Linebackers Adam Herring and Spencer Pybus and offensive lineman Vance Smith have retired due to injuries.

"Those are three great, great kids who love football," Chizik said. "You have to look at what your quality of life is going to be 30 years from now. Medically, it was their decision to stop playing."

Defensive lineman Cameron Henderson, who was suspended for the entire 2009 season, has left the team and is no longer enrolled at Auburn.

"The best of my knowledge he's transferred to another school,'' Chizik said.

Chizik said no one has contacted him requesting permission to interview offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and he expects the staff to return completely intact in 2010. A few LTU websites reported that Malzahn was interviewing there today, but he's attending the Auburn-Kentucky basketball game.

"I've talked to all of our assistant coaches. My goal is being able to keep all of our coaching staff in tact. There has been no official contact that I know about. I fully anticipate having our staff fully back together. I think everyone understands how the rumor mill works and the different things that get out on the internet sites," Chizik said. "There's a lot of things out there that I think people simply know aren't necessarily fact."

Aairon Savage will apply for a sixth year of eligibility and Chizik is optimistic he will receive it. Savage definitely wants to play in 2010, Chizik said.
- He has missed the past two years because of leg injuries.
Wide receiver Tim Hawthorne, who left the team at midseason, may transfer and play somewhere else.

"He was pondering that. I don't know what he'll choose to do. We wish him the best,'' Chizik said.

Running back Eric Smith, quarterback Tyrik Rollison, and fullbacks John Douglas and Jason King are enrolled in school and still on the football team.

"They have a lot of work to do," Chizik said.

Chizik fully expects safety Mike McNeil to be ready for spring practice.
Chizik said he and the team are helping DT Mike Blanc try to reach his father in Haiti after the disastrous earthquake that took place there earlier this we week.

"We're doing all we can to help," Chizik said. "Right now it's just a tough situation."

Lache Seastrunk No Longer Interested in USC

“No, I am not visiting USC this coming weekend. I don’t plan on visiting USC at this point,” said Seastrunk. “I’m aware of the new coach and it will likely not change my decision moving forward. I have cancelled this trip, I have no other visits planned, and I’m actually hoping to have my decision very soon.”

Shon Coleman is now a 5 Star and moves from #76 up to #22.

Tennessee Disaster

As everyone knows by now, Lane Kiffin has left Tennessee to accept the head coaching position at USC and is bringing his dad (Monte Kiffin) and Ed Oregeron with him.

John Brice for Volquest.com reported to Jim Wogan of WATE TV 6 Knoxville that Ed Orgeron was on the phone with new recruits and early committals trying to lure them to USC as he was cleaning out his office less than 3 hours after word got out that Lane Kiffin resigned and was going to become the new head coach at the USC.

The UT football players were having a very contentious meeting with Kiffin and players were reportedly putting Orgeron on speakerphone of their cellphones listening to what was occurring.

This caused riots in Knoxville, and it appears that everyone went crazy.

Now Mark Schlabach of ESPN is reporting that Texas DC Will Muschamp is a clear No. 1 target for Tennessee vacancy.

Former Auburn linebacker Karlos Dansby had four tackles (one for a loss), a pass deflection (which was intercepted), a forced fumble, and a recovered fumble which he returned for the game-winning touchdown in overtime against the Packers. The Cardinals play New Orleans next weekend in the second round of the playoffs.
Cameron Newton, Roszell Gayden, Brandon Mosley, Craig Sanders, Jessel Curry now enrolled in school at Auburn. This means they count back to the 2009 signing class and can participate in spring practice.
According to The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Tommy Tuberville hired 29-year-old Neal Brown as his offensive coordinator at Texas Tech. Brown, former Troy offensive coordinator, was tutored by former Troy and Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin. As we all remember, Franklin and Tuberville didn't work out. Franklin was fired after coaching just 7 games with the Tigers.
According to AuburnUndercover.com, Jeffrey Whitaker is down to Auburn, California, Georgia, Miami-FL and North Carolina. He will visit Auburn on Jan. 15th and Georgia on Jan. 22nd.
James Stone has named his top 3: Alabama, Auburn and Vanderbilt.
C.J. Mosley commited to Alabama public prior to kickoff at the Army All-American Game.
Auburn Commit Shon Coleman has schedules official visits to Tennessee (Jan. 14th) and Ole Miss (Jan. 21st) and is expected to visit Miami, "later this month."
This week, Auburn will have 9 players visiting.

Commits: Kenneth Carter, Chris Davis, Jake Holland, D.J. Howard, Trovon Reed and Jawara White.
Prospects: Byran Jones, Michael Thorton, and Jeffery Whitaker.

Auburn Commit Trovon Reed will play both reciever and corner on Saturday for the U.S. Army All-American Game.

The four-star prospect will visit Auburn Jan. 16 and LSU Jan. 23. He says it would take a lot to change his mind.

"I doubt if I change my mind, but I'm still going to take the visit because anything can happen. I've just got to see the deal over there," he said. "I feel like LSU likes to play big ol' receivers and at Auburn they are shifty and run tricky plays with smaller guys. I feel like I fit in better at Auburn."

James Stone Names Top Three

According to his coach Ralph Thompson (Maplewood High School), four star offensive tackle James Stone will sign with Auburn, Alabama or Vanderbilt on Feb. 3 (National Signing Day).
Stone will take an official visits to Alabama Jan. 15-17, Auburn Jan. 22-24 and Vanderbilt Jan. 29-31.
He hold offers from all three schools, including Tennessee, LSU, Georgia, Notre Dame, Florida State, Stanford, North Carolina and Clemson, among others.

Lattimore Narrows it down to Top Four and Seastrunk in Oregon Jersey

Marcus Lattimore has eliminated Georgia from contention according to TheBigSpur.com.
It is now between Auburn, Oregon, Penn State and South Carolina.
He has already visited Auburn and Penn State. He plans to visit South Carolina on Jan. 15th and the Oregon on Jan. 22nd.
Lattimore will announce his decision Feb. 2nd.

Tuberville Interested in Texas Tech Job

"I've enjoyed the year off," Tuberville said. "It's given me some good perspective. I have two boys that are playing, so I've enjoyed that. My wife has joked with me that I've changed every light bulb in the house and it's time to find something to do."
"I would be very interested," he said. "I have family there. I have a lot of ties there. I've recruited Dallas and Houston and I think it would be a pretty good fit. Mike [Leach] did a good job and I think I could make the situation even better."
It is quite ironic how Tuberville is now looking at the Texas Tech job, when last year Mike Leach was being considered for the Auburn job.
