A diesel with 1200 Newton metres of torque and 560 HP (412 kW)? Even though the figures might suggest otherwise, ABT Sportsline is by no means now consorting with the manufacturers of heavy truck engines. The world`s largest tuner of vehicles from the Volkswagen group has merely made it its business to take the most powerful car diesel engine of all times, built in the Audi Q7, and squeeze even more power out of it.

Although the over five metres long SUV, with its standard 500 HP (368 kW) and 1000 Newton metre torque, is already a trump card which slots into any quartet. Within the scope of their “armament program” ABT POWER, the Bavarian company, has saddled it with real power, so that now when the driver puts the accelerator down a surge of HP and torque is set into motion, which even many sports cars would struggle to keep up with. For clarification: with its 6-gear tip-Tronic the 2.6 tonne vehicle slingshots itself on 100 km/h from standing in just 5.3 seconds and reaches 258 km/h.

The performance curves gain as much importance as the top values, from which it is soon clear that the additional HP has not been achieved at the cost of exorbitant revolution speed, but is available just as early as in the series standard – at 3750 rpm.

ABT Sportsline of course offers a large selection of light-alloy wheels in sizes of up to 22 inch for the AS7 with the most powerful diesel engine of all time. Right in accordance with the motto “powerful engine – powerful design”.

Out back, the sporty styling theme continues as Caractere offers a bold rear diffuser with optional tailpipe exhaust tips. The company also markets their unique CW1 wheels which are available in 19″ and 20″ sizes.

Audi customizer Senner Tuning has released details about their latest modification. The German company’s Audi A5 Black and White is now available. Engineers first attacked the cars aerodynamics and weight by installing a carbon fiber spoiler apron with matching side-mirror housings. Carbon fiber is also used on a new rear bumper, one of many alterations at the back.

Also found is a new rear spoiler and lip, new LED taillights, and a customized stainless steel quad-exhaust. Total cost of these mods: €3377.

New 20-inch ASA GT1 alloy wheels were also mounted. The wheels are available in either Shiny Silver or Matte Black, with the possibility of a separate color ring trim near the wheels’ edge. Choices for the rim lip include orange, white, red, and silver. Measuring 9×20 in front, 10.5×20 in back, the wheels are wrapped in Vredestein ultra Sessanta XL tires. The company mounted a Bilstein B16 PSS10 fully adjustable coilover suspension to enhance the handling capabilities. These changes cost just under €4600.

Track wheels are also available for an additional €250.

Senner Tuning also retuned the engine to make it more powerful and performance-driven. The 3.0-liter TDI now produces 300 horsepower and a maximum 600 Nm of torque. Speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h. When combined with the new sport air filter, the cost of the under-the-hood modifications is €1649.

Last, designers looked at the car’s interior, and decided some further changes needed to be made. They used silver-lined carbon fiber to surround the ashtray cover, center console, and both the front and rear door panels. Total price for this is €1690. The company charges an additional €395 to trim out the instrument cluster.

All in all, the car does look pretty hot with all these changes. But for over €11,700, maybe mix-and-matching only select modifications is a better decision than getting the full package.

The Audi A3 has been a real success, one which re-defined the term “premium” for the compact car class. An extra portion of dynamism in the optics and the performance is offered by ABT Sportsline. The renowned vehicle turner of course also took on the facelifted version of the long-term best-seller from the Ingolstadt company – and thanks to the modified bonnet, grill, bumpers, fenders and LED light line from their product range the car has an even greater presence.

It stands there as if it`s ready to attack, even more so with the ABT bodywork kit signalising extra power and sportiness: its front spoiler insert, side skirts, fender inserts as well as a rear apron have been tailor made for the cool body of the ABT AS3. Even the typical ABT 4-pipe exhaust unit blends into the sporty design perfectly. The Allgaeu company recommends mounting model AR or BR ABT Sports alloys, which are available in 18 and 19 inch, as an extravagant supplement to the optical package.

It goes without saying that the AS3 does not just look fast, but is fast too. This is because ABT POWER also brings the engines up to speed: with it the 1.4 TSI, for example, brings a brisk 160HP (118kW) to the road instead of the series-standard 125HP (92kW). With the next largest unit, the 1.8 TSI 160HP (118kW) achieves an everyday 210HP (154kW). And the largest petrol engine, the 2.0 TSI, provides 240HP (177kW) with ABT as opposed to 200HP (147kW) in the basic version. In spite of the HP boost the fuel consumption does not increase and the reliability of the engines remains the same. ABT also offers performance increases for the two-litre turbo diesel: depending on the starting power output either 170HP (125kW) or 190HP (140kW) is achieved – and both bring plenty of torque with them.

In order to utilise the well-trained “ABT horses” in the best possible way on the road, ABT Performance Springs are recommended. Thanks to the lowering of the car`s centre of gravity by around 35 millimetres the agility of the AS3 is improved, which makes itself felt especially at corners. The ABT braking unit with its disc diameter of 345 millimetres provides the best deceleration values, even in borderline areas. All components have been tuned to the AS3, making the compact ABT a real sports car, both on the inside and outside.

Sportiness and elegant design are not mutually exclusive – at least when the designers at ABT Sportsline are involved. “It is important to capture the character of the car and emphasise its uniqueness”, says Hans-Juergen Abt, the General Manager of ABT Sportsline explaining the demands which are made on the creative department.

The result is a breathtakingly beautiful cabrio, which is recognisable as a real “Allgäuer” not just due to its typical 4-pipe exhaust unit. The front with the ABT grill, which additionally accentuates the area around the headlights and fog lights, the front apron and the side sills – all give the open AS5 even more presence. The rear apron and exhaust unit perfectly suit the optics of the extraordinary vehicle. To round of the successful appearance ABT recommends the cool bold BR alloys in 19 or 20 inch respectively. The company from Allgäu of course also offers complete wheel sets with high-performance tyres.

The AS5 Cabrio is a fresh air sports car, which is also quick in a tailor-made suit. The technicians at ABT Sportsline ensure this. There are currently four performance increase packages available: with ABT POWER, which is the optimisation of the electronic engine management system, the 2.0 TFSI receives a sporty 275HP (202kW) instead of the serial 180 HP (132kW) or 211HP (155kW). With the 2.7 TDI, 190HP (140kW) become a high-torque 230HP (169kW). With the three litre diesel this is increased to 282HP or 207kW (series standard: 240HP / 176kW). The ABT POWER S technology is also available to the V6 diesel with the largest engine capacity, which also employs an ABT turbo charger. 310HP (228kW) then provide superior handling in all situations, and with 610Nm torque it’s full steam ahead. Logically this power also has to be restrained. The ABT braking unit or ABT sports braking unit correspond to the additional performance potential of the AS5 Cabrio and provide the necessary safety reserves in borderline situations.

The open AS5 provides enormous driving enjoyment, especially of course when the sun is shining. But even with the roof closed the beautiful cabrio looks extremely cool. Regardless of whether it is a car for leisure or business – the latest addition from ABT Sportsline is the ideal companion in all situations.

The brand’s appearance at the 28th Wörthersee Tour (from May 20-23) in Reifnitz, Kärnten (Austria), is dedicated to the centennial celebration “100 years of Audi.”

In addition to historic models from various decades, the Ingolstadt carmaker is featuring showcase vehicles such as the Audi TT RS, the Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro and the Audi A1 Sportback. As a special highlight for the event at Wörthersee, Audi has prepared a customized Audi Q5 with 21-inch wheels, wider track, lowered ride height, a special paint finish and a power-enhanced 3.0 TFSI engine: the Audi Q5 custom concept.

This is Audi’s third official appearance at the Wörthersee Tour. Among the events planned for the roughly 3,000 square meter stand on the south bank of the lake is the launch of an exclusive online idea contest for Audi accessories – the “Audi Customizing Club” (see box).

An “architectural” timeline guides those visiting the stand through the history of Audi as a carmaker. This timeline ends at a stage in the form of a banked curve with cars from Audi’s current model lineup and a concept car.

Along the timeline itself are vehicles from various decades of Audi’s history – from the Audi 50 via the Ur-quattro to the Audi A2. Audi is showing a total of 20 vehicles at its stand.

Prominently featured is the Audi Q5 custom concept: Audi engineers prepared this particularly sporty version of the SUV specially for the Wörthersee Tour. The test bed for Audi Genuine Accessories in the custom color Daytona Gray, matt rolls on 21-inch wheels of 7 twin-spoke design. Compared to the production model, the track was widened by 90 millimeters (3.54 in) and the ride height lowered by 60 millimeters (2.36 in). The power output of the 3.0 TFSI V6 engine has been increased from 245 kW (333 hp) to 300 kW (408 hp), allowing the Audi Q5 custom concept to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds. Top speed is governed at 250 km/h (155 mph). (See box for technical data and equipment.)

Among the other showcase vehicles at Wörthersee are both the coupe and roadster versions of the new Audi TT RS. The turbocharged 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder engine in the TT RS pumps out 340 hp to deliver explosive acceleration, driving delight, and unrivalled sound. The TT RS sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in well under five seconds on its way to a governed top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The quattro permanent all-wheel drive, an advanced suspension and powerful brakes keep all this power safely under control. With its mostly aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF) body, the compact TT RS is an uncompromising driving machine.

On the subject of driving machines, the Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro is also on display at Wörthersee. This mid-engine sports car further extends Audi’s lead in the high-performance sports car segment. Developed in cooperation with quattro GmbH, the R8 5.2 FSI quattro is the new top-of-the-line R8. Its ten-cylinder engine produces 386 kW (525 hp) to deliver breathtaking performance. Audi technologies such as the lightweight aluminum body and the innovative full-LED headlights immediately place it at the head of the class. A time of 3.9 seconds for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and a top speed of 316 km/h (196 mph) underscore the sports car’s dynamic character.

Another very special member of the R8 family is also appearing at Wörthersee. The GT3 race version of the R8, the 500 hp R8 LMS, marks the first time that Audi Sport had developed a race car specifically for client racing. The ten-cylinder GT3 sports car is facing its first acid test this weekend (May 23 and 24): With factory support from Audi, the ABT Sportsline and Phoenix Racing teams have entered a total of four vehicles in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

Audi is also providing a peek at its upcoming entry in the compact class below the A3 at Wörthersee: The A1 Sportback concept is the concept car for a five-door four-seater – with all the characteristics of a true Audi. The car, which is 3.99 meters long and 1.75 meters wide (13.09 feet long by 5.74 feet wide), combines trendsetting dynamic styling with optimized space efficiency and superb quality. At the same time, a series of visionary technical solutions take efficiency, dynamism and motoring pleasure into new territory as only Audi knows how.

Audi is presenting another version of the innovative hybrid technology in the drive unit for the A1 Sportback concept. At work under the hood is a 1.4-liter TFSI engine developing 110 kW (150 hp), whose power is directed to the front wheels by means of the S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

A 20 kW (27 hp) electric motor integrated in the drive train is able to deliver up to an additional 150 Nm of torque (111 lb-ft) when the vehicle is accelerating. During the boosting phase, i.e. when the TFSI engine and electric motor operate simultaneously to enable a sporty driving style, the two power packs deliver impressive propulsion. The tried-and-tested front-wheel drive – supplemented by the newly developed, ESP-controlled active front differential lock – ensures optimum transfer of power to the road.

The electric motor is furthermore capable of powering the vehicle alone for zero-emission driving. The capacity of the lithium-ion batteries gives the vehicle a range of up to 100 km (62 miles) in pure electric mode; the motor can be recharged from any power socket. The automatic start/stop facility, energy recovery and phases of purely electrical operation reduce the fuel consumption and emissions of the Audi A1 Sportback concept by almost 30 percent compared to when it is running on the combustion engine alone. Despite the sporty performance with a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph), the Audi A1 Sportback concept consumes only 3.9 liters of super unleaded per 100 km (60.31 US mpg). CO2 emissions are 92 g/km (148 g/mile).

The Exclusive German Audi-tuner, PPI Automotive Design GmbH intensifies the fire and presents the special limited production Supercar, the PPI RAZOR GTR.

Performance
Following the introduction of the wildly successful PPI R8 RAZOR at last year’s Essen Motor Show, PPI Automotive Design GmbH have used all its knowledge from the past year in competition, closed road races, open road races, and research and development in the wind channel, autobahn and track testing, to create a truly inspired production car. The Audi specialist turned its focus on optimising the power-to-weight ratio of the Audi R8 while simultaneously strengthening the motor, increasing performance, improving handling dynamics, and managing to reduce the weight of the Audi R8.

The essential part of the motor alteration is the incorporation of a specially engineered supercharger. In addition, a ram-charged sport air filter system and a high performance exhaust system made of stainless steel have been designed and added specifically to work in conjunction with the supercharger system. These components are precisely adjusted to each other with the help of a new ignition map for motor electronics.

The result, after this extensive modification, is a car with up to 580hp / 427 kW at 7,400 rpm, a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 6,200 rpm at its disposal, and a weight decrease of 250 kg over its serial counterpart (serial curb weight 1,580 kg). Providing the PPI RAZOR GTR with the ability to achieve speeds from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.7 seconds with a maximum top speed of 332 km/h. This insures the proper performance to easily meet the demands of its motorsports and enthusiast clientele.

Aerodynamics
In addition to the excellent driving performance, this PPI Supercar also has a striking widebody appearance with elaborate, wind tunnel tested aerodynamics. Special attention was paid to the reduction of the vehicle’s weight, which was achieved by PPI’s extensive use of the extremely light and high-strength formula 1 and aerospace-proven Carbon Fibre. All parts are made of this high-tech material, reducing weight and adding strength in the process.

The PPI RAZOR GTR front bumper replaces the serial bumper and the new design in conjunction with a specially engineered front diffuser, reduces lifting forces at the front axle. Larger air inlets in connection with a new full LED-headlight unit present the two-seater with an even more athletic face. More importantly, these air inlets feed the radiators with additional fresh air and channels through the new front hood to provide optimal cooling to the brake system. PPI sideskirts highlight the sporty profile of the GTR and also diffuses the airflow around the sides of the car for improved aerodynamic stability.

In order to perfectly balance out the down-force behaviour of the front-axle with the rear axle, PPI equips the RAZOR GTR with a special rear wing with an adjustable Gurney-flap. The motor cover, made of the light high-tech polycarbonate material Makrolon®, also has specially designed Carbon Fibre ram-charged air inlets that replace the heavy OEM Engine cover and aid in cooling, ensuring the consistent performance of the RAZOR GTR. Aiding in the engine cooling, are the newly designed side blades, rear fenders and rear bumper allow for additional motor bay and exhaust cooling that, in conjunction with the Carbon Fibre rear diffuser, optimises the airflow over and through the rear portion of this sharp performance car.

Handling
The overall appearance of the car is further enhanced by a new widebody skin to allow the PPI RAZOR GTR the proper structure to accommodate all the performance enhancements and wider wheels. The RAZOR GTR utilizes specially designed lightweight MAG9 Carbon Fiber forged aluminum PPI wheels. At the front, 10Jx19 MAG9 wheels weighing 8.8kgs with 255/35 ZR 19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres are fitted and an impressive 12.0J x 20 MAG9 wheels weighing 10.0 kgs with 325/25 ZR 20 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres are used at the rear. This wheel and tyre-combination proves to be the optimal balance between comfort and control while maintaining proper road feedback for the driver.

PPI also developed a special high-performance braking system available only for the RAZOR GTR that can be identified by its metallic orange-coloured brake callipers. The optimal deceleration and perfect pedal pressure control is now achieved by enlarged 6-piston callipers in connection with extra-large discs measuring 380 x 36 millimetres at the front and 356 x 32 mm discs at the rear axle providing greater pad surface contact area and heat dissipation.

Nothing has been left untouched, as is evidenced by the new coil over kit developed in conjunction with technology partner KW Automotive GmbH. This system has been specially adjusted to the needs of the PPI RAZOR GTR. And comes equipped with a Hydraulic Lift System, which can increase ground clearance by up to 45 millimetres if needed and therefore enables the driver to enter underground car parks or drive over speed bumps.

Interior “Performance”
PPI completely re-designs the interior and turns the R8-interior into a “members-only” lounge with a motorsports flair. The serial interior is replaced by highest quality Onyx Nubuck-leather with orange-coloured accents and highlights. Additionally, PPI equips the limited edition RAZOR GTR with extensive Carbon Fibre throughout the cockpit; hand-brake lever, door sill protectors, Driver and Radio Console Surround, Door Trims, Center Console inserts, and kneepad trims, the ultra-light folding sport seats are also made of Carbon Fibre and bear the PPI “Sport Identity” style, following with the headliner, the steering wheel, shift knob, door panels and center console. The technical highlight of the interior is the ergonomically re-designed PPI sport steering wheel. Highlighting the exclusivity of this limited series production is PPI RAZOR GTR badging, threshold plates, and an aluminium production plaque framed by Carbon Fibre.

The new PPI RAZOR GTR Supercar…. BOLD Design, SHARP performance, and EXCLUSIVE production, developed and presented by PPI Automotive Design GmbH, the only tuners for Audi automobiles with a true focus on “Engineering in Style.”
