Evolution 2 Motorsport (E2M) has launched a tuning program for the Ferrari 458 Italia. Named “Evoluzione” this upgrade package is inspired by the racing-prepped 458 Italias and comes with an attractive two-tone blue & silver paintwork. It features new mirror caps, front splitter, rear spoiler, chrome-look air duct mesh and trim, double rear lower diffuser, carbon fiber engine bay and custom 21-inch alloys.

Inside the cabin of the Ferrari 458 Italia Emozione we notice the billet alloy pedals and footrests, while the engine has received a recalibrated ECU, along with a custom titanium sports exhaust system and a carbon fiber volume air-box. Thanks to these upgrades, the engine now develops 602 hp (610 PS) in comparison to the standard output of the engine rated at 562 hp (570 PS).

Smart escooter

Introduced back in 2010 at the Paris Motor Show, the escooter concept developed by Smart will enter the production phase and it will hit the market sometime in 2014. The company said that compared to the concept shown at the show in France, the production version of the escooter is going to be more “developed and refined”.

The concept shown two years ago had a 48-volt lithium-ion battery that powered a 5 hp (5 PS / 4 kW) electric wheel hub motor. This hardware configuration allows the escooter to drive at speed of up to 30 mph (45 km/h). Smart says that the escooter has a range of up to 62 miles (100 km).

Mini John Cooper Works GP

The car you see in these photos is the fastest Mini ever made. The Mini John Cooper Works GP has been introduced several days ago at the Mini United festival organized in France and with this occasion the company said that the car can do a lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes 23 seconds, which is quicker than the Mini Cooper S equipped with the John Cooper Works GP which can do a lap in 8 minutes 41 seconds.

This new model produces somewhere around 220 – 230 hp and comes with a competition-spec braking system, an adjustable race suspension and a race-tuned ECU. The aerodynamics of the vehicle have been redeveloped, with a new shape of the nose that provides less drag, while the underside is now sealed.  Also new is the rear diffuser, while the look is now more aggressive thanks to the large front & rear aprons, bespoke roof spoiler and the side skirts.

The Mini John Cooper Works GP is riding on high performance tires which were created especially for this model. The car will be available only with the Thunder Grey metallic paint, while the interior will be exclusive to this model. This model will be built in Oxford and it is scheduled to go on sale later on this year. Mini plans on producing only 2,000 units of this model.

Ferrari 458 Italia Spider Perfetto by Wheelsandmore

The latest tuning program for the superb Ferrari 458 Spider comes from Wheelsandmore and they’ve named it Perfetto. The car comes with a carbon fiber rear diffuser and carbon fiber mirrors. This lightweight material can be used for the interior cabin, engine compartment and the trunk in order to lower the curb weight of the vehicle by 66 lb (30 kg) in comparison to the standard version of the 458 Italia Spider.

The car is now riding on 21-inch forged alloys wrapped around in Hankook S1Evo tires, while the V8 4.5-liter engine has received a sports exhaust system, new manifolds, a carbon fiber air box and a remapped ECU. Thanks to these changes, the power unit now unleashes 638 hp (647 PS / 476 kW) and a maximum torque of 468 lb.-ft (635 Nm), which is 76 hp (77 PS / 57 kW) and 70 lb.-ft (95 Nm) more than the standard output of the engine.

Volkswagen CrossPolo Urban White

The German automaker Volkswagen has introduced the CrossPolo Urban White special edition which as you can see is wearing a white pearlescent paint, along with gloss black mirrors. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and features tinted windows, while inside the cabin it has cloth/Alcantara sport seats, black headliner and silver stitching. Also on board is the air conditioning system, a chrome trim and a silver-painted center stick.

Clients will be able to choose from one of the four gasoline engines or from one of the three available diesels. These power units can be linked to 5- or 6-speed manual gearboxes or to an optional 7-speed DSG transmission.

Lotus Evora GTC

Lotus has introduced the Evora GTC which is basically an evolution of the GT4 Enduro. It comes with a carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber doors, as well as a carbon fiber engine cover. For cutting down the car’s curb weight, Lotus Racing has used Plexiglass windows. Thanks to the implementation of weight-saving measures, the car weighs 2491 – 2513 lb (1130 – 1140 kg), which is 66 lb (30 kg) lighter in comparison to the Enduro.

Aside from being lighter, the Lotus Evora GTC comes with Bosch anti-lock brakes, wider tires and wheels, along with a traction control system. Under the hood is a V6 4.0-liter engine which generates 450 hp (456 PS / 335 kW) and a peak torque of 339 lb.-ft (460 Nm). The power unit is mated to a 6-speed XTRAC sequential paddle-shift gearbox.

Lotus has already sold the first unit of this Evora GTC to McMahon Raceworks. The car will be used in the American Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. We should mention that the Lotus Evora GTC is eligible for racing in the CREVENTIC Endurance Races, the VdeV series, as well as the British GT championship.

Carroll Shelby

At a hospital in Dallas, legend Carroll Shelby has passed away at the age of 81. The racing titan was born on January 11, 1923 and is best known for his epic Cobras. After he came back from WWII, Shelby co-owned a car dealership and developed a bunch of Scaglietti Corvettes. In his racing career he won no less than three national sports car championships. In addition, he triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Because of a heart condition he had to retire from his racing career in 1960, but he returned to designing and making cars. After signing a deal with Ford for obtaining access to the Blue Oval’s small block engine, Shelby opened up Shelby American and in 1962 at the New York Auto Show he unveiled the CSX2000. Following the introduction, Carroll Shelby launched several Cobras and Mustangs that we’ll all remember.

Maldonado

The fifth race of the season, the fifth different winner as Pastor Maldonado has managed to triumph in the Spanish GP. Not only did he win his first race in F1, but it also marks the first time when he finished on the podium in his short two-year career in the competition. At the same time, Maldonado’s win represents the very first victory of a driver from Venezuela. The victory was an excellent gift for the company’s head Sir Frank Williams who celebrated his 70^th birthday on Saturday.

On the second spot on the podium was Ferrari’s Alonso who now shares the first spot in the drivers’ standings with Sebastian Vettel. Kimi Raikkonen finished on the third place on the first year of his return in F1. Behind the Finnish driver came his teammate from Lotus, Romain Grosjean.

The 2013 model year of the Hyundai Sonata brings some mild standard equipment updates throughout the entire range, before the redesign of the vehicle which is scheduled for 2014, according to the company’s CEO.

The entry-level 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS with the Popular Equipment Package now features as standard heated front seats and fog lights, and this version is priced at $21,720. For the SE version, this one is now sold with heated front seats, while the Limited model features a traditional sunroof as standard equipment. Those who get the Limited Premium Package will also have a panoramic sunroof on their 2013 Sonata.

There aren’t any changes to the car in comparison to the 2012 model year so in the engine compartment you will find the same two gasoline engines, in the form of a 2.4-liter Theta II GDI engine that pumps out 198 hp or 200 hp for the SE trim that comes with a dual exhaust system. The other engine is a more powerful 2.0-liter Theta II turbocharged GDI unit that delivers 274 hp. In addition, clients can also opt for the Hybrid variant of the 2013 Sonata that produces 206 hp.

2013 Hyundai Sonata Gets More Standard Equipment

If you have a BMW 116i hatchback sitting in your garage, you might consider driving it to Hartge as the tuner has developed an upgrade program for this model. The standard version of the car has a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter gasoline engine that benefits from the direct injection technology and pumps out 134 hp at 4,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 162 lb.-ft (220 Nm) reached between 1,350 rpm and 4,300 rpm.

By remapping the ECU of the car, Hartge can increase the output of the engine to 169 hp at 4,400 rpm and 195 lb.-ft (265 Nm) at 2,000 rpm. The aftermarket specialist did not say how long does it take to do the 0-62 mph sprint, but they did mention that the acceleration from 50 to 112 mph is now done seven seconds quicker than before, standing at 20.63 seconds. The top speed of this BMW 116i tuned by Hartge has remained the same so you won’t get pass 131 mph (210 km/h).

Aside from the remapping of the ECU, Hartge also offers 19-inch alloy wheels, bespoke floor mats, stainless steel exhaust pipes, a lowered sports suspension and aluminum pedals.
