Social Media in Business

This is taking place at a swanky hotel known as the Crowne Plaza, in Marlow, Bucks, UK, just a stones throw away from our Audana H.Q.

Probably the best way to get the flavour of what the conference is about is to pop along to the website itself, though I would say here that we are squarely targeting those companies who are not yet enriched with the “power” (that’s a terrible phrase) of Social Media.

No, the conference will share case-studies from social media experts who are at the coal-face, running social media strategies for house-hold brand names, and will provide a balanced view of the area in terms of what works, what doesn’t work, along with one of my favourites, ensuring that brand reputation is as you desire it to be.

The ticket includes a complimentary lunch, and all day refreshments.

We are really looking forward to meeting new people and old friends alike.

Pop along if you can make it, register here.

The MediaCamps are part of our Audana’s social media division, which incidentally we operate under the banner of the Social Media Mafia, and in fact have an associated “tribe” or “community” who are incredibly resourceful. However, in “SOCIAL” good spirit we’d not claim ownership of the “tribe” although we would go so far as to say it is a lever of sorts, which can release potential or influential exaggeration, or amplification, naturally both positively or negatively.

If you are interested in our “tribe” pop along to the Social Media Mafia website.

One of our clients, studiorecordingengineer.com (SRE), is engaging in a user-generated content competition which asks anyone with some flair to submit a new shiny logo for the site.

SRE is a busy forum for budding studio recording engineers wanting to find answers, meet new people or generally help-out in their chosen community. The site has been running a style theme for a number of years with a white text upon a black background and a smattering of red to give some vibrancy.

Whilst the current logo “works” it has been decided that a new web2.0 style logo will be used for some advertising campaigns and general online and offline branding.

The Prize

As the competition is “open” to the general public the winner can expect some very good profitability including the following:

•	Prize money of $2000USD
•	Full credit for the logo throughout the lifetime of use
•	Promotion for the designer on the site itself and other competition collateral, such as this blog and other channels

The Rules

•	Competition closes December 14 2007
•	Logos must be submitted to Flickr.com with the tags: SRE, Studio Recording Engineer, Logo Competition
•	Any amount of entries can be submitted by a user
•	Drawings can be created and scanned in
•	You grant exclusive worldwide rights of use of the logo to SRE should you win
•	Animated logos will be accepted
•	By entering you agree to become part of the publicity for the campaign itself

How To Enter

Send a link of your submission url to audana@googlemail.com with “SRELogo” as the subject line. Include your full name, country and contact details and website so we can show off who you are.

Judging

3 finalists will be short-listed to be taken forward to an xmas launch of the new logo.

The Audana Podcast is something special for us on many levels, particularly when I take into consideration how much I love the medium of audio, when I remember our strong background within the audio/music industries, and also how important it is we strike the right relationship with our clients and present the appropriate “mood” which encapsulates who we are and how we think as a new-media company.

The above reflections then have a bearing on how I and we think about choosing the theme tune for our Podcast, it is no easy task to choose believe me. With so much wonderful music around, and in particular composed by musicians who think like us, we could have a constantly changing theme, but I personally feel the “BRAND” of our casts is better suited with an association of one audio image.

The tune has to reflect a sense of creativity, reflection, and a dynamic which I feel “we” as, a company, ooze. The tune must conjure up in the listener all of those feelings and sensations, and set them up for the content in the cast.

So our choice is “Kind Of Grey” by Delaware which perfectly matches our expectations, their influences include Zero 7, Sheryl Crow, KT Tunstall, Fleetwood Mac, Aimee Mann, Morcheeba, Rickie Lee Jones and we think that is apparent in “Kind Of Grey”. Ben is actually a great friend of mine also, so the fact that I have his blessing to use this tune is magic, thank you Ben.

So I extend my gratitude to Delaware, please do go and check them out and tap into a wonderful song writing duo.

Audana Design (http://audana.com), the modern new-media development company working at the cutting edge of web technologies has launched their website to provide a HUB for showcasing their portfolio and growing client list.

Audana Design, conceptualised in 2007, is a new-media design and marketing company specialising in online awareness campaigns including social networking sites, website solutions, brand buzzing, product placements, Web2.0 channels.

The company is part of the Audiocourses.com Ltd Company and is firmly focussed on creative solutions for companies seeking to engage with their audience in the new-media playground. “We are finding more and more companies are now looking for modern approaches to their advertising and marketing, where traditional advertising is failing them. Prospects now see right through old school advertising, and instead desire to engage fully with the brand and a company’s products” states CEO Chris Hambly.

Audana Design has gotten off to a flying start by working closely on a campaign with Crayon, whose clients include The Coca-Cola Company. Audana Design developed a prototype product for Coca-Cola, as part of the “Virtual Thirst” campaign for the 3D world SecondLife, where currently 6 million residents spend hours a week socialising and building virtual businesses.

“The dance bottle machine we developed for Coca Cola has been incredibly popular with The Coca-Cola Company, Crayon, and the prospects, and it serves to show others the potential of 3D immersive worlds, and more importantly for marketers, the potential for engaging with a product fully. You can hop on the machine and be dancing inside the bottle of Coca Cola itself, it’s very powerful product engagement”, Hambly states.

Audana Design is open for business and delivering high-quality creative new approaches for companies, which are creating a buzz in their own right.

Pizza and Mayo is a cute little portal which asks one question per page, typically a question where there is one, usually obvious, answer. Do you prefer coffee or tea? - For example.

The idea for this wordpress driven site is really about presenting slightly thought-provoking text, where the text presented asks one question, one subject, with the sole purpose of drawing a user response. The minimalist design is definitely purposeful in this matter for focussing the mind on just that one thought, that one question.

The conceptualisation came together on the back-end of an interesting story concerning a friend of mine CC Chapman.

CC was in NYC on some business and letting his twitter followers know that he was thinking of grabbing a pizza, when I replied “try some mayo on your pizza”, you may say the same as CC, (WHAT!!!) but trust me it does work, of course not if you dislike mayo, but if you like mayo, it works good.

So the sight was born, a teaser for presenting slightly off the wall comparisons, questions, subjects.

There is currently an rss feed available along with the ability to have any new questions e-mailed to subscribers.

The data-set collected may be re-used in some way in the future; I’m not sure yet, not even sure how or why, but possibly it could build up a profile of the posters.

Do penguins have knees?

Magantune is an “Open Music” record company.

Open Music is music that is shareable, available in “source code” form, allows derivative works and is free of cost for non-commercial use. It is the concept of “open source” computer software applied to music.

Magnatune are operational within SecondLife, the 3D immersive platform, and are providing their entire catalogue of music to the residents with the help of the Radio Cube we designed for them.

The concept here is that a resident can pop along to Magnatune HQ, grab a radio full of radio stations which will then stream into the residents own land.

The design is very simple, yet incredibly effective in that it is a mere one prim, and when clicked presents the user with a menu of radio stations available for listening to.

We were delighted to be a part of helping Magnatune, expand their presence in SecondLife.

The idea behind this project was to bring about a conceptualisation of a “Coke Experience” in the 3D world of SecondLife.

Three unconnected designers were approached to create prototypes which would then be used to launch the official Coca Cola Virtual Thirst competition in-world.

The short machinima clip below gives you a very quick overview and a taste for our Dance Machine which has proven to be very popular.
