The specification is split to cover both rally and touring car racing. Super 2000 rally cars are also permitted to compete in Production World Rally Championship events alongside Group N cars.

The goal of the Super 2000 classification is to allow more manufacturers and privateers to race by reducing the cost of a competitive car. The World Rally Championship currently has two manufacturers fielding teams, while private teams rely on older cars from current manufacturers or from "works" teams that have left the WRC, such as Subaru, Škoda, or Mitsubishi. The World Touring Car Championship currently has four manufacturers competing, these being BMW, SEAT, Chevrolet and Lada with independent teams generally using older cars from previous seasons.

In order to cut costs & shorten development time, the Super 2000 rally cars originally used a common control gearbox & drivetrain made by a French company, Sadev. The FIA has since announced that Xtrac and Ricardo Consulting Engineers will be allowed to also manufacture S2000 gearboxes to FIA specification. This is to further cut costs by introducing competition into gearbox supply.

This new formula has already started to bear fruit, especially in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, already known as the premiere Rally Championship for S2000 cars, with 7 manufacturers already registered and competing. They are, Honda, Peuqeot, Mitsubishi, PROTON, FIAT, Skoda and Volkswagen.

Built:2009

Features:The Car

Based on the Proton Satria Neo, the Proton Super 2000 Rally Car has been constructed to conform with the latest FIA homologation specifications. The car can be supplied to either tarmac or gravel specification as required.

Chassis

The existing Satria Neo bodyshell is extensively modified to accept the S2000 components including the 4 wheel drive system. It is then strengthened considerably to comply with FIA regulations by fitting a safety roll cage using 35 metres of Chromoly Steel Tube.

Engine

The engine is based on the Waja 1.8 engine with racing internals and increasing the capacity to 1998cc, which is positioned transversely and producing a power output of 278bhp at 7600 rpm.

Transmission

The transmission is a four wheel drive system specifically developed by Xtrac for S2000, using a 6 speed sequential gearbox with 3 plated limited slip differentials, and handbrake release system.

Brakes

The Brake callipers are Alcon 4 piston calipers front and rear. The front discs are 350mm for the tarmac version and 300mm for the gravel version. The rear discs are identical for both specifications.

Electrical System

The car features a GEMS integral engine ECU and power management system with data logging and glass dash display.

Suspension

The suspension is MacPherson strut and wishbone design using Dynamics dampers. Anti Roll bars front and rear.

Wheels

The car is fitted with 8 x 18 inch alloy wheels for tarmac and 6.5 X 15 inch alloy wheels for gravel

Weight

1150 Kg for the tarmac version and 1200 Kg for the gravel version

The only reasonable reason for more expensive is that proton has to pay loyalty to mitsubishi for every inspira they are selling. This is like earliest proton car where proton has to pay for royalty.
The thing I found out in this blog is that many proton supporters is supporting for nothing. And they do not see the ‘danger’ behind all this practice of rebadging.
But in our deepest heart we know that this inspira is not the genuine proton product. The Inspira is just a mirror and copy of the Lancer. How can our people so foolish that we treat it like our very own ‘creation’?
They are good in the car spec, good in arguing, good in cursing, good in taxing but they are unable to see with a clearer picture and the important point in doing business is to do R&D and polish up the management, production, sales & service line. Take the opportunity while proton is still under the government protection to improve themselves. Government protection is a privilege and not a must.
The winner in this games is definitely Mitsubishi because proton has to pay a long term loyalty for every Inspira that is sold in the country. For Mitsubishi, they are selling Lancer and ‘Inspira’ and proton is indirectly ‘controlled’ by them. Aren’t they see this picture? We get ‘muka’ but our ‘pocket’ & ‘brain’ is ‘empty’
You can argue that other car maker also practice rebadging but they also having their own car model. Rebadging would be beneficial in short term but it will make the proton R&D lazy and no progress. We have Proton Emas but when can we see it in the Malaysian road?

1. P1 is doing what they see P2 is doing…and what their new CEO knows best…rebadging or copying…to make money…maybe to finance other models…I don’t have a problem with that…
2. Mitsu is trying to sell more engines and chasis…to make more money and get cheaper manufacturing facilities…to export to other markets…I don’t have a problem with that.
3. Waja-owners wannabe wants to get cheap Lancers…I understand that.
4. Lancer-owners are upset becos their exclusivity would be lost…if true the WRM is gonna be a straight copy/rebadge of Lancer…might as well buy a Toyota or Honda…
For me, I am gonna compare Mitsu’s Lancer with the likes of Civic, M3 or other ‘equal’ makes…quality vs quality…build vs build…
I am not going to compare Mitsu’s Lancer with the WRM…even if WRM is cheaper…if I drive the Lancer…I will know its a Lancer…if someone drives a WRM and wants other ppl to think its a Lancer…I guess its in their genes…but if someone don’t care either way and just wanna drive a good car…I respect that too…
I am upset with P1 cos it holds itself to be a national car…there must be some pride in that…by the way…what makes it a national car?…just becos some politician say so?…has it ever belonged to the nation?…even though it swallows the rakyat’s money…i only see it benefiting certain vendors selling questionable quality parts and components…it’s a business venture…nothing more…definitely not national…otherwise any roadside business can also call itself national…
I will be upset with Mitsu becos they sold their products…knowing there is going to be a cheaper version…which they sanction…that is dishonest…IF its true that the WRM is a straight rebadge…they owe their clients a more honest deal…I really wonder if there is a legal recourse for those ppl who bought the Lancer earlier…definitely there is room to argue Mitsu owes them morally at least…I would not think highly any more of Mitsu’s honesty and ethics or Japanese business culture in general…
But…having said all that…the Lancer is still a lovely car…and I going to buy one…despite all these WRM jazz…I could wait…but I would get a P1 WRM…and I have had enough of them for a lifetime…I am going to be proud to own/drive a Lancer…and if I see a WRM-Lancer…I will think good for you…you know how to appreciate a good car…and you got a good deal too…but I will still be driving a Lancer…and you a WRM…

why wait 2020? the current exora, persona el. satria neo fairly good. thats is an Improvement. There is a minor hiccup here and there, small thing which other giant car manufacture also have to deal with and they too recall some of their car once in while. E.g Toyota & Honda (as being reported recently).
What design engineer do? We all know what they do…designing of coz, and making a car is not only involve designing engineer. There is a powertrain team, prototyping team, as well as ride and handling (r&h) team (tho the r&h is the youngest team established).
For r&h team, these are the people, who spend most of their working time on the road testing the car. When talk about ride and handling it can be really subjective to determine the comfort level of a driving and its really up to the engineer who testing the car came out with the his version of comfort driving. Your definition of comfort driving can be quite different from others. Some like the sporty feeling, some like the smooth luxuries feeling. So there is several engineers will came out with the result, compare and retune. (Suspension dynamics …etc) until the best result is obtain (Relevant for mass production). So they are not just sitting around like u claim. There is an engineering works going on behind the scene. The new waja is a rebatch (stated hundred of times over this post hehehe) small modification, to bring some proton image in it. And that’s it~. It could help save a lot of R&D effort since Proton currently working on the Iguana and the New Engine (maybe replacing CPS) then coming up next is a persona replacing model.
“All scums of the earth I tell you.” Will it including u? hehe. Nothing/ nobody is perfect, doesn’t mean everything is wrong considering u might not fully understand what’s going on. Calling people bad names making joke not helping either my friend. “The hell with Proton workers, they don’t pay for my car?”…the statement is pretty bold congrats!. Unfortunately it is immature…I think~. Not very sure this kind of mentality or attitude suitable/deserve living in a society. I wonder why am i actually taking this effort on replying your comment coz I don’t think you could care more or less….:)
The new Myvi will be available in three colours – Ivory White, Ebony Black and a new colour Dazzling Red, which is pictured above.

The new Dazzling Red colour has a decidedly pink hue to it, obviously targeted at ladies who are considering buying the current Myvi.

The Perodua Myvi LE will only be available with an automatic transmission. It is based on the 1.3 liter Standard Automatic model but equipped with additional trim. The female target audience is made even more apparent with the new MD Aminar Rashid Salleh commenting that lady drivers place great importance on vanity mirrors in their cars, thus the inclusion of a vanity mirror on the driver’s side.

The LE has new trim colour and fabric, door inner handles, an “LE” carpet mat, and decorative cubic printing on both the centre cluster and the door trim armrests. There’s also dual airbags for the people at the front. The radio has USB and Bluetooth connectivity. On the outside, Perodua has fitted the Myvi LE with smoked clear rear combination lamps, “LE” badging and side door moldings.

Treat it as an additional accessory package to fit onto the 1.3 Standard Automatic model, since the LE is a RM1,700 premium over the 1.3 Standard AT. The Nissan Lightfoot Quest is a contest open to owners of the Nissan Latio, the Nissan Grand Livina and the Nissan Sylphy. And, the Nissan Lightfoot Quest 2010 is the second such event after the first one held in 2008.

“Aside from organizing another interesting event with good prizes for our valued Nissan customers, our objective for having this event is very clear. Fuel prices are bound to go up and we at ETCM believe that it is important to inculcate good driving habits to achieve fuel savings and also, with the assistance of our media friends present today, to share this information with other Nissan customers and the general public. “said Dato’ Dr. Ang Bon Beng, Executive Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), at the prize presentation ceremony held in Orna Golf Resort.

“I understand that the results this time are very impressive, and I am pleased to see that many of our participants have gained some valuable experience from the previous event and have managed to get even more out of their Nissan cars. Of course, one must bear in mind that this is a competition and many economy driving techniques were used to garner such fantastic fuel consumption figures. In normal driving conditions, we know that our customers will not achieve such figures. But at the same time, these figures go to prove that our Nissan models are economical cars to start with,” he added.

This time around, the Nissan Lightfoot Quest traversed a route heading south that was mostly highway except for the short section from the start at the Holiday Inn Glenmarie to the NKVE, and the one kilometre stretch from the Air Keroh toll plaza at the end of the run to the Air Keroh Petronas Station.

A total of 30 Nissan owners, each with a nominated co-driver to do the navigation, took part in the Nissan Lightfoot Quest 2010. The lowest fuel consumption scored was 21.517 km/l, while the highest was 165.801 km/l. The average fuel consumption of all the participants was 51.176 km/l, again a testament to the overall fuel efficiency of the three core Nissan models, the Latio, the Grand Livina and the Sylphy.

The greatest achievement of the day was the 165.801km/l achieved by Sylphy driver Kenneth Chiew, who coincidentally is a multiple Champion in the 1.3 litre category in the GRA Autocross Championship series. When asked about how he achieved such an incredible figure, Kenneth shared some of his techniques with us. “I did many practice runs between Shah Alam and Melaka – I noted every place where I could coast in neutral, and marked every hill that I had to climb. The idea is to use as little fuel as possible by running my Sylphy in its ‘sweet spot’, which is around 65 to 70 km/h. I drove barefoot, and used as light a throttle pressure as possible, gently ‘feeling’ the car and the road.” When asked if he switched off the engine or not, he said, “No, I didn’t, as the ‘coasting’ sections were quite short, and based on my calculations, it would take more fuel to restart the engine.”

“I also made sure that I kept the weight down to the minimum – I selected my co-driver based on ability to navigate using tulips and body weight. In order to keep drag to a minimum, we drove without the air-conditioner on, and kept all the windows wound up. It was hot in the car, but winning the class was worth it.” Added a jubilant Kenneth, who walked away with a cool RM3,000 as the first prize for the Sylphy category.

Elsewhere down the line, it was a similar story – the ones who best absorbed the briefing by the event organizers on “How to drive and win the Lightfoot Quest” emerged as the eventual winners.

The total purse for the event was RM25,000 – with a total of 13 awards.

Besides being a fun and rewarding experience for Nissan owners, the Nissan Lightfoot Quest is slotted to educate Nissan loyal customers on techniques of driving economically and is a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) exercise.

Results:

Category
Dirty air filters should be replaced or cleaned as soon as possible. It's an easy job to do but check the handbook if you are unsure, or alternatively take it to a garage.

Battery
Most batteries have "maintenance free" stamped on them, and you won't ever have to check the electrolyte level. If your battery is not "maintenance free", you should unscrew the plastic caps and check the level of the liquid inside (electrolyte). If it is low, top it up with distilled water, not tap water. You should also check the condition of the terminals. If they are corroded, take off the wires (negative off first and back on last), clean up with a wire brush and grease with Vaseline or normal grease to prevent corrosion returning. Remember, batteries contain strong acid and you must always be cautious when checking and removing them.

Brakes
For your own safety, it is important to check your brake pads or shoes. These components are made from a heat-resistant friction material, which deteriorates due to being clamped against the disc or pushed against the drum when the brakes are applied. Also check for fluid leaks caused by damaged brake hoses or worn seals which could result in brake failure. A telltale sign that your brake pads are wearing unevenly is that your car will have a tendency to pull to one side when you brake, and you should get them checked.

Clutch
On a hydraulic clutch, fluid ensures the clutch operates smoothly and helps prevent wear and tear. If you feel that under acceleration, the engine revs build up faster than the car is actually accelerating, it may mean your clutch is wearing out. If this happens, get it checked as soon as possible - worn clutches eventually fail which means you will not be able to change gear. So it pays to check your clutch fluid level and ensure it is replaced as recommended by the vehicle handbook. This will help to keep costs down and your car running safely.

The best way to keep the running cost of your car minimal is to maintain your car effectively. Cars do not look after themselves and parts do wear out due to the extreme conditions and pressures they operate within. However, if you carry out regular checks on your car, you can extend the life of certain parts and ensure your car runs reliably. Always ensure you have your car serviced as recommended in the drivers manual. Failure to do so may lead to excessive wear on your vehicle, leading to breakdowns and expensive repairs. Failing to have your car serviced may also mean that parts critical to safety are not checked, which can be dangerous.

Fan belt
If your fan belt starts slipping (you will definitely know when you hear the squeal!), it may not be tensioned properly. At best this could result in your battery going flat through not being recharged, and at worst, it could fail to operate your cooling fan, resulting in serious and expensive damage due to the engine overheating.

Fuel
It may sound obvious, but make sure you have enough fuel before you start a journey. "Breakdowns" caused by people forgetting to do this are surprisingly common. As for the grade of petrol - super unleaded is usually a waste of money and won't improve performance or engine longevity. Normal unleaded petrol will do just fine.

Leaks
If you do notice any leaks, get them checked immediately. With so many different systems in a modern car relying on specialist liquids or lubricants to run properly, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Lights
You should check all your lights and bulbs regularly. As they can sometimes fail in combinations, it's best to ask someone to look at the front and rear while you test them. Check your brake lights and indicators with the headlights on and off, as sometimes a bad earth can cause a fault if both lights are on together. Note: it is illegal to drive with failed or malfunctioning lights. Sometimes you may be dazzled by on coming vehicles at night that appear to be on main beam. Often they are not, it's just the alignment that's incorrect. Make sure yours are adjusted correctly, dazzling headlamps can cause accidents.

Few people realise how important it is to carry spare bulbs, until one fails during a long journey. Fewer still realise that it is compulsory on mainland Europe to carry a complete emergency bulb kit. These are easily bought, stowed in the car and replaced - a small price to pay for peace of mind. Consult the handbook if you are having problems. If the light or lights still do not work after the bulb has been replaced, there may be a fuse fault. Look in the fuse box and find the appropriate fuse; replace it if necessary.

Oil
It's important that your engine is protected by the right amount of oil - too little or too much can cause extensive damage. Check the oil level when the engine is cold, if you check it after the engine has been turning over, the oil may be deposited higher up on the dip stick and give a false reading. Changing your oil regularly removes the harmful dirt and contaminants that cause engine wear, so sticking rigidly to service intervals will prolong the life of major engine components. To ensure the oil remains in good condition, you should also change the oil filter. Some argue it is not quite so important on older higher mileage "bangers", but an annual oil and filter change using branded oil can help. Turbocharged and high-performance cars will benefit from an intermediate oil change at around 4,000 miles using high-grade synthetic oil.

Which means, the engine mostly features aftermarket parts to turn it from a normally aspirated motor to a turbocharged one. It’s useful to test the durability and reliability of a Campro block when force inducted.

The production turbocharged powerplant for the Exora is being co-developed with Lotus, and sources reveal that powertrain engineers will soon leave for the UK to intensify the development.

Notice the aftermarket boost meter and various other extra monitoring gauges

The powerplant featured in the Prestige Concept shown above is said to produce up to 270 horsepower, and with a torque figure that is rated at about 350Nm. (UPDATE: Now that I think about it, this quoted figure seems a little over the top. While no doubt it is possible especially if you strengthen the engine enough, it is not practical for production use so the production car will not likely be tuned to such extents as there is a high possibility for lots of turbo lag and the 4-speed Mitsubishi automatic transmission must be struggling with the torque.)

A source revealed that the turbocharged Proton Exora MPV could most probably hit the market by between end 2010 to mid 2011. Honestly for me despite many customers eagerly waiting for a more powerful Exora, later is better as it means more time for testing, and a turbocharged production engine is something very new for Proton.

The production turbocharged variant will very likely offer less than the 270 hp and 350Nm performance figures mentioned above, but even if it ends up producing anywhere in the region of 170 horses and 240Nm of torque, that would be a big leap already as it would be equivalent to a normally aspirated 2.4 liter engine, but with peak torque coming in at a much lower RPM.

It wipe out one major issue that the current Exora has, which is a lack of go. The 1.6 liter Campro CPS that is currently being offered with the Exora produces 125 horsepower and 150Nm of torque. Proton also revealed that the Exora Prestige Concept is being sold to selected VIPs that have placed orders for the extra-luxury variant.

Look after the jump for more photos of the prototype turbocharged Exora.
<br Does your mechanic seem to talk over you, or try to convince you that you're imagining problems? Here's how to cut to the chase when your knowledge of cars is just about zilch.

Steps

Before you go in, call about the problem so that you can find out what kind of questions they're likely to ask or what information they'll need from you when you take your car in for its service.

Ask the service manager when is the best time to bring your car in so that you can have an unhurried chat about your vehicle.

Go over the problems with him and give him a written report of the problems.

If he doesn't know what you are talking about, have him drive it around the block so that he can acknowledge and understand your concerns. Make notes on your list in his technical-speak to make sure you're both on the same page.

Leave the list with him.

When you pick up your car, drive it around the block to check that all the problems have been solved and bring it back straight away if any of the problems persist.

If your car is new and you have persistent problems that the service dealer cannot fix, call up the factory and arrange for their service department to look at it.

Tips

Agree on costs before you give the go ahead on any work.

Expect to pay some diagnostics charges before you can get a good quote for the necessary repairs.

Ask to have your quote separated into necessary, immediate repairs and other maintenance recommended. Maintenance is important, but you want to separate fixing the current problem from preventing future problems.

Ask about the warranty on the repair BEFORE the repair is performed.

Do get a second opinion, or at least call a second shop to check the prices you are being quoted at the first shop.

When getting a second opinion, going to a local College, University, or Technical school, may be your best bet. Since they are using your car for training, they will rarely try to "upsell" you into things you don't need.

Going to the local College, University, or Technical school, although cheap because you don't have to pay labor, may take longer than you would like to wait. (They also rarely do regular maintenance work, to not steal away your business from local auto-shops).

If you can, get someone who knows cars to come with you to the shop. The service advisor or mechanic will likely appreciate the help when you are explaining your problem(s) and when they are explaining the repairs back to you.

If a mechanic sees that you don't know what you're talking about (or assumes it because you're a woman), they might try to rip you off at an disreputable garage.

If your service advisor or mechanic cannot explain the repairs in a way you can understand, leave, and go to someone else. For the service advisor, this is the most important part of their job!

Many car owners feel like the statement "we were unable to duplicate your concern" means the same thing as "we think you are crazy" or "we would rather be doing nothing than work on your car." This is simply not the case with a quality repair facility. Repair facilities rely on finding your problem in order to make a living. Sometimes, "we were unable to duplicate your concern" means they spent some time trying to get it to do as you described and were unable to do so.

Warnings

Do not take your frustrations out on the service manager. They did not build or break your car. They are trying to help you get your car fixed!

Hopping from car dealer to car dealer hoping to find a miracle "cure" can be counter productive, sometimes it's better to stick with a team who knows your car's history. If you have had your car to more than one mechanic, be sure to provide as much history as possible to your current mechanic, including copies of your previous work orders if possible.

Remember that the mechanic who quotes you the cheapest price for a particular repair may not be the best. There can be huge differences in the quality of parts being used and in the warranty provisions for the repair.

That is the beginning of many problems. Phases one and two of maintenance require "fixing" what isn't broken.

1. The most obvious phase of maintenance is the repair function. Very simply stated, this means, "if it breaks, fix it." This is actually the third phase and means exactly what it says. It is a last resort and should arise only at infrequent intervals.

2. Phase one is systematic daily maintenance. The machine operator is usually responsible for this part. You may have simply cleans the equipment, observing anything out of the ordinary and reporting it to the maintenance department. This allows replacement of parts about to malfunction thus preventing chaining of problems.

3. Phase two is the regularly scheduled maintenance to include changing of fluids, thorough cleaning of parts not normally seen by the operator and a more detailed inspection for parts about to malfunction. This would include parts that are bent or broken, to include any possible cracks, obvious wear and signs of lack of lubrication.

4. It can readily be seen that proper performance of phases one and two will greatly reduce the occurrence of phase three, breakdown repair.

5. The greatest incentive for performing phases one and two regularly is that machine breakdown will invariably occur when the machine is used, and most often when it is being used most heavily. A machine that is idle simply doesn't break down.
