubes or victims of the latest idealist fancies. Politicians with vacuous promises or black-robed activists will come along and subvert Constitutional protections our collegiate generation never even knew they had.

In five years, students-turned-money-making professionals benefitting from our market economy will nevertheless fall for fantastic claims about government manipulation of gas prices by the president because they’ve never had to draw a demand curve. Millions will line up behind partisans fighting over territory that belongs to neither, such as private rights to property. If today’s college students don’t know that life, liberty and property are fundamental to our national identity, won’t these be up for grabs too?

Within a short time, the mainstream media were able to dismember and destroy the Nixon Administration, using as their sword the Watergate affair. In the congressional elections of 1974, Republican candidates were pounded, losing 48 House seats and five Senate seats.

Until the 1990s, the so-called “Watergate Babies” (i.e. left-wing Democrats) ruled Congress. As its first act after the 1974 election, the new Congress cut off all aid to South Vietnam. Within a short period of time, this led to Communist conquest of all of Indochina, the massacre of at least 4 million of our friends in the killing fields of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, and the displacement of millions of “boat people.”

In 1976, the left wing captured the White House with the worst President of modern times—Jimmy Carter. By 1979, the U.S. economy was in shambles with 12% inflation, 11% unemployment, and vast deficits. Our military was reduced to a shadow. With even our embassy officials held hostage in Tehran, the United States became a powerless joke to the world. "

If the American people allow fools like Pelosi, Kennedy and Rangel to get control of our government at a time like this we are such trouble.

It is so clear they offer no "better" alternative plans regarding any major issues and that they are simply counting on conservatives to stay home on election day. They are also counting on their base to be too stupid to realize that they are lying about virtually every issue and using the major media to spread their lies.

i.e., Kerry and Carter say the NK nuke is all Bush's fault. They are sure Democrats are too stupid to remember a few years back when it was discovered that NK was cheating on the sacred 1994 agreement from day-one. They can pretend that Iran and NK were happy to stay in the shadows and play nice until that wicked Bush called them "evil". Bush knew what they were up to and called them out, where the Democrats would keep their heads in the sand until the nukes hit us.

Watch Rangel put his dumb-ass on display with Bill O. Can we afford to put in charge these people who want to treat each terrorist like a an American citizen who has committed a crime? They actually want to send each one to a civilian court for an open trial. Our legal system can't even convict OJ! They are clueless to what we are facing in the world.

Every single thing they have said they will do if they get control will be deadly to our war efforts and our economy. The DOW is up to record highs, the deficit is down 50%, unemployment is low, government revenues are sky rocketing... the Dems plan: raise taxes.

We have endless video of major Democrats publicly saying the same things President Bush said before we went into Iraq... the Dems plan: impeach Bush for lying when he said those things. These are the only kind of specifics they have mentioned so far and their foolish, near blind base is ready to put them in charge.

...in 2003, Abdurahman Alamoudi was jailed for attempting to launder money from a Libyan terror-front "charity" into Syria via London.

Who's Abdurahman Alamoudi? He's the guy who until 1998 certified Muslim chaplains for the United States military, under the aegis of his Saudi-funded American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council. In 1993, at an American military base, at a ceremony to install the first imam in the nation's armed forces, it was Mr. Alamoudi who presented him with his new insignia of a silver crescent star.

He's also the fellow who helped devise the three-week Islamic awareness course in California public schools, in the course of which students adopt Muslim names, wear Islamic garb, give up candy and TV for Ramadan, memorize suras from the Koran, learn that "jihad" means "internal personal struggle," profess the Muslim faith, and recite prayers that begin "In the name of Allah," etc.

OH, and, aside from his sterling efforts on behalf of multicultural education, Alamoudi was also an adviser on Islamic matters to Hillary Clinton.

And it turns out he's a bagman for terrorists.

Infiltration-wise, I would say that's pretty good.

The French have opted to do nothing to enforce the UN SC Resolution in Lebanon, but they have suddenly developed a back bone with regard to standing up to Israel. Disarming Hezbollah or blocking arms shipments from Syria, which the resolution demands, is not something they are willing to do.

"Commanders of the French contingent of the United Nations force in Lebanon have warned that they might have to open fire if Israel Air Force warplanes continue their overflights in Lebanon, Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday.

Peretz said that nevertheless, Israel would continue to patrol the skies over Lebanon as long as United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 remained unfulfilled, adding that such operations were critical for the country's security, especially as the abducted IDF soldiers remain in Hezbollah custody and the transfer of arms continue.

Over the past few days, Peretz said, Israel had gathered clear evidence that Syria was transferring arms and ammunition to Lebanon, meaning that the embargo imposed by UN Resolution 1701 was not being completely enforced."

Like America, Israel needs to rediscover the definition of victory and muster the will to win before it is too late to fight back effectively. We are standing by while the enemy trains troops, stocks weapons and makes plans for war. Negotiation will not work with these people and it is way past time for us to wake up to that reality. Idiot leftist Ted Turner summed up our weakness last week by saying that we can stop Muslim extremist terrorism simply by being friends with them.

It is hard to believe that the greatest social experiment in history has fallen on such hard times as these. Whatever our faults, whatever wrongs have been done, whatever mistakes have been made, America is clearly the greatest provider of personal opportunity, individual freedom and collective prosperity on Earth. It seems a large number of Americans do not appreciate this fact. Nor do they realize that the demise of The U.S. would cause the loss of the freedoms that we all hold dear.

Some of those who benefit most from living in the USA have taken dangerously self-defeating positions. Does Rosie O'Donnell not understand that while conservative Christians are merely opposed to gay marriage, the radical Islamists would have us torture and kill gays and lesbians on sight, as they do currently in their own countries. She benefits daily from the freedoms and the right to debate differences of opinion afforded by the American system, which is based very directly on Christian principles of justice and fairness. She may well disagree with Christians on what rights gays should have, but what manner of lunacy causes her to claim Christians are just as much a threat as radical Muslims. One also has to question the sanity of her audience who howl their approval of such nonsense.

In the past, Americans have been able to set aside political and social differences to fight together for the common good. When the fight was over, we'd then get back to debating among ourselves, trying to mould and shape an even better country and future for all. Sadly, in this current conflict there are a great many Americans who cannot see the current external threat for what it is and set aside their partisan interests. Therefore, they themselves present another kind of threat from within. If we can't at least present a unified opposition to the enemy then they are given greater hope that they can conquer us.

The radicalized Islamists have announced their intention to take over the world. They indiscriminately murder men, women and children daily all around the globe, they cut the heads off soldiers, reporters and social workers, and seek to force their specific vision of Islamic law on all people everywhere. What do we do in the face of this? At GitMo we have soldiers cutting the American flags off water bottle labels because the inmates might be offended by them, we play the National Anthem at a lower volume because they complained, we offer colonoscopies to inmates over 50 years of age because we are concerned about their health, we have Senators and members of Congress demanding these prisoners of war get full Habeas Corpus rights as though they were criminals in the American justice system. Those same fools are blocking the appointment of a capable, no nonsense guy like John Bolton to his post at the U.N. We have a hostile press who prints selected national security secrets leaked to them by their friends in government who support the opposition party. We have an opposition party who will not support the President on any effort, or give him credit for any good deed done.

Forget the low inflation, increased productivity, growing federal revenues, low unemployment and a robust economy. The left won't even talk about it, except to say they'll stop it all with increased taxes if they get into power. And the only war plans they have offered are for the war against Republicans and President Bush. If gas prices go up, it is Bush's fault. If gas prices go down it is not news, and if it is news it is only to report some stupid theory about his manipulating prices to get votes. If we are not attacked, they claim it is not due to any efforts by the President and his team. If we are attacked, they will claim he is fully responsible because it happened on his watch. We can already see that in those who are willing to white-wash eight years of attacks and lack of serious response during the 1990s, while claming Bush didn't do enough to get Bin Laden in the eight months before 9/11. The really far-out loony fringe even courts theories that our own government planned and executed the 9/11 attacks, despite those idiotic theories being disproven by a variety of investigators. An this theory offers no answer for the fact that Bin Laden and his friends claim credit for those attacks and have even provided video of the hijackers in his camp explaining why they are going to do it. This crack-pot thinking even extends to some elected officials! This is how waste our time and energy.

We are not so much in trouble because of the external threat. That we could handle if we could at least unite under the flag and confront them. It is the internal threat of petty differences that prevent us from working together to confront our sworn enemies. The President has taken the fight to the enemy directly. His ambitions to establish a free democratic country in the Islamist world may or may not succeed, but he has good intentions. I wish more of us could give the man credit for his good intentions and join in the fight with him.

The Stage Is Set In Lebanon

The UN has set the stage for the next war between Hezbollah (aka, Iran) and Israel. Israel tried to conduct a nice, neat military campaign this time. Next time around one can only hope they give them the "Dresden Treatment". This idea that you can conduct an effective war while focusing most of your attention on reducing civilian casualties is as stupid as thinking you can negotiate with, or make deals with, these obsessed scumbags.

TIBNIN, Lebanon, Sept. 24 — One month after a United Nations Security Council resolution ended a 34-day war between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia, members of the international force sent to help keep the peace say their mission is defined more by what they cannot do than by what they can.

They say they cannot set up checkpoints, search cars, homes or businesses or detain suspects. If they see a truck transporting missiles, for example, they say they can not stop it. They cannot do any of this, they say, because under their interpretation of the Security Council resolution that deployed them, they must first be authorized to take such action by the Lebanese Army.

The job of the United Nations force, and commanders in the field repeat this like a mantra, is to respect Lebanese sovereignty by supporting the Lebanese Army. They will only do what the Lebanese authorities ask.

If you look at his doodles while listening to Euro Enya music, you must believe it is true. A double dose of "dumb ass" and a hit of Millennium Bud also makes it easier to believe this bullshit.

At last a die-hard liberal is writing something I can agree with virtually 100%. This guy "gets it" like no one I have read to date, right or left. I don't think anyone could sum up the truth about our situation today better than he has.

If you care about your life, the lives of fellow Americans and the survival of your country, you have to read this. Don't let the title bias your approach to the material; just read what he says an think about it. He is no fan of Bush or conservative policy, but what he says about the differences between the way liberals and conservative view the threat from Islamic radicals is very insightful.

Given that there have been clear proclamations by jihadists regarding major assaults on the US in the near future, this may be one of the last chances we have to get the nature of the threat clear in our minds before an inconceivable event occurs that will propel us into all-out war. A real war. Not the kind of war we have been fighting, which is a war contaminated with political correctness, lack of commitment and indecision.

We can disagree with all manner of conservative policy on a wide range of issues, but if liberals continue to behave as though jihad is a secondary concern and focus all of their energy on attacking Republicans and claiming as though Bush is more of an enemy than Bin Laden and company, they will be marginalized in an extreme manner when the real war begins.

I long for the days when we could just debate about health care, or taxation or education reform. If we can't get together on this current front, none of those things will matter. - Alan

Pope Benedict XVI committed a blunder by saying, among other things, that Islam was a religion "spread by the sword."

By unwittingly angering Muslims with his comments on Islam, the Pope shows he has yet to learn that speaking the truth about Islam will cause those "peace loving" Muslims to fly into a homicidal rage.

The effect is much like disagreeing with first-amendment-loving, tolerant liberal Democrats, who will stop at nothing to deny you the right to do so, often by the most intolerant means possible.
