Riker is an energetic, loving, 1 1/2 year old neutered, male Weim with a docked tail that needs a new home due to our daughter’s increased extracurricular activities, we are unable to give him the time he deserves. He is eager to please and thinks he is a lap dog. His favorite things are getting his chest scratched and playing fetch. He is up to date on his shots and heart worm, microchipped, AKC registered, crate trained and housebroken. Riker does not live with another dog, but is very friendly toward other dogs when at public events with other dogs (cats unknown). He loves to go on walks but will need some training not to pull. He is a total goofball and keeps us laughing. He rides in well in the car. He has been raised with kids around but doesn’t realize how big he is so can bump into small children a little too hard. We are asking a $150 re-homing fee that will be donated back to the rescue. He will head to his new home with his crate, bed, dog bowls, leashes, toys, etc.
We just want this boy to get the attention he longs for and deserves.
We are located in Catoosa County, Georgia.

We are excited to introduce you to Maddie! Maddie was picked up as a stray in Morgan County with another weim, who we think was her mom. We think she is about 11 months old because she’s all the craziness that you would expect in a weim pup! She is currently in a foster home with a big brother (Waylon) that is teaching her the “ropes”. Here’s a message from her foster family:
“Maddie is an energetic 11 month old with beautiful hazel eyes. She enjoys running in the yard with her foster brother and is learning quickly how to walk on leash. Maddie sleeps well at night, the same can’t be said for other young Weimaraners. She is not house trained yet but is very close to it, like all puppies you need to keep an eye on them they have small bladders.
Maddie is startled by loud noises and movements, she has a very happy personality though. Her tail wags and wags when she is talked to and by far her favorite time of the day is when it’s time to eat – but, hey, she’s a weim! This girl lives for her food and she needs it as she is very thin. In fact, she needs to gain a little weight before we can spay her… but I’m sure she’s up for the challenge!”
Maddie will make a great companion to an active family with a yard or runners, because, as do all young weims, she needs a lot of stimulation and exercise! We will be looking for a home that has experience with weims or similar active breeds. She would probably do best in a home with older children and potentially another medium to large size dog. We don’t know how she is with cats at this point.
If you are interested in Maddie, please visit www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org and submit an application.
If you are unable to adopt, please consider making a donation in her honor to help care for her and all of the weims that we save!

Boomer is a big, 3.5 yr old male Weim with a docked tail. He is good with most other dogs, fine with children, but not okay with cats. Boomer is housebroken, fine left free-roaming when left alone, enjoys long walks, and loves to cuddle. Boomer is a typical high energy Weim and will need an active family that understands the breed. Boomer would be okay living in a condo or apartment as long as he gets plenty of exercise. Boomer is currently completing quiet time after heartworm treatment and will be available for adoption on March 1, 2019.

What could possibly be better than a big, loving, happy Weim with a docked tail that loves other dogs, children, long walks, riding in the car, playing ball and being in the water!!!!! Meet Charlie Blu!!! This big 8 yr old blue boy (DOB 1/13/11) is housebroken, crate trained, and fine left free-roaming in the house. He is friendly and anxious to please (no cats). Charlie’s family surrendered him to rescue because they could no longer care for him; he was loved and cared for by his family since he was a tiny puppy, so he’s a little confused right now. Charlie is hanging out at Camp Bow Wow, Duluth while he waits for his forever home. Charlie is on the green bean diet so he can get ready for those long walks this spring! Will you be the lucky family to give Charlie a forever home for the rest of his life?

Are you looking for a large lap Weim? Jayce may be the boy for you!!! Jayce is a beautiful, three year old 85 lb., male Weim that needs a new home because his owners were unable to give him the time he needs. Jayce is housebroken, gets along well with other big dogs, but cannot be in a home with cats or small dogs (no exceptions). He is fine with children (he has a 5 yr old foster hooman in his current foster home). Jayce’s family rarely took him for car rides, so he gets a little anxious in the car but after a few times in the car since he’s been in rescue, he has begun to relax and enjoy car rides. Jayce has a lot of natural hunting instincts and would be great for someone who hunts. Jayce walks okay on a leash and knows some basic commands – sit, shake, wait (sort of), off (sorta of), and he knows how to use a doggie door. Jayce would do well with another dog in the home as he is very sociable (he lives with a 1 yr old male Weim foster brother), but his foster mom thinks he would be fine as an only dog too. Ideally his new mom/dad will work from home sometimes or is home a lot and can spend the time with him that he needs. Jayce would make a great running or hiking companion.

Update from Jayce’s foster mom: Jayce loves to be outside in the yard and if it weren’t so cold, he be outside all the time…it’s that hunting instinct! Jayce is a big snuggle bug and can’t get close enough! He sure is a typical Weim in that regard!!!! When we leave Jayce, he barks a few times and then settles down.

Update 2: Jayce is such a good dog. He is great left free roaming and hasn’t torn up anything in the house or had any accidents. He loves to sleep in our bed at night but we have been making him get in his bed and he goes right to sleep, then at some point he sneaks back up in our bed….imagine a Weim doing such a thing!!!! lol He loves having other large dogs to romp and play with. We have been taking him to our neighbors who have a young dog too. He loves to be in the fenced back yard and will just hunt for hours. He doesn’t even scratch the door to come in so we think he would actually be good as an only dog too.

Sam and I were lonely, with the kids grown and gone. We had lost our previous Weim 2 yrs before after 12 years of joy! We decided we needed another Weimaraner. We knew what to expect and the love and loyalty they offered.
We looked to the Atlanta Weimaraner Rescue to help us! After an application completed and a home interview, we got a call to come to meet Buster. We took him for a walk and fell in love with him. We took him home that day, having shopped for “stuff” for him! He had simple needs and we discovered his likes and dislikes. He didn’t like to play. He quickly learned the path of our walks and would turn himself around when he was done walking! He loved ice water and knew the
pantry door held his treats. He didn’t like the hardwood floors and managed to find the small rugs scattered in the kitchen as islands of comfort. Each night, he would sleep on the bench at the end alternating through the night with his fluffy bed in our room. He didn’t like the stairs to the bedrooms but powered through them to be near us. It was a short 21 months we had him with failing health in the last 6 months. He passed on December 18th with us surrounding him. That night as I walked up the stairs to bed, I was suddenly overcome with the smell of Buster as he said was passing through and saying goodbye to us!
Sad as we are, time has a way to heal our lost. Thank you for being a great companion!

Ella Bell is a gorgeous, 5-6 yr old blue female Weim with a docked tail that will make an excellent companion to a quiet family. Older children should be okay. Ella’s family moved and left her and her two mixed doggie siblings to fend for themselves for over two weeks. Ella’s foster family is making sure that Ella is slowly gaining weight. She looks amazing considering all she’s been through. Ella is GREAT on leash and house trained (and is NOT crated when the foster family leaves her alone). She is always excited when her foster family takes her outside and she doesn’t get rowdy with other dogs, just wants to hang by your side. When Ella goes on walks, she is eager to meet strangers but gets startled sometimes by cars and umbrellas! When she sees people she puts the breaks on to watch them approach and waits to be petted. She wants you to come to her to love on her. Ella would be okay as an only dog as she is fine left by herself. Ella is not interested in running, she just likes to walk! Ella’s foster family said she is just a good, calm dog that has a few quirks. Sounds to us that Ella is a very, very special girl!

Lanet rescued Bedford…from a Pet Store! He was six months old when given to me as a Father’s Day present. For his 15 years and 6 months he remained my best friend and companion. Bedford was not unlike your Weimaraner:a mischievous and incorrigible counter surfer, he also loved the water. He was a special fellow….
There were three Weimaraners on board when we left the dock. Soon I counted only two. The chase with Bedford and The Dolphin lasted about 45 minutes as Lanet steered the boat and I tried to grasp his collar with a dock hook. Neither Bedford or The Dolphins wanted the game to end. The lesson here is for all to remember life-jackets!
When at Cedar Key, Bedford turned into a conversationalist! He proudly displays a Bud Light Can…soft mouth of a retriever. He would not give it up.

We all have wonderful tales of these marvelous animals. I smile deeply when I see one and “Weim Day at Baerland(!!)” was matched by holding the long-hair
puppy on Saturday…and trying to corral the “herd of 4″ and smiling as “Meg”…with three legs…helped with the fantastic chaos. It really takes a special personality to love a Weimaraner…to understand their many moods, actions, and, truly independent nature.
Bedford still visits me late at night sometimes. Sure, Ms. Carolina and Niklas are very special in their own way. Still, I miss “Moose”…which was our secret name he knew when I really needed him.

Run Free, Bedford, We love you,
Ed and Lanet Forrest

Titus is a loving, 4 yr old boy that wants nothing more than to please his humans. He is open to new adventures and adapts well around other dogs. He is afraid of climbing stairs, and is skittish of staying in the house, but with some patience and coaxing, he will do whatever it takes to make his humans happy. He feels secure in the crate and doesn’t appear to be destructive. Titus will be a great companion for his humans and other dogs alike and wants to be with his pack. Titus is a BIG boy and will be starting his diet immediately. Titus rides well in the car and lays down in the backseat. Even though Titus is going through a lot of changes in his life, he still loves to smile and lean on the nearest person in hopes of getting a back scratch and a few kind words. Titus was surrendered to animal control after his human died recently. He lived with a female sibling in his previous home.

Have you ever dreamed of an almost perfect Blue Weimie girl?
Dream no longer because Marley, a beautiful 6 year old girl is available for adoption. Unfortunately, Marley’s family home burned down and she and her lab sister had to find a new place to live. Marley is great with all other dogs, loves kids of all ages (lived with a 3 yr old and 10 mos. old), likes to ride in the car, loves long walks and doesn’t mind being bathed. Marley is housebroken, crate trained and loves to cuddle. While Marley is very calm most of the time, she does like to rip and romp at times. Marley has the sweetest personality; she is friendly, and very outgoing, but likes nothing better than to curl up on the couch at night and ‘nest’ in a blanket… Marley would make an excellent companion for just about anyone. Cats unknown.
