5 on Friday : Things That Are Making Me Smile!

Happy Friday y'all. We're headed up to Greenville tomorrow so my parents can drive us to Charlotte for our one-way flight to move to London on Sunday! Eek! I can't believe it's here. This process has gone by so fast. Unreal that in three days, I'll be a resident of the UK. Crazy.

There's been a lot of stress around here lately as you can imagine (shared all my honest thoughts here), so today I'm sharing 5 things that put a smile on my face this week! Hope you enjoy this fun rundown of 5 on Friday!

{ONE} Momsplaining with Kristen Bell

If you haven't heard, Facebook now has Watch which is compiled of "TV" shows and more. Ellen launched a show with Kristen Bell (my total girl crush) and it is just SO good y'all. Warning, you'll get sucked in and watch all the episodes at once. Watch them here.

{TWO} Ruffle Fit & Flare Midi Dress

Ok please no judgment on this messy mirror selfie but y'all I LOVE this dress. It's rare for a shortie to look good in a midi dress, but this one is just special with the fit and flare and ruffles. I have a feeling I'll be wearing this navy number (it also comes in a gorgeous light blue and sunny yellow) all summer long and on all our travels. Find it here.

{THREE} I Feel Pretty Trailor

This movie looks like it's going to be such a breath of fresh air for us ladies! Amy Schumer is hilarious and I think confidence is the one thing we gals seriously lack. Hope this reminds you to feel pretty today! Do they play US movies in the UK?

{FOUR} Printed Floral Dress

This dress makes me SO happy for so many reasons, but I'm so sad that when it arrived it was too large and I needed a size down. Don't have time to exchange it, so I've got to let it go, but y'all go buy it NOW. It's flattering, light but a good transition piece with the long sleeves and so unique with the print.

{FIVE} Instagram-spiration

Totally just made that word up. But y'all, Instagram is pulling me through this week. Everyone gives social media such a bad rep, and yes I know I'm biased, but here are the few things that have given me life this week.

Y'all should see my house ever since we've packed. This from @ohhappyday made me chuckle because it's totally how I feel about the state of my home (and life).

Anyone else into crystals? I had a pretty awesome rock collection in a hot pink kaboodle growing up so it's a natural fit for me haha(!). They don't hurt and if they actually work, great! I love the breakdown that goes along with this post from @melyssa_griffin.

Aren't you feeling happier already? Between the laughs, beautiful and well-fitting dresses and inspiration this post did me well.

Thoughts on Moving to London for a Year

We move to London in six days y'all. SIX DAYS! Naturally, I'm having #AllTheFeels after packing our lives up this weekend in preparation for this move. So here I am, sharing them with you!

This blog started as a creative outlet back in 2014 and also as a way to journal and document our lives. I've taken breaks, I've been on blogging streaks, but it's always here. So actually this post is more a journal entry and fair warning, it will be long :).

I originally started this post as I was sitting in my quiet home (Sully was with Nonna/Grandad at the beach) on Easter Sunday. I was feeling inspired and filled with so much love because gosh, Jesus rising from the dead after dying to save us is a powerful thing and my soul always feels fueled by this love! I thought it would be a good time to journal out the real answer I want to give when someone asks about our move.

I first have to say that I 100% am surprised by God's plan for us and feel EXTREMELY blessed by the opportunities and state of our lives. I know this is the opportunity of a lifetime and one we'll never ever forget.

Someone said to us when we were deciding whether to go or not that at the end of our lives we may remember a few special occasions in 2018/2019, but we will always, always, always remember our 12 months in Europe. Pretty powerful. And a pretty gracious and generous decision available to us to make.

It's funny, a lot of our friends without kids or who have lived in one place for awhile or actually those who have the travel bug, their eyes pop out of their head when they hear that this was a hard decision for us to make and we even said "no" when they asked us to go for two years at first.

You see, I sincerely thought our move to Charleston was our final big move and we would finally start to settle down and have more babies. Yet more babies never came (that's a story for another post), but we did build a home, make friends, Sully got in her groove at "school" and I put my blood, sweat, and tears into building a business that went off with a bang. We're living and loving the bliss that is Lowcountry life in Charleston.

Then we were faced with a decision that if we said "yes" would uproot us from this bliss and success in my business and in two months launch us to a foreign country. It's a world of unknown and it also came with what felt like an impossible list of things to figure out before we get there.

Stress/anxiety is one of the big factors in why we believe we aren't pregnant yet - did I really want to add more? Would Sully be ok with this change? Can I leave my family and friends for that long? My business has never had more momentum - did I really want to risk moving to another country, would people still invest in me from abroad? Would our dogs survive the flight and flat living? What about our home? Can we afford one of the world's most expensive cities? Almost even scarier - what if we get over there and love it?

BUT think of all the travel, new places, new people, new cultures, experiences and LIFE we're going to get to live! That's why we're doing this. That one sentence beat out the paragraphs of questions.

So here I am on the final week in my home and I'm feeling scared. Straight up, freaking out a lil bit. And no amount of, "oh but Erin this is going to be so great and think of all the adventures you'll have... " is going to get me through it. We just have to GO. Call it #firstworldproblems, but y'all you have to admit it's scary thinking about moving your family to a new country and into a "flat" that you've never seen with your own eyes.

I can usually distract myself by googling "lavender fields in Provence" or some bougie travel adventure we're hopefully going to take, but right now I'm just a big ol ball of emotions and "lasts". I had to say goodbye to my office downtown this weekend and the last time I would walk out of that building. This is the last Sunday going to our beloved church. I saw a lot of folks at my "Going Global" party for my business for the last time before we come back. You get the gist...

The hardest part of all is leaving the dogs. I can't look at them without just jumping on them for a snuggle (and usually a cry). I know they'll be SO much happier here at home with my Mother-in-Love than they would be forced onto an airplane, possibly quarantined for months, living in a 600 square foot flat with no backyard and boarded each time we travel which we hope is a lot. But gosh y'all, I don't know if I can fall asleep without my Cotton and if I can wake up without a stinky breath Mallie snuggle.

Sully doesn't understand what's going on at all, we talk about London a lot, but she's not comprehending the change. If she would though... here is what I would say to her. And once I get over my hump, I'm going to believe and take my own words to heart.

Dear Sully,

Are you ready for a big adventure?! Grab your backpack and map my little Mook, we're about to be just like Dora the Explorer over the next year. We're going to the land of Madeline and Peter Rabbit and Harry Potter!

You're going to see the London Bridge (no, it is not actually falling down), ride a carousel in Paris for your birthday, swim off the coast of Italy, eat gelato straight out of a cart, see the Eiffel Tower glitter at night, become well versed at traveling the Tube (just like Paddington!) and go four-leaf clover hunting in Ireland.

It's going to be SO. MUCH. FUN!

But it might also be a little scary at first and at times throughout. Just know that you've got Mommy and Daddy, you'll be safe, you'll be loved and you belong.

Our hearts are going to hurt a little bit because we'll be missing our pups and our family. This is only temporary though. A year flies, especially when you're having fun, and we'll be back in our little home surrounded by puppy snugs and family love before you know it.

Even if you have no memories of this time, I hope the bravery, the fun, and the bond that this will bring for our little family stays with you for the rest of your life. You are so loved my little child and your Daddy and I take these great risks for the hope of reward for you and our lives together.

To my husband... oh gosh y'all he deserves an entire blog post, I've been so hard on him because this all came about for his job. Moments of bitterness at shifting my business when what I had been working for was coming to fruition. The extra stress and panic attacks he's sat on the bathroom floor and ridden out with me. My crazy ideas for all the places we can travel, Morocco being the latest. He's a saint. So to him, I want to say...

Dear Ryan,

What an adventure our life is becoming! Did you ever think the good 'ol boy from Camden who thought Greenville was a big city would now be moving to London?!

I knew the moment I fell in love with you that there's no doubt God put us on this earth together to love each other and spread this big love and joy wherever possible. Even all the way to the United Kingdom.

I would travel to Mars and the moon for you Ryan Alexander. I really would, and my answer is always "yes" to the things you believe in and wish to pursue.

We've said "yes" to many hard things before, a lot of which didn't wait for that answer, they just happened. I don't doubt that we have a lot of much harder things to come down the road, but I pray to God that we do them all together.

You know what we say, you're my island in a big 'ol ocean of craziness that life brings. So we can do this. We can do the UK. We can do the next year. You can do this new job and you will kill it. You always do and you will continue to do so.

I love you more than any words could ever explain. I'm excited for this adventure with you and all the stories we'll have to tell our great-grandchildren one day.

Finally, all this would not be possible without our family and friends. While I won't bore you with another letter :), I want you all to know we're so grateful for you and couldn't do this without you either. To Ryan's Mom who is renting our house and loving on our dogs for the year. To my Mom and Dad who are supporting us even though their hearts ache over Sully being away for a year. To my Nana and Papa who have offered us anything we need, no questions asked. To my friends Cambron and Elliot who have also offered to do anything we need here in Charleston while we're gone.

This doesn't even begin to cover everyone, but just please know that every text, every call, every comment you leave, every heart you send our way, every direct message, every smile and words of encouragement in person and more mean the world. Please keep them coming!

🌍 Our 2018 Travel Bucket List 🌍

My oh my how 2018 is turning out to already be quite the year. It's one thing to start it off with what you think is a clear idea of your goals and loose schedule for the year just to have it completely turned on its head in the best possible way. Not going to lie, I'm a little sad I used up my Powersheets planning prior to knowing this change of plans. :)

The stresses of "immigrating" to another country for a year (y'all won't believe how intense the Visa process is!) are numerous, but gosh thinking of all the TRAVEL brings us so much excitement. So we made a bucket list of all the places we want to go in this next year and you guys, there just aren't enough weekends!!!

Below is what we narrowed it down to - but we need your help! Either comment on this post or go to my Instagram post featuring our Buckingham Palace selfie and comment on any or all of the blow:

If you had to choose a quick weekend in one of these places which one would you do: Cinque Terre, Ireland, Belgium or Holland (we're going to miss the tulips already)
What on this list would you skip?
Are we going to any places at the wrong time of the year?
What are we missing?
Where should we stay and what should we do in these places?! I'll post individually on them too throughout the year because it is a little intense to think about getting recommendations on all of them at once. I have a note on my phone going for them though - so bring it on if you think of something!

A few call outs... the December Hawaii trip was already planned before our move, so no control there (we know it's going to be a looonngggg flight). We're excited and grateful to our parents for bringing us along to celebrate their big anniversary!

We won't be taking Sully to Ibiza and Morocco, that trip is to celebrate our 30th birthdays (quite a bit after) while my Mom is in London.

Paris, Champagne and Amsterdam are already booked so no going back there!

We'll still be abroad in 2019 so a couple other trips we're thinking about early next year are - Switzerland and Norway (for the northern lights!). We also hope to make it back to Positano at some point since it's our most favorite place in the whole world and we'd love to show it to Sully.

And who am I kidding, life happens and traveling is expensive so we may only make it to half of these places! Or maybe we'll just fly by the seat of our pants and look on a Thursday at what the cheap flights are and just go from there. I'd like to think I'm chill enough for that anyway :).

Also, we plan on taking advantage of London and all the fun day trips there too, I just didn't list them out!

5 Steps to Wellness in your Home

My word for 2018 is WELLNESS, so I'm trying to bring this into every avenue of my life. Including inside my home! When I shared a poll on Instagram Stories asking if you'd like to learn how we're incorporating wellness into our home - 100% of you said "yes"! So here ya have it, 5 steps that helped me get started on bringing "Wellness" in your home.

JOIN GROVE COLLABORATIVE

This is hands down the service that kicked off my wellness in the home journey and quite honestly the #1 way I stayed on track and was introduced to new products. Their goal is literally to bring safe, sustainable products to every family.

They email and/or text you each month to remind you to order and you can order nothing (no limit on how much you can skip), order what you did last month or add things. Even better, almost all the products are discounted - I did a comparison to the same products at Target and they were cheaper on Grove. They also give you exclusive access to products that you can't find at big stores (like the coveted peppermint Meyers soap!).

Secondly, download the Think Dirty app on your phone and scan or search cleaning products before buying them so you know what products aren't harmful or toxic. It's absolutely crazy how many products are masked as "clean" but score a 7 or higher on the app.

{ONE} Wool Dryer Balls + Essential Oils

This is my favorite wellness in the home hack. Where do I even begin on these 3 magic wool balls that I add lavender essential oils to every single dry? Here's everything they do or are:

Reduce your drying time by 25%
Soften your clothes
All-natural and chemical-free
Hypoallergenic so even if you're allergic to wool, they work
Last 1,000 loads
Save you LOADS (see what I did there ;)) of money by not buying dryer sheets that leave a chemical residue on your clothes + save you energy/money with the reduced drying time
Naturally, scent your clothes

Just search "dryer balls" in Grove once you join. They're the Grove brand and only $16!

{TWO} Essential Oil Diffuser

Speaking of essential oils, I'm completely hooked. A lot of the time we diffuse them instead of candles. Why?

Chemical free - a lot of candles produce benzene and toluene which are carcinogens!
No flame around dogs or babies
The smell lasts longer because it's dispensed slowly over a period of time
Aromatherapy - it's amazing what a little lavender can do to calm us down, what a little lemongrass can do to make my home feel like a spa and what energizing blends can do to pep up our morning

We just use this $25 diffuser off Amazon. I even wrote a whole post on essential oils for productivity over on my business's blog.

{THREE} Towels (not napkins or paper towels)

Ok, so we made it maybe a week straight with purely towels if I'm being honest. That said, I no longer buy napkins and I only reach for paper towels if it's something truly grimy. It was just crazy to me how many paper towels and napkins filled our trash. This has at least brought us awareness so we cut down on our usage.

Funny enough, my favorite kitchen towels are the free ones Grove sends me. I have three now and they're so absorbent, sturdy and large. You can also find them on their site by searching "kitchen towels" once you join.

{FOUR} ManaTEA

Speaking of reducing waste to make your home "well". I normally drink at least 3 cups of tea a day (just can't do coffee y'all) - that's over 1,000 tea bags thrown in the trash in a year! Enter the ManaTEA that I found at Target. Now I buy loose leaf tea, pop it into my tea diffuser and compost the leaves (see #5 on that topic). BOOM - no waste!

True, you can compost some tea bags, but most of them aren't hemp or ingredients that are compostable so be careful and see #5 below for more info.

{FIVE} Composting

Is it ok for me to share one thing that we've completely failed at when it comes to wellness for our home? Because we totally failed at composting.

First off, I thought you literally compost ANY type of food - including meat. Ew, WRONG. So, so wrong. I like this article on 100 things you can compost. Here are some things you CAN'T compost:

Meat! (including fish)
Dog and Cat Poop (or any carnivores for that matter)
Citrus Peels
Onions - this and the above can kill worms and other things that help everything thing down
Paper (ok, paper bags sure, but no glossy/coated paper)
Take the sticky labels off your fruits and veggies!
Ash and sawdust (from treated wood)

Secondly, the bag leaked on us one time and then another we didn't compost the bag well enough and our dogs got into it and got sick. I'm for sure not giving up here though! I'm determined to make this work y'all.

I do love our little compost bin. Not to sound like a broken record, but it's from Grove which you can find by searching "compost" once you join. See, I wasn't kidding when I said I really do love Grove and you should join :). Our bin is only $20 and the bags are $6 for 25, but honestly, I haven't shopped around on those yet to know if that's good or bad for compost bags.

I first got to wear this fun top to breakfast in downtown Charleston with Nana and Papa when they came to town. Paired with my new fav button fly, wide-leg crop jeans and leopard mules it was such an easy and cute outfit.

We parked on Archdale and walked to Queen Street Grocery for crepes. I had never stopped in the Unitarian church's graveyard before so we wandered through there. I was BLOWN AWAY! The Spanish moss, the history in the tombstones and the azaleas all were just so beautiful. Not going to lie, it made me think, "Why am I leaving Charleston again?".

Of course, I found a Charleston home that matched my stripes perfectly too! Right across from Queen Street. It was actually under construction and this green door was wide open. Well, it was too pretty not to get in the photo so I reached in and closed it just a smidge ;).

Girl, I've Got Your Back(pack)!

For years I've carried around a very, very large tote bag and while I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, I started getting a hankering for a backpack that was more shoulder-friendly. I first saw this bag when I had coffee with my friend Brette. When I did a google search after we met I couldn't believe that it was under $90! Although I will say, I do still love this pink backpack (I ordered the mini for Sully), this pebbled leather one, and this one seen on Gal Meets Glam is just backpack goals!

Now it's my go-to for everything from toting around my laptop (it fit up to a 15" laptop) to all the snacks Sully's little heart could desire! I have a feeling it's going to be my main bag in London and all our travels too.

What I love the most besides the style and price? There are SO many pockets! I mean, I feel like I find a new pocket every day y'all. First, there's the front zip pocket where I keep my cell and keys and things I need to quickly access.

Then in the main compartment, there are two open pockets and one small zip against the front flap. There's also a large open pocket against the back as well.

The pocket fun just doesn't stop! :) There's also a back padded compartment with an open pocket and snap closure for your laptop.

Finally, there's a strap that sits flush up against the bag that you can use to connect the backpack to your suitcase in the airport.

Awesome, right?! I seriously don't think I've ever gotten more compliments on any bag before! I already know two friends who've ordered it themselves. #twinsies

5 on Friday: Oh Hey March!

It's the first Friday in March y'all! How did that happen?! I'm ready for a fun 5 on Friday, how about you?!

Frankly, before we get started, I'm pretty pumped March is here because in my world right now, March equals decisions being made! Like renting the "flat" where we'll be living in London, solidifying our house being rented out in Charleston, getting a UK bank account (the hardest thing in the world believe it or not!) firming up Sully's part-time daycare and oh so much more.

This is going to sound like a total diva moment, but I don't know that I would have survived February without my close friends (you know who you are!) and my acupuncturist. Cupping and the hour lying on that table with zen music and those perfectly placed needles was my saving grace. Not to mention Lisa's calming and insightful presence!

This month I have a great mix of 5 on Friday items, no matter how you're feeling at the beginning of this month!

Do you ever come across someone on Instagram and literally can't get enough? That's what happened when I found Aggie and her 426K followers. Her adventures are amazing, her photo editing stunning (and she sells her presets!) and her Highlights are my go-to when looking at where we're going to travel when we move abroad!

{TWO} Article - What Those Words on Beauty Products Really Mean

The Free People blog kills it y'all, I love it and this article was short and sweet enough that I actually got it. This is particularly scary:

"... a lack of regulation makes it incredibly easy to slap the term ‘natural’ on a label without anything to back it up. Many products that claim to be natural are likely just jumping on a marketing trend."

I'll be looking more for this label:

"Three cheers for regulation! To be “organic,” a product needs to pass a test of sorts put forth by the USDA: it has to contain at least 95% organic ingredients that have been grown and processed under a strict code of guidelines, and be free of additives."

Y'all need to school me on this topic, what else do I need to know about ingredients? Which ones do you stay away from when you look at ingredients? That's what I want to know next!

Our Instagram-Worthy London Bucket List

What a whirlwind London trip we had y'all! And now I'm glad I can finally say why! We took a redeye and landed in London Friday at 7am, dropped our things at the hotel and hit the streets immediately to combat the jet lag. Then we had the weekend to play around and be tourists.

I have to note that we went in January and it gets dark starting around 4pm, so our daylight was limited. Which means it also got cold early too - see my full packing list here.

After a meeting on Monday, we really realized that London could be our home in a few months. So then it was more about going around and looking at neighborhoods. That's why things slowed down on Insta Stories haha, I felt like I couldn't post too much! I actually had people asking me via Instagram if we were ok because I stopped posting. Sorry y'all!

Not to mention, there was ZERO time to plan before we got there because we booked flights two weeks before we left, so we just were winging it based on all your wonderful recommendations from this Instagram post and messages on Facebook.

Considering it was a lot of tubing and town touring, I thought I would switch things up and instead of sharing a play-by-play of our trip, share an Instagram-Worthy London Bucket List with you!

First off, can we just establish that pretty much all of London is Instagram-worthy?! So yes, this post is going to be long, but that's how I roll :). I was really surprised at how cute of a city is considering that 11 MILLION(!) people live there.

I love how easy Instagram was to use as a resource to find fun places to go! Much to Ryan's dismay ;), we hit SO many of them too! I added everything we did to my Instagram Highlights on my profile, you'll see the little soldier icon that says "London" and it's all right there for you!

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

We didn't time things right to make the changing of the guards, but Buckingham Palace still didn't disappoint. It's just such a magnificent building and there are so many beautiful views of it, so make sure you don't stay in just one place - walk around, walk up, walk away.

KENSINGTON PALACE

I had such a lovely afternoon at Kensington Palace Gardens while Ryan was working. I randomly happened upon it when touring Kensington as a place to live so I decided to walk through the Gardens where I saw the swans at the lake and then made my way to the Palace. I completely lost track of time though and when I got there around 3:50, they weren't letting anyone else in for tours because they close at 4pm. Oh well, just another thing to do when we move in April! :)

NOTTING HILL

When we landed and were trying to fight jet lag, we headed straight to Notting Hill to check out Portobello Road. It did not disappoint and was a great introduction to the city.

BOROUGH MARKET

We ate breakfast here almost every morning because it was so cute and really close to our hotel (London Bridge Hotel). The egg butty was our fav and it's right across from an amazing juice stand! This wall is walking out of the market onto the main road, you can't miss it! And we all know a good wall is a key to Instagram-worthy!

TEA AT SKETCH

This was by far the most recommended place. Trust me when I say the bathrooms are going to BLOW.YOUR.MIND. It felt like I was in some bizarre sci-fi movie. And then the tea... OH the tea. The service is awesome, they bring you tea of your choice and then sandwiches and cakes. It was a really neat experience y'all! We had to make reservations and it was pretty expensive but in my mind an experience like none other.

I seriously could have done a whole entire post on just this place! Only thing is, it's not the best lighting at all for photos :).

HARRODS

Ok, how could a gal who loves good shopping NOT go to Harrods?! It was beautiful and was everything I imagined it to be and so much more! Even if you don't like shopping and can't afford a single thing in the whole store (like me haha), GO. There are entire restaurants, butchers, coffee roasters, confectionaries and more there. It was fabulous.

DISHOOM

You have to have Indian food when you're in London! And this is the place to get it folks! My friend Christen (follow her yummy IG) raved about the Chai Tea (my fav!) and the Egg Naan Roll for breakfast. The chai tea was insane to the membrane!!! Make this one of your first stops.

The staff was absolutely incredible and our main waiter asked if we lived in London or were tourists and we mentioned we could potentially be moving to London. He got so excited and ran away and came back with these little tiny bags and inside was a mini bronze dice on a key ring. They have a "locals day" so if you're part of the mailing list a bring it in your dice keychain that day they give you an actual dice to roll. If you roll a 6 your entire table's meal is on them! Isn't that so fun?

ELAN CAFE

I know you've seen this place all over Instagram, it's the one with the pink floral wall and yummy food! We ran out of time (and the line or "queue" as Brits say was always long) so we went at night and were so excited to get sat in the flower wall room in the back. Surprisingly, this place had the best food we ate (outside of Dishoom for breakfast). 100% order the sweet potato fries!

PEGGY PORSCHEN CAKES

When I asked people where to go in London, Charleston Weender and a friend of a friend (who I think has great taste!) suggested this adorable cake shop which is in the Westminster area of town. It was absolutely adorable with its flower-filled heart outside of the pink building. Definitely save time to walk around the area and see the beautiful flower shops, shoe shops and home interior shops (my favorite made table cloths that looked like watercolor, but really spelled out funny words).

We waited in line to get in and have a cupcake and a drink and I have to tell ya, I wasn't super impressed with the cupcakes we had. They were adorable, but dried out, unfortunately. So I would suggest taking your cute photo outside and then popping inside to grab a hot chocolate to go - because that was DELISH!

DRINKS AT THE SHARD (GONG)

It helped that our hotel was a few buildings down from The Shard (like a piece of glass) which is the tallest building in London and has THE best views. Now - it is incredibly expensive, but to get to the observation deck which is a floor above and is an entry fee, so at least at the Gong restaurant you get a drink for your money while you wait to get moved to a window seat.

They do make it interesting drink wise, mine had an actual (dead) SCORPION hidden in the leaves. They told me I could eat it and I was like.... uhhhh no thanks :). The person next to us had a Star Wars themed drink that legit was floating.

COVENT GARDEN

This one was a surprise for me. We didn't have it on our list, but happened upon it after Dishoom and were so surprised. We went to the Paris macaroon house of Laduree and wandered in and out of stores watching street performers and taking in the city views.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE

If it's your first time to London, you just have to go to Trafalgar Square. It's an easy walk up the Mall (pronounced Mal) from Buckingham Palace. It's full of beautiful landmarks (and some street performers) and surrounded by even more historic buildings and museums.

RED TELEPHONE BOOTHS

This is a given for a good London Instagram photo, right!? And don't stress, you'll find these fancy little booths all over London. This one was right outside Covent Garden.

Bonus - CHURCHILL ARMS BAR

I can't believe I forgot this one on the list! It's so cool from the outside you guys and just as interesting on the inside. It was the perfect stop after a loooonnnggg day of sightseeing.

A note on BIG BEN AND WESTMINSTER ABBEY - they both were under construction and Big Ben especially was completely covered in scaffolding so don't get your hopes up here if you're going anytime soon.

The Phillips Family is Moving Abroad!

I've stopped and started this post about 12 times y'all. It's hard to find the words for such an unexpected and huge thing to come along in our lives! I mean, here I am, thinking that my next big announcement would be a pregnancy (we're still praying hard for this one friends!) and that we've finally made it to our ultimate destination of Charleston where we're going to leisurely spend the rest of our lives while I build my business which has SO much momentum right now and God says:

"No my darling! I've got bigger plans for you!"

But of course, I had to hop on the blog and announce our news here, plus share some personal thoughts to document this time! So, what is this anoucement you ask? WE ARE MOVING TO LONDON! 😳🤗😬🤗

We have #allthefeelings about heading across the pond for a year right now - from excited, to stressed, to sad, to eager, we've got it all going on. It's coming so fast too, we move the first week of April!

It sounds very glamorous to just pick up your life and move abroad for a year, but in reality you guys it is freaking scary as hell (excuse my language, but seriously). And there is SO much and I mean SOOOOOO much to figure out.

Once I climb out of this hole of endless things to do in order to be able to move, I know it will be pure excitement. I mean, I can hop on a train and be in Paris in two hours. We've also already started our country bucket list and there are at least 14 countries on there now. EEK!

Ok so wait, how did this happen and how are we going to make it happen you may ask? Here are answer to the quetions we keep getting asked, just in case you're curious too.

WHAT MADE YOU UP AND MOVE TO LONDON?

Ry works in mergers and acquisitions and he helped the London branch of his company here in Charleston acquire an awesome new company over there. So they asked him to move over for a year to help the two merge together and work through all the spreadsheets as I like to think of it (yes Ryan, I know you do more than spreadsheets every day, but hey this is how my brain works!).

So we said yes after taking our trip over there to check it all out! I really did love London you guys. It's a huge city, but has a smaller feel and is so full of culture and life. Although, not going to lie, the fact that we're most likely going to live in 500 square feet of space where we know barely anyone is pretty scary. Ryan flies back over later this month to hopefully find the flat we'll be living in.

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR CHARLESTON HOUSE?

Yes - we are renting out our house! See the Craigslist post here. I'm going to miss our little home, but gosh I'm glad we'll have a familiar place to come back to.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?

Pinckney Palm will keep going! I'm going to pare my services down to social media consulting and one-time projects vs. the robust monthly support I'm providing 10 clients now. My amazing employee Sarah is looking for new opportunities, but we'll be keeping in touch for freelance work! My downtown office will be handed over to a new lucky person (let me know if you want the details!), but I hope to stay in touch with the landlord and come back to it eventually when we return.

WILL SULLY GO TO DAYCARE OVER THERE?

Here's a happy part I'm looking forward to (besides all the travel)! Since my business is super busy right now, Sully is in full-time daycare. Now that I'm going to pare things down, and because daycare prices are INSANE over there, I get to keep Sully at home with me except for Mom's morning out 3 days a week. Let me know if you have any homeschooling tips or resources!

WHAT ABOUT YOUR DOGS?

Now, here's the part that sucks the absolute most. We have to leave our dogs. Yep, my first babies and the furry loves that keep my stress down and snuggle me to sleep every single night have to stay behind. I'm devastated here, but you guys it's just not fair to them. They would have to go on the plane for hours and hours and their anxiety is already bad as it is being older. They could get quarantined and they'd have to live in our tiny flat with no yard where we'd be off traveling all the time. The tricky thing now is trying to find someone to care for them that we love and trust while we're gone.

WILL YOU BE BLOGGING ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY?

Yes, this is definitely a more joyus topic. The blog is coming back!!! I'll be getting my blogger groove back on and refuse to not document this insane journey! So make sure you're following my Instagram or Facebook to stay in the loop.

Phew! Ok, so that's my life right now :). Exciting, but a lot to figure out! I'd be lying if I said the smiling faces and jumping for joy were the whole picture, there have also been so many tears and yes, a panic attack (or three!).

I'm a firm believer though that God won't give you anything you can't handle. I'm also well aware of how incredibly blessed we are for this once in a lifetime opportunity. I do feel called to do this for my husband and family and ultimately lay over all my worry to Him. I know He has these spectacular plans that this gal who was born and raised in little 'ol Greenville, SC never ever imagined.

So what words of advice or encouragement do you have for us?! I'm not ashamed to ask for it, we can use all the cheerleading we can get! :) Also, PLEASE let me know if you have friends in London, especially ones with kiddos. I would love to reach out to them!

Finally - THANK YOU. We have had so many people cheering for us already (two of which have already booked plane tickets haha!) and we're so grateful.

What to Pack for London in January

Finding out that you're headed to London only two weeks before leaving is a bit crazy y'all, especially for my uber-planning mind. I was kindaaaa freaking out that I didn't know what the weather was, what to pack, what to expect, what we were going to see, etc. (please tell me I'm not the only one?!).

In the end, I totally overpacked and one of the most asked questions via direct message on Instagram was what to wear in London, from shoes to bags to coats, etc. So here ya go peeps, I hope you don't make the same overpacking mistakes as me! And let me know in the comments any questions you have that I didn't answer!

Coming up next... our full itinerary of everywhere we went and all we did in our week across the pond!

IN MY SUITCASE:

1. Michael Kors Trench - If I could suggest any item for London it's this black trench or one similar (clearly this one is #goals)! It's super lightweight which makes it easy to roll up and throw in your suitcase or bag, it's waterproof and it has a hood. It's not the warmest, but as long as I had long sleeves and a scarf I was good.

2. A Medium Weight Sweater (or five!) - I actually had one of my sweaters laundered while we were there because I needed that added layer under my trench. The one linked is totally not London style, but the preppy American in me can't get enough of the pink color with the blue bows down the back! I also love this one, this one and this one.

3. Black Waterproof Boots - I wore my Hunters a lot, but did have to wear them on the flight because they're so heavy and take up so much space. These cuties would have been my choice if I had time to order a pair. If money were no object, these boots would be my splurge.

4. Warm Scarf - I couldn't find the exact scarf that I wore with my jacket most the time, but if I had had time, I would have ordered this one. I also wore my lightweight Burberry scarf (color: Ash Rose) a lot during the day when we luckily got great weather.

5. Spanx Faux Leather Leggings - They hold ya in in all the right places and are stylish, I wore these way more than I would like to admit. I also wore my ankle Mother jeans non-stop.

6. Download and set up your apps in advance! See my two "can't live withouts" below:

Citymapper - Not something to pack, but definitely download the Citymapper app before you go! It was seriously the only way I got around by myself while Ryan was working. It tells you what Tube to take down to every stop and turn. Speaking of Tubing - if you'll be using it a lot, just get an Oyster card before you get on the first time and you'll be good to go as long as it's "topped up" with enough money. Don't hassle with the zone ticketing.

Apple Pay - Unless you're planning on using pounds the whole time, put your credit card in Apple Pay if you have an iPhone. Reason being, they expect credit cards to have a pin and American cards don't - so you have to sign every time which is a hassle because they bring the machine to your table (they aren't allowed to take your card away). So Apple pay makes "contactless" pay so easy by hovering your phone over the machine, no signature or pin needed. Also - make sure your credit card doesn't charge international rates before you go. The Capital One Venture card is the best travel card in our opinion! :)

7. Universal Travel Adapter - You may want to bring 2 of these per person. You'll need it for everything from your phone charger to your hair straightener (which you should check wattage on before you come!)

8. Warm Hat - This was best for night because it got so windy which made it instantly super cold. This hat was literally $15 off Amazon and was so cute and cozy.

9. Something to Track your Steps! - It was really fun to see all the steps I got while we were over there and I just used my Apple Watch. My best day was 22k steps which was almost a half marathon! Clearly not a must-have, but it did help me not have to pull my cell out on the Tube around a ton of people to check directions and time.

10. My Adidas Originals - You know that 22k step day I mentioned? This is how I survived it without a single blister or foot ache. I love these shoes so much! They're gold and match everything and even bring a little stylish edge. Everyone over there wears tennis shoes (usually black ones) because you walk so much, so these are worth the $80 tag.

BAGS:

A Backpack - Full transparency, this backpack didn't come in time for me to take it with me, but I've been carrying it ever since (thanks Brette for the recco!) and can't get enough of it. If Sully had come along I would definitely have ordered this pink one and may still! My Louis Speedy with strap was perfect for the travel though because when the strap began to pull on my shoulder, I could move and hold it in my hands, which was also great for safety. We're actually in the market for new, larger suitcases if you have a recommendation! My favorites so far are here (I have the carryon size), here (confetti!) and here (#luggagegoals).

WHAT NOT TO PACK:

What I shouldn't have packed were heels and flats (even though I wore them one day when I was feeling brave, bad choice). Also, I didn't wear a single dress and I LOVE a good dress. We tubed everywhere so even out to eat I had on pants because it was too cold. Workout gear - yep, I admit I didn't hit the hotel gym a single day, but I feel good about all the walking and stair climbing we did naturally :). Plus, wearing yoga pants out and about is not a thing over there. It was good for the plane and that's about it.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE:

Currency exchange was another thing - if you have time and your bank offers it, get pounds from them there before you go. You may have to call your bank in advance to make sure they have the currency you need. We did this with euros when we went to France and Italy and it was great. On this trip though, time didn't allow and we just brought US dollars with us to London and exchanged it at the best exchange station we could find (they're everywhere so don't fear).

CELL PHONE:

Finally, I got questions on my cell and data while over there. I opted to upgrade to Verizon's international data DAILY plan. So once I notified them and turned on international data, it charged me $10/day and just went off my already existing plan. I still had to be careful and turn data roaming off though because my data was used up by early evening when it was constantly on. Wi-fi will be your friend and luckily it is almost everywhere in London.

{ONE} Lake Pajamas

Do you guys own a pair of these? I got a shorts set earlier this year and then for Christmas got a long sleeve and pants set and I'm not being dramatic - these have altered my nighttime stress level unlike anything else! I don't' know how to explain the fabric and wear of them, they're just divine and I can't wait to crawl into them at night. Plus, I'm 30 now, I feel like I should wear proper jammies every now and then :).

{TWO} My PillowGrace Pillow

You may be noticing a theme here, but I'm really trying to get a better nighttime routine down which includes good sleep. Enter my PillowGrace pillow which contains some of my favorite verses of scripture and is so comfortable. {THREE} Pink Ugg Slippers

I couldn't mention a nighttime routine without some good slippers. I've been holding on to a gold JCrew pair for some time and took some birthday money and upgraded to these pink Ugg slippers that I'd been eyeing for quite some time. They just make me so happy!

{FOUR} LaNeige Water Mask

I posted on Insta that I had received a lot of samples of this water mask that you wear overnight and wah off in the morning. Holy moly, y'all sure love it too! It's just so nice to put on a mask and sink into bed, no drying out or getting up to wash it off. I ordered the full size and the brand's lip mask and love them both so far.

{FIVE} The Headspace App

This app isn't new news, but I'm surprised at how many people haven't tried it yet. If you have those nights where you just can't shut your brain off, meditate via the Headspace app. I fall soundly asleep every single time I use it y'all. Not to mention, I love to do some of their longer exercises when taking a bath with my French Girl bath salts.

2018 Reading Bucket List

Every other weekend during my childhood I had to spend time in a place that I didn't quite love. It never felt like "home" and there was often so much taunting, imbalance and unfamiliarity. Whenever I could get away with it, I would tiptoe when no one was looking to the bookshelf and pluck a Nancy Drew novel off the shelf and escape. Away I would run through wooded trails and creaking buildings with each turn of the crisp, weathered page. That was my happy place.

Fast forward 20 years and I had found myself turning to books again for a little escape in 2017. This time though, I loved the life I was "escaping" from, but still needed the brain break to read and get inspiration. It was so refreshing getting back into reading!

Now here I am in 2018 asking for your recommendations for this year. You had some great ones when I asked on Instagram! I also found some from other resources that I'd been eyeing for awhile. I also thought I would share a little about the books I loved and didn't love in 2017. Leave any other suggestions for me in the comments or message me on Instagram!

First off, here are some of the places I love finding new reads: Grace at The Stripe's Monthly Reading Lists, Reese Witherspoon's Book Club, House of Harper, A Beautiful Mess, Man Repeller Book Club, Pinterest and recommendations on Audible where I end up listening/reading to a lot of my books in the car. I was also recommended to Good Reads (by CambronElsey) and Book of the Month Club (by ImMristenM) which I plan to check out this year.

So without further adieu, here is my 2018 Reading Bucket List - IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER! I also have to mention that it's a funny mix of #bossbabe books, self-help (my word of the year is WELLNESS) and fiction for a fun break.

1. Invisible Influence by Jonah Berger - Explores why we do the things we do, from purchases to what we eat! I've heard great things about this author.

2. The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine (recommended by Kellyrenegar, TheNashvilleMom and SherritHacker) - Currently "reading" via Audible and y'all WHAT is happening?! I'm a few chapters in and hooked.

3. Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod - I bought this last year, but loaned it out from self-help book overload. I'm excited to dig into it this time around!

4. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson - This one was shared with me from friend and fellow Mama biz owner Melissa. After having to learn the hard way how to grow a thick skin this year, I think this is just what I need.

5. The Dinner by Herman Koch - The Wall Street Journal described it as the European Gone Girl. Enough said :).

6. Goodbye Vitamin by Rachel Khong - Named best book of the year by NPR, O, The Oprah Magazine and more. About the comedic and rollercoaster ride of a woman moving home in her 30s after recently becoming disengaged to her fiance.

7. Eleanor Oliphant by Gail Honeyman (recommended by CambronElsey) - Cambron is one of my closest friends so I trust anything she sends my way! Plus, Reese Witherspoon is producing it as a film. Sold.

8. Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann (recommended by GraceFrederickDesign) - Believe it or not, I've never read this 50-year-old classic!

9. The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan (recommended by Meg_Irvin) - About a woman in her mid-thirties living in that "sliver of time when parenthood and childhood overlap".

10. South of Broad by Pat Conroy - I'm actually currently reading this in paperback right now. I picked it up after reading a couple chapters at a beach house this summer. I forgot how much I love Pat Conroy and his signature southern style of writing, especially as we get deeper into life in Charleston.

11. The Vanity Fair Diaries by Tina Brown - These are Tina's diary entries during her eight years as Vanity Fair's Editor. It's the perfect nonfiction addition to mix this list up!

12. The Secrets She Keeps by Michael Robotham (recommended by SherritHacker) - The intersection of two pregnant women in different classes in London.

13. The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkenen - I had to take a suspense/thriller break for awhile and now I'm ready for another one!

14. Braving the Wilderness by Brené Brown - I got to see Brené speak at SXSW a couple years ago and this sounds dramatic, but she changed my life. I can't wait to dig into her latest novel! If you haven't watched or heard her speak or read one of her books, but that at the top of your list NOW.

15. Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht - A PR go-to girl who spent 17 years at DKNY shares her stories and advice.

16. The Four by Scott Galloway - Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google are the big four. This book deconstructs how they got where they are and became what they are today.

17. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (recommended by JenningsMoody and Ally_Kerl) - A Pulitzer Prize winner and I know anything Jay and Ally recommend is bound to be great!

18. Cancel the Wedding by Carolyn T. Dingman (recommended by girlmeetsbow) - Gentry is one of my favorite bloggers and recommended this novel. If you can't tell from my other selections and my #1 read of 2017, I LOVE a southern novel and this one is based in Georgia about two sisters fulfilling their mother's last wish.

19. Mister Owita's Guide to Gardening by Carol Wall (recommended by Meg_Irvin) - A true story! A white woman encounters and learns from an African American gardener.

20. A Simplified Life by Emily Ley - I swear by my Simplified Planner designed by Emily Ley and loved watching her Simplified Live series on Facebook. I'm already through the intro and first chapter here and can't wait to jump in more as I continue to simplify our home this year.

Beatriz Williams novels (recommended by South of Libbie) - I just haven't figured out which one I want to read yet!

30 Things For My 30th!

Christmas Eve marked my 30th birthday! Wowza, THIRTY! To my younger self that number sounds old, but in reality, I've been looking forward to joining the thirty club.

Owning your own business and being a Mom to a bustling two-year-old lend yourself to most people thinking you're older anyhow. Then when they find out you're in your 20s, it's crazy how quickly they discredit you or scoff. So bring it on y'all!

We're big fans of always celebrating birthdays anyway, no matter the age. The fact that God has blessed us with another year on earth with the people we love is certainly worth celebrating.

While sometimes sparse :), this little blog was created to document and journal our life. So on the last day of my 29th year, I wrote this post and now am happy to share 30 things with you in the new year. Yep, "things", pretty vague, but I had a mix of things to share from things I've learned to things I've done to things I love.

Here ya are... 30 "Things" :)

1. The last meal I had in my 20s was sushi (tuna) rolls from Locals. Our fav sushi spot here in Mt. Pleasant!

2. I asked for donations to the Diaper Bank of Charleston this year in lieu of gifts. I'd love your support! Just add a pack to your Amazon cart from my list and they'll be sent my way to bundle and deliver to Moms and babies in need.

3. The day I was born, Christmas Eve 1987, wasn't all tinsel and jingle bells. It's a long story, but my Mom was 16 when I was born which, if you think about it... would be quite stressful for both a 16-year-old becoming a Mom and her parents. :) I'm so proud of my Mom for having the courage to bring me into this world and do what's best for me from such a young age. And so grateful to my Nana and Papa who support my Mom's dreams and mine.

4. Fun enough though, I came home in a really large velvet and silk stocking. I still pull out that stocking today and actually used it recently for client photoshoots!

5. We've owned three homes and rented four others throughout three different states (SC, VA, DC).

6. I don't think of myself as well traveled, but now that I go to write it down... I've had the pleasure of visiting Germany, Italy (Positano is our absolute favorite place + Pompeii is unbelievable), France, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas and in the US of course South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, DC and also NYC, Maryland, Illinois, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, California, Washington, Kentucky, Tennesse, Alabama, Ohio, Massachusets, New Jersy and Delaware. Plus flown through or driven through many other states and countries (like Russia and Iceland).

7. Our daughter's name is Sullivan Louise and at the time I didn't think we had a reason for the Sullivan (at least no family tie) until someone pointed out that "Sullivan"s has always been on my heart. We always knew we wanted to get back to Charleston and now we live 5 minutes from Sullivan's Island with our sweet Sully Lou. The Louise is family, it's my Nana's middle name.

8. Speaking of Nana, I lived with her and Papa until I was 6 when my Mom graduated from Clemson and married my (step)Dad. My room at Nana's house is still intact with my Little Mermaid sheets and Puff The Magic Dragon handpainted on the wall. Watching my daughter now play in that room gives me #allthefeels.

9. It's impossible for me to choose one favorite anything. Here are my tops though... Movies - Little Mermaid, Moulin Rouge, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Steel Magnolias and Sweet Home Alabama. Songs - Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston, American Honey by Lady Antebellum, Good Day by Nappy Roots, Cabin by the Sea by Dirty Heads. Food - Raw tuna, raw salty oysters, donuts.

10. My happy place is on a beach or in a foreign place with my husband.

11. I rode a female horse named Ralph growing up. We mostly rode English, but good 'ol western trail riding is another happy place for me.

12. My husband and I met at the Carolina Cup horse race. I literally bumped into him (with my rear end haha) while he was bending down to get a beer out of a cooler. Ten months later we were engaged and the rest is history!

13. Pinckney Palm is the name of my social media agency here in Charleston. The Pinckney comes from Eliza Lucas Pinckney, who, if you ask me, was the original #bossbabe. The Palm comes from the joy the palms lining my beloved city give me each day.

14. The best meal of my life was at Blackberry Farm in Tennessee.

15. Back in my event planning days, I had the pleasure of orchestrating an event where Maya Angelou was the speaker. Spending time in her presence behind the scenes with a local choir was something I'll never forget. Grace and kindness filled every ounce of the room when she was present.

16. When I was in elementary school, we were invited to the White House for a special Christmas tour because my Mom's architecture firm had an ornament on the official tree.

17. After a particularly fun trip to Las Vegas, I awoke one morning to a phone full of messages. There was my photo at the top of the Daily Mail's e-newsletter and in an article online after being seen hanging out with Wilmer Valderrama. It was a fun night and he was a gentleman, despite what the article claimed. My one second of fame, ha!

18. I was Miss Cheerleader of South Carolina in 2005.

19. Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent in my grandparent's backyard riding in the wheelbarrow and searching for golf balls, picking fresh raspberries from their garden, digging for worms while Nana gardened and swimming in the pool. Sully got to experience the garden and a Papa walk while we were home last time!

20. Right before I got engaged, my Dad sent my Mom and me on a whirlwind trip to NYC before I was off and married to Ryan. Now I can't wait to take Sully on a Mommy/Daughter trip to NYC!

21. Pink is my favorite color. Shocker.

22. My daughter was born on the Lilly for Target sale day (her actual due date!) and we're pretty sure that's why I went into labor - we stayed up to shop it right at midnight and the site kept crashing. It was stressful y'all!

23. All my life I was told I was terrible at math and couldn't do anything remotely close to it as a career. While that may be partially true ;), I went on to work for the number eight bank in the US. Don't let anyone tell you who you are - you know your capabilities and worth.

24. Speaking of things I've learned in 30 years... Happiness is a choice. It's not based on circumstances. Period. Choose Happiness Y'all!

25. Luck is not a thing - being blessed by God, yes. But, hard work is hard work and it will pay off. So will kindness.

26. Everything happens for a reason. I strongly believe that. If I can't begin to grasp the reason for something (and there's been a lot this year that I can't seem to grasp) then I remind myself that I'm a mere human and God is SO much bigger.

27. Put it in God's hands. When you're stuck, sad, happy, overwhelmed. Put it in God's hands. He always, always, always provides. Always.

28. My husband is the light of my life and my rock. Ryan Alexander Phillips - you're my Prince Charming and all the other hokey, lovey-dovey things. Thank you for making almost every year in my 20s the best yet (we met when I was 21 and he was 20).

29. Pinckney Palm is actually the second business I launched. Back in Greenville, I ran a successful cake baking business called Gilded Pastry.

30. This blog was first called The Married Appetite and was written by me and Ryan back in 2011 to document all our culinary adventures and recipes. At the time, I had Le Creuset as a client, so blogging about the food world was a no-brainer.

Ok one little bonus, I can't help it. I seriously doubt anyone has read this far. Except for my Mom - hey Mom! :)

Finally, I have to celebrate a big moment from each year in my 20s...

2008 - Age 20, I took a class at Clemson where I was required to start a blog and then an account on a little thing called Twitter. Fast forward 10 years and I operate my own social media agency!
2009 - Age 21, Met my husband and moved to Charleston, SC
2010 - Age 22, Got engaged on the Clemson football field and graduated from Clemson
2011 - Age 23, Got married in Greenville, SC
2012 - Age 24, Bought our first house in Greenville, SC
2013 - Age 25, Moved to Richmond, VA and bought our second home
2014 - Age 26, Pregnant with Sully Lou
2015 - Age 27, Sullivan Louise was born in April and we moved to Washington, DC
2016 - Age 28, Moved to Charleston, SC and bought our third home
2017- Age 29, Launched Pinckney Palm, hired our first employee and are moving into our own office space in downtown Charleston

My November 2017 Goals!

Hey November! I'm pretty stoked to see you, October was a bit of a doozie over here, not even gunna lie :).

I was tracking my goals here on the blog as a way of accountability and in a funny way, another route of documenting our lives. While my goals have shifted dramatically since the beginning of the year now with owning my own business, I find tracking them SO helpful. I'm excited to get back to putting them on the blog!

The Powersheets by Lara Casey from Cultivate What Matters are my goal guide and planner of choice. They just launched the new ones, so run and get them before they sell out now!

How the system usually works for me is that I look at my calendar towards the end of a month and before a new one starts. I jot down important things already on the calendar, big things I want to get done and then there's a spot for "I'm Excited For..." which I love so that I don't get bogged down in the heavy "to do" list. I also go back to the beginning of my Powersheets and check in on my big 10 goals I set when I started to make sure I'm working towards them. I use my iCal and Simplified Planner to track things on my calendar daily/weekly (a Sunday prep post is coming soon!).

Y'all - I have NO time to be doing this kind of thing, but it's amazing what an hour or two on the couch while Ry is watching TV can do for our whole month. We're such happier people because we plan and don't have surprises (which = stress)!

My one focal goal for the month is: Invest

I feel like this month is going to be a month of just going all in and investing in all I want to cultivate and get done before the holidays and really, the end of the year. I want to be able to enjoy time "off" (you're never really off in social media)!!! Plus, we're making some big investments in my business, go to today's post on my business Instagram to see one of them!

The Powerseets break things down into Monthly, Weekly and Daily Goals. I'm not going to share alllll of mine with you because that would be A LOT in this one post, but here are the personal ones I want to get done (I left out the boring work ones)!

NOVEMBER 2017 GOALS

Figure out my 30th birthday plans (+ write a long sappy post on it 😂) - My birthday is Christmas Eve and all of our plans we've tried to make thus far have fallen through because of a busy year-end calendar. Any suggestions?

POTTY TRAIN & NEW BIG GIRL BED!

Declutter Sully's room + Start her big girl book! These go hand in hand because there are 1 drawer and 2 boxes of "stuff" from her little life that I need to go through and organize/document.

Send Christmas cards + chip away at gifts.

Welcome my bestie back home to South Carolina!!!!!!!! Y'all I am SO pumped about this one! After five years, my bestie is moving home to Greenville from San Diego. She recently had a precious baby boy who I can't wait to be closer to and have Sully love on. What should I do to really welcome her home well?!

Switch out winter clothes.

Finally get the kitchen lights up! Bain of my existence y'all.

Sunday prep - calendar, meals and financials. Like I mentioned, post coming soon on this process.

Tend to the garden and get it ready for winter.

Blog 2X/week at least.

Do Sully's journal/Write the Word each week. I decided to combine two goals in one and make my Write the Word journal a journal for Sully to document her life and my thoughts for her. My Mom did this for my siblings (and some for me) and it's neat to be able to look back and learn about our life through her eyes.

Daily scripture. I use this book and love it, it's super short passages and is dates so I can usually get it done. I leave it on my bedside table for first thing in the AM.

Enjoy Clemson weekend with all our favorites!

Gah this has me SO excited for November! It is a lot, but like my word of the month, I'm investing. I'm going all in on getting things done now so I can enjoy the holidays.

That second bullet is a big one - do you guys have any advice for me for potty training?! AND moving her into a big girl bed?

{TWO} A Nurse Shares the 5 Regrets of the Dying

I mean, woah, right?! This article is really powerful you guys and hit home with me this week after coming out of a season of sheer craziness.

I mean y'all, two of my closest friends had birthdays in October and I couldn't get my head out of the sand enough from work to hit send on my messages and calls to them. That's really bad. This article was a wakeup call to get things in check... especially considering #2 is that they wish they hadn't worked so hard and #4 is that they wish they had kept in touch with friends.

{THREE} My "can't live without" leggings - now in a new color!

When I was recovering from my c-section with Sully, these Lululemon full panel leggings were literally my saving grace. I didn't even have to wear all the bandaging because they held it all together so well :).

I've been waiting for them to re-release the scalloped bottom style and they finally have! And this time in a dreamy dark teal color that I can't seem to take off. I mean y'all - I dream about getting home and putting on these leggings HAHA! Does anyone else do that?!

How is it Friday?! Does anyone else feel this way? My week is SO thrown off from being gone Sunday-Wednesday of this week for The Southern C Retreat. Which, btw, was awesome (more on that later)!

Yet here we are at Friday, so I thought I would share five things I'm loving this week!

{ONE} Lilly for the boys!

Want to know one of the only reason why I didn't want a boy when I was preggers (yes, I really did want a boy at first)? Because... Lilly wasn't making boy clothes. UNTIL NOW! They've just released a collection of a print that is so fun and called "Guac and Roll" and has mens and boys items. See it all here!

My favorites from this limited collection are these Mens Shorts, these Girls Bow Leggings and this little Boys Bowtie.

{TWO} My new favorite "cool girl" dress.

When I was packing for The Southern C Retreat, I was faced with the dilemma of it being fall, but traveling to a beachy paradise in 30A Florida surrounded by the most fashionable clan.

I found this dress on Shopbop and the floral print and short, flouncy frills made it appropriate for a summery setting, but the black backdrop and long sleeves helped it also transition to fall. Not to mention, it is extremely flattering!

Paired with my nude gladiator sandals and tassel, very pale blush earrings and it was a success!

{THREE} Ever heard of emotional labor? This is a must-read.

One of my favorite blogs, Lemon Stripes, wrote a post about this article in her post here. It was a huge "aha" moment y'all.

Please, please know that I 100% believe that I have the world's most amazing husband, and he splits everything 50/50 since we both work full-time jobs. I'm so very blessed!

This article helped me understand my frustration and give a name to the state in which I've fallen so many times though.

{FOUR} The perfect ruffled sweater.

I'm dreaming of cooler weather and this ruffle sweater is not only at the top of my fall weather wish list, but also on sale under $50 right now!

{FIVE} Catherine is a Southern Weddings/Cultivate What Matters team member!

If you're a frequent reader of this little blog then you're familiar with my friend Catherine of Classic Catherine, especially from this post. She welcomed us to DC when we first moved there (I don't know what I would have done without her y'all!) and has visited us here in Charleston as well.

I'm so excited that the cat (no pun intended) is out of the bag and her announcement that she's now a member of the Southern Weddings and Cultivate What Matters team went live on their blog. She also wrote a wonderful post on her blog here too. I remember praying for her so often during the interview process. It's clear God has big plans for this sweet friend and Mama and I can't wait to follow along on her journey!

Fall 2017 Bucket List

It is officially Fall and while it won't feel like it until a while from now here in Charleston, that didn't stop our little family from jotting down a Fall 2017 bucket list!

You'll see a lot of these floating around in the blogging world this time of year, but I thought I would make ours pretty specific so we actually take action and go do these things vs. just "visit a pumpkin patch".

{ONE} Attend a Clemson Game

I cheated a tad on this one because we have not only one, but TWO Clemson games already on our calendar! I'm so excited you guys!!! This is the first time we live close enough to actually fit two games in this year. Even better - Sully is coming to at least the first one with us which is homecoming.

You guys have no idea how giddy I am to enjoy Clemson traditions with her! The little things like the homecoming floats, the football players running down the hill, the balloons released into the air, an Esso meal, tailgating and getting a tiger paw painted on her cheek and so much more have me ecstatic!

{TWO} DIY Sully's Halloween Costume

I had so much fun doing this for her last year with her DIY Flamingo Costume! It's something my Nana did for me and I love doing it for my little girl. I'm thinking either Princess Poppy from Trolls or an ice cream cone this year... what do you guys think?!

{THREE} Go to the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch

Visiting an orchard or pumpkin patch is really high on my fall list every year. Remember how cute Sully was in her 6 months old photos at a pumpkin patch visit?! This year, I've decided on the Boone Hall Plantation pumpkin patch as our destination. I'm sure it will be crazy crowded, but I can't wait to share in the joy with Sully (are you seeing a trend here?)!

{FOUR} Decorate the Front Porch

I've already started on this one with a few pumpkins Ry grabbed for me at Trader Joes. Now I'm thinking of hay bales, our Halloween decor, a fun wreath and anything we find at the pumpkin patch (above).

{FIVE} Bake Pumpkin Coffee Cake

Ever since discovering a recipe for pumpkin coffee cake in this 5 on Friday, I've been dying to bake it this fall! Stay tuned to Instagram Stories to see how it turns out.

{SIX} Host a Chili Cookoff

We've been looking for a way to invite the neighbors over and have a little celebration. What better than some friendly competition mixed in too? Ry and I have already started talking about a plan to host a chili cookoff this season.

Any tips for us? How many chilis should we have? How should people vote? Have a favorite recipe?

{SEVEN} Find the Perfect Pumpkin Candle

I've really struggled with this so far this season y'all! I thought I found the one, only to have Ry say it was "too pumpkin-y". Haha! I've heard good things about the Nest one... any other suggestions?

That's it, which is actually a lot I feel like! Other things I want to do before winter is get in some beach time, a bike ride, finish planting the other garden bed for fall/winter and also finalize our plans for the front porch renovation (more coming on that later).

Hey there gals and guys, any fellow bookworms amongst us?!

I had a goal in September to get back to reading and with a book club and lots of time in the car with Audible, I'm happy to say I read FOUR books this month and the month isn't even over! {insert mini victory dance, most likely to the Trolls soundtrack}

Since I was so successful in this goal (not so much in some others, more to come here), I thought I would share a review of each of them with you today!

{ONE} Cultivate by Lara Casey

If you follow me on Insta Stories you know I actually finished this book at the car wash on Saturday (ha!). I was really excited about this one from the moment I heard Lara Casey was releasing it, following her first book Make It Happen (although you don't need to read it before Cultivate).

I even led a small group here in Charleston as we worked our way through it together. We got a little thrown off by the hurricane, but are going to do a grand finale celebration in a couple weeks!

So what's my official review?

Not to be dramatic, but... this book might have just changed my life y'all! No seriously. It was the first time I got messy and wrote in almost every single margin. I actually would be quite weirded out if anyone ever got ahold of my copy and read it, it's like a diary at this point.

If you're looking for something to bring you closer or back to God, something to reshift your focus on the things that matter in your life and something to make you feel not so alone in your own head - this is the something for you.

It takes time to work through it and you really only can go chapter by chapter because Lara's just dropping so much knowledge and goodness on you :). Bottom line...

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

{TWO} Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner

Much like Cultivate, this book has the same woven thread of focusing on what matters in life.

The way that Erin writes is refreshing and humorous. Almost to the point where you have to stop and say, "woah, wait, that is so good" because her lessons are so deeply hidden and not preachy at all (neither are Lara's).

I started reading the copy of the book I owned here at home and then bought the Audible version with one of my monthly credits so I could make sure I finished it before The Southern C Retreat where Erin is speaking. I think I did myself a disservice here. So on this one I say...

RECOMMEND

IF reading yourself, not on Audible. I would also say to space out this one and Cultivate if you want to read both.

{THREE} The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I'll just start out by saying, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I "read" it in 48 hours y'all (via Audible and with thanks to hurricane traffic).

If you're looking for a light and mysterious book to read, pick up this one next. I haven't read into the inspiration for this novel at all, but I feel like it's a mix between what could have been a story of Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe. It will really make you think about the ins and outs of Hollywood love stories.

It jumps between modern day via the perspective of journalist Monique Grant who is interviewing the world's largest film star, Evelyn Hugo (now in her 80s) and then Evelyn's perspective throughout her life as she tells her story. You'll be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out the connection between Evelyn and Monique the whole book.

See, Monique is a no-name journalist who Evelyn has precisely sought out to write her life story. So you'll be asking "Why Monique?" when Evelyn could have picked the world's best journalist? As Evelyn's life unfolds, you get closer and closer to the reason(s) why Evelyn lured Monique into her home and into each other's lives forever.

This was one I really enjoyed on Audible. Hope you enjoy it too, no matter which way you read the book! Just in case you missed it above...

{FOUR} Class Mom by Laurie Gelman

This was my least favorite book this month and one I wanted to really enjoy. Don't you hate when that happens?

It's about a Mom who has already had two girls go through elementary and middle school and now has a younger boy in kindergarten. She's talked into being class Mom and via snarky emails and sneaky plots (including chocolate brownies on picture day), ends up getting fired from the job only to earn it back again.

Funny, yes, but not the depth in storyline or good enough twist at the end if you ask me. That said, I think I would have enjoyed it more if 1. I had or had had children in elementary school and 2. If I hadn't listened to it on Audible.

Sadly, on this one...

{ONE} Pom Pom Mule Sneakers

Let's jump into some #realtalk. And by real talk I mean, can this Mama pull off these slip-on mule sneakers with pom poms? Or will I just feel ridiculous and like I'm trying to be cute and hip?!

For real, let me know, I've gone back to them a few times, but just can't quite decide!

{TWO} The Best Clutch!

I have fallen hard. This clutch is EVERRRRRYTHING!

It folds over, has a pocket, has a zipper section, magnetizes shut, has the most classic black and white palm print and is made here in Charleston. In fact, it's made by my awesome suitemate and office buddy Emily of Suite 33. And no, she did not pay or ask me to say any of the above :).

{FIVE} Long Wrap Cardigan

Last week we talked about pumpkin everything, so this week I'm sharing this perfect cardigan to go with your pumpkin coffee cake, pumpkin candle and pumpkin spice latte. #BasicBsUnite.

Look closely when you jump over to Nordstrom to take a peek, it actually has buttons and you can wear it open or snap it closed up around your neck as seen in the photo.

That's a wrap (no pun intended on the above ;))! This is our last weekend in town before I'm gone or we're all out of town or have guests in town for the next FIVE WEEKS! I hope I can survive this season of busy, phew!

Toddler Fall Style

Do any other Mamas get sad cleaning out their child's closet when the seasons and sizes change? With every fold, I remember fun memories and firsts in the outfits and low and behold... always manage to cry at the reminder of how precious time is with our little lady.

I think because of this, I had let things really pile up in Sully's closet and drawer over the last year. She still had 18-24 month clothes in her closet y'all 😳. So I mustered up the strength and did a big clean out. Once I was done, she was left with a few summer things in 3T and a few 4Ts peppered throughout.

So online I headed to find some fall inspiration for toddler's and check out the latest lines from my favorite kid's brands like Mini Boden, Smocked Auctions, Toddler Gap, Crewcuts by JCrew, Carter's and Nordstrom Kids (they also carry Mini Boden and I love the Tea Collection).

We're putting together a fall bucket list (which I can't wait to share with you!), I broke out the first pumpkin candle of the season and donned my first scarf of the season too. Fall is almost here y'all!

Does anyone else feel like fall truly starts when college football begins? No matter the weather, that's what does it for me usually. GO TIGERS!

{ONE} The Perfect Pumpkin Candle

This is a no brainer, but putting the smell of pumpkin and fall in the air is a great signal to get this fall party started. After much sniffing, I'm currently burning this one, but have heard awesome things about this fancy pumpkin candle. Ok, and can we talk about how cute this one is and how it doubles as the perfect decor.

{THREE} Fall Reading

I kind of love lists... so in addition to our fall bucket list, I've started a fall reading list. First up was this novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Maybe I'll do a full review on it, but for now know that I "read" (I had the audio book for the car ride home from Greenville) it within 48 hours. It's pretty liberal, but really good and kept me guessing, with a surprise twist right at the end.

{FIVE} Tuckernuck's Fall Trend Report

I keep going back to all of Tuckernuck's fall styles, especially every one seen in this trend report. These may be my top three favorites though:

I love this ruffled floral shirt! I'm also digging the color of these more relaxed flare jeans with the girlier top.

I can't explain to you how in love with this leopard wrap skirt I became the minute I saw it! All the heart eyes y'all!!!

Pink is my signature color, HA! But seriously, if I was to choose a signature color it might just be the color of this dress. Not just the color alone gets me, I love a fit and flare and a bell sleeve y'all!

{BONUS} Lady Planter

I felt like I had to throw this one in as a bonus because it's not technically fall themed. It's the lady planter from Oh Joy! for Target and I just think it's fabulous. I can't wait to put a little baby palm in it for my office!

5 On Friday: Barbie Artwork, My Fav Dress & Justin Timberlake Lullabies!

Hi guys, what a Friday! As I'm typing this post, we've evacuated to Greenville, SC from Charleston for Hurricane Irma. We heard mandatory evacuation might start tomorrow, so we decided to get out while things weren't insane.

It's sad y'all and it makes my heart heavy. Like, really heavy. Especially after seeing what happened so recently in Houston. I think of all the people and businesses this is going to affect. I hurt for the animals left behind and the people who don't have the means to get out. I wonder what's going to happen to our home we've worked so hard on this past year. I'm nervous it's going to take days to get back home. And months and months for our city to recover. See, some pretty heavy thoughts over here today.

But ya know what, I'll be safe in Greenville with my family. And that's what matters. I taped this quote from Lara Casey's book Cultivate to my computer awhile ago and I'm trying to remember it today:

"I CAN ALWAYS TRUST AN UNKNOWN FUTURE TO A KNOWN & NEVER CHANGING GOD." - Lara Casey

I'm just going to keep repeating that over these next few days.

{ONE} Vintage Ken & Barbie Artwork

I'm always on the hunt for artwork that's fun and inspiring to fill my office and home. When I saw this artwork from Vintage Ken and Barbie on Look Linger Love's Coral House account (which you should 100% check out because it's the most beautiful Bahamas home), I had to investigate further.

The artist and photographer's name is David Parise, go check out his Instagram! Here he is in action:

How fun is it, you guys?! Yes, some of it may be a little too out there for some people. I think this one may just be my choice of the bunch:

{TWO} My New Favorite Work Dress

I picked up this Lush dress not too long ago when I was looking for a neutral and under $50 option for a speaking engagement. And I can't take it off y'all! I am OBSESSED!

It's got the perfect amount of structure, a nice sleeve and is just flowy enough. I have the Bleached Sand color which is perfection, although I will tell you that you have to wear nude undergarments ;). I'm seriously considering also buying it in Navy and Red too.

{THREE} Clairebella Studio's Leopard Coral Wallpaper

I discovered this wallpaper randomly on Instagram (@clairebellastudio) and have been dreaming about it ever since. We've got a guest bathroom that while updated, is begging for some personality with its white granite, neutral walls and all white everything else. This may be just the thing to put in the sink nook for a fun update!

{FOUR} Acure Citrus Ginger Moroccan Argan Oil

I've fallen a tad in love with oils, especially adding them to my moisturizer or massaging them directly onto my face pre-moisturizer if I need an extra level of hydration. I even add them to damp hair to prevent dead ends, here's the one I use. The face oil I started using though was a bit expensive, so when I ran out, I was on the hunt for less expensive, but still effective, version. Enter Acure oils.

At only $12, natural and fresh citrusy scented, it's love! I discovered them through Grove Collaborative, which I cannot recommend enough! It's how I get all my household and most of my skin care and Sully products. I trust their products are natural and not harmful. Plus, they're cheaper than buying the same brands at Target. Win, win.

{FIVE} Justin Timberlake Lullabies

Yes, you read that right. This one is for my Mama friends. Rockabye Baby which takes popular songs and turns them into lullabies has an all Justin Timberlake lullaby album. Think things like Bye, Bye, Bye, SexyBack and even Sully's Trolls movie favorite, Can't Stop the Feeling. I heard about this from Julia, the wonderful blogger behind Lemon Stripes. Clemson Game Day Outfits for the Family!

College football has ARRIVED!!!!! I'm seriously so pumped y'all. I've always been a college football gal, more specifically a Clemson football gal. We're a family of Clemson graduates and Ryan even proposed to me on the Clemson football field because it just means so much (thank goodness not during a game).

We were unfortunately stuck at home with a sick baby girl (double ear infection, yuck) during the first game, so we did our own little tailgate. This then led me to jumping online to check out some new game day gear for us all, so I thought I would share with you today!

Ryan immediately chimed in with what he was in need of this year, a Clemson polo. The ones by Peter Milar are his favorite.

This one is just a classic with the purple stripe and traditional paw.

This is my favorite and only available in-store at MH Frank, but I think we'll call and see if we can snag one this year.

I also love that Southern Tide is doing Clemson shirts, I love this white one for something a little more neutral.

This is his go-to pullover that he probably will wear nearly every game (because we won the National Championship when he was wearing it, ha). Does anyone else have superstitious beaus?!

For Sully, it's a little harder because there's not a ton of non-tacky :) little girls Clemson or true purple and orange tiger outfits. Here is my favorite find this time around though from Etsy:

Clemson Tiger Paw Seersucker Bubble

This is my favorite dress from last year that I'm going to try and fit her in again. I do like Vive La Fete for Collegiate toddler and baby clothes.

Fanatics has its mix of cute (and tacky!) Clemson clothes, I do love this purple gingham dress:

Have y'all heard of this company Primary? It's all solid basics for kids. I love their orange and purple and could see getting it monogrammed or getting a tiger patch put on a few things.

This short sleeve dress is my favorite.

Finally for Sully, because we all know a good southern girl's outfit is not complete without a bow... these are my absolute favorite bows in terms of quality and price.

For me, Stewart Simmons is still at the top of my list from this dress last year. Then I tend to go to lightweight orange dresses. It's still so hot in Clemson in the Fall, so you need lighter dresses in the stands this time of year still.

No surprise here that this is my first favorite thing this week! Lilly FINALLY announced when they're running their After Party Sale. Mark your calendars for not two but THREE days of Lilly madness Monday, August 28th - Wednesday, August 30th.

The sale was on August 22nd last year so I've been waiting for the announcement - I even had someone message me about it on IG the other day!

{TWO} Pink Adidas Sneakers

This week I can't help but talk about the sneakers I'm absolutely living in these days. I picked these up at the employee Adidas store in Portland (thank you Sam!). They're sold out in most places, but I found them here even though a lot of sizes are waitlisted.

They are the most comfortable and stylish sneakers EVER, worth every single penny! I've worn them with jeans, leggings and Norts.

I've shared on Instagram with y'all before that I'm a tea drinker and have fallen head over heels in love with this tea from Harney & Sons. It's the absolute perfect blend of vanilla and citrus to make unsweet tea feel like an indulgence. THE BEST!

Life Update: A Fun Charleston Summer!

Well hello there friends!

It's been quite awhile since my last post sharing the exciting details on my business Pinckney Palm. That was three months ago and my oh my how time has flown by since then!

I thought it only appropriate that I share a BIG update from our summer with you today as an intro back onto the blog. After all, a main reason why I blog is to document life! It's almost like my journal of sorts. Especially with a little one that changes by the minute - so hang on for A LOT of Sully photos! Or really... just photos overall! :)

I bought our above matching Lilly in the last sale (PS: Stay tuned I think the next one's about to happen), but here is a Mama and Mini Lilly match I'm loving right now!

Summer really got started when we crossed another bucket list item off when we attended Jimmy Buffett ON Ryan's birthday of all days!

Off to Clemson we went to celebrate Aunt Maddie's graduation not too far after and it was such a fun day of celebrating! We're so so proud of our sisk! GO TIGERS

Graduation celebrations didn't stop there when we went to Greenville to celebrate Uncle Nick's graduation from Riverside High. How adorbs is this picture y'all?! He just moved into Clemson last week as a college kid, talk about time flying!

Travel was the name of the game because next we were up to Richmond to celebrate one of our favorite couple's weddings - Allie and Bryce. Our whole family was in the wedding and it was honest to goodness one of the most gorgeous weddings I've ever been to and that's saying a lot considering our wedding track record lately ;). More on this later!

We've also loved all of our summer visitors! Aunt Maddie and Uncle John Walter came to visit for some good sibling time, Grandad came down, Nonna and Aunt Ally watched Sully when we traveled, Aunt Mikael and Uncle Tyler swung by and some of our besties, Sarah and James, came down from Richmond. I love living somewhere that people want to visit!

PS: This is my absolute favorite t-shirt, I have it in 3 colors and it's under $25.

How cute is James pulling Sully around Charleston?! She fell asleep in this wagon and loves it for sightseeing and beach riding. It's the best wagon in our opinion!

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Gray Malin whose art I've loved for years and now am so excited to wear on my Sperry shoes he launched here in Charleston!

Another perk of being in Charleston is that our family's beach cottage isn't too far up the road in Garden City, SC. Which meant we could pop up and see Nana and Papa and our Aleshire family when they visited. Sully loves playing with her cousin Lizzie, they're only five months apart!

And how cool is the old picture I took of a picture that's in the cottage?! On the back is my great-great-grandma Sue (who I met when I was a baby!), my great-grandma Virgina (who I lived with partially for a summer) great-grandpa Nick are inside. Then on the front are my great-aunts all in front of the cottage. I love it!

This summer I also had the pleasure of speaking on a panel for Charleston's Social Media Day. It was nerve-wracking at first, but ultimately so much fun!

One weekend that was a highlight this summer was our trip to Hilton Head to visit a few of our friends that live there. Katie and Ryan were amazing hosts and a day on Daufuskiekie island was a highlight for us all!

Unfortunately not so soon after we headed up to Charlotte to see and then celebrate our Grandma Leigh's life. Sully loved singing Old MacDonald's Farm with Grandma Leigh before she passed. And now we have a "Gigi rock" that she carries around and loves to play with in memory of Grandma. So sweet.
