Hyundai published last week the first images of the HDN-9 concept, a luxury coupe prototype that is the first attempt by the South Korean car manufacturer to produce such a model. The HND-9 will be presented for the first time at the Seoul Motor Show, and will have the same Fluidic Sculpture design line, used by Hyundai with the release of the ix35 series, but taken in an unexplored area by the Asian brand.

"With a long hood and a generous wheelbase, the HND-9 is a modern reinterpretation of the elegant image of a classic sports coupe. The HND-9 concept is sophisticated in every detail, expressing a premium look," said the South Koreans in the official release published along the first official photos.

Under the hood, the Hyundai HND-9 concept comes with a classic engine, the South Koreans engineers ignoring the eco line used lately by the European car manufacturers. It is a turbocharged petrol engine using the GDI technology that develops 370 HP from a displacement of 3.3 liters. The transmission is automatic with eight reports.

The new XL1 model uses the resources of a plug-in hybrid assembly composed of a two-cylinder diesel engine and an electric unit. The TDI engine is developing 48 horsepower, while the electrical unit contributes with 27 horsepower. Everything is supported by a DSG automatic transmission with seven reports and a lithium-ion battery that keeps the engine alive with zero emissions.

The two engines power the new Volkswagen XL1 to a top speed of 60 km/h, while the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is reached in 12,7 seconds. Even so, the new XL1 is the most economical model in the world, with a consumption of 0.9 liters/100 km.

To achieve this performance, the Volkswagen engineers have reduced the total mass, reaching only 795 kilograms. The aerodynamic was another feature taken almost to perfection with a 0.18 coefficient Cx. This feature allows the Volkswagen XL1 to run at a constant speed of 100 km/h using only 8.4 horsepower from the total of 75 horsepower. Also, the resources stored in the lithium-ion battery provide pure electric driving for a distance of 50 kilometers.

The new XL1 will impress not only with its performances, but also with its presence. The XL1 model measures 3888 mm long and 1665 mm wide, but has a surprising height of just 1153 mm.

As the name suggests, it is a sport version of the midsize sedan version that could be produced in series in the coming years. Although the name announces notable performances, the appearance is not very different from that of the current version. The design is influenced by the bi-xenon headlights, a new exhaust system with twin tailpipes, the LED lights, the 19-inch alloy wheels and the accessories carbon fiber mirror housings.

The same carbon fiber details appear on the interior on the dashboard. The customized interior in made using a tow colors leather upholstery.

Under the hood, Volkswagen has prepared a surprise; the Germans installed a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.8-liter direct injection engine capable of delivering a total power of 250 HP. The resources are transmitted through an automatic transmission gearbox with six reports.
To meet power intake, Volkswagen has lowered the ground clearance and installed an electro-mechanical steering that improves the ride.

The engine has a TwinScroll turbocharger, direct injection system with high precision injectors centrally mounted, Valvetronic and Double-VANOS. All these elements ensure an optimal response to acceleration, without penalizing the fuel consumption. While the engine remains unchanged, the Z4 receives a M Performance Automobiles tuning: an aggressive aesthetic package, a BMW M engineers modified chassis, suspension and a more rigid steering.

The aesthetic changes continue with LED lamp units, LED turn signals integrated into the side mirrors and an exclusive color for the M models. The interior will have exclusive ornaments, exclusive colors, a redesigned steering wheel and a more efficient Infotainment System.

We can now admire the concept that promises performance without compromise. There is still no new information regarding the technical data, but Infiniti has already said that this supercar concept will use an electric motor accompanied by a heat engine of 1.2-liter to extend its autonomy. Infiniti said that the Emerg-E concept will provide top performance and zero CO2 emissions. Until the technical details will occur we can only to study the design of this Infiniti new concept. The Infiniti Emerg-E will be one of the main attractions at the Geneva Motor Show.

3. Porsche Panamera Turbo S

The most powerful version of the Panamera is called Turbo S and uses a 4.8 liter V8 engine. The maximum power is 550 HP at 6,000 rpm and a torque of 700 Nm. No Porsche is slow, but the Panamera Turbo S offers some impressive numbers for a four-door sedan. The maximum speed: 306 km/h, acceleration 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with the SportChrono package. The transmission is provided with an automatic gearbox with double PDK clutch with 7-speed.

4. Aston Martin Rapide 

Aston Martin could not remain outside of this select club of very fast sedan. And thus created the Rapide model. And they managed to create a highly dynamic sedan designed in the purest Aston Martin style. For the Aston Martin Rapide, the British engineers have used a 5.9 liter V12 engine located in front. The delivered power is 477 HP at 6,000 rpm. The maximum torque is 600 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 5.2 seconds, and the top speed is 295 km/h.

5. Alpina B3S Bi-Turbo

The second BMW Alpina in the top is a model built on the 3 Series. The B3S Bi-Turbo, is one of the best models produced by Alpina. This model uses the six-cylinder engine of three liters. The last street model produced by Ginetta was the G32 that was produced in 1989 and was based on the Ford Escort.

The new improved version offers a slightly larger fuel tank with a capacity of 100 liters, enough to prolong the race experience with several tours. A new braking system approved by Porsche and called PCCB Carboceramic is also available but only for the German championship.

The power will be supplied by the same 3.8-liter petrol engine with six cylinders, capable of developing 450 HP,  similar resources with the street version, the GT3 RS. The GT3 Cup comes, however, with a new exhaust system and a new catalytic converter.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be available for the independent teams from September this year, at a price of 161,750 euros. The German car manufacturer expects that the new version will attract as many orders as its predecessors, which totaled 2,200 customers so far.
