Banks have a tremendous opportunity use mobile devices to enlist their own customers in the fight against fraud, and research indicates the number of consumers ready to do that has doubled over the last four years, according to leading industry expert Jim Van Dyke of Javelin.

'Tis the season for survey's on fraud, it seems. Recently, CyberSource's 13th annual survey on Internet retail fraud hit my desk. I wasn't surprised when reviewing the findings to notice online merchants have something significant in common with banks – namely, their customer is among their best bets for detecting fraud.

Gartner held their annual Identity and Access Management Summit in San Diego the week of November 14th. Having attended all of the previous 4 "IAM Summits", I was on the lookout for trends and new items in the area of "identity" and multi-factor authentication. From my perspective, if there was a trend, it may be summarized by stating that IAM may have "arrived" at a level of corporate consciousness and is expanding beyond being a subset in the security practitioner space. Several things contribute to my opinion...
