Starting July 9, 2025, AMC Theatres is offering 50% OFF the regular adult-evening ticket price each Tuesday and Wednesday at participating locations — making movies more affordable and accessible for all families.

The discount applies to all showtimes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Price varies by location. 

There is an additional upcharge for premium formats, including IMAX at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, PRIME at AMC and RealD 3D. Plus, fees still apply for online ticket orders.

National Night Out is a series of community-building events that traditionally take place on the first Tuesday in August. This year, that is Tuesday, August 4th.

But some communities choose to hold their National Night Out events on the weekend, rather than on a Tuesday — so you’ll start seeing events as early as July 30th. 

National Night Out started in 1984, and now takes place in 16,000 communities across the nation. The goal is to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.

At National Night Out events, you’ll often find free food, games, live music, bounce houses, and more. Often, you’ll get to explore public safety vehicles and meet K9 police dogs.

Each event is a little different. But at all of them you will get a chance to meet your local law enforcement officers and neighbors.

If you don’t see a nearby event on this list, we encourage you to do some research on your own, to find out if your neighborhood or town/suburb is hosting a National Night Out.
Some places to check: the Next Door app, your city/county website or newsletter, community Facebook pages, call city hall, or ask your savvy neighbors.

Did you know…

The Woodruff Arts Center campus is the permanent home of a Rodin sculpture cast in bronze. The Shade was donated by the French government as a memorial, in honor of 106 art patrons from Atlanta who died in a 1962 plane crash at Orly Field near Paris.

The statue was cast in bronze in 1968, from Rodin’s original 1880 mold. The life-sized figure stands on an inscribed granite block, and is encircled by a low wall containing the names of the Atlanta Art Association members who lost their lives on that June day.

This is public art, meant for everyone to enjoy.
The next time you find yourself on Peachtree Street in front of the Arts Center, take a moment to visit this famous work by Auguste Rodin.

High Museum discounts & free admission days

NEW! Get a Museum Pass for just $48 for a year

If you love going to the High, this is a deal that you just can’t beat.
You can purchase the new Museum Pass for just $48.
NOTE that the option to pay it as $4 a month for 12 months has been discontinued.

The digital pass gives you unlimited FREE admission to the museum’s permanent collection and most special exhibits. It also includes FREE access to daytime programs like Toddler Thursdays as well.

This is even cheaper than the $83 individual membership — although a membership comes with other perks, like free parking, discount at the Museum Store, and access to special events.
Note that the pass will automatically renew and at $48 each year until you cancel it.

Free admission for military every day

The High Museum offers FREE admission for all military personnel (active and veteran status), PLUS one guest — for a total of two free tickets per household. This is a really good deal. Most military freebies we see only include one person.

The offer is good during regular museum hours, on a walk-up basis — but it does NOT include the Obama Portrait Tour exhibit, which requires a special timed ticket (see the info below).

FREE parking in the Woodruff Arts Center deck is also available for military.
You’ll need proof of service, of course. More info here

Free admission on Second Sundays each month

NOTE: On Sunday, Sept, 16, 2025, Second Sundays will include special programming for Grandparents Day.

On Second Sundays of each month at The High Museum of Art, museum admission is free from noon until 5:00 p.m. There is also special programming that might include live performances and art-making activities.

It’s a good idea to reserve your free tickets in advance, on the High website. 
You can also take your chances on a walk-up admission.

Your ticket is good all day, and you don’t have to reserve a specific time slot. You may also be able to just show up at the museum.

To get a ticket:
Just go to the ticketing page and pull up the date of a second Sunday. You’ll see the price is listed as $0.00. You can choose the number of tickets you need to reserve for your group.

Free admission on third Wednesdays thru Access For All

Starting January 17, 2024, the High Museum will launch a new free admission day — on the third Wednesday of each month.
Note that pre-registration is required.

This new Access For All program not only includes free museum admission, but also a number of dynamic programs, including:

• Open studio workshops and craft-making classes
• Gallery conversations and tours
• Jazz and other live performances
• Movement workshops — explore Qigong and other traditions

This program is currently funded through January of 2027.

Free admission monthly through the Museums on Us program

That credit or debit card in your wallet just might gain you FREE admission to the High Museum of Art once a month, through the Museums On Us program.

The program allows qualified card holders to visit certain museums for free on one weekend per month — including a Saturday and Sunday. It’s usually the first weekend of the month, unless the first weekend is split over two different calendar months (for example Saturday is on Jan. 30th and Sunday is on Feb. 1st).

The qualifying cards include credit/debit cards from Bank of America and Merrill Lynch.

Note that only the cardholder gets a free ticket.  If you’re taking your family, regular prices apply to non-cardholders. The program also excludes special events, special exhibitions, and ticketed shows.

To redeem the offer, just take your qualifying Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card AND a photo ID to the museum with you for free entrance.

Free Teacher Appreciation Days

The FREE Teacher Appreciation Days are scheduled somewhat irregularly. You can check for upcoming educator events here.
Educators are admitted free and may bring one free guest. School ID required.

More for your buck on First Fridays

The popular First Fridays program doesn’t discount admission prices — instead, it adds MORE to what you get for the price of a ticket, to sweeten the deal. This event happens on the first Friday of each month, from 6 to 9 p.m.

There is generally a limited cash bar, music performances, gallery talks, and special activities or workshops that follow a monthly theme. To see the special programming planned for the current First Friday event, check the High Museum’s calendar page.

Getting there & parking

The High Museum of Art is located at 1280 Peachtree St., in the heart of Atlanta’s busy Midtown area. If you drive, you can park in the attached parking deck, but it is pricey — usually a minimum of $15.

Considering the cost of parking, it often makes sense to take Uber or Lyft to get to the High Museum.

There’s also MARTA. With the Arts Center Station right across the street from the back of the Woodruff Arts Center campus, this is one of the simpler venues to get to on the train.

MARTA has a handy guide for getting to the High Museum.

Directions with MARTA

• Take any red and gold line train to the Arts Center MARTA station.
• Exit the train and follow the signs pointing to Arts Center Way, which requires going up three levels (avoid exiting via West Peachtree Street).
• Once you’ve reached street level, the High is just across the street. You’ll find a stairway and elevator that lead directly to the courtyard.

Note: If you are commuting from the blue or green line, you have to travel to the Five Points MARTA station and transfer to the first northbound train.

Saturday Concerts + Activities on the Main Stage

The city of Tucker will host FREE live music on the first Friday of each summer month, from May thru September, in 2026.

Each concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Church Street green space and will feature a different artist. The space will open at 5:30 p.m. so you can set up your blankets or chairs and enjoy a picnic meal. 

A food truck will be on site for each concert.
If you bring your own snacks or drinks, please note that no glass is allowed. No tables are allowed either.

Please don’t bring your pets!

There is also a FREE music series, Tunes by the Tracks, that takes place every Friday in May, June, September, and October — in the Stone Mountain business district. Just click thru the link for the complete schedule!

Tucker Parks & Recreation Department has launched a new series of group hikes, known as Wild Walks. 

The walks are FREE to join in and do not require advance registration.
They take place on select Wednesdays.
Some are in the morning, and others are in the evening, after work.
Each one lasts about an hour. 
See the schedule below.

Explore local Tucker trails and parks, immerse yourself in nature, and discover hidden gems along the way, as you connect with other walkers and nature enthusiasts.

The walks are designed to be easy and welcoming for people of all ages and abilities.

For each walk, just meet in the parking lot of the designated location and look for the group. We suggest arriving several minutes before the walk is set to begin.

Wear appropriate footwear, dress in layers, and bring your own water bottle (or walking stick, if you use one).

The iconic Atlanta Quilt Festival opens on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Southwest Arts Center and runs through September 5th. 
It’s now in its 18th year, and it just keeps getting bigger and better. 

The quilt and textile art exhibit is completely FREE and open to the public, and it’s well worth the drive. There is so much beauty and history on display.

The Atlanta Quilt Festival is dedicated to preserving and promotion African American quilting and other textile arts. The heart of the festival is the juried exhibit, which has grown to over 100 quilts on display. 

You’ll have a chance to view the work of professional textile artists, as well as work by beginners who are showcasing their art for the first time. 

Genres range from traditional art to modern art. 

And if you’d like to learn more about the fiber arts, you can sign up for one of the classes, lectures, or trunk shows that are offered for a fee. Classes include quilting, paper piecing, hand applique, silk painting, patchwork, and more.

The juried quilt exhibit runs from August 1 to September 5, 2026. 
In general, the exhibition hall is open to the public from Tuesday thru Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The opening reception

The Opening Reception for the Atlanta Quilt Festival will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
It is FREE and open to the public.

At the reception, you can view the quilts on display, enjoy light refreshments, shop with local vendors, and meet some of  the fiber artists that are exhibiting.

High Street, the mixed-use district in Dunwoody, will host Wellness Wednesdays on The Green each week from April through October. 

The events are FREE to attend from 6 to 7 p.m.

Yay for the return of Wellness Wednesdays!

These FREE outdoor yoga and Pilates classes take place each Wednesday from April to September, on the Atlantic Green. 

Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and last about an hour.

During Wellness Wednesday, you can reset and recharge in a rejuvenating open-air setting.

These free guided outdoor fitness sessions are designed to build strength, restore balance, and foster connection through movement.

No registration is required, but space is limited and early arrival is encouraged.

Pure Barre will lead the first Wednesday of each month, while Evolation Yoga will guide all remaining weekly sessions. 
Bring your own mat and water bottle!

Parking tips:
Park in the PURPLE section underground, and use Stairwell 7 to reach the Atlantic Green.

The program runs from June through mid-August. 

Here’s how it works:
Each week, two movies are offered at the $1 price, from Monday thru Thursday, at 11 a.m.
It’s possible the start times may vary by location, but we clicked around a bit and everything we looked at was 11 a.m.
Both movies run on all days, so you have a choice.
You could also see both films over two days.

The films are always rated G or PG.

Once again, Colony Square is hosting FREE yoga, every Wednesday night from April to October.
Classes are held from 6 to 7 p.m. on The Plaza. 

The classes are open to all skill levels.
The sessions will be lead by instructors from local yoga studios.

Check in at Concierge, starting 15 minutes before class start time.

Yoga On The Square includes a loyalty program. Attend five classes and you’ll be be rewarded with free yoga-themed swag, plus you’ll earn a chance to participate in Yoga In The Sky, atop Colony Square’s rooftop helicopter pad.

You’re encouraged to walk, bike, or scooter to yoga classes, but if you need to drive, you’ll get a voucher for the parking garage.

The Arts Center MARTA Stations is also just a short walk away, behind the Woodruff Arts Center complex.

Colony Square is located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, at the corner of Peachtree and 14th Streets.

National Night Out is a series of community-building events that traditionally take place on the first Tuesday in August. This year, that is Tuesday, August 4th.

At National Night Out events, you’ll often find free food, games, live music, bounce houses, and more. Often, you’ll get to explore public safety vehicles and meet K9 police dogs.

Each event is a little different. But at all of them you will get a chance to meet your local law enforcement officers and neighbors.

Attend a Deep South Wrestling match — it’s FREE!

Deep South Wrestling puts on live shows that are completely FREE to attend (other than parking fees and concessions).

According to the website, Deep South Wrestling shows are family-friendly. 

As far as sports go, this is probably a more intimate experience than you’re used to. You’re sitting close to the ring, and the wrestlers often interact with the audience. 

Typical venues for pop-up shows are breweries, festivals, parks, and mixed-use developments.

Teens work out for FREE at Planet Fitness in August

Play in these splash pads, spraygrounds, & interactive fountains

The splash pads and spraygrounds in Atlanta are a fun way for kids to cool off and play in the water, without going to a pool. No matter where you live in metro Atlanta, there is most likely a park with a water feature near you — and most of them are FREE.

The splash pad season starts in early May and goes through September at most locations. We’ve put together a handy list of splash pads, spraygrounds, and interactive fountains. The list is organized by county.

Have a close-up butterfly encounter

You can get up close to hundreds of flying butterflies at local nature centers and gardens. If you’re lucky, you may have a butterfly land on your hand or arm.

Each summer, there are opportunities to enter a butterfly house, also known as a butterfly conservatory or lepidopterarium. (These are different from outdoor butterfly gardens.) They are special facilities designed for breeding and displaying butterflies, often with an emphasis on education.

Take the kids to CHEAP movies at theater chains

Beat the heat and take the kids to a cheap movie!
Most of the national theater chains, plus some independent theaters, are offering cheap summer movies for families on a budget. They include AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Marcus Theatres, and more.

The family-friendly films are offered one to five times a week, usually in the morning or early afternoon. Prices range from $1 to $3, and are the same for kids and adults.

Chamblee rocks again this summer, with three FREE outdoor concerts for 2026.

All the concerts take place at the green space in front of Chamblee’s new City Hall, located at 3518 Broad Street in the downtown Chamblee entertainment district. There is a an area of artificial turf where you can set up blankets or chairs.

This a great location, because it’s easy to take MARTA to Chamblee Station, exit the station to the rear, and walk to downtown Chamblee.

But this is also a major change from previous years — because Fourth of July fireworks will NOT take place at Keswick Park, as usual.

Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.
After the July 4th concert, fireworks start at 9 p.m.

There will be food vendors on site. 

In past years, there have been ride share codes available for discounted rides via Uber or Lyft to each concert.
We will update with the discount codes when we receive the info.

NEW open container policy!

Chamblee becomes the latest municipality in the Atlanta metro area to allow outdoor alcohol consumption in its entertainment district!

Starting June 1, 2023, you can purchase alcohol from a licensed establishment in downtown Chamblee and carry it with you, as long as you adhere to the ordinance guidelines.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Hours for outdoor alcohol consumption are 9 a.m to 10 p.m.
• Open containers are prohibited outside those hours.
• You still must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol.
• Alcohol-licensed restaurants will dispense your drink in a clearly marked plastic cup.
• Beer and wine cannot exceed 16 fluid ounces; for distilled spirits it’s 12 ounces.
• You cannot bring your own alcohol to the city for open container consumption.

Getting to the downtown Chamblee business district

Downtown Chamblee is embracing transit-oriented development — and the business district is an easy walk from the Chamblee MARTA Station.

If you live anywhere on the Gold Line, MARTA is a no-brainer. Get off at Chamblee Station, then follow the signs pointing to the buses (not to Chamblee Tucker Rd) to exit the platform. In the middle of the station, one level below, you’ll find a short covered walkway that is marked Peachtree Rd. This is the shortest walk to the concert. 

(TL;DR version — if you take the train, do not exit the station via the front door! Find the walkway to Peachtree Rd and the back door.)

Parking

There is a limited amount of parking in the Chamblee downtown business district. Please find an alternative means of transportation, other than driving, if you can!

After 6 p.m., you can park at Winter Construction, located at 5616 Peachtree Road.
This is 5 minute walk to the concert location.

For the 4th of July concert, and fireworks, in past years you could park at Keswick Park and ride a shuttle to the concert.

There is a new designated rideshare park, located at 5374 Peachtree Road. Please use this address for pickup and dropoff by Lyft, Uber, etc. 
Each concert will also have an Uber discount code — we’re working on tracking that down, so stay tuned!

You cannot bring in outside alcohol. Outside food is permitted, but only small (under 30 quarts) coolers are allowed.

No glass containers, please.

Lawn chairs and blankets are fine, but tents or canopies are not allowed.

These events are rain or shine so dress accordingly.
If the weather threatens to become dangerous, look at Chamblee’s social media pages to find out if an event is canceled or rescheduled.

There will be food trucks on site for all concerts, as well as designated tents where you can buy beer and wine.

But in case you don’t know, downtown Chamblee has shrugged off its “Antique Row” reputation to become a bustling restaurant scene. Come early on concert nights to take advantage of these dining options, all located within a walkable area:

Zoo Atlanta is hosting a special Family Days event on Saturday and Sunday, August 8 and 9, 2026. 

On these two days, they are offering FREE admission and FREE parking to:

• residents of the City of Atlanta
• residents of Fulton County
• employees of the city of Atlanta government
• employees of Fulton County government

The offer includes free admission for up to two adults and up to four children per party. 

You don’t need a timed reservation to participate. 
If you’re eligible, just walk up to the ticket booth with your ID. 

Hours on Saturdays and Sundays are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the last entry is at 4:30 p.m.

Who can resist the allure of the the Atlanta Botanical Garden? It’s arguably the most beautiful spot in Atlanta. 

Unfortunately, ABG has also become a pricey venue to visit, especially when you add in the cost of parking on-site. 

There are no free admission days, and no senior or student discounts. 
There ARE, however, a few ways to save a few bucks, especially if you like to visit frequently — and we’ve listed them below. 

And, for the first time in many years, there’s a current Groupon deal that amounts to $10 off admission — details below! 

Pricing
There are currently three factors affecting the price you pay for tickets:
• Weekend or weekday admission
• Adult or child (age 3-12) ticket
• Ticket purchase online or in person

These prices range from $25 to $35, depending on the factors above.
Note that children under age 3 are admitted FREE. 
You can also pay an extra $5 to “flex” your ticket and rebook for a different day if the weather is bad or you have a scheduling conflict.

Visit on a weekday

From Tuesday thru Friday, ticket prices are about $5 cheaper, across the board. 
The garden is closed on Mondays.
Weekend pricing is in effect on Saturdays and Sundays. 

Use the military discount, if you’re eligible

ABG offers a $5 discount on regular admission for veterans and active-duty service members. 
These discounted tickets must be purchased in-person at the garden, with valid military ID. 
You can get up to four discounted tickets this way.

While online purchases at first appear to be $2 cheaper, it’s very deceptive — because a $5 processing fee is added to online and phone orders. 
Keep in mind there is a chance you’ll get there when the garden is already at capacity and be denied a ticket. This generally happens on weekends (hint: get there early!)
Having a pre-purchased ticket guarantees entry. 

Consider visiting the Gainesville garden instead 

Did you know ABG has a second location in Gainesville?
Adult tickets are just $15 and child tickets (age 3 to 13) are just $13. 
The price is the same every day, Tuesday thru Sunday — with no weekend surcharge. 

Use the Groupon deal while it’s active

There’s currently a Groupon deal available!
Voucher prices are $19.95 for weekdays and $24.95 for weekends. 
That’s it — there are no other fees added. 
You’ll get a mobile ticket, and then you just show up at the garden. 
BUT, you have to purchase and use your ticket by September 6, 2026. 
And as always, read the fine print before you buy. 
The Groupon deal is tied to the Garden’s major exhibit, Niki in the Garden, which ends on Sept. 6th.

There is an onsite parking deck at the Garden. It has generally been slow, crowded, and inconvenient. 

Enter from Piedmont Avenue and park on levels 4, 5, or 6 for garden access. (The Monroe Dr. entrance gives you access to Piedmont Park, but not the ABG.)

You can expect to pay about $5 to $7 for parking during an average garden visit.

Stone Mountain Park is bringing back the classic version of the Lasershow that you remember from the ’80s and ’90s!

It will run on select Saturdays in August and September, plus all of Labor Day Weekend. 
The dates are listed below.

Best of all — the Classic Lasershow is FREE for those nights!
You may know that when the new Light & Drone Show debuted a few years ago, it came with an additional $5 fee per person to get access to the Memorial Lawn for viewing.

The Classic Lasershow is about 45 minutes long. 

That fee will be waived for the special viewings of the Classic Lasershow.
But remember, if you don’t have a Stone Mountain parking pass, you’ll pay $20 to park there.
The price is per vehicle, not per person.

About the Classic Lasershow

Debuting in 1983 on the 825-foot-tall granite outcropping, the Classic Lasershow has been a beloved tradition for decades.

The show took a leap forward in 2011 with Mountainvision. The digital projection creates 3-D-like effects without glasses, transforming Stone Mountain into dramatic visuals like a spewing volcano or crumbling rock. The projection, five times the size of an IMAX screen and taller than the Statue of Liberty, offers an unparalleled viewing experience. 

After 40 years of illuminating the night sky and delighting audiences of all ages, the iconic Lasershow at Stone Mountain Park has been shelved. This beloved tradition has been a staple in Atlanta, captivating millions of visitors from around the world with its stunning visuals and breathtaking displays.

With the show being outdated and in need of a revamp Stone Mountain Park has decided to bid farewell to the Lasershow and replace it with a state-of-the-art production that is bigger, brighter, and more breathtaking than ever.
The Lasershow does reappear periodically.

Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays is back for the 2026 season. The events take place at Taylor-Brawner Park between 5 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday nights, from May 5 to September 22. 

The food trucks will set up in the lower parking spaces, adjacent to the playground and amphitheater.

The food line-up features a selection of both the savory and the sweet, as well as live music.

There is limited parking at the park, but after 5 p.m. visitors can park at The Reed House and South State Bank. There is also parking at Smyrna Presbyterian Church.

Musubi has roots in Japanese food traditions brought to Hawaii by immigrant communities in the 19th century.

The modern SPAM Musubi, featuring grilled SPAM over rice and wrapped in nori, was created on Kaua’i in 1983.
Today, it remains one of Hawaii’s most popular grab-and-go foods and one of L&L’s most recognizable menu items.

National SPAM Musubi Day was officially established in 2021 through a proclamation by Hawaii’s governor and recognition in the National Day Archives. The date August 8, or 8/08, pays homage to Hawaii’s 808 area code, a widely recognized symbol of local pride.

This summer, there are many FREE and family-friendly events happening at Newtown Park, in Johns Creek, including this series of FREE summer concerts.

The concerts take place either at the amphitheater at Newtown Park OR the Boardwalk at Town Center. 
They are FREE to attend.

Food trucks will be on-site, with beer and wine available for purchase.
You can often find a list of food trucks for the current week on the city’s event page.

The gates open at 6 p.m. so you can set up and get settled.
Music begins at 7 p.m.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bring your own blankets or chairs.

These are rain-or-shine events. You can bring umbrellas, but no tents or canopies are allowed. The concert may be delayed or canceled if there is lightning or severe weather.

The East Point Police Department invites the entire community to join them for National Night Out, an evening dedicated to strengthening the partnership between law enforcement and the community, along with fun for all ages.

The event takes place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at East Point City Hall. 

Families can receive free book bags and school supplies, and school-age kids can get free haircuts, as space allows. 

You’ll also enjoy:

Chamblee hosts its National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The event is FREE to attend at the  Chamblee Police Department (4445 Buford Hwy NE, Chamblee, GA 30341).

National Night Out is an annual community building event that promotes strong partnerships between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve. 

You’ll be able to meet the Chamblee police officers that serve the city, as well as elected officials. 

This year’s celebration in Chamblee will feature:
Live entertainment
Free hot dogs, hamburgers, and Kona Ice
Bounce house
Games
Community resources
Vendors
Public safety demonstrations
School supply giveaway

Due to limited parking, free shuttles will provide transportation for attendees from Plaza Fiesta (4166 Buford Hwy NE) to the Chamblee Police Department.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police and community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

Sandy Springs is combining its annual Back-to-School Bash with its National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
The event is FREE to attend and takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the City Springs complex. 

This will be an action-packed evening featuring TWO helicopter landings, an inflatable obstacle course, prehistoric dinosaurs, free shaved ice, a DJ, and more.

You’ll also have meet-and-greet opportunities with the officers and K-9 team of Sandy Springs Police and Sandy Springs Fire Department. 

Event details

Take a peek inside police cars, fire trucks, the mobile command center, plus the QRF and SWAT trucks. Stand by to watch TWO helicopters land on Mt Vernon Highway (at 6:15 PM and 7:30 PM).

Dance to the DJ, climb the giant inflatable obstacle course and grab a FREE snow cone, hot dog, and other refreshments.
Interact with prehistoric dinosaurs brought to you by Sandy Springs Recreation & Parks.

This free, family-friendly event is hosted by the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks, Police and Fire Departments.
