Ronald E. Warfield, 45, of Atlantic City was arrested May 10 by Officer Ernest Dunson and charged with possession of marijuana.

1976 - Holy Spirit Coach Stan Bergman led his crew team to the World Championship at the Henley Regatta in England. The National Crew Magazine cited this team as one of the best schoolboy crews in the history of the sport. The team included Phil Guenther, Tim Maguire, Bob White, Joe Bibik, Blair Forester, Joe Welsh, Tom Mc Devitt, Joe Millar, and Steve Brown.

• On this day in 1943, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt set a date for the cross-Channel landing that would become D-Day. They chose May 1, 1944 but bad weather forced that date to be changed and the D-Day invasion was of course June 6.
• On May 19, 1926 Thomas Edison spoke on the radio for the first time. On the very same day over in Italy Benito Mussolini announced that democracy was deceased and Rome became a fascist state.

Road closures tweaked to reduce impact on businesses

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – When Atlantic Nursery owner Domenick Voce Jr. first heard on Monday that Atlantic County had planned to close the road on which his business is located this week for up to six weeks to do a resurfacing project, and that the South Jersey Transportation Authority would follow that up by closing the bridge on the same road over the Atlantic City Expressway, he was shocked. He had just purchased the business in February, and spring is its busiest time of year.

Garden Club – Best wishes for Peg's recovery

Dull graduates from fire training

G. Dull II, 19, of Egg Harbor Township graduated "Firefighter 1" on Feb. 4 and is Pro Board Certified. The ceremony took place at the Anthony "Tony" Canale Training Center were the students put in 160 class hours and lots of hands on training.

Mothers' tea is kids' treat

The Community Presbyterian Church hosted a Mother's Day Tea Party on Sunday. More than 60 women of the church were served herbal tea with scones, tea sandwiches, and desserts by the Pathways Sunday School children. The children prepared the event by making personalized place mats, name tags and an assortment of decorative tea sandwiches.
