If we tune in to the radio and commercial music stations and hear wack hip hop, it doesn’t mean it’s dead, it means we’re not looking hard enough!!

For genuine Jazz music, one has to go back to the days of old and it arguably doesn’t get much better than John Coltrane. His talent; unparalleled, his music, legendary. The skill that accompanies his playing solidified his reputation in jazz history.

For this one, we decided to put ‘giant steps’ song here for your listening pleasure which, in our opinion, demonstrates one of the best tenor saxophone pieces we’ve heard. True Jazz music lovers will no doubt appreciate this one.

This is taken off his album of the same name, which demonstrated Coltrane’s gradual ascent into the avant-garde, one that any jazz lover needs to have in their collection. Enjoy!!!

The name:- Donnie. His album ‘The Colored Section’ is among some of the best neo-soul material I have ever heard!!

His voice and harmonies, with elements of Stevie and its clear church roots are effortless and refreshing. Good music its supposed makes you experience wonderful things. We recommended this one to a friend and she said...

'I haven't heard music and felt this way for a LONG time!!!'

His lyrics are excellent, full of meaning and sung with soul and deep passion. Some of our favourite tracks from the album include ‘Do You Know’ ‘Cloud 9’ ‘People Person’ ‘Colored Section’ and ‘Beautiful Me’ just to name a few.

This album will MOVE you! It is simply faultless

Dangermouse Does It Again In Rome

With a cinematic air and sound engineering of the highest quality, the entirety of ‘Rome’ plays out like a soundtrack to an Italian movie, created by the genius producer Dangermouse and with some help from Italian composer Daniele Luppi, Norah Jones and Jack White.

The Tale Of A Retro Blues Artist

I was listening to the vocals of Adele and doing some research on her and discovered a class UK act. The moment I heard his voice I was blown away: His name is Michael Kiwanuka.

His voice sounds like something you would have been listening to in the 70’s, with a reminiscent Miles Davis blues feel. Powerful and soulful, with an instant retro feel. 'Tell Me A Tale' is so nice it’s unreal! I love the video visuals for this track as well.

With no computerization in sight for this one, your treated to beautiful guitars and luscious fresh horns, saxophones, flutes, a throwback sound that transports you back in time and a truly great voice!

If Biggie were to rise from the dead today which artists would he wanna rhyme with? My guess is that this dude would be one of them. His lyrical flow is just silly, weaving around stellar production from none other than Black Milk [check out that super damp snare and nice looped sample], along with Royce Da 5’9.

Taken from the album The Preface, which gets regular rotation in my audio player, this is a monster track and reminded me of when plain old rap music was all about the grimey beats and bars. You need a serious sound system to blaze this! Loveeely

One name to watch: Thaimatic. His lyrical prowess will make you a believer. In recent years the UK music has taken off with the likes of Chipmunk, Tinie Tempah, Tynchy Strider and others, but once this guy gets signed, they may have some welcome competition and a few musical P45’s.

Thaimatic, admittedly like some of those out there right now, is ruggedly individual. His main concern revolves around making epic music that he and other music folks will like the sound of, with commerciality playing second fiddle.

With so many punchlines crammed into his tracks, you’ll be frequently punching rewind to appreciate them one more time. He adjusts his style to rhyme for the streets and for the ladies, making him a serious all-rounder.

What makes Thaimatic special is his ability to rhyme ferociously whilst knowing how to pen hits; the fact that a stylist would be hard pressed to add to his fashion sense. For these reasons, Thaimatic is already a packaged brand!

His mixtape ‘Let Me Land’ was released to the response of thousands of downloads, and he is currently working on the follow up, one which he said will trample all over its predecessor in terms of its scope and quality!

One thing that Tuneup does is tidy up your collection. With the help of Gracenote, Tuneup powers through your music and provides you with all the missing cover art for your library. With one click, Tuneup then saves all your artwork and makes your collection look the way it should be, with all the covers for your music intact.

If you’re like us, your music may be filled with duplicates accumulated over years, that would simply take waaaay too much time to clean up. Tuneup deals with that at the click of a button as well, by combing your entire collection and presenting you with the suggested version of a song you should keep [Usually the higher bitrate file].

Once you go ahead, Tuneup then removes the duplicate from your folder and deposits it in a ‘deleted files’ folder which you can then permanently delete if you decide.

This software also keeps you bang up to date with upcoming concerts for artists in your area. Van Hunt - A Self Titled Album For Music Lovers

Here is a CLASSIC album for those of you who may not have heard his stuff and, in our opinion, an absolute must buy. Van hunt is another artist who is difficult to pin down in terms of genre. His music contains an excellent blend of funk, neo-soul and even some rock elements.

Totally original, artistic and full of attitude, the sound of his vocals is difficult to categorise, but you can’t help but hit rewind. On this self titled album, there are so many genius songs that sometimes it’s hard to accept they are all contained on album.

The instrumentation throughout is of the highest quality, from the live drums to the beautiful variations of guitar. What you get on ‘Van Hunt’ is a level of authenticity that audio-lovers are always after.

With aspects of ‘Prince’ in some tracks and other legends such as ‘Kravitz’ in others, the entire CD if full of flavour and pleasure for your ears. This is another must have for your collection. Download this album today. In the meantime, check out this track from the album entitled ‘Her December’

Janelle Monae - Epic Music Of Genius Calibre

Music hadn’t really inspired us with new talent until we discovered Miss Janelle Monae.

‘Archandroid’ is an explosion of fusion which plays like a theatrical. It’s extremely difficult to summarise the quality of this album. The only thing that can be said is that we feel that nothing has been as inspiring or as amazing since we first heard ‘The Love Below’ by Andre 3000. This album is absolutely perfect; a collection of songs delivered by a genius.

It stretches however far beyond a collection of songs. The multitude of genre’s the she glazes over is dizzying, with Jazz, Funk, Rock, Rnb, Folk, electro etc, just to name a few.

There isn’t even a point in spelling out what our favourite track is, because to be completely honest, EVERY song is top notch. It is 100% befitting that Janelle Monae is receiving the success that she is, simply because it is more than well deserved.

Every track blends into each other seamlessly, making it seem as though your listening to a movie rather than a collection of songs. We must give a ‘hat’s off’ to the higher than stella production on ‘Archandroid’ as well.

With her beautiful smooth wide ranging vocals, if there ever was an album that you needed to buy that you didn’t have in your collection already, it would be this one!

Here is a random selection to include for your listening pleasure, but do yourself a favour and purchase the whole album…you will NOT be disappointed!

Frank Ocean - Nostalgia Ultra

OK so if you’re a fan of emerging music we know you would have heard of Frank Ocean. Original name Christopher Breaux, this Louisiana singer/songwriter has been on the comeup for some time. After receiving the cold shoulder from his label, Frank Ocean took matters into his own hands and independently released his excellent mixtape ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ and the music world went crazy.

We definitely love his style and what he intends to bring to the game. There is a rumoured release of an album scheduled 3 or so months, and we’ll keep you posted. Some say he has a ‘Chris Brown’ feel emanating from his voice but as an artist we find him more introspective; more clever, more creative.

You can’t fault this guy’s talent!! Whilst we keep you updated over the next few months, enjoy his track ‘Novocane’
