You can now watch our inaugural plugin of the month webinar on-demand. Dan Hardiker, Adaptavist, has written more than 25 plugins for Confluence. In this webinar, he describes the Form Mail plugin and Rating macro and gives a preview to an upcoming Advanced Search macro. Along the way, he gives advice to others interested in developing their own plugins.

JIRA has Sixth Sense (Analytics)

Most time tracking tools only give you partial insight into some of these figures, but if you're really wanting a precise figure, you might turn to Sixth Sense Analytics. They have recently built an integration to JIRA.

Agile Project Management with JIRA

A few months ago I blogged about JIRA becoming a platform for other software tools. I had mentioned several applications that had been built on top of JIRA (or maybe you'd prefer to draw a diagram showing them side by side... no matter!). One that I hadn't mentioned was from VersionOne, "the leading project planning and management tool designed specifically for agile software development."

RedMonk just created a video screencast of VersionOne's Jerry Odenwelder giving a demonstration of the VersionOne integration with JIRA. You can watch it on AtlassianTV or just click below.

What's Your Pattern? - New video on growth of Wikipatterns.com

Just published What's Your Pattern?, a retrospective on the growth of Wikipatterns.com over the past 10 months, and a call to action for wiki users to continue building it into the best possible source of ideas and strategies for growing wiki use. Jon and I decided to create this video as our project for Fedex Day, Atlassian's version of Google's famous 20% Time (where engineers spend one day a week on projects that aren't part of their usual responsibility).

Jon interviewed me about the video for Atlassian TV, and the result is Wikipatterns.com:

Video: Using Mylyn with JIRA

I blogged recently about the JIRA+Mylyn integration with Eclipse, and now we've got a video demo to show you the JIRA hotness in action.

As I said last time:

Mylyn brings JIRA right inside your IDE. You can view your whole list of assigned issues in JIRA. If you tell Mylyn which issue your working on, it will remember everything you do in conjunction with that issue. It begins to hide away all the extraneous stuff that does matter right now, allowing you to focus on what does.
What's more, Mylyn provides the ability to edit and comment on JIRA issues right from the IDE, whether you are online or offline. Mylyn handles syncing up any changes you make to JIRA when you come back online.

Mik Kersten of TaskTop and Coté of RedMonk got together to run through a demo, and now you can see for yourselves how it all works.

Developers really do have a language of their own, one which can be hard for non-developers to decipher. A terse sentence fired over IM can communicate reams of information.

"It's a kludge, but put the tuple from the database in the cache."

The problem is — as this video shows — even developers themselves can have a hard time understanding each other.
