I believe that the "science" behind this is not only do you project to others that you are that management material, by dressing this way but more importantly you project this image to yourself! Doing so changes your vibration.

So today I am prescribing an exercise for attracting wealth, or anything else that you want. We will do this by making your vibration match what you desire. In this case I am using money as the example. You cannot attract money (or anything else) by feeling lack. (Except more lack!)

So think of a time when you had money, or at the very least that you felt secure and happy.... not like the wolf was at your door. What did that feel like? Get into that memory and feel what it felt like. What were the details of the environment? It is important to imagine this in as much detail as you can. Feel how it felt!

Now maybe the time you are imagining was not one of wealth, just relative comfort to where things stand now. That's okay! The idea is to feel how that comfort and security felt. Relish that feeling and expand upon it! Once you are comfortable feeling the comfort imagine that you have more than enough money and no wants whatsoever. Now really get into that feeling! See your self happy and living comfortably!

I am not suggesting here that no work or effort is needed to get to this place; I am merely saying that you will notice that when you do carry this "wealthy feeling" with you things will "coincidentally" lineup to make it happen.

Being in this feeling of having enough, of allowing money into your life raises your vibration to match that. You will find that you actually start to attract money! (This can also work for love as well!)
Practicing this wealthy feeling exercise develops a muscle that resets your vibration. You will no longer give off a feeling of desperation which is not attractive, but instead a feeling of ease, confidence and enough which is very attractive!

You might also repeat daily when you meditate: I am enough, I have enough, I am perfect just the way I am. In this moment I am okay and I have everything that I need. Feel that! Now go forth and attract wealth!

Life is Good!

I love to relax on a summer Sunday morning at my favorite Starbucks with my trusty laptop. There is something about writing in a public place that is invigorating. To my left a pair of 20 something women discussing wedding plans, to my right a graphic artist in conversation with her client. Since ancient times we have plied our crafts in a community setting. I think of a scene from the opera Tosca, set with the artist working on a portrait in the town square.

I bring my own energy as well and my reminisces of yesterday's gathering to celebrate my graduation with a small group of friends and family! I am content with life as I embark on my eight month advanced standing MSW program at Wayne State. Soon I will be up to my eyeballs in reading and seemingly endless papers, which makes this morning even more sweet! Life is good!

Where does your journey take you today?

Me today! In a new life!

I had moved this blog to another site ... but I am back! No less than six years later and another life time! I have been (and continue to be on an amazing journey! I will update this blog as quickly as I can. It is a bit amusing to me that my absence parallels the same kind of absence as the sitcom Arrested Development. I am back from my own "dark period," but not because my life was cancelled by a network and picked up again by Netflix!

No in my case I went on a long and winding journey. In the six years that passed since I last wrote on this blog I upended my life and literally nothing is the same anymore. I am a much happier and self-fulfilled person today than I was six years ago. At that time I was starting a journey. It was a necessary journey but scary at times.

I used to love reading Gail Sheehy's book, Passages. I was anticipating my own midlife crisis. I just didn't know how to get off the Merry-go-round that I had been on all my life. I thought the world would stop turning if I dare put myself first in life! I was sure that if I wasn't careful my life would shatter and then it would never be the same again.... and that's exactly what happened. Thank God!

I did everything I could to try to be the person that I thought others wanted me to be. Finally I had to be who I was. That is not such an easy task when all you've ever done is try to please everyone else. But then discovering who I was turned out to be easier than I could have ever dreamed. There were early stirrings and false starts, but then there was a Qigong class and that led to transformation!

Well not just one class. Over the better part of four years I studied and practiced Qigong for two to three hours a day, sometimes more. When I first found the classes online I was thrilled. Qigong was being taught just five minutes from my house. I was always looking up esoteric practices and they were always being taught on the West Coast or in Europe. But this, this was literally right around the corner. I went and I was hooked.

During that four years I upended my life and changed everything that was no longer serving me. I have a new life now!

So I have been busy dear reader, since last we met! I left a marriage of 30+ years. I've fought and slain dragons and other demons (my own) and found my path! And now I walk proudly as the person I am: A Reiki Master, intuitive coach, graduate level Social work student, business woman, and mother. Life is good!

They had many interesting insights. I especially liked the study that showed that optimistic people were more likely to find the $20 bill on the street than pessimistic people. I related the story to my son in NYC this morning.

He has been having a difficult time with money lately. Anything that could go wrong has, it seems. He had a windfall... an unexpected check arrived when he could really use it! Great, right? Well it would have been, but then it got lost in the mail between Michigan and NYC. The windfall turned into a huge source of aggravation for him.

I told him he should try to visualize things going right. Or seeing himself happy, at least. With all his negativity he was headed for a heart attack before he was thirty!

His check finally turned up, but the post office in Harlem was less than helpful. The local customer service rep in Michigan helped us verify that the letter was in the NY PO. So David stood his ground and insisted that the reluctant clerk, check for it. They found it and he was thrilled.

Then he went to his bank and they told him it would take 4 days to clear. He looked up the bank the check originated from and walked three miles to go there and get it cashed.

As he was walking back he called me and said he was feeling better... that he thought about it and realized that he is living his dream... he is in NYC... doing what he's always wanted to do... and what could be better than that?! As he was walking and talking to me he looked down for some reason and saw something on the ground... it was green... you guessed it... $20 lying on the sidewalk, no one else around... he picked it up. He said he considered it a sign. I do too!

There is nothing wrong with being optimistic! If I have to see a glass half empty or half full, I'll pick half full every time! While the volume of liquid remains the same, the volume of my happiness and the quality of my life is greater as an optimist... and that (as they say in the Mastercard commercials)... is PRICELESS!

A Time of Growth

I have been having what I'll call "growing pains" for a lack of a better description. There have been, and continue to be challenges cropping up for me, but I am choosing to face them head on.

These challenges make me only more aware that my perception is my reality. Likewise, other people have their own perceptions of reality.

I am finding and learning my truth. Sometimes it is like we all have different sunglasses on so we see things a bit differently. I remember this in an advanced writing class. Four of us, all good friends swapped term papers on the same article in Atlantic Monthly. We each had written the paper according to our own truth, from our own angle. It was amazing to see how we could be good friends, with somewhat similar lives and yet have such different views!

I am reminded of this experience now as I write some copy for a friend's business web site, brochures and the such. My friend is a excellent writer... sometimes it hurts to change her words, because they are put together so beautifully. However, the slant is academic. Beautiful but still academic. She needs something that will sell and that is where I come into the picture.

Sometimes we all need an editor like this in life to help us see the events of our lives in a different light. The events are there, but if we can look at them from another angle, we can get a different picture of reality and a better understanding of our life.

We Create Our Own Reality

Reality

Reality is what we take to be true.

What we take to be true is what we believe.

What we believe is based upon our perceptions.

What we perceive depends upon what we look for.

What we look for depends upon what we think.

What we think depends upon what we perceive.

What we perceive determines what we believe.

What we believe determines what we take to be true.

What we take to be true is our reality.

- Gary Zukov from his book, Dancing Wu Li Masters

Miracles Happen!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRwgqirlEjrrVRvRctO1kUIavJS1Pl_nQN7eNovOIKW5GMM4KK8BEG-WbK-3j0CpmMwIMDKKSbZXV1YAMKG-IidLD8OKCMROftbDtigrbB8chkQqd3qh2TLdastpzkY1ff0lGFDpdnH2U/s320/david.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5071303031436155026" />
I was just rereading some of my posts from April. There was so much for him to get in order: a job, an apartment, moving his stuff, working on his school work at AMDA... but he now has an apartment rented, and a job... the next step will be to audition like crazy over the summer and land a role somewhere(Broadway would be nice!) It is an astonishing 12CD set --12 HOURS of Mike Dooley's wit, wisdom, and "take" on the Universe and life in general. I'm listening to it in my car and loving it these wonderful summer-like days in Michigan! (Thanks to my great kids and hubby for the new HD Radio/CD Player!) I think if I lived in NYC I would explore a new neighborhood and walk as far as I could every weekend!

NYC

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuHSwcffm2LllC_JzK8t5SNy77NV0A9w1jWTy2dRIm-omAS3O3BCbLQL28djB08pxue-7EuP77yYniYjsYGLkRaOy_tPGccdevNRZJYJPBJmKLRkcmWURJ3DbGBvx5yRwE0B3jEb5hHrE/s320/DSC00194.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5067580982712670242" />

Before too much time gets away from me I want to post about last weekend. Our trip to NYC was wonderful!

First of all, I must confess that I went to NYC with some trepidation. From months of speaking to my son David, while he is walking to or from classes, I gathered that NY is a noisy place. Maybe even dangerous -- I always hear sirens! Expensive, high stress... I really was beginning to wonder why my son liked it so much!

Well... it was fabulous! I found it to be an over-the-top, crazy kind of town! A town of excesses; who ever heard of spending $36 for breakfast for two at a little diner(Brooklyn Diner)!! I mean the pancakes and eggs where good, but give me a break $36!? That's a fancy lunch for two in Michigan, maybe even dinner!

I also found it to be a town of grieving and rebirth -- ground zero -- was difficult to fathom for me, having never seen the magnificent buildings that once stood at that site. It just looked like a big construction site to me, and I had to remind myself of the terror I witnessed via CNN on that fateful 9/11 so many years ago. David had flown to NY less that a month later, his first trip there was two years earlier, when he was only 16, with an 18 year old friend.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQDKlgMgVOY82Zbmb4el_8lg7oaTiw17VlpD8ybkAtNECyppZZF8bJURtbsf3SedIfG4YP13ChFCicYaQroF7qgZYo9G3PrLl5arEuX6v5zorCSJyTdNHBtOICv1aHGEoVVbdX8adLPbo/s320/DSC00236.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5067579436524443666" />
It is a town of fit people and foot, leg and back pain... all from the enormous amount of walking involved! I hated to take the subway though... I mean it was great to have mass transit... but only being there for a short time I really hated to go underground and miss out on the smells, sights, and sounds, of the wonderful and diverse neighborhoods above. No sooner that my husband and I decided to stop for Chinese food in Chinatown for lunch we found our selves around a corner and in Little Italy! So Italian food became the order of the day! We finally succumbed to the subway after several more blocks, and back to the hotel for a nap!

We were fortunate to get into the David Letterman Show, and saw this great show for -- FREE! So even though the city is expensive; there are things to do for nothing! I am not a fan of tours and feel a personal sense of accomplishment by discovering and exploring on my own, even though any tour I've been on has been very good. I guess I'm cheap... but I also feel like I'm using Cliff notes, or a cheat sheet for a test! I just like to explore on my own more!
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUh5mXXplMM-yVWAnZaxBSydwxhh-HbyKHXQ252esBwEwKAsQQ-Uhpu3owUtfBGxyoLd0prIluEKlSBvO8zH3I11zOOqmLzjVBYerl3uXqfZSdANucQhY-I_YyKa6qhdTW27s3xH78jx8/s200/DSC00242.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5067582163828676658" />
We had dinner with our son, David and his good friend Roy, at Ellen's Stardust Diner in Times Square. It was not exactly what we were expecting, but I found it to be a quaint little community, an oasis in the city, of aspiring talent and American food, seemingly stuck in the 1950's.

Now I understand why my son loves NYC! I do too! It is the center of the universe... but I think it is easier to take in small doses that to live there. But then again there could be worse places to live... Detroit (ahem!)

Credit Card Fraud?

Credit Card fraud is a serious problem, but my recent experience with my credit card company was actually pretty funny.

We have had problems twice in the past with this particular card. The first time a fraudulent charge appeared it was for a funeral home in a very bad part of town. I guess it slipped through undetected by our credit card company, it was for a couple of hundred dollars and might not appear suspicious to someone out side of our metro area. The second time a $5000+ charge appeared for steel... that's right steel! I know I always pick up a few thousand dollars worth of steel on the way home from work... don't you? On that occasion not one but two, similar suspicious purchases were on my bill. Whatever! We straightened it out and all was well.

Imagine my surprise when, on a recent trip to New York, our card was rejected, first at the ATM for a cash withdrawal close to home, and then at our hotel in New York. Upon calling the Credit Card company my husband was told that they had flagged the account for suspicious activity, because it was being used out of town. I had to laugh! Buying $5000 of industrial steel was not suspicious, but traveling to NYC and using the card at (of all places) a hotel was! (I later found out the ATM withdrawal was denied because we have never used the card that way before.) Fair enough... but the hotel being suspicious is just hilarious! As we were sitting in the lobby I overheard my husband saying to the person at the credit card call center, "I didn't know we had to tell you we were going on vacation." Oh yeah, you have to really watch those hotel charges, especially when they are in another town that people actually vacation in!

The Toastmaster Experience

Are you interested in personal development? The old ones were very worn -- with good reason I guess... the warranty ran out about 5,000 miles ago. Regrettably I ended up at Belle Tire. Don't get me wrong... they did a good job putting the tires on. It's just that their trust factor is not very high in my opinion. But I really researched this purchase and they didn't talk me into the highest priced tires.

My friend and client Todd Gulich, of Liberty Tire, was a very valued adviser! I would have loved to purchase my tires from his shop but the Belle Tire is just a couple of miles from my house -- I could walk there if I had to... as opposed to the 20 mile hike to Todd's store. I do highly recommend Todd though, he is knowledgeable and honest. I never get the feeling that he's pushing me into a certain product so he can make more money. (Which is exactly the feeling I get when dealing with the folks at Belle!)

Today they informed me that NOW I will be needing struts to the tune of another $600.00! I took that recommendation with a huge grain of salt. The car drives well -- and even better than before now that it has new tires. I will keep an eye on the struts and get a second opinion before I do anything. I really like this little car... and I have sentimental attachments to it as well, since my Dad's car was the down payment on it after he passed away just over 5 years ago.

The last payment will be made next week! Woo Hoo! Now I just need to get a new radio/CD Player! I will go to Best Buy and get a nice one... maybe XM or HD even... but the main thing I need is the CD Player. I want to listen to my Infinite Possibilities CD's from Mike Dooley and no sooner than I got them, did I discover that the CD Player was dead!

One thing at a time... I'm hoping to get that fixed next month!

Turandot at the DOH

We were fortunate enough to be invited to MOT's dress rehearsal for Turandot this evening. It was delightful! If you are planning to see it you are in for a treat! I just love the beautiful aria in the 3rd act. Don't know opera? You've heard this aria, trust me, it's famous... in fact I think this is the one of the arias you hear in the 1981 movie Moonstruck, with Nick Cage and Cher.

We were invited tonight because, our son David, now 23, was in the children's chorus, for Michigan Opera Theatre, and tonight there was an alumni meeting. David is currently in NYC attending AMDA -- The American Musical & Dramatic Academy. We went to represent him and to say "Hi!" to Susanne Acton, The Children's Chorus Master, for him! It was good to see everyone there! They are working to expand the children's program, which is great, because many of the children that have been involved with MOT have gone on like David to study and pursue professional careers on Broadway or in Opera.

Nancy Florwokski, founder and director, of Motor City Youth Theatre was also there. Her daughter Jenny and David were in several operas together. Jenny is an AMDA alumni and has been in national tours with "42nd Street" and "Cats" and continues to perform professionally and pursue her acting career. It was Nancy's "Redford Youth Theatre" that first introduced David to acting... and he immediately fell in love with theatre! Nancy urged us to have him audition for MOT and between his experiences at MOT and RYT his love for theatre took off. He regularly begged us to move to NYC when he was growing up. Now he is there pursuing his dream and we are proud of him! He will be seeing Turnadot soon as well... at the Met! Oh to be a young theatre student in the Big Apple!

David is working hard to make his dreams come true! That he is in New York at all is a miracle. We didn't think he'd be able to come up with the funding, but he did... for one year. What treasures do you have hidden away deep inside you? Do you have talents that you are not using? Step up to the plate and share your treasures. Think how much better the world would be if everyone would do this!

Many neglect to share talents out of fear... fear of failure, fear of rejection, and just plain fear! I am here to tell you that it is good for you to step out of your comfort zone.

Risk a little! Live a little! Life is short and there is far more to be lost "playing it safe" than taking a risk and stepping up to the plate. The thing that finally got me to take action on this was the thought that I have this talent for a reason... and I not using it... I have a moral responsibility to use my all my talents for the common good... even if I'm afraid... even if I feel like I can't make a difference. Especially if I feel like I can't make a difference... because there is nothing more empowering than discovering that I can make a difference! You can too! Don't be afraid! After a wonderful day surrounded by good friends (Today was Spa Day at my house!) We went out with more good friends to our Stagecrafters Theatre... where we have a season subscription. Tonight's play was "The Miracle Worker" and while I was looking forward to seeing our friends I wasn't really thinking the play would be good.

Imagine my surprise when, after a day of watching "The Secret" and attending a coaching workshop on implementing desired changes in one's life... I saw "Security is mostly a superstition." on the screen on stage! How true is that! This is from a poem by Helen Keller. The whole poem follows:

Let Us Have Faith
(1940)

by Helen Keller
(1880 - 1968)

Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature,
nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
To keep our faces toward change and
behave like free spirits
in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.

Many of us have found ourselves in place in life where we just want to run and hide. Sometimes it's a bad work situation, or health problems, or a role that is put upon us by "fate" and we are left feeling like we have no control. We want to be "safe"... but the safety we envision is an illusion. In reality the only "safety" may be to charge full speed ahead right through the very thing that terrifies us. There is no safety!... so you might as well enjoy the ride... do what you would do if you knew you couldn't fail!

Second Day

I went to the Bikram Studio again today. I'm loving this! Yesterday I had a total wave on anxiety at one point. It gets VERY HOT... and I started to think... I wonder if anyone ever passes out... or gets sick.... not a good train of thought -BUT- just as my mind started to go that way the teacher addressed anxiety and said just to breathe through it, as if she could read my mind! I did (concentrate on my breathe) and I survived! Today the 90 minutes went much faster --really it didn't seem to last more than 89 minutes! HA! All joking aside I thought we had another half hour to go when class was done. What a great feeling! Not that I wanted it to last that much longer... Yesterday I threw a surprise birthday party for my better half! I actually pulled it off -- he was surprised! I didn't do it alone though, I had soooo much help from soooo many people! And the fact that he is so busy always helps, of course! Our house was buzzing yesterday with such great energy and such great friends and family!

Part of his surprise was also a surprise to me... David, our son attending AMDA in NYC, was able to get away for the weekend... so I flew him in on Friday and he stayed until this morning. We didn't book that flight until Monday (4 days before he was to fly in!) The weekend was too short! Even though I am happy that the hectic pace of the weekend is over, I am sad that I didn't have more time to spend with David before he had to fly out again!

I am so grateful for all of our wonderful friends who shared the afternoon with us... to make it a truly special day for Jeff! Michelle and Jordan (and Chase) and my wonderful Mom in Law, helped with the devious planning also - and it all turned out perfectly. It was on TV and looked interesting. Years later, in high school we would all play around in gym class and do the lotus pose (more or less). Now I am a first degree black belt in Korean Karate -- that's a lot of karate classes. I also took ballet when I was growing up -- for eight years. I've run, golfed, "body-for-lifed", kick boxed... overall I've been a pretty active person.... how is it, then that I have never taken a Yoga class.

I think I just never "saw myself there"... last week that changed. I went to my first class. In class I felt sad at one point; sad that I had waited so long. Now I was old and stiff, and with a few too many extra pounds. What I could have done when I was younger... shhh a voice inside said: you can do it now... you are here NOW.

And that is what I learned at my first yoga class. To be nicer and more gentle and accepting of myself... and others. I thought that I would be the only one in class with limitations... but I could actually do some things that others couldn't. We all have limitations, different strengths and weaknesses and it's all okay. I am...we are... not better, not worse, not to be judged in yoga or in life.

I couldn't push myself, because I seem to have some kind of injury, a possible hernia or groin pull of some kind... so I had to take it easy... which made me feel even older. But it was okay, the class was good, and for just "laying around on the floor," stretching and relaxing it was quite a workout.
~~Namaste

Some Great Tools to Use!

As I've been studying the Law of Attraction I've come across some very useful tools! These tools can help you get "unstuck", keep you focused on your goals, and help you expand your imagination!

Let's start with expanding your imagination. I learned this trick from Barbara and Susan at www.lawofattractionteleconference.com . They hosted the teleconference I participated in. When I am feeling stuck this exercise really helps me! Sometimes affirmations have a negative effect on me, if they don't "ring true," and I find I can "believe" them. My vision is limited sometimes, and although I know intellectually that I don't need to know the "how" of something manifesting... I have a difficult time buying into it emotionally. It's hard to "feel" when you can't believe... so I take baby steps to get myself "there" emotionally. This is so important because the emotional "feeling" component is vital to the manifesting process.

If I say: "My money arrives frequently and easily." A voice somewhere in my head may call me a liar, at first! To get around this I use a progressive affirmation and get there in steps.

I begin with:
"I am willing to believe in the possibility that my money arrives frequently and easily."

Comfortable with that?
Then it transforms into:
"I am willing to believe that my money arrives frequently and easily."

And finally:
My money arrives frequently and easily.

By the time I get to the last version my mind has envisioned and "bought into" the affirmation... so the negative self talk dissolves naturally.

When I'm feeling desperately "stuck", this tool works wonders: I take a piece of paper and fold it down the middle, making two columns. On one side I make a list of all the things that I don't want. On the other side I list the opposite, that is, the things I do want.
For example:

"I don't want to be drowning in debt" on one side, will get restated into a positive "I have more that enough money" on the other. Tear the column apart... shred or burn the column with the negative statements. The positive statements can be posted where you can see them or put in your journal to be reviewed often. Abundance Coach, Velma Gallant of Welcome Changes developed this tool. She refers to this as the Dump and Flip. That's exactly what's happening here... you are changing your focus, flipping it over, so to speak!

Another powerful tool is a vision board. It is a fact that most people are visually oriented. A picture is worth a thousand words! Make a vision board with pictures of your goals on it. It is also good to include things in your life that you are grateful for now! Gratitude is a powerful state to be in. Keep this board in your sight. I keep mine in my work area so it keeps me focused on what I'm accomplishing and why I'm working.

Watch "The Secret" for FREE!

I just bought a copy of "The Secret" Friday! Now I can watch it whenever I want on my 42" Plasma Flat Screen TV!!! It was very beneficial & fun event with a Professional Coach, a massage therapist, a reflexology therapist --there was also an Arbonne Representative there...but absolutely NO PRESSURE to buy (or even look) at anything! (The products are very good -- they sell themselves!)

We participated in a "Getting Unstuck" workshop, followed by some wonderful pampering, a light lunch and a viewing of "The Secret." I would like to put together such a day for my friends! If you are interested let me know!

If you have not seen the movie yet, do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP! It is a 90 minute movie that could change your outlook on life! Share it with as many people as possible --the more people that are aware of "the Secret" the better -- for the world!

If this link becomes inoperable let me know and I will look for an updated link to post!
