I had to move around the city last year and finally found THE place, so I started decorating with my office (of course)

It was long and painful but I did it.

Many know already that I like figures so I had to start with that!
Since I receive sometimes costumers to my atelier I needed a place from where to show my cosplays so they'll see what I'm capable of.

I not only make cosplay but daily cloths too I'm trying to work more on that and it really is a big motivation when people like the finishing product and it's even more awesome when they are geeks and otakus that like the decoration, it may have to change one day though...

Still I need to work in that place so I had to set up everything right away~

I'm still working on the decoration of the rest of the apartment ..It's going to take some time >_<

It's my little sactuary, there's stuff everywhere but only I can find myself here, I know where everything is and I feel so confy ...

Yes! A new post! A new post!

OMG! Another post! yeah I know took me time and I'm ashamed of myself no worries (I'll take an ice-cold bath later...)

I'm sorry for the lack of updates but lately my life is kinda like a roller coaster, which it's good really , I mean I don't waste my time too much (just enough)

I realized the other stuff, like : I'm almost done with school, what I'm going to do after? What do I do with this blog? and of course my hobbies.
I like to share what I know with everyone and all but I lack of many things (time being the main one) but that won't stop, I will continue showing stuff around here, sewing mostly!

So yeah there will be updates this time, starting for from this week end and the it will come when less you expect it! Mwahahahaha!!!

Yeah, we are back from the Pit!

Since some stuff happened this year, the blog had to be on Hiatus without notice.
I moved twice but this time I'm staying in this place for sure.
Since this blog is about anime and Cosplay and I haven't had the chance to do/watch/read anything lately I'm going to start fusing the 2 blogs Osasaki's Place and the main site to add more content.

I'm also making a Facebook page when things are going to be a little more developed.
Contests will be held more later in the year (for Xmas if I'm able to put everything together) , there will be also Many tutorials to come for cosplay, fashion, DIY cute stuff, etc
We are now accepting collaborators for the site to add more content like video games and event over seas,
Just send me a message and we'll talk about it ^^

There also going to be some changes here and there like the Layout (again) and I'll even change from Blogspot to my own server :3

How to Pose Gracefully For Cosplay Photographing ?

Here is a guest article that was submitted to me about posing for cosplay photography that I would like to share:

Thanks to Au-chan to give me this opportunity to post this cosplay artiche here. This time i wanna share some tips for cosplayers . Usually we see many cosplayers being taken photos in conventions, but how to pose gracefully and make better cosplay photos, there are some tips below.

First, do not make head and body in a line, which seems rather stiff. When body faces towards the camera, turn head left or right slightly. The photo will be more elegant and lively. In the same way, when eyes look straightly to the camera, turn your body to a certain angle to seem more vivid, dynamic and enhance the three-dimensional sense.

Second, do not parallel your arms and legs. Under any situation, do not parallel arms and legs. When arms and legs are parallel, you will seem stiff and mechanical. So, you can bend your arms or legs. What’s more, you can make them at a certain angle. So, a picture with dynamic and changeable pose is created.

Third, try your best to accent your curves on your body. For female cosplayers, they attach much importance to show their curvaceous silhouettes. The most usual way is to stand on one leg. Then, lift another leg to lean on it. Turn around the hip until it shows the slimmest look. As the waist bends down, the bust will seem rather plump. Meanwhile, put one of your hands on your chest, which offers a necessary width to the picture.

Fourth, straighten your sitting posture. Shot while sitting, you shouldn’t sit with your entire body into the chair. In this case, excrescent fat will hunch and make your legs seem cumbersome. The right posture should be to lean your body towards and sit by the side of chair. Keep chest puffed out and abdomen in. Saggy shoulders and protruding stomach are both avoided.

Fifth, keep distance from the camera. Generally speaking, it’s much better to stay in a distant place while taking a figure photo. When the camera lens is rather close to people who will be photographed, it will become malformed. This especially makes sense on camera lens with a short focal length. Thus, make sure you have chosen a proper focal length and keep a certain distance with the camera.

Sixth, pose your hands properly. Hands do not occupy a big proportion in a photo. However, improper hand posture will damage the overall beauty. Pay attention to the integrity of your hands and do not make them look like distorted, fractured or caritive. While being akimbo or putting your hands in the pocket, you had better show parts of your figures to avoid an interceptive look.

A right posture is half done. To make your cosplay experience more significant, just pay more attention to how to pose for photographing.

Dimension Jeux video - New Branch Opening (updated)

A new branch of Dimension - Jeux Video is opening its doors at Laurier Quebec this month, they are located right by door no 12 near the rear parking lot.

I visited the place myself last friday and was surprised when i was welcomed with open arms and one of the staff started explaining to me all about this shop, i was even given documentation for later use on this blog entry, overall i was impressed.

Heres a little resume of this shop's services.

Rentals
Everything, from new games for sale to pre-owned can be rented in the store. Some items are for rental only.
Rental prices are :
1 day - 3$
3 days - 5$
7 days - 10$
14 days - 20$
New games must be rented for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Console and disk repair services are available at every store, any disks can be repaired wether they are audio CDs, game disks or DVDs. If a store does not have the CD repairing machine yet, they will send it to one that does.

A game room is open for all with an interesting system, they have a ball distributor that cost 2$ per try and depending on the color of the ball you have between 20 minutes to 2 hours of playing with a game of your choice. Each store uses these rooms to hold tournaments and with a request you can rent the room for a personal party.

If you buy a game that is unavailable in store, you can rent for free a game of your choice until your bought game is available. Warranties on the games are 90 days, pre-owned or new and 3 months for console games. Extended warranties can be bought at 3$ for a year to 5$ for 2 years.
Games can also be pre-ordered when they are not yet in stock.

Overall, this will be a shop to look out for in he future, seiing that most shops offering pre-owned are either con-mens (Dede) or offer poor service (ebgames).

On april 9 and 10 2011, the 2nd japanesse culture festival, now called Nadeshicon, will be held at the Laval University in Quebec city. Planned is a mascarade, a japanesse fashion show, karaoke, dancing and much more, entry cost is 5$ for the weekend without pre-registrations.

Currently a contest is being held for the convention's poster, the mascot and the name of the convention must be present on it. Contest open till december 1st.
Two Winners will be chosen, prize will be a VIP pass for each allowing reserved front seats at events and a table to expose and/or sell your artwork

I would have never guess that doing a tutorial or a cosplay that was made some time ago would be so difficult.

I'm sorry if I'm disappointing people with the bad timing (2 weeks till Halloween ><)
But I can assure you that I'm working on a fast way to make it, it took me 2 months to make that cosplay since I'm not a pro at sewing and I also got help, so I really want to apologize for those who were expecting it sooner.

*sigh*

Long story short: I had to email the Otacute costumer service the same day that I realized that they stopped the pre-orders, one of the Otacute staff replied very kindly and allowed more time in the site for the dollfie so I could place my order, and so, I did! :D

With all this, it makes me wonder, what's the most you have spent in the anime/manga market?

As much I would like to do everything myself, there are many parts of the cosplay that I had to buy
sometimes because I can't make it in time or because I can't make it at all.

Créations KA, owned by my friend Ka, made my hairdress, the choker and bracelets.

I bought the socks from FanPlus friend store, they are really of good quality and I got a really fast shipping.

I also found the Dream sock shop with a similar type.

The shoes were bough in a second hand store.

Why? because I have big feet and so I had to make tests on how the paint was going to work on them and everything. Also, real lolita shoes cost a lot and since I had to modified them I felt bad on spending so much on something that could go wrong.
I also bought some white and black lace to make the front.

Still, if you have small feet, here is (more or less) what you need:

Me and my luck: I lost one of my shoes while moving to my new apartment ... I wanted to cry. I had to buy another pair of shoes, which you see well in this video:

K-On!! movie given the green light

As a surprise annoucement, the last episode of K-On!! revealed at the end that a movie has been confirmed to be in the works.

This come as a surprise given that the anime ended where the manga did, so we can only wonder if the story will be made by the anime's staff or the original mangaka or if it will a recap of previous episodes.

Official Touhou anime announced

An official Touhou anime has been announced to be in the making by ufotable, previously responsible for the making of the Kara no Kyoukai movie series.

The project is part of a 10th anniversary celebration for the mascot character of anime store Animate, whose mascot was previously seen in the anime Lucky Star.

It is not clear yet if this will be a full TV series or an OVA

Oh-Em-GEEE!! Oo!

I'm have actually some news! (Finally...)

First of all, for now on the blog will be updated every Thursday.
There will be some new tutorials (like for xmas gifts), cosplays, decorations and more.

For the cosplay tutorials I'm started a poll to know if you would like me to talk about the Haruhi Suzumiya in Gothic cosplay since it looks that is they most viewed post in here ^^;;

KWY started with some luck this years, we are now in the Top Cosplay of Online University ( #3 Rank, yay~!) withouth even asking :3
We also have some sponsors here and there and I continue to make some events to promote the site.

We are also trying to move from Blogspot since we want to make the blog a little big bigger and even maybe add a forum.

.... and I has always been bothered by the fact that some of my cosplaying characters had so many different eye colors that I could never get and same with the hair.

I know what your thinking. Wigs, make up, etc exists so we can turn into a whole new different person (Conguro girls are the perfect example). Still , for the eyes I had always been careful on what I put on my eyes since some of my family members already had in the past problems and mainly caused by contact lenses.
My biggest problem is that I'm a perfectionist and some years ago I would always tried to cosplay someone with my eye color and even sometimes with the same hair color ( you have to admit that some wigs can be a little itchy and it sucks to have it on all the long) and when not (Ex. Lacus cosplay) I was never happy with the result that I just wore the costume onces.
That said... I had enough of giving myself limitations and being unhappy with my results.

So like in my latest cosplays (Cirno, Mio, Keine, etc) I used the anime contact lenses.
I mainly bought them at conventions because if I have any problems of any kind, the seller is always there to give me an exchange or even refund. I had never used contacts before but I got used to it.
Personally, I prefer the GeoColor brand, they have different types of contact lenses and even some special for cosplaying. PrettyCircleLens is one of the online shops where you can buy them, and since they have no bootlegs ( they even come with a certificate) they aren't that expensive.

Big = Cute

Sometimes the bigger eyes the characters has (in proportions with the head) , they cuter they tend to be.

Cosplay a lolita character? Then I recommend the GeoColor angel Series.

Evil kind? Colourful eyes?! Then use the GeoColor Cosplay type

Brown eyes like me? You can use them with no problem, though the light colors (like pale blue and others) can't be seen if there is no much light.
You can use them in Studio photo shoots but it won't be seen in a photo taken in the middle of a convention, you'll need light. The red eyes for Keine worked perfectly, but for Mio my friends needed to look closer to see them.

Take care of your eyes, if something doesn't seem right with the lenses, take them off ASAP. It's also recommended to see a doctor before using them , the color lenses can be used in everyday life since you can buy them with your eyes prescription, even if both have different types of problems
I recommend to buy them a case and watch constantly (if your only use them for conventions) since the water tend to dry and your contacts will too.
You'll have to change your lenses every 1 -2 years

If you follow those tips, you're O.K to go and even have a better cosplay experience!!!

Black Rock Shooter Figma coming with OVA DVD

It has been confirmed by this blogger that the recently released Black Rock Shooter figma, previously convered in Osasaki's Place, will come with a DVD containing the full OVA of the same name.

For those lucky enough to have ordered the figure however take note that japanesse DVDs are region 2 coded and may not work in your player. For those looking for a blue ray release, one should be available pretty soon.

Imaginaire - Cosplay Day 2010

On the coming august 28th, local hobby shop l'imaginaire will be hosting its 5th Cosplay Day event.
On this special day people will be able to meet whit many other cosplayers and partake in a few activities organized by the staff such as a small mascarade to show off you costume or do a skit, also costumers will receive special discounts on products if you are a registered cosplaying participant!!!

Fanamanga - Special Opening Day

Yesterday, august 19, was the special opening of a new japan themed shop in Quebec city.
Located in the nouvo st-rock area, Fanamanga is a new small shop that offers a variety of delicious bubble teas made right in front of you, as well as several japanesse snacks, candies and other drinks all in a pleasant atmosphere.

Also offered for sale is a large selection of mangas as well as wallscrolls, plushies, posters, bags and many other goodies. Me and my friend have suggested they get anime DVDs and dollfie clothing, the later already having a small niche of dollfie owners around who could easilly become regulars.

If you are into cosplaying or lolita/visual clothes, a small selection is currently available and should expand in the future.

Last but not least, the basement houses a cozy japanesse style karaoke room, a small photography shrine for gothic lolitas and soon there will be DDR pads, arcades and pachinko's available.

The only bad point so far is that the figures in place have been discovered to all be bootlegs, but the owners, who did not know about it, have been alerted of it and the health risk they represent so it is expected they will do something about it eventually. Me and a friend might give them tips very soon about this matter.

Anyway if you are a japanophile and seek a nice environement to relax with a small snack or drink, this is the place for you.

Touhou 12.8 - The Great Fairy Wars

The Newest title of Touhou project by team Shangai Alice, Touhou 12.8 The Great Fairy Wars, has been announced on Zun's blog to be released at summer comiket 78 on august 13-15.

The game feature's Cirno as the main character and the 3 Mischevious Fairies Sunny Milk, Luna Child and Star Saphire as her opponents. These fairies save for Cirno all originate from official doujin manga, Strange and Bright Nature Deity by Zun and Hirasaka Makoto, with the artwork of the game done by the later.

The plot is in all of Cirno's ⑨ style as she declares war on the 3 mischevious fairies and you apparently freeze the bullets your supposed to dodge.

The long awaited Black Rock Shooter anime has been given a clear release date thru a new trailer. If all goes well, it should be released on july 24th in japan.

A new Vocaloid released by Internet co ltd., who previously released Gakupo and Gumi, will be hitting shelves by august 25th in japan. Her voice is a clear high pitch and somewhat remniscient of Kagamine Rin's, her demo song is already available for your listening pleasure.

Im not too crazy about her character design personally. ^^;

Claude and Alois, that's the only hint we have for the new season of Black Butler that's airing right now in japan.

With the ending of the first part, fans are hungry for more dark, funny and english tea that this anime brings us.

Already FUNanimation made a deal for "almost" simulcast with A-1 studios in japan so Gaijin Otaku's will see the series on the web mainly from their Youtube channel.

Episode one is already up!!!
