With the 2 liter engine out, the Captiva will now be powered  by a 2.2 liter TDCi engine that will put out 186.5 PS @ 3,800 rpm and a colossal 424 Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm. The engine will put down this performance via the six speed automatic gearbox.  On the aesthetics front, major work has gone in to the solid new front grille and the fascia. The interiors adorn a black theme and is loaded with driver aids like Customized climate control, Rain sensing wipers, Electronic sunroof and Cruise control. Priced at Rs. 22 lakhs with 3 year/1,00,000 kms warranty, the Captiva offers a viable option.

The Neo3  is the BSIV compliant version of the previous car with some minor work on the grille and larger Chevy bow ties front and back. The indicator lamps are now integrated within the clear headlamps. The 2 liter engine has been retained with the power rating of 1.6PS@ 4,000 rpm and 263 Nm torque @ 2,500 rpm.

In the rear, Mahindra has retained existing variant’s looks and styling. But the tail lamp detailing has been slightly tweaked with an additional clear lens stacking. The additional rear spoiler enhances the sportiness of  new Xylo. All columns have been black taped to improve side profile. There is not much change in the interiors. There will be  an additional variant for facelifted Mahindra Xylo called  Xylo E9.

There are reports suggesting that Mahindra may plant a detuned 2.2 ltr mHawk engine in New Xylo. The engine is well received in Indian market in Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra XUV500 (with different power output profiles). Even Mahindra may continue with current  mEagle engine line up in base and mid-level variants and top end (E9) may get mHawk engine. The mHawk engine engine is lighter compared mEagle and will improve the fuel economy and acceleration characteristics.

Mahindra Xylo has been in the market for the last three years. It is doing fairly well in the segment but we think company wants to improve the sales further. No doubt new Mahindra Xylo looks much better than outgoing model. Will this  facelift lift sales of Xylo..? We reserve our comments till Mahindra announces the price.

Other than above said features, New Honda Dio gets Combi-brake system. Honda’s Combi-brake system will ensure better braking efficiency and riding characteristics. New Dio will run a pair of  tubeless tires. The styling of the facelifted Dio looks very fresh now. The tail lamp and headlight cluster concept are new in our market. The Dio now sports a 3D emblem as well. New Honda Dio  is available in five colours – sports red, matt axis grey, pearl sunbeam white, candy palm green and leblon violet.

“The increased convenience and comfortable riding position of the new Dio will appeal to both style-conscious young males and females. It is very affordable and will be available by February-end,” said NK Rattan, VP – Sales & Marketing, HMSI.

Honda Dio is a hit among  our youth and college goers. We think the new generation Dio too will attract young customers who are in search of  a fuel efficient, stylish, powerful and reliable scooter. The new Swift has been restructured to a sub 4 metres length and the upside to this is the saving in parking space and usability in the urban arena. The new Swift will also be available with an automatic gearbox that is mated to 1.2 liter petrol variant that puts out 87PS @ 6000 rpm against the 85PS of it predecessor. However there are no changes in the Diesel variant  and delivers the same 75PS @ 4000 rpm from its 1.3 liter D13A powerhouse.

The cabin is loaded with beige, chrome and wood to the right proportions and lends that upmarket feel. The two tone dashboard, the steering mounted climate and audio controls add to the overall experience of the Dzire. On the safety front the Dzire has front dual SRS airbags, ELR seatbelts, ABS, Brake Assist, EBD and also an Engine Drag Control System.

The best part is that the new Dzire weighs exactly as much as the Swift hatch and it means that you get the power to weight ratio as much as the hatch plus a boot.

For a car priced between 4.79 to 6.54 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs. 5.80 to 7.09 lakhs (All prices Ex-showroom Delhi)  for the diesel, the new Dzire will have the Verito and Indigo CS worried.

We cannot deny that we were sorely disappointed Bajaj when stopped producing the older P 200. Only now, more than a year later we know what ball game Bajaj has been at. And what a product the Pulsar is… slashes and cuts all over speak of an aggressive and hypermacho design that is way ahead of its competitors.
