Yet, the same sellers will also agree that there is still much money to be made on eBay. The key to earning income on eBay is learning to sell smarter & increase your profits, while decreasing your bottom line. Here are three practical ways to do this:

1. Research, research, research. Prices and hot items on eBay change every month. As a seller, you need to learn to research closing auctions constantly to see what is selling for high prices. Do not make the mistake of buying things randomly at yard sales or auctions, thinking because they are "old" or a "good brand" that they will garner a high price on eBay. The market may be saturated with your "great find", and you will have wasted both time and money.

2. Make sure you are focusing on one particular market. Do not have a hodge-podge of auctions ranging from baby clothing to valuable antiques. People like to know they are buying from someone who specializes in selling a particular item. Plus, people will return to you if they know what you are selling and are satisfied with your service and product. They are not as likely to turn into repeat buyers if one week you are selling scrap-booking supplies, and the next week you are selling baby formula.

3. Open an eBay store. This is the best way to get business from buyers who would rather not wait for an auction to end. If you are selling printer ink, chances are your customer needs it now, not later. If you do not have an eBay store, they will probably move on to someone who does. Also, an eBay store is a wonderful place to put items that have not sold the first or second time you listed them in a regular auction, since the listing fee for a store item is so minimal per month.

In conclusion, earning money on eBay means changing with the times, and constant research. Like any business, success may not happen over night, but it is possible for those who are willing to learn and work hard.

The author, Brian Schwartz has been eBaying since 1999 under the User ID EZas123. A lot of people are deciding to create some additional income by starting their own home business from online auctions.

The first place that we all think about when we hear the word auction is eBay, but there are other places on the internet besides eBay where you can sell your items. They include Yahoo and MSN auctions and then there is Amazon which has lots of traffic and buyers. The best thing about these auction sites is that you do not have to be an expert to sell on them and it does not cost a fortune to get started and best of all, it takes very little time. These sites already have established traffic and this is a must in order for you to make a sale.

Also, it is not difficult to find items to sell on online auctions. You can start out by selling some of your old books or CD's including movies . Then you can do some housecleaning and auction off things that you do not use anymore. Clean out your garage and other storage buildings because they are always full of stuff that you can put in your auctions. Help your neighbors to clean out their garages and ask them for things that they are not going to keep and if they are in good shape, put them in your auctions.

Make sure that you have clear pictures of your items on your online auctions and make sure that you give people a full description of what they are bidding on. Give your customers all the information that you can because people like to know what they are buying and usually they buy from the seller who gives them the most accurate information.

Study sellers who are selling the same type of items as you and see what people are bidding on their items and why they are getting bids and apply those same principles to your online auction items.

If you would like more information on auctions, then please visit the following address:
http://www.culbre.com/auctions

Wholesale Products to Sell on Ebay?

By Garcia Smith

Wholesale is entirely different from the retail business as the latter is a very competitive as well as very much demanding. On the other hand, wholesale business can be a very profitable trade with just a single purchase, a good deal of profits can be acquired. All in all, any business, whether it is wholesale or retail, is challenged with putting up what suitable products and how much for the price of merchandise for sale.

It is essential for any business owner to have knowledge about their prospect products and its performance in the market. For instance, some products like women's clothing apparel buy off more quickly then mens'. Always do a research and make sure of the product rates of your ideal goods as you can not risk mistakes dealing with business. In order for a business to exist for a time, it needs an effective, profitable and in demand merchandise for sale. Uniqueness can not always be found in the market as there are a lot of business owners counting from those on eBay and even on flea markets that will definitely, in one way or the other, sell up the same or similar merchandise. Expect competition with whatever type of business - among retailers, eBay and flea market sellers, as well as big companies such as Wal Mart, K Mart, and Target. Product pricing is what sets off one business to another as this is the perfect way to make good profits to boost up your business.

The mentioned information, hopefully, has given you insight and awareness wholesalers and their related services. Carefully weigh down the options if you want to go with bulk purchasing. What matters in the end is that you will have more savings with wholesalers whether it is for business or just for personal purposes. Start small, but think big! And in the end, you'll have an empire of business to run.

Buy wholesale products online via 100% verified wholesale suppliers. Brought to you by Salehoo wholesalers with more than 40 years of experience.

Where Can One Find Wholesale Saxophones?

By Garcia Smith

Saxophones comes from a wide variety including soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and baritone saxophone and are all available for wholesale distribution among retailers, other wholesalers, proficient users and other associated services. Some retail sellers, on the other hand, have the opportunity to put up saxophones at wholesale prices. Wholesale is a strategy to primarily maximize sales and not necessarily to increase profits. Big companies of licensed music dealers are usually the ardent and the only consumers and customers of wholesale saxophones.

Basically, it is the suppliers that wholesale saxophones to the distributors which in turn sell the saxophones to the dealers or retailers. It is then the retailer that trade off saxophones to the consumer or the customer. Wholesale suppliers actually put up their w wholesale goods for bargain price. The retailers then decide if they want to mark up their price for their calculated amount of profit. Wholesale businesses are a good approach if one wants large volumes of purchases. However, wholesale is not entirely produce the huge profits, unless, a very considerable bulks of merchandise are sold.

The Internet has drastically changed the business of any products, much more saxophones. There are numerous wholesalers and suppliers alike found in the Internet that supply a number of quality wholesale saxophones. Before buying wholesale saxophones make sure that whether your prospect wholesale supplier is genuine and legitimate, and not just middlemen. And in order to gain profits, think of the savings if you buy wholesale tanning beds for your prospect tanning salon. Tanning beds at wholesale prices are available from various sources. These include online wholesalers that charge their consumers less because they typically have no storehouses or employees on payroll. A good relationship exists between or among online business and their manufacturers since wholesalers purchase high sales volume from their manufacturers. Online business owners can offer you wholesale price for a retail products as they can merge your order to another's large order.

Manufacturers are another strategy to obtain wholesale products. By trading with potential profitable tanning bed salon entrepreneurs, they will be able to promote and advertise their products and therefore, mutually, boost up the trade. Not only does a wholesaler earn more savings with such agreement, but also exclusively put up business dealing with the manufacturer's goods.

Slightly used tanning beds are also available in the market for a fraction of the price. Make certain of the condition of a used tanning bed by checking its year, brand and model when deciding to purchase one. Find out the reason behind the owner putting up for sale the bed - if it has malfunctioned, has violated FDA standards, has expired warranty, or has been outdated.

Discounted tanning beds are not necessarily substandard in quality. Manufacturers only mark down their products, such as tanning beds for that matter, to get rid of their outdated, still brand new products and reinstate them with more updated models. The same quality and services are included with these discounted tanning beds, especially a full warranty.

Auctions are also the next big strategy to find quality yet affordable tanning beds. Equipments found in these auctions are usually from salons that go out of business. To pay off their liabilities, they need to auction off their equipments. eBay and local publications can keep you informed of open auctions or foreclosure notices, respectively.

If you want smaller tanning device, the solarium is a prudent investment. Besides its totally cheap price of at least one-tenth of tanning beds, accessibility and space are it added benefits for the tanning fanatics.

Buy wholesale products online via 100% verified wholesale suppliers. On the high street people can find you by walking up and down rows of shops or asking passers-by for your business type. You can call yourself pretty much whatever you like and you will still be found.

On the Internet it's not so easy, not easy at all. But your operating costs are much lower too on the Internet and you have the world to target with your offers, unlike the high street shop that costs a fortune to run and rarely attracts shoppers from more than a few miles away. So you must spend some of those savings on promoting your Internet business to maximise your profit potential.

One of the best ways to attract visitors to your online shop is by choosing a descriptive trading name, one search engines will recognise and display for web users seeking someone to sell their products online, in this case on eBay.

Your name must be descriptive, such as 'Durham eBay Trading Assistants' or 'Wesellyourstuffonebay' or similar, but not 'Jay's Shop' or 'Sellersparadise'. Those latter names say nothing that will cause search engines like Google or Yahoo to return your site to web users seeking someone to sell their goods on eBay.

More good examples for a Trading Assistant business include Durham Auction Selling Services, Selling4U and XYZ Drop-Off Shop. They all sound good, also being short and snappy, and say clearly what the business is about. Not so good are Icon (I Con!!) Worldwide, Billy's Business, AMC and Co., and other similarly non-descript and even derogatory compilations.

When you've chosen a business name, have a bank account opened in that name, and be sure to reserve an applicable domain name, preferably the dot com version, so you can more effectively market your business online.

RULES ABOUT CHOOSING A BUSINESS NAME

You can choose almost any name you like, with the following exceptions:

* You must not deliberately choose the name of another business in the same field, or a name that is confusingly similar, with the intention of benefiting from that other company's goodwill or standing in the business world. This is called 'passing off' and is actionable at law. To avoid inadvertently breaking the rules, check names in telephone directories, business guides and advertisements for possible conflicts. Make sure the name you choose isn't already registered to some other business.

* Check the dotcom (.com) version of your business name in search engines and domain name registries. If your chosen business name, with .com suffix, has not been reserved, chances are the name isn't being used, although a few simple checks will still be worthwhile. Try typing the words of your business name into search engines to see if any sites appear for ventures with names similar to yours. If there is another company with the same name, it isn't always breaking the law to use the name yourself, as long as the name isn't legally registered and isn't protected by trademark and copyright law and you are not using that other firms' goodwill to benefit your own business (Passing Off!).

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com. Instead of one item which can be bought in one go you are presented with a choice: buy one, buy several, or buy all.

The trouble is what what is one and what is all? If the seller seems to indicate that, despite the picture only one item is being sold it is generally worth checking, especially if the postage seems too cheap. It is quicker and easier to list one item that varies than list many items.

Conversely if an item's postage seems too expensive, they have the same number of items in the photo as they claim are being sold in Dutch auction and they have a small feedback score then maybe they don't wish to sell the item by Dutch auction at all. Another clue is that all the items look the same. Again it's safest to check.

Another problem is postage. Every additional item in a Dutch auction is given a certain price. But it's difficult to get the price right. So even if it's 20c for every additional item, if you buy 20 that will be $4.00-$4.00 you may not need to pay. So it's worth emailing the seller to check the price.

This is not to say you won't pick up good bargains using the Dutch auction system-after all you are less likely to be bidding against someone because not that many people understand the system.

Paul Wimsett is an eBay seller, has a Auctiva shop and has also self published work on Createspace and http://www.Lulu.com

Clever Sellers Scoop Up Bargains on eBay and Resell at a Profit

By Teresa Ballinger

Did you know that everyday there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of eBay auctions that have misspelled words in the titles and descriptions? Auctions with misspelled information do not come up on the regular eBay search, so frequently these listings have no bids and can be scooped up at a bargain price. This means you can profit by locating these misspelled auctions before anyone else does!

If a seller is trying to sell "jewerly" instead of "jewelry" they are extremely likely to lose out on a ton of potential customers. If someone is an avid collector of "vintage costume jewelry" you can bet that the search term they use will be "jewelry" not "jewerly".

Remember - "If you can't spell it......you can't sell it!"

The one and only way to seriously earn money on eBay is to take it into your own hands! Find deals whether it be locally or online. You should know a great deal when you see one. If you have trouble recognizing a good deal from a bad deal you may not want to get into eBay selling at all. That's not a slam on you, that's the reality. You have to be a "natural" when it comes to finding deals.

I want to share with you a really foolproof and definite way to make profits on eBay. Clever sellers purchase bargains on eBay all day long then turn around and re-sell those same items making a huge profit! This is a unique opportunity for those selling on eBay.

Benefits Of Selling This Way:

No more shipping supplies to buy. You buy misspelled items, they are shipped to your house in boxes with packaging - do you understand where I'm going with this? You never have to pay for shipping supplies again. As soon as you receive the package, open it, inspect it, close it and re-label it!

Job security. With literally thousands of items per day being misspelled and listed.....even if 1,000 people were doing this, you would still never run out of opportunities and eBay has no spell check and never will!

Low investment. Try this method once and discover for yourself how easy it is. Buy something for $10 and re-sell it in days for $20. This happens ALL the time.

You should be able to pick up some true bargains with no one else bidding against you. Just bear in mind thousands of items on eBay are listed with misspelled descriptions and item names, from a single word to multiple words. These items often close with no bids on them as no-one can find them. Uncover those hidden gems.

Teresa has been quietly making money online for 3 years. Discover her secrets and use the eBay misspelling tool by visiting http://www.power-buys.com/spelling.php

Hot Products For Any Business - Wholesale Basketballs and Car Audios

By Garcia Smith

In this article two very popular products will be introduced a very profitable and viable products to any inventory line. For anyone interested or working in the field of sports, like schools, leagues, training clubs, and athletic institutions purchasing the right basketball equipment wholesale is an excellent opportunity that saves money. Without spending lot cash basketballs in bulk is the best way to get a large volume of basketballs at a discount.

It is the sheer cost benefit to an organizations bottom line is the sole reason that people favor buying basketballs wholesale. The benefit is that the more you buy almost all wholesale basketball dealers and retailers offer a substantial discounts with every purchase and the greater the orders, the cheaper the discounted price. Maybe not for an individual consumer but a sports center will certainly need dozens of basketballs for their patrons and basketball wholesalers keep this targeted market in mind when they offer significant bargain rates.

ATAFA Sporting Goods Store offers on their online store Atafa.com wholesale prices for not only basketballs but also product accessories like nets, small indoor nets for children, as well as other sports gear. A basketball can be bought for approximately $4-$5 when an a minimum purchase order is placed for 500 balls, The single colored outdoor basketball will work out to be $3 per piece for 500 or more. This proposal is tailored especially for large retailers that happen to also sell basketballs and other accessories.

There are other wholesale dealers who sell many stores rejected goods from customers or overstock clearance items apart from typical sports merchandisers. There is opportunity to get basketballs in bulk from all types of businesses that specifically do not carry sports goods like a very reliable online merchant LiquidationStock.com. The advantage with this company is the double discount that can be obtained from the discounted price on overstocked goods as well as the discount given on bulk orders. Opentip.com is another company that offers The Spalding Infusion Composite Basketball for $40 for large orders at factory outlet prices for bulk orders and CloseOutCentral.com will retail Rawlings Basketballs for 25 or more in bulk at $3 each.

The other very popular good to consider is Car Audio at wholesale, the most sought after luxury items today and where many people can find the cheapest available options for any type of car. Traditionally, car audio systems were supplied only through retailers but now wholesale rates are accessible to everyone with the advent of online wholesalers. The convenience with online shopping, auctions, and dealer discounts presents the benefit of getting car audio systems at discounted prices. It should be noted that used products are in abundance but genuine wholesale car audio systems can be problematic to find.

A lot of effort and research can be avoided in trying to find the right wholesale sources for car audio systems through online wholesale clubs. It provides people with product reviews, and valuable information on wholesale deals and agents as to the legitimacy of dubious products to distinguish wholesalers that supposedly put on the market new audio systems in their own retail outlets, auction systems for bulk deals, or promote recycled systems.

While searching for the best price is certainly a compelling feature to reflect on, searching a reliable source is essential to any purchase. Some reputable car audio manufacturers refute online sales so it is strongly advisable to verify the source from the manufacturer as an authorized dealer. Even so, all kinds of brands and models suited to your needs, even gray market items can be found if you are willing to do the work. Problems that arise may be difficult to resolve and trace if the seller does not keep a good record of the goods serial numbers that can void the manufacturer's warranty.

Full warranties may not be possible with unauthorized dealers but you can be confident that most of the reviews report that the market prices are competitive and in line with retail pricing. When finally you found a good wholesale car audio systems at a bargain price do an online search, and beware of tons of sites purporting to be legit wholesalers and test it out before finalizing your decision.

Gracia is an expert on buying wholesale from 100% verified wholesale suppliers. You've Got to Know Where to Look

By Kevin H Thomas

Have you decided what type of thing you want to sell on eBay? If so, it's time to find suppliers that will help your business become successful. There are a couple of ways to find the right suppliers to work with to start making money quickly. Use phrases like "music CDs dropshipper" or "pet accessories dropshipper" to locate wholesalers who will accept orders from you and ship the goods to your customers. The ins and outs change from vendor to vendor, so check out a bunch and bookmark the ones you like.

On top of the more general search, you can also check out websites that have already put together a list of wholesalers for eBay sellers. There are a couple pretty good ebooks and websites that can hook you up with a bunch of potential drophippers. The advantage of these sites and ebooks you get to find out what others think about specific vendor partners. You also get some good tips on the best items to sell on eBay, as well as some ideas on how to write the ads for you auction and eBay store.

You can find plenty of sources online, but don't neglect offline sources. Magazines dedicated to working at home often have articles and advertisements about wholesale dropship supply companies that you can consider. Simply visit your local library. They usually have several copies you can look through and get some ideas for product sourcing for eBay.

Finding the right dropshippers is critical to the success of your eBay business. While you can purchase them from local retail stores, you probably will not get a discount on your purchase. One way that you can get the best PDA deals is to use online auction sites. However, you need to follow a few guidelines in order to make a good purchase.

Research retail prices for the item that you want. Some auctions are listed at retail or even more. Then, research the selling prices for completed auctions for the items that you are interested in. Make sure to note the condition of the product sold as this can greatly affect the price. This will give you an idea of the going rate for the item on that particular site.

Shipping prices vary. Do not bid if the shipping amount is not listed, or you may get a nasty surprise when you win. You can either email the seller for the cost, or only choose to deal with those that either quote a flat rate or provide a shipping calculator. Check also which shipping service is being used as you may not want an expensive item sent by first class mail or worse, have to wait weeks because a budget shipping method was used

Before placing a bid, check the feedback. You want to choose someone who has a high feedback rating. Although a negative here or there is to be expected especially with those who do a large volume of sales, the overall score should be high. Make sure that the seller has sold a number of items, preferably over 100, so you have some assurance that they are not fly-by-night. Also, look if the feedback is mostly from purchases rather than sales. Some unscrupulous people will buy a bunch of products to get a good rating and then turn around and rip people off when they list their own items.

If you are uncomfortable making a large purchase online, escrow services are available. These serve as a middleman between you and the lister so that you have some assurance that you will receive what you bought.

By following the tips above, you should be able find the best smartphone and PDA deals at online auction sites.

Visit Best PDA Deals to find your new device!

How to Make Money Online With Drop Shipping

By Shon Christopher

In this article I want to talk about a way to make money online that anyone can do once they understand it. I am talking about making money on the internet with drop shipping.

For you drop shipping is a type of retailing where you do not keep your products in stock, but instead pass the order and shipping details to a wholesaler, who then dispatches the goods to the customer directly. You make your profit on the difference between the wholesale price you are billed and retail price you sell it for.

It sounds easy enough so how do you get started.

First of all you need to find a product that people are going to want to buy. A quick way to do that is look at what people are searching for online. You can do a keyword search here to see how many times that word is being searched in a particular month: http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion

The more a word is being searched the more it may contain a product that will be in demand. Let's do one for the keyword phrase "baseball" without the quotation marks. This brings up over 500,000 searches at the time I am writing this. By looking at the list you can see potential products to sell including baseball bats, baseball cards, baseball equipment, baseball gloves, and so on.

Next we need a place to provide the products. Do a Google search for the words "baseball equipment affiliate program" and one that comes up in position one is baseballwarehouse.com. When we go to their website we see that they do have an affiliate program. Clicking on that link shows us that they are eager to have people like you selling their products and all you have to do is fill out a short form provided by Commission Junction who manages their affiliate program for them.

They are going to provide you with the products, collect the money, drop ship all products for you and even allow you to provide a coupon coded with your affiliate number for phone orders. You make money on all of your sales and never handle the product. This is the beauty of drop shipping. No warehouse needed, no office staff, no inventory, nothing!

In the case of baseballwarehouse.com if you have a website they will provide you with banners and links to place on your site leading to your affiliate site which generates business for you.

This approach will work for any product you want to sell and have drop shipped for you. A key point for you to make money online with drop shipping is to find several companies to partner with and then find out who you like to work with. Obviously your commissions are important, but other considerations on who you drop ship from is things like quality of products, how reliable they are, and how easy they are to do business with.

If this appeals to you then get started today and find a few good companies to partner with and start making money online with drop shipping.

Free Information Reveals Powerful Money Making Method That Will Have You Quickly & Easily Generating Real Online Profits From Home Even If You've Tried & Failed Numerous Times Before. http://www.homeprofitsonline.com

Wholesaler - Are You Real? How to Find a Real Wholesaler

By John Dumas

With the advent of the Internet, wholesaler scams run rampid. Today there are many Internet sites that add a few points to a real wholesalers cost and then try to pass themselves off as a wholesaler to you.

Since we have opened a trading route with China, there has been a barrage of cheap products available to U.S. resellers. But the problem in dealing with China is that in most cases you may either end up getting cheaply made products or counterfeit products.

So then... how do you go about finding real wholesalers?

You basically have three options.

1. Do the wholesaler locating research yourself, which will involve hours upon hours and sometimes weeks or months of research. I've been there, no fun at all. And you will still have to figure out which ones are real and which ones are fakes.

2. Pay the huge fees that the wholesale membership sites ask for. I don't really know if any of them are legit or not because you can not believe what you read on the Internet most on the time. They all boast of offering you access to many thousands of products and some of them may, but they are all pretty expensive.

3. Take the hassle out of locating wholesalers. I sell on eBay as a hobby and am an eBay Powerseller. I got started with the product from the site below. It was concise and had more info than I will ever use. And a real bargain at twice its low price. And right now they are offering a 75% off special price.

So... you decide how you wish to find your wholesalers. But however you do it just remember one thing, real wholesale distributors never charge you a fee to purchase their products.

To make your product sourcing much easier you should check out http://eliteipodman.com/ today.

Turn a Few Minutes' Research Into a Lifetime of Big Profit Sales on eBay

By Avril Harper

I do a lot of research, every day, and I always find something to benefit my business, including some of these things I learned just this morning:

Console game systems, including wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 are currently the overall most popular searches on eBay worldwide. (Source: eBay Pulse).

Notice the operative word 'overall' in the last sentence, which identifies those console games as the currently most searched terms on eBay. This does not mean you should focus product selection entirely on those items, in line with countless other generally lazy eBay sellers.

Too much emphasis on overall top keywords leads to market saturation and reduced profits for everyone and it doesn't take long to happen. Far better look for keyword searches a little further down the list and focus on these products first, before they become top sellers and competition grows top heavy.

Research tells me most top PowerSellers choose products people buy in multiple quantities, regardless of individual product profit potential. In the USA it transpires the top selling product this week is Baby Milk Vouchers, which one PowerSeller boasts as having sold between 250 and 800 vouchers to each of six main customers.

The second biggest category for multiple buys is records and DVDs, alongside collectable photos (spot my article on the subject elsewhere in the newsletter), Japanese stamps, also shoes for men and women.

Just one or two multi-product buyers on your books can generate a full time living from just a few different products. They should be items that are quickly consumed and in need of constant replenishment, like milk tokens, and other foods and household goods.

Research also tells me top PowerSellers are actually making money in saturated markets, like DVDs and records, shoes and jewellery, but they're not selling one-off items with high unit profits. They're selling items many people buy in abundance, sometimes twenty at a time, and generating high profits from very low individual product profit margins.

The end result of effective market research can be higher profits; improved product selection techniques; better communications between product suppliers, customers and yourself; less time wasted doing tasks that can easily be automated or delegated; lower product and operating costs; better customer feedback; more successful listings; more bidders and better finishing prices, and more money for you.

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com - She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html

Research Your Business on eBay and Double Your Profits Daily

By Avril Harper

Though not complicated, research can be a little confusing to the novice who will find so many different aspects of his business to investigate and many places to seek information to benefit his bottom line. Not forgetting plentiful choice between who does the research, how and where it is done, how much it costs and how effective each option might be.

No one knows the full extent of facilities available to help research your eBay business; some are online and some off; some are free and some will set you back hundreds of pounds every year. You must choose carefully and select something that suits your business and budget, now and in the immediate future.

Just a few minutes searching for new products can add a brand new income stream to your eBay business and potentially double your profits right away.

Choice of how to research an eBay business is entirely down to personal preference, based on the size of your business, backed by your own skills and experience, budget, and time available.

* You Might Not Need Outside Help. If you sell just one product, like hand made teddy bears, all the same design, and you sell just two or three items a week, you're unlikely to need experts to research how best to improve your business. You probably know more than the experts already about your product and all you need do is locate others selling similar products and spy on their selling activities, look for ideas that work well for them which might also benefit you. eBay's Advanced Search facility will serve you well, as will a number of good software programs that work directly between your desktop and the Internet, from firms like eSeller Street and Hammertap, mentioned later. If you sell hundreds of different products, on several eBay country sites, some from wholesalers, others from dropshippers, and you work full time at listing products and fulfilling orders, then outside help may be worthwhile.

THE OPTIONS

* Industry Wide v Individual Research. Industry wide research affects all or a large proportion of buyers and sellers, listing categories, countries. Industry wide research might show which are currently the hottest selling products on eBay America, which eBay country sites are the biggest exporters and which deal mainly in domestic markets, what time of the week does audience participation peak in the UK and is this the best time to close your auctions for heavier bidding and higher finishing prices? Individual research pertains to one seller or firm, and generally involves specific elements of your business. It could, for example, highlight recent past best performing eBay categories for your products, reasons for and ways to counter a surge in negative feedback, how to distinguish responsible dropshippers from others causing problems for your buyers and generating chargebacks for you, and so on.

* Online and Offline Resources. By far the best research is either web site based or requires you to connect to the Internet. eBay, as most commercial ventures, is dynamic, it changes daily, what suits your business today may be inappropriate a few days from now. So that manual you picked up at the newsagents last week, which reveals all the important changes affecting your business, might already be worthless, unlike a software program or eBook with potential for regular Internet updates.

* Free and Paid for Resources, eBay Based and Non-eBay Based Research. You don't have to pay others to research on your behalf, virtually all you need to know is available online, from eBay, from specialist business research web sites, from forums and blogs. If time isn't a problem the do it yourself approach may suit you best. Otherwise shop around for a service that provides the information you want at a price you're prepared to pay. You'll find lots of quality information free and low cost research options from such as Hammertap, Terapeak, even eBay itself.

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com - She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html

Forget the Experts, Do Your Own eBay Research, And Not Only Cut Costs But Increase Your Profits Also

By Avril Harper

Certain important facts and figures can be accessed via your eBay personal account whenever there's new stock to list. This includes imminent cheap listing days, noting eBay site maintenance times, studying buyer and seller feedback, and so on. You can also research your own eBay listings, past and current, looking for better performing eBay categories, most profitable auction ending times, and so on.

Regular DIY research also helps create a more professional image and increase your selling chances for products you've never seen before and don't know their worth. Just the name of the product from your local auction house catalogue is all you need to check current and completed auctions for items you may have never before seen or touched. Research on eBay helps you choose a listing category, starting price, auction duration, and to create a description of the product based on previous best price sales.

Find past auctions by clicking on 'Advanced Search' near the top of any eBay page, next page key words to describe the item into the search box, tick 'Completed Auctions Only', next page right of screen on the scroll menu choose 'Price: Highest First'. Study the best selling items, prices coloured green to indicate items actually sold as opposed to red showing items that didn't sell.

ADVANCED RESEARCH TECHNIQUES

It's good to know what's happening in the day-to-day running of your business and that might be all it takes to run a hugely profitable eBay venture. But if you want to run a full-time business or expand your current venture you really should look at overall eBay marketing facts and figures and adapt any you think might benefit your business. For example, knowing that a particular time each week finds many more people actively bidding on eBay in the USA, or elsewhere, is valuable information that helps you determine when to end your auctions for maximum profit. But that peak time may change, sometimes quickly, so knowing what is good practice today may be less appropriate a few weeks from now. Locating all this information by yourself about how best to run your eBay business demands ongoing research, it takes time, lots of time, and it doesn't suit everyone.

That's why many successful eBayers consider DIY research too expensive in terms of time and effort and view the membership fee paid to research companies, even eBay's own Marketplace Research system a small price to pay to access vital information literally in seconds.

The choice is yours but DIY or pay for it, you're almost guaranteed to grow your profits greatly on eBay.

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com - She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html

Big Profits Selling Vintage Photographs on eBay

By Avril Harper

Photographs as popular and immensely valuable collectibles cover a multitude of creative types (vintage portraits in golden lockets, real photographic postcards, stereoviews); processing methods from the very early days to recent times; subjects and photographers, and more besides. Like many major collecting interests it is almost impossible for any person to buy or sell everything of interest to photograph collectors and virtually every seller must hone in on a profitable area to focus their attentions.

So, just because this article focuses on vintage photographs up to the beginning of the 20th century, does not suggest this is the most profitable area for eBay sellers. Overall this area probably is the most profitable and certainly the easiest to specialise in, but occasionally one finds a modern photograph fetching hundreds of pounds, even more on eBay.

So, while we suggest ways for you to specialise in vintage photographs we also recommend you keep an eye open for other opportunities alongside, especially at local auction where you'll often find recent photographs selling for a few pennies each which have good potential on eBay.

Look at these recent values for photographs from the middle part of the 20th Century.

* A photograph of Marilyn Monroe by Lawrence Schiller taken in 1962 sold at Christie's a few years back for $800.

* A signed photograph of Scientology founder L. Rob Hubbard from the 1950s fetched $6,750.00

* A signed photograph of Myrna Loy from the mid-1900s fetched $1631.00 on eBay

* A photograph of Albert Einstein from 1947 by photographer Phillipe Halsman fetched $1425.00 on eBay

Note that autographed photographs and others by well known and collectable photographers typically increase value over photos per se.

Photographers of note from vintage and modern times whose work commands a premium over less well known photographers include: Vintage: Frances Firth, Roger Fenton, Gustave Le Gray.

A NOTE ABOUT MODERN DAY PHOTOGRAPHERS

You'll sometimes find recent photographs fetching several thousand pounds and valued for their creator rather than photograph type or subject. Modern art photography is usually listed under Art > Photographic Images in both the UK and USA, and features award winning photographers like Ansel Adams, Brett Weston and Berenice Abbott.

These recent prices should whet your appetite to learn more about modern photography once you've got to grips with selling much older photos on eBay.

* April 2007 - a photograph of freshly fallen snow in America's Yosemite Valley taken by Ansel Adams in 1947 fetched $7,600.00 on eBay USA

* April 2007 - a photograph of the Mendenhall II Glacier in 1973, signed by the photographer, Brett Weston in 1973, fetched $5,400.00

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com - She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html

Methods of Processing Photographs and How They Affect Their Value on eBay

By Avril Harper

From the early days the processing of photographs went through many changes, each designed to make photography clearer and cheaper, less technical and available to the masses. Many famous inventors joined the race and their names are now synonymous with the photographic process they invented, such as Daguerre (Daguerreotype photographs), William Fox Talbot (Calotype), Blanquart Everard (albumen paper made from albumen in chickens' eggs).

Many high value photographs owe more to their processing qualities than actual images they depict, especially albumen photographs and daguerrotypes, which can fetch incredibly high prices today.

But it takes a trained eye to spot these different processing types and if you take too long studying them you could miss out on buying less technologically valuable, but potentially much more profitable CDVs, Stereviews and Cabinet portraits. So I suggest you begin with these three photographic types and learn about more advanced features as you go along. I confess I know very little about the individual processing methods but I still make good money listing photos on eBay.

BUYING TIPS

I'm not going to put too fine a point on this: hugely profitable photographs can be found virtually anywhere, at boot sales, flea markets, even jumble sales and charity shops. The fact is photos are rarely discarded and most families keep their valuable memories safe and in one place to hand down through the generations until finally someone decides to offload them at auction or other venue. You'll even find plenty selling on eBay, in bulk, which with a little thought, are often found to contain one or two really high price items among a multitude of generally low value photos.

* Your best hunting ground is local auction rooms, especially in rural areas, where you'll usually find lots of Victorian photograph albums which alongside family photographs (cabinet portraits and CDVs) are also home to interesting social history illustrations such as bicycles, prams, children playing with teddy bears and rocking horses. These additional features, rather than purely people studies, are usually worth a premium on eBay.

* Small regional auction rooms are great places to find complete family collections retained sometimes over one hundred years plus and featuring vintage alongside more recent photographic images. This is especially so at country auctions featuring sales of rural estates and farms which have passed down through several generations until someone decides to sell up. These can be a goldmine of fabulous photographs from very early times and a positive Aladdin's Cave of other paper collectibles such as postcards and newspapers.

* At auction and offline sales if you find one potentially price record-breaking photograph, you'll very often find a hoard of similar items in the same lot or selling separately alongside. These are invariably worth buying in expectation of higher prices on eBay but be careful and don't risk more than you can afford. At least you'll get your money back, at best you could make hundreds or thousands of dollars on every photograph, sorry, photo, and you'll hardly ever lose money on the deal.

* The great thing is our predecessors tended to value photographs more than people today and you'll usually find all photographs over many decades contained in one place, a drawer for example, or large box, and invariably well packed and containing many unusual views of local topography and social history alongside purely family portraits.

* At the turn of the 19th / 20th centuries many newspapers and magazines began replacing hand drawn and engraved illustrations in their publications with photographic images which are collectable in their own right. On eBay, and elsewhere, you'll find people selling pages clipped from magazines containing text and photographs and achieving very good prices.

Here's a big tip: rather than dismantle an old publication to sell photographic images separately, try scanning one or two items while still in their original binding. If these items sell, try a few more, if those sell, consider dismantling the main item and list individual articles with photographic images.

I have often found this technique more than quadruples, sometimes much more than quadruples the potential resell value of the original publication. My most profitable sources for this technique include 'Illustrated London News', 'Graphic', 'Sphere', but there are many others you'll usually find selling at low prices at local auction.

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com - She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html

eBay Marketing Tips - 4 Tips to Trigger a Landslide of Sales For Your eBay Business

By Fabian Tan

eBay marketing is a wonderful way to test drive a new product but for many eBay sellers, the eBay store is their only retail outlet. When you are in this situation, you want to make every dollar count toward your ultimate goal of more sales revenue. Whether or not you elect to become an eBay Power Seller, you can benefit from these tips to boost your income on eBay.

Pictures

Use professional quality pictures of your products to increase the number of eBay marketing success stories. Even when the product is inexpensive, people still like to see an actual picture of what they are bidding on.

Price History

Before you list an item on eBay, be sure to review the history of similar items in the past in order to determine whether or not the product is likely to sell and whether it will bring a price that makes the listing worthwhile in terms of cost and effort.

Shipping

Planning ahead to know how your item can best be physically transferred to the successful bidder is another feature of successful eBay marketing efforts. The seller is the one who determines the shipping options, but your feedback ratings will be much more favorable if you let the bidders know ahead of time what their shipping options are. It is likely to make a difference in the size of the bids that are submitted.

Payment Options

If you offer a wide range of payment options so that bidders can use cash, PayPal, or credit cards as well as others, you are more likely to attract prospective bidders with your eBay marketing efforts.

Fabian Tan is a well-known Internet Marketing expert and the author of the popular 45-page Report:

"Murder Your Job: How To Build Cash Sucking Autopilot Businesses In 30 Days Or Less!"

Head over to http://www.MurderYourJob.com to get your FREE copy now!

Also, quickly download his FREE "Explosive Traffic System" report that shows you how to generate 10,000+ targeted visitors per month at no cost! => http://www.ExplosiveTrafficSystem.com

eBay Marketing Secrets - Your Recipe For Rapid eBay Business Success

By Fabian Tan

With literally millions of sellers and customers on this granddaddy of online auctions, eBay marketing has to constantly change in order to be current and to hold a market share. Here are some tips to help create and keep a successful online auction presence at eBay.

Know Who You Are

eBay marketing needs run the gamut of mom and pop sellers cleaning out grandma's attic to Fortune 500 businesses trying to claim a bigger market share with a full-blown retail store riding on the coat tails of eBay advertising. Of course eBay gets the benefits of the streams of merchandise listed on their site by the corporate giants. In order to make eBay work for you, you will need to determine first where you fit into this range of possibilities.

Niche Marketing and eBay

eBay has hundreds of niche markets available. You can make best use of eBay marketing strategies by understanding what your niche is and how it fits into the overall eBay community. The niche may be something other than your product. It can be the fact that you always ship within 36 hours.

Develop Goals and Principles for Your eBay Business

Your eBay marketing strategy can best be developed if you know and understand the mission for your business or organization. Take the time to write down the broader purpose of your business (other than making money) and use that purpose in developing a plan for marketing your product.

Branding Techniques

Successful eBay marketing will tie together your business name, logo, web site, blog and all the other technology driven opportunities on the internet today.

Laws That You Need to Know When Dropshipping

By William King

Just like any other business, online business, e-commerce or dropshipping are also supposed to abide by some laws and regulations. No matter what is the nature of online business, buyers and seller are hardly face to face, except of the information they exchange with each other, they are total strangers. Many fraudulent minds try to exploit this limitation. The purpose of e-commerce laws and regulation is to make online transactions as safe as possible. For buyers they provide protection against numerous types of frauds, for sellers it allows them to improve their credibility. These rules and regulations are mainly applicable to payment, advertising and privacy issues.

Advertising:
Internet advertising is just about a decade old but its growth has been second to none. Businesses are attracted by the fact that they can access a lot of customers while spending minimum. There are so many advertising options to choose from (websites, corporate blogs, e-mail marketing, banner advertisements, affiliate marketing), but unlike other advertising mediums where customers watch some advertisement, go to the market and try the product themselves before purchasing it, they have to rely totally on advertised material while making a decision in e-commerce. This is why advertisement should be factual, and not consisting of false claims. Prices (with clear mentioning of "including" or "excluding" tax) should be stated clearly. Customers should not be misled in any way.

Payment & Shipment:
Customer should take utmost care when placing orders after reading the terms & conditions. A confirmation for both the order and payment should reach the customers as soon as possible. Ideally, a printable receipt of the payment should be provided to the customers. Shipment must reach the customers in due time. Supplier is responsible for any damages which occur to the product in shipment unless the contrary is clearly mentioned in terms & condition.

Spam & Privacy:
Spam is the bundle of uninvited e-mails or messages, from some unknown businesses or persons; we receive in our inbox regularly. Internet spam is as old as internet itself. E-mail marketing is not illegal, but you need to clearly mention your contact details and an option for the recipient to stop you from sending anymore promotional messages. Another problem which internet users face is the violation of their privacy. User name and passwords, storing cookies on customer computers and data sharing with third parties are the areas where an extra cautious approach is needed.

William King is the director of UK Wholesale Suppliers & Dropshippers and Wholesale Trade Suppliers. Or it could be a postcard or photograph someone placed in a book to keep it flat and stop it from getting dirty, but they forgot about it and you find it many decades later. So what was once a common item is now a rare collectible and in excellent condition.

My own experience of hidden finds in products I'm looking to sell on eBay has included in memoriam cards which were funeral cards created in their hundreds whenever a person died in Victorian times, not only celebrities but less prominent individuals also.

Only recently in a book I paid less than two dollars for at online auction I found sixteen funeral cards for men killed in mining accidents at New Shildon Colliery in the North East of England in 1880 and another very ornate design to commemorate children killed when a public building collapsed on top of them in Sunderland in the mid 1800s.

Keep an eye out for similar items in books and magazines which in themselves might be dirty and damaged and attracting no interest at book sales and flea markets, or local auctions and collectors' fairs. These are the items no one else wants anyway, so you'll pay very little for them, and the extra contents might fetch you a really big bonus on eBay.

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html

Sorting Out the Winners From Losers on EBay

By Avril Harper

Running a profitable eBay business owes everything to scrupulous planning and constant market research; success rarely happens by accident or luck. Market research is an investigative process that aims to prevent problems and suggest ways to improve current performance, by targeting one or more areas of your business, from locating and pricing stock, to choosing product listing categories, deciding when to start and how long to run your auctions, etc.

Research is vital to your business, from the day it opens, to the minute you retire or sell the business or pass it on to someone else. The investigative process is not that difficult or time-consuming and most of the important work is done for you already, by specialist companies, often for free!

Research is vital to understanding your business, its strengths and weaknesses, and helps you view your business from the outside, without making excuses, without bias. It's a bit like mystery shopping your high street premises, where anonymous shoppers call on you, check you out, report back on their findings - good and bad - and suggest ways for you to correct weaknesses and expand on your strong points.

For eBay sellers, the process similarly involves analysing and gathering commercial data, compiling statistics and looking for trends and important factors that could benefit or adversely affect your business, primarily its reputation and profits.

But that's just the start, the most important feature of commercial research of any kind is to actually use the end result to benefit your business, today and in the years to come.

Avril Harper is a business writer and eBay PowerSeller who has produced several guides to making money from eBay and other online sources which you can read about at: http://www.avrilharper.com She offers several free Internet marketing guides which you can download right away at: http://www.avrilharper.com/freestuff.html
