This Kemensah waterfall is one of the most comfortable and interesting waterfalls to visit. In addition to its location near the National Zoo, the waterfall is also equipped with chalet facilities. So for those of you who plan to stay there, stay in the chalet. This waterfall is also known for its cleanliness, so you do not have to worry about comfort when staying there.

Beautiful waterfalls area.

The same route to the country zoo. But do not enter the parking zoo, enter the small passage of the right zoo. Keep in touch with the village area, just 15-20 minutes away. Around the waterfall chalets. Green forest greenery. Really reconcile the heart. Listen to the rush of river water is very exciting.

Among the other attractions provided by the chalet producer in this area are BBQ Lamb KL Kemensah lunch experience "eat in the river " or meal on a stream.

Parking area is quite limited. First come first serve basis. Pay once with chalet. The budget of chalet and parking should be sufficiently provided.

Parking Saturdays and Sundays are solid.

Habit activities are done here.

Actually this Kemensah Waterfall is not an amazing waterfall with rocky areas and natural ponds like other waterfalls. It is just over the river that has been developed and the larger built-in pools are suitable for the bathing crowd. That's why many also recognize this place as Sungai Kemensah.

Exciting activities that can be done besides swimming pools are ATV riding. There are several tour operators (chalets) that provide this service.

Visitors can also camp and BBQ activities to give new experiences to children. Basic facilities provided include roads to waterfalls, toilets and surau.

Visitors will need to rent for other amenities such as picnic sites, gazebos, dressing rooms and lodging chalets.

There is no restaurant or eatery here. So do not forget to bring enough food supplies.

The aim of the relocation was to preserve the intricacy and authenticity of Malay house back in the 1920s. With so many things to do, places to visit and food to eat, spending a day at the Bukit Bintang area is never going to be enough. There are so many hotels in Bukit Bintang that many have already lost count. The few hotels which you may want to stay at are the Crown Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur, the Royale Chula Hotel and so on.

Transport

The way to get to the Jade Museum is probably the same way you get to Bukit Bintang which is either via a taxi but you can also get on a monorail and stop at the Bukit Bintang Monorail Station. Since the Jade Museum offers free pick up service from any hotel in Kuala Lumpur, you should not worry about not being able to get there. You probably just have to check in at any hotel in the city center.

In line with the government's vision to create a generation of contributors in the field of science and technology, the National Science Centre has been mandated to build a science culture community

National Science Centre was officially opened on 29 November 1996 by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YABhg. Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad.

Strategically located in a region of peace, harmony and surrounded by natural greenery of Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. National Science Center building is a national landmark through its unique design and scientific. Building resembles a truncated cone at its peak and covered with a geodesic dome.

As an informal learning institution, the institution is expected to increase interest, appreciation and understanding of science and technology for the improvement of scientific Malaysians.

The exhibits are available at the National Science Centre consists of various themes that are divided according to specific categories. There are two key areas of Basic Science and Technology.

The entire concept of this center is to link science with religious values, environment, and other aspects of life, knowledge and its application in everyday life.

In 2006, the National Science Centre has been hailed as a new history with the establishment of its first branch in the Northern Territory. National Science Center construction project of the Northern Territory Branch was started in February 2005 in an area of 5 acre site in the Mount Keriang, Alor Setar, Kedah.

Designed based on the concept of building energy-saving, environment-friendly and dynamic exhibition space. Almost all layout work environments and interactive exhibition gallery this building fabricated by the National Science Centre staff.

With the existence of two science centers, more material can be designed and shared exhibitions to attract, stimulate and encourage visitors to take an active interest in science and technology.

Petaling Street or known as Chinatown among tourists is the centre of Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown. The street is also affectionately known as PS among locals.

Petaling Street or known as Chinatown among tourists is the centre of Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown. The street is also affectionately known as PS among locals. It is located at the Southeast of Central Market, bounded by Jalan Bandar, Jalan Petaling and Jalan Sultan.

Unique Features
To experience Petaling Street (Chinatown), you should go at night! It's a place that never sleeps. The jostling crowd and noise are part of the fun of visiting Petaling Street. Without these, it just wouldn't be right.

The street has actually been given a facelift. Gone are the uneven roads and broken pavements and the huge colourful umbrellas that protect the goods sold from wooden pushcarts. Petaling Street is now sheltered, with two large Chinese arches placed at both ends of the street to welcome visitors.

Petaling Street is a bustling market serving as a bargain hunter's paradise and one of the premier shopping areas in the city, which is distinct in oriental atmosphere.

It is famous for its makeshift bazaars or stalls; selling "very reasonably" priced goods like wallets, handbags, t-shirts, watches, shoes as well as dresses, sunglasses, shoes, fabrics and souvenirs. Petaling Street is also known for its jewellery shops with their fascinating variety of fine jewellery items beautifully crafted in gold and set with priceless gemstones.

Historical Background
The original Chinese Town centred on Market Square. As the population grew, expansion was constrained by swamps, hills and the river. High Street, now known as Jalan Tun HS Lee, became increasingly popular, as it was higher than the rest of the town and therefore less prone to floods.

Kuala Lumpur was a typical "pioneer" town at the turn of the century, filled with a rough and tough population that was largely male. For entertainment, there was Chinese wayang (opera) or bangsawan (Malay theatre).

The Chinese leaders provided for the community through associations, benevolent societies, temples and foundations. The wealthier and more ornate shophouses were built north of Jalan Cheng Lock, closer to the business centre.

Food
You are in food haven! Chinese food haven to be exact. There are many restaurants with a lot of delicious choices. Some of the restaurants here have been operating for generations! Patrons would normally be given a menu complete with pictures giving them a good indication of how their meal will look like.

The Hokkien Noodles at the corner of Hong Leong Bank is quite popular judging from the long queues of people waiting to place their order. Don't be disheartened. It is really worth the wait. Look out for Yook Woo Hin restaurant on Petaling Street. It is one the longest surviving family-run food places in KL.

Petaling Street is still a worthwhile place to visit for the food. If you wander into the side lanes, you will still be able to glimpse the old Chinatown, from the lane that sells funeral wreaths to the almost hidden wet market selling live poultry, seafood, and fresh vegetables.

Travel Advice
Bargaining here is an absolute must. Bargain hard! It's the ideal place to test your bargaining skills. Even in daytime you have great bargains. Petaling Street is not open for the traffic. It is a great place for locals to get some goods at bargain prices and certainly an eye-opening experience for tourists.

Zoo Negara - About Us

Zoo Negara Malaysia is managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, a non-governmental organization established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Zoo Negara is now 48 years old and has matured into a well-known zoo all around the world. We have a total of over 5446 specimen from 476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

Zoo Negara covers 110 acres of land which is situated only 5km from the city of Kuala Lumpur. Over the years, the zoo has transformed itself to an open concept zoo with over 90% of its animals being kept in spacious exhibits with landscape befitting its nature. We are working in making sure that the old zoo concept is changed entirely.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Aquarium is now open for public viewing. The aquarium is the first ecological-based freshwater aquarium in the country highlighting the Malaysian River and Wetlands.

The spacious picnic grounds around the boating lake are excellent for family recreation. Other facilities available within the 25ha ground are restaurants and mini-train rides.

Normally the elephant training for the zoo is restricted to a practical training.
The zoo elephant has to know the commands, which are important for every day training and for hygiene. E.g. it has to learn to stand patiently, to lift its feet for pedicure and to lay down for washing.

These elephants must additionally learn some tricks that are to be shown in the program later on.

There are good and impressive elephant numbers, which enable the animals to show their strength and swiftness or rather their sensitivity.

But there are also many bad acts, which force the elephants to show exercises absolutely unnatural for elephants.

Among these are the two- and even one-armed handstands, as well as the standing on the hind legs.

This experience teaches the little elephant the first respect for its keeper. But the elephant keeper has to show the baby also confidence and he must stroke it. Stroking is important. Not only because elephants are contact animals, but this way the little elephant learns to let itself touch from head to foot.

The whole training is accompanied by commands. The most important ones are "Yes";, "No"; and "Good". So the little elephant knows what it is expected to do, what it is allowed to do and what it is not allowed to do.

The African lion has found a place in the shade.Later on he jumps on the platform and gives a very big roar. He's the king of the jungle.

The Lion Group has adopted this African lion at Zoo Negara under a sponsorship programme costing RM17,000 per annul which covers feeding, medication and maintenance of the lion.

Many of Malaysia's most endangered species have found a home in the Zoo Negara.

Butterfly Park

Enjoy a glimpse of more than 6,000 butterflies of over 120 species at this unique park.

The park is an imitation of the butterfly's natural habitat. It includes more than 15,000 plants from 100 species that have been used to recreate a Malaysian rainforest atmosphere. There is a nursery and breeding area for the butterflies.

Facilities include an informative insect museum.

Visiting hours : from 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays.

Admission fees : RM4 for adults and RM2 for children.

This is a huge moth, there was quite a lot of these.

There is actually butterflies everywhere, not like the crappy ‘butterfly park’ in Malacca, this place has thousands, literally.

Aircraft on display are all phased-out aircraft.

The RMAF Museum was officially opened to the public on the 2nd June 1985, coinciding with the 27th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Malaysian Air Force by the Chief of Armed Forces Staff, General Ghazali Bin Mohd Seth. It was a simple beginning for the Museum at the Sungai Besi Air Force Base. The inventory back then consisted of only five aircraft as exhibits.

Main Entry Force Museum

For two years the Museum occupied half a hangar belonging to No. 2 Squadron. So when the new military base at Subang became operational in 1987, many units moved to Subang. The Museum quickly laid claims to the Engineering Support Unit hangar next door and the building complex next to it, which used to accommodate the Heli FTS. With such "luxurious" facilities, the Museum started its acquisition plan to bring back to the Air Force aircraft that were phased out since the early 1960s. Success followed success and many aircraft have since been brought into the collection. The Museum is beginning to run out of space. So most of the larger aircraft are parked outside in the open while the smaller and delicate ones occupy its only hangar.

The Museum has received different kinds of visitors, ranging from schoolchildren to university professors, day trippers from all over the country and overseas enthusiasts. Besides that it also have carnivals and radio-controlled (RC) model aircraft flying activities. Some security obligations have to be observed. On arrival at the Guard Room, by bus or taxi, please inform the duty personnel that you wish to visit the Museum. Then proceed to the Museum Car Park. Parking is free but please be orderly and not park in a haphazard manner. Since the Museum does not have adequate staff, conducted tours for groups can only be made by prior arrangement. Admission is free and photography is permitted. Rest area, children's playground, toilets and refreshment facilities are available.

Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is one of the most popular metropolitan recreational parks located in the northern part of Kuala Lumpur.

Taman Tasik Titiwangsa near with Istana Budaya, National Gallery, Sutra Dance Theatre and a little further on, the National Library.

Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is located at Jalan Kuantan is a recreational area located in the northeast of Kuala Lumpur. It has Sebauh park beside the lake and have access to paddle boats, kayaks, children's playgrounds, playing fields traffic, horse riding and rhythmic fountains. There are also tennis courts, sports complexes, halls squash and other sports facilities.

There is also horseback riding.

Enjoy the view of the lake with a boat oar activities with family members.

Fishing on the lake, the main attraction here every year.

Info / Insights: Serene and beautiful Titiwangsa Lake was once a giant tin-mining pit. Years after its abandonment, the area was transformed into a recreational park during the mid-70s. That was before it became fashionable to convert disused mining ponds into water theme parks. The area continued to be a cozy residential enclave, even after its renaming to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.

Seavoy Road, as it was known then, was the major road leading to the excavated lake. Many of the roads in the area are (were) named after towns in Pahang. This is no co-incidence, as Jalan Pahang was the only practical route from KL to Pahang, once-upon-a-time.

Titiwangsa became an unwitting participant in a grand comedy show, some three years ago. During the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2007, a giant wheel was erected on its grounds, almost overnight. Around it, a month-long fireworks orgy was planned. It soon became evident that burning over RM 100,000 worth of explosives every night for a handful of local spectators was not very logical nor healthy. The thunderous explosions nearly obliterated all the good work of heart surgeons from the many nearby hospitals. Nevertheless, the show went on despite protests from deafened residents and surviving cardiac patients. All the colorful birds that added to the attraction of the park flew off for good, too.

Located next to the National Art Gallery in Jalan Tun Razak, Istana Budaya or the Palace of Culture is a major landmark in the city of Kuala Lumpur. This cultural center was founded in Sep' 1999 to promote the artistic and cultural heritage of the country. Sprawled in an area of 54,400 m², the Istana Budaya was formally inaugurated by the ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia -Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, in 1999.

Istana Budaya is also the abode of the National Theater Company and the National Symphony Orchestra. Muhammad Kamar Ya'akub designed this innovative building, taking inspiration from the traditional moon kite. Its interior was built using local resources, like marble and premium tropical wood from Langkawi. Istana Budaya A few of the edifice's interesting features comprise of the turquoise folds on the roof and the intricate design of the foyer. However, the focal structure takes its shape from the 'Sirih Junjung which is a conventional arrangement of betel leaves used during Malay ceremonies.

Like any traditional Malay house, the structure is divided into three areas: the "serambi" (lobby and foyer), the "rumah ibu" (main house or the auditorium), and the "rumah dapur" (kitchen as the stage and rehearsal hall). Its huge theater hall "Panggung Seri" can accommodate up to 1,412 viewers at a time. It is actually Asia's first theater which is outfitted with high-tech stage equipments. It is its class facilities and interiors that make Istana Budaya rated amongst the top ten theaters of the world.

National Museum, a beautiful building featuring traditional Malay architecture stands proudly in the heart of Kuala Lumpur as the country's historical heritage buildings. Now the National Museum of the recently completed upgrade in 2008, to appear more attractive and interactive lead visitors to explore the history of Malaysia began from the prehistoric era to Malaysia today.

The National Museum is headed by a Director and placed under the administration of the Department of Museums, Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture.

The objective of the National Museum are as follows:

National Monument (Malaysia)

The National Monument is a sculpture that commemorates those who died in Malaysia's struggle for freedom, principally against the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Malayan Emergency , which lasted from 1948 until 1960. It is located in the Federal capital, Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Houses of Parliament is situated near the monument.

It is the world's tallest bronze freestanding sculpture grouping. Every year on July 31 on Warriors' Day, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Prime Minister and heads of military and the police pay their respects to the fallen heroes by laying garlands at the monument.

First National Monument
The original national monument was not the one in the form of human figures but was a cenotaph that was situated in the middle of a roundabout. The British administration set up the first monument, a 10m flat grass-covered ground to commemorate the wars and honour the fallen heroes from World War I, World War II and the Malayan Emergency.

It was moved to the present site during the construction of a flyover in 1964 connecting Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin and the Parliament roundabout. Therefore the original name for Jalan Tugu, where the National Monument is currently situated, was Cenotaph Road.

On the monument, it is written “To Our Glorious Dead with dates of the First World War (1914-1918), Second World War (1939-1945) and the Emergency (1948-1960).

Second National Monument
The monument was later replaced with the National Monument, an idea mooted by Malaysia's first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman and was commissioned in 1963.

The huge tall bronze figures of soldiers standing and supporting their fallen comrades, which is opposite Lake Gardens, are the work of sculptor Felix de Weldon, who also did Washington’s Iwo Jima Monument and it is regarded as the largest bronze monument grouping in the world.

The National Monument was completed and officially opened on February 8, 1966, by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. It was proclaimed a memorial park dedicated to the 11,000 people who died during the 12-year Malayan Emergency (1948-1960). Thereafter, a wreath-laying ceremony takes place at the monument every July 31 on Warriors Day.

On 27 August 1975, the monument suffered extensive damage due to an explosion set off by a communist terrorist. But the communist had denied their involvement and instead alleged it was the work of the government itself to damage the monument in order to rationalize the rebuilding of the monument statues which was perceived of having statues of the Caucasians to resemble the looks of Malaysians to avoid being alleged racist and any embarrassment on the government part by blaming the communist. It has since been restored to its original state with the new looks on 11 May 1977. A fence was then erected and the complex was declared a protected area between sunset and dawn. Every day at dawn, a soldier raises the national flag and lowers it at dusk.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom has stated that from 2010, the Warriors' Day commemoration service would be held elsewhere after Malaysia's National Fatwa Council guidelines declared the statues "un-Islamic" and potentially idolatrous. Defence Minister Zahid Hamidi added that a new "Warrior's Square" would be built in the country's administrative capital Putrajaya. When asked why the decision was made only after almost four decades of celebrating Warriors' Day at the present site, Jamil evaded comment, saying "Alhamdulillah, we are serious in solving this issue".

Merdeka Square, Kuala Lumpur

Merdeka Square (or Dataran Merdeka) is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It was here the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. Since then, Merdeka Square has been the usual venue for the annual Merdeka Parade (National Day Parade).

Literally Independence Square, it was formerly known as the Selangor Club Padang or simply the "Padang" and was originally the cricket green of the Selangor Club (now Royal Selangor Club).

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building, which grandly overlooks the Merdeka Square, is one of the most significant landmarks built by the British. Designed by A. C. Norman who was inspired by Indian Moghul architecture, this building was completed in 1897 and housed the Selangor State Secretariat and later the Supreme Court before being abandoned for a number of years. It now houses the Ministry of Heritage, Culture and Arts.

The field at the Merdeka Square's immediate vicinity was officially renamed 'Dataran Merdeka' on 1 January 1990 in conjunction of Visit Malaysia Year 1990.

Merdeka Square was the starting line of The Amazing Race Asia 1.

On August 31, 2007, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi shouted 'Merdeka!' on midnight celebrations, where thousands of Malaysians celebrated 50 years of nationhood.

In the vicinity
Surrounding the square are many buildings of historical interest including the Royal Selangor Club Complex which is situated on one side of the square, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the National History Museum (formerly the Chartered Bank Building) and the Memorial Library, a building dating back to 1909, St. Mary's Anglican Cathedral, a Gothic style building which is more than a hundred years old, the original Kuala Lumpur Railway Station (next to the Sultan Abdul Samad Building), the 102-year old Sanitary Board fountain and the impressive modern Dayabumi Complex.

A 95-meter flagpole, one of the tallest in the world, marks that spot with a flat, round black marble plaque. It is located at the southern end of the square.

The quasi-Tudor style timber structure was built in 1890 and remains a place to watch a game of cricket on a Sunday afternoon.

The Royal Selangor Club's Tudor-style building, originally built in 1890 is in stark contrast to the Moghul-styled Sultan Abdul Samad Building across the square.

Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur

Istana Negara (Malay for National Palace) is the official residence of His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia. It stands on a 28 acre (110,000 m²) site, located at a commanding position on the slope of a hill of Bukit Petaling overlooking the Klang River, along Jalan Syed Putra.

Another royal residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is Istana Melawati in Putrajaya and a replacement palace is to be built on Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur.

The palace was originally a double-storey mansion built in 1928 by a local Chinese millionaire, Chan Wing. During the Japanese occupation from 1942–1945, it was used as the Japanese officers’ mess. After the surrender of the Japanese, the building was bought by the Selangor State Government. It was then renovated to become the palace of His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor until 1957.

The Federal Government then bought the palace in 1957, to be converted into the Istana Negara for the newly created sovereign post of Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaya which was about to achieve independence that August as scheduled. Since then it has undergone several renovations and extensions. But the most extensive upgrading was carried out in 1980, as it was the first time that the Installation Ceremony of His Majesty DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong was held at the Istana Negara. Prior to this the Installation Ceremonies were held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur with the first one held in 1957.

Compound

The building is nestled within a 11.34-hectare compound with a variety of plants and flowers, swimming pool and indoor badminton hall. As the palace grounds are not opened to members of the public or tourists, the Main Palace Entrance is a favourite picture spot for tourists.

The whole area is fenced up and the Royal Insignia of His Majesty is placed on each steel bar between two pillars of the fence. At the front of the Istana Negara, there is the main entrance which resembles an arch. On each side of the arch, are two guard posts to shelter two members of the cavalry in their full dress uniform similar to the ones at Buckingham Palace, London.

In the grounds of the palace is a guard house for the members of the Royal Malay Regiment, one of the two Household Division units in the Malaysian Armed Forces (the other one is the Malaysian Royal Armoured Corps Mounted Ceremonial Squadron). There is also a six hole golf course, tennis courts and a lake in the far end of the grounds.

The driveway, lined with cypresses and casuarinas, leads to two entrances - an entrance to the West Wing and the other to the East Wing.

East Wing

Balairong Seri is the throne room of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. It is located in the East Wing and only used for official and customary functions. These include ceremonial occasions of taking the royal pledge, installation ceremony of a new elected King and the appointment of a new prime minister and the federal government which included investiture ceremonies and the taking of oaths by the government ministers and state governors. This is also where the presentation and acceptance of foreign diplomatic appointments are held. It sometimes serves as a banquet hall.

The second hall on the first floor is the Dewan Mengadap where the King receives honoured guests such as Head of States and foreign dignitaries. This hall doubles as a resting place of Sultans and Governors during the Conference of Rulers. The other rooms are Bilik Duta, Bilik Permaisuri and Bilik Menteri. Bilik Duta is where the King grants audience to the Prime Minister and also where honoured guests are received. The Queen receives her guests at the Bilik Permaisuri while the Bilik Menteri is the rest room for guests.

West Wing

The Conference of Rulers is held at the Bilik Mesyuarat Raja-Raja situated in the West Wing.

Moving New Location

Date 15 November 2011, the Istana Negara was moved to a new location on the Jalan Duta.

National Palace Complex, Jalan Duta, Malaysia is a palace complex, located at Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Officially, the palace was used on 15 November 2011 to replace the Istana Negara at Jalan Masjid as the official residence of habitation of the King and Queen, the King of Malaysia. This palace was handed over to the administration of the National Palace on October 18, 2011 and became fully operational on 11 November 2011.

Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin is that the first King of the castle sat on 15 November 2011 while the ceremonial installation of the King of the 14th also will be the first coronations held at the pavilion.
