All you have to do is do a web search on the words "Forex" and "lose" to see this is the consensus.

Forex is similar to what we call a "zero sum" game. You are making a bet with someone else about whether a currency will rise or fall. For every winner there has to be a loser. The net winnings of everyone combined equals zero. If you are smarter than the average player, you may make money. If you are dumber than the average player, you are likely to lose money. Most of the people making the "bets" in Forex are highly trained professionals at banks and other institutions. You are unlikely to beat them at this game.

Actually Forex is not quite a zero sum game. It's a slightly negative sum game as the Forex broker takes a small percentage each time in the spread. It's a small amount but over a hundred trades, it ends up being a considerable amount of money. So the average player is likely to lose money, and remember the average player is a highly trained professional and probably smarter than you.

There is a lot of luck in Forex, and if you play it, you will have some periods of time where you make money. This is usually because you are having a lucky streak, not because you have suddenly become an expert Forex player. However, most people are unwilling to admit their success is due to luck. They become convinced they have a system that works, and lose a lot of money trying to refine it.

Further complicating the problem is the large number of Forex scams on the internet. Most Forex websites are of questionable honesty. You will find many people on the Internet that claim they made a lot of money using Forex. They are usually liars trying to make money. They will say: "Go to Forexcrap,com/q2347." The "q2347" is a signal to the Forexcrap site that you are being referred to them by "q2347." If they sell something to you, "q2347" gets a kickback. These coded signals can be hidden by different methods in the link. Other people will refer you to their own private website or blog for the purpose of trying to get money off you. Also there are a good number of trolls out there that like to pretend they are successful forex traders just for the fun of it.

I would recommend not trying to do Forex at all, unless you are a trained professional. It's like playing poker with people better than you, with the house constantly taking a small percentage from the pot.

Read the warnings in the links below:

Source(s):

http://www.cftc.gov/opa/enf98/opaforexa1…
http://www.smartmoney.com/investing/stoc…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forex_scams
h

4 WAYS TO LIGHT UP NEW FIRE ON YOUR BLOG

Making your blog interactive is one of the ways to get loyal readers. And readers will never forget you and your blog. Why? Just because you’ve build a community around your blog. Readers cherish the act of communicating with their coach (blog author) even if you are not from the same location or continent. One thing that makes you guys communicate like you are sitting near each other is the internet and with the aid of the internet, you are able to setup a blog and build a community around the blog.
If you have being looking for ways on how you can make your blog interactive in order to build a community around it, you have come to the right place.

Below are tips on how to make your blog interactive:

<cufon style="width: 70px; height: 20px;" alt="Create " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Create </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 20px; height: 20px;" alt="A " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>A </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 138px; height: 20px;" alt="Controversial " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Controversial </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 52px; height: 20px;" alt="Post:" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Post:</cufontext></cufon>

Publishing a controversial post on your blog will make your blog an interactive blog. Why? Because people who are against you will try to share their opinion with you in order to hit the fact about the post.

Controversial post has been one of the fantastic ways to make your blog interactive. People who want to abuse you or nag at you will use that opportunity to do that. But not that they will take it personal, they just want to share their opinion by speaking their mind.

If you are to create a controversial post, make sure you have enough points that will back up your post, because if you don’t have good and solid points, people will think that you just post anything you see. But if you have enough points to back it up, they will know that you are trying to express your mind on the subject. Don’t be scared to publish a controversial post, it’s just about expressing your mind and sees what people will say about it.

If they don’t support that notion, they will simply let you know and if they support the notion, you will get notified by them. You just make sure that you have enough points to back up your post.

<cufon style="width: 62px; height: 20px;" alt="Reply " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Reply </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 30px; height: 20px;" alt="To " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>To </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 51px; height: 20px;" alt="Your " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Your </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 88px; height: 20px;" alt="Readers:" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Readers:</cufontext></cufon>

One of the thing that has been going on the blogosphere is that, is it compulsory to reply to all your readers comments? Well, I think it’s not compulsory. You should reply to the major comments that are worth to be replied. But if you want to reply to all your comments, then no problem in doing that. It shows that you care. And I’m sure readers would be glad to read your reply to their comment.

Replying to readers comment matters a lot to them, and they will feel happy because the author is taking his or her time to read and reply to their comment. One thing you should always try to do is to answer any question that’s been asked from your readers. If you are not able to reply them, most of them might felt bad and they might be thinking otherwise. You just try to reply to comments that worth to be replied to.

<cufon style="width: 57px; height: 20px;" alt="Build " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Build </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 51px; height: 20px;" alt="Your " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Your </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 44px; height: 20px;" alt="List:" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>List:</cufontext></cufon>

You can make your blog interactive by building your list. I’m sure you will be wondering how? When people subscribed to your blog, you can interact with them by sending them blog updates and ask questions about how they feel about your blog post or your news update. Also you can tell them to share with you any problem they might be facing so as to help them trash it out. I’m sure they would be glad to do so.

By doing that, you are gradually making your blog interactive. If you are able to carry out this operation perfectly, readers will spread the word about your blog. You can see that, that’s another way to make readers help you promote your blog?

So try to build your list from day one. Even if you can make money from it, you will also be able to interact with your readers.

<cufon style="width: 112px; height: 20px;" alt="Encourage " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Encourage </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 113px; height: 20px;" alt="Comments:" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Comments:</cufontext></cufon>

Encouraging comments on your blog is one of the ways to make your blog interactive. That’s why it’s good to always enable comments on every post you published. Because readers will be able to share their opinions.

To encourage comments on your blog, you can do that by asking them to speak their mind or share theirs thoughts about the post by using the comment section. I’m always using that on my blog and I’m glad that readers are turning up. Doing this simply shows that their opinions are valued. And I’m sure they would be glad to do that.

<cufon style="width: 67px; height: 20px;" alt="Speak " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Speak </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 51px; height: 20px;" alt="Your " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Your </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 55px; height: 20px;" alt="Mind!" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Mind!</cufontext></cufon>

What other ways can you make your blog interactive?

You might spend months preparing for an upcoming exam, organizing your time and all, and then fail it big time when your time came. (You studied the wrong thing)

You might devote months of your time to your blog only to discover that what you did really didn’t help you. (Wrong techniques)

You might schedule all your time, so that you can spend as much time as you can with your girlfriend, only to find you break up with her shortly. (Wrong planning)

That’s productivity at its finest, making the most use of your time so that you can head down the worst possible path and not even realize it. Devote your entire education towards trying to aim for the highest paying job without realizing that your goals and ambitions are on a much smaller scale.

Productivity is the one word that if you really stick to it will only lead you into a real mess. Just because you make your time perfectly organized so that you can out put a ‘product’ as the word defines, doesn’t mean that what you’ve devoted your time to is for a good thing. There, are more important questions to be asked.

<cufon style="width: 38px; height: 20px;" alt="Kill " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Kill </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 128px; height: 20px;" alt="productivity, " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>productivity, </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 42px; height: 20px;" alt="aim " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>aim </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 33px; height: 20px;" alt="for " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>for </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 61px; height: 20px;" alt="being " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>being </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 105px; height: 20px;" alt="pro-active!" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>pro-active!</cufontext></cufon>

Instead of organizing your time so that you can do the most things in a day, forget organization and focus on the things that really matter to you.

You’re probably thinking about how I’ve just managed to slip myself into a huge mess – and everyone is now disagreeing with me? There is a reason as to why we should never aim to be productive, but rather focus on being pro-active. Instead of focusing on the things that are not important in your life, focus on the things that are damn important, and thrash them into the every you.

Don’t look for what will get you the highest grade – look for what will fulfill your life.

Find out how you can leave your impression on the world, permanently – never let your existence fizzle down to an ember.

Focus on how you can dominate what interests you the most and leave the most amazing mark on it.

These are the questions you need to ask yourself!

This is what being pro-active is all about, finding out the things that are truly important to you. What do you want to do that will fulfill your life and leave your mark in the world? Focus on the things in your life that follow this principle, AND DON’T LET THE OTHER THINGS SLIP IN!

If you focus on the things that are most important to you, they will automatically fill out your day and before you know it, you’ll be making the most of your time so that you can enjoy those things that are important. The things you don’t care about, you have to ‘organize in’ or otherwise you wouldn’t do them, this is how things work.

(Btw, I’m not just saying you should throw away all your things like your job because you don’t care about them – but that leads onto my next point.)

<cufon style="width: 40px; height: 20px;" alt="Cut " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>Cut </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 38px; height: 20px;" alt="out " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>out </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 29px; height: 20px;" alt="all " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>all </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 25px; height: 20px;" alt="of " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>of </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 51px; height: 20px;" alt="your " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>your </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 80px; height: 20px;" alt="options " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>options </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 43px; height: 20px;" alt="and " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>and </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 62px; height: 20px;" alt="throw " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>throw </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 55px; height: 20px;" alt="them " class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>them </cufontext></cufon><cufon style="width: 58px; height: 20px;" alt="away!" class="cufon cufon-canvas"><cufontext>away!</cufontext></cufon>

One of the books that I’ve been reading lately is, “Think and grow rich,” a modernized adaption on the old book by Napoleon Hills, that has been re-written by Karen McCreadie.

One of the major points that are talked about in the text is how the only way we can ever get results is to cut off all of our lifelines and just go for it. I’ll use this as an example (sorry It’s not directly from the book, I just couldn’t be bothered writing it all in xD ):

Bill Gates greatest skill is to give people what they want. Bill Gates didn’t have an operating system to sell but told IBM he did. Paul Allen, Microsoft’s co-founder knew of where he could get an operating system just across town.

You can read the full story here if you want: http://www.freeenterpriseland.com/BOOK/KILDALL.html

Bill gates cut off all of his links and just jumped in to it. By cutting out the things that you rely on the most, you are forcing yourself into taking big risks and making the jump. This is the only true way to be successful. Being productive only means that you’ve organized your time to reach a result; rather, we need to be proactive and put emphasis on the things that are important, take the jump and just go for it.

Sometimes the best thing to do is to make that jump and break away from what we hold onto the most. Quitting your job, forces you to go into the online world, this is always an important thing to remember.

Do you focus on being pro-active without putting emphasis on productivity? Do you ever let your interests slip you away into a full day of enjoying yourself? How often do you throw away your ability to retreat so you HAVE to do something? Or do you just let the things that don’t really matter to you, get in the way of your life?

SOURCE : http://ideasbubble.com/2011/02/irrelevance-of-being-productive.html

Acer Aspire 4253 Will Be Sold In Cheap price

Acer Aspire 4253, An made by Acer notebooks use AMD’s E-Series Accelerated Processing Units are specifically designed for those students. The ads make it look like something James Cameron wrote and directed right after Avatar. He didn't. Cameron's title as executive producer sort of comes to down to Sanctum using the same 3D equipment Cameron did on Avatar.

The 10 Worst Movies of 2010

The director of Sanctum is Alister Grierson and he and screenwriters John Garvin and Andrew Wight have the instincts of hack filmmakers trying to sell us knockoff goods. The underwater cavers of Papua are indeed one of the last unexplored places on the globe. But Wight and his Aussie crew shot on sets and exteriors in Queensland, Australia. And sometimes the sets look like, well, Styrofoam. So do the actors. Richard Roxburgh overacts shamelessly as Frank, the great white adventurer leading a team through the underwater caverns. Rhys Wakefield plays Josh, Frank's teenage son who never gets enough attention and love from daddy. Want more clich—s? There's Carl the moneyman played by the usually reliable Ioan Gruffudd and the babe-in-distress played by Alice Parkinson.

Peter Travers reviews Sanctum in his weekly video series, "At the Movies With Peter Travers."

A storm whips these cardboard figures into a soggy frenzy. Screenwriter Wight reportedly led a similar expedition, but everyone survived. Sanctum tries to kill off as many characters as it can, presumably to create excitement. I was just grateful it shut them up. Dialogue like this needs silencing. There are a few scary moments when the characters have to squeeze through underwater passages. Maybe that's why a better title for Sanctum would be Scrotum. But the movie ultimately reveals itself as a pretender with no balls. Creatively, it's all wet.

Football Manager 2011 Tactics

Tactics in Football Manager 2011 are broken up into separate methods of instruction: Tactical Shape/Formation, Team Instructions, Player Duties, Player Roles, Player Instructions and Touchline Shouts. The immediate issues to deal with when building a tactic are your players. You need to decide how they're going to fit into your tactics or if you're going to build a tactic around what you have at the club. Sometimes, this decision is made for you, so it's best to review the squad fully and see what attributes your players have and how effective they'd be in a specific role, then begin to piece your tactical shape together and if you need to, hit the transfer market for some reinforcements.

Formations

The starting point of any tactic requires you to firstly assess your players and see who and what you're working with. After you've done that, you should have some idea of what kind of formation you're going to play. Most people tend to opt for the dependable 442, the more attacking 433, or the more defensive 451. These three tactics are the more popular shapes, but none of them have to dictate the way you chose to play the game. You could, for example, go with the 451 which offers strong defensive numbers and overcrowds the middle of the pitch (at the expense of attacking support for the lone striker) and could opt to be overly attacking and push high up the pitch, you don't necessarily need to sit back and counter-attack or play defensively just because your formation suggests it should be a more defensive tactic.

The overall thing to remember when selecting a formation is that you should take into account who you have in your team and the strength of those players. For example, if you don't have strong wingers it's obviously better to deploy your team to work through the middle of the pitch, solidify the midfield and look to get the stronger players on the field - although, not at the expense of playing players out of position. It's highly inadvisable to play weaker players just because they fit your preferred formation - if you can't replace the weak players, look to create a shape which has balance, but also potency; don't give the weaker players a role which they'll struggle to impress in, give them minimal duties and responsibilities and focus the tactic to get the better players more involved.

Philosophy
Philosophy is a hugely important aspect of the tactical setup. It defines the behaviour of the players. Basically a fluid style of play would have the players playing the game more to their specific personalities, defenders would attack more and attackers might come back more - much like the way Rooney plays in his free role at Manchester United - except the whole team would play in that manner. A rigid style of play would be the complete opposite to the fluid style, forcing the players to do exactly what you've told them - but this can have an effect on their creativity and improvisation. These settings will operate within the parameters of a player's personality though, so don't expect someone like Berbatov to start defending off the line during an opposition counter-attack, if you're set to a more fluid setting; Their Mental attributes obviously still come into play.

Strategy

Strategy dictates the behaviour and mentality of the team, as well as the movement of the players and their positioning. It's not an overly complex setup procedure, so it's worth experimenting with in some friendly games so you can see first-hand how the setting affects the team's approach to taking on the opposition. Strategy triggers the movement of the mentality and positioning sliders, which will create a different spacing system between each player - for example, if the players were very defensive, they'd be much closer together - hence less gaps in-between each player; if the players were very attacking, they'd be much further apart - hence wider gaps in-between each player.

http://www.truefootballmanager.com/2011/01/football-manager-2011-tactics.html - one of the best Football Manager 2011 tactics

http://fmcrowd.com - Football Manager community with many tactical discussions

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Vitaliy_Petrenko

3 Tips to Finding the Best Computer Games for Kids

When it comes to finding the best computer games for kids, parents have a really daunting task on their hands because there are loads of games on the market that seem just packed full of violence and scenes inappropriate for the much younger gamers.

Here are 3 tips to help you find the best computer games for your kids.

Tip #1

Before you shop, read up and find out what's what

Parents need to make sure they really know what's what in the game market. Don't get swindled by the sales talk and the hype of the newest games on the market. Find out about the content and the characters before shelling out your hard-earned money.

Tip #2

It's sometimes best to bypass the latest game

When games are first released, they often cost $40 to $50 and even up to $100 if there is sufficient hype. Lil' Johnny might not be happy that he doesn't have the new game like all his friends but if you wait at least a month or two, you could save yourself at least $20 on the "New" price. Another thing to stress here, is that new games will run better (or only run!) on newer computer systems, so if your computer is 3 years or older, you may find that the newer games just won't play!

Tip #3

Don't forget your child's interests

Don't get so wrapped up in saving money that you forget that Daisy prefers Barbie to Dora. It's important to remember the child that's going to be playing the game and make sure it's something you think they will actually enjoy. There is so much choice and various kinds of computer games for kids out there, especially online that you're bound to find something for each special little person in your family.

Want more help finding the kids computer games? In addition to touching near about everything in our lives, it has also changed the way we view television today. With the help of a desktop computer or even a laptop people are changing over to viewing movies and their favorite television shows through their computers via internet. Online companies like iTunes, Netflix and Hulu have made it easier for the people to view these quite easily. Falling in line with these companies even television networks are offering stream-able contents to be downloaded and enjoyed by the consumers.

Not to fall behind, the hardware companies also got their acts together and boosted this revolution by providing the proper hardware to make the viewing more easy with the required connectors and cables so that downloads can be viewed on high definition bigger television screens as well.

Most of the household have switched over to Netfix or iTunes or any other similar service to watch their favorite programs and movies giving up their old time satellite and cable services. However, there was a small inconvenience everyone was encountering; which was that every time one needs to play with the control buttons one had to leave the comfort of the sofa in order to execute the desired action like pausing or rewinding the video. However, this problem was also solved by the introduction of Touch Mouse by Microsoft application.

Microsoft's touch mouse is an application that has interface features having a blank dark area having buttons that work as left and right buttons of a mouse. The app is quite simple and can be connected with the PC through WiFi networking in your home. With the Logitech touch mouse thus connected you can control the PC from a distance without having to use the controls manually. Thus in the comfort of your sofa you will be able to control what you are viewing like pause, rewind on the computer similar to the way you use a remote control to operate your TV. She achieved high office in June when Kevin Rudd was removed from office with the efficiency of the stiletto. Et tu Brute. She is said to be very charming one on one but so I believe are crocodiles. Ms Gillard is also an atheist which apparently may not play out too well Down Under.

In the Liberal corner is Tony Abbott who once studied to be a Catholic priest. He was born in London albeit to Australian parents. Earlier this year he completed an iron man triathlon at Port Macquarie in NWS. He is well versed in the traditional debating arts of Australian politicians and last year described the argument for climate change as "absolute crap".

Ms Gillard expected to win by a street but her coup d'etat and worries about what she believes by way of policy, if she believes anything, are making this a neck and neck race.

We are used to criticism from our antipodean friends that England has to recruit for its cricket team from South Africa and now Ireland. So it is a glorious irony that the next PM of Oz will be a Welsh woman or a Londoner!

P.S. I hear Shane Warne has returned to Australia from his commentary duties on the England Pakistan series. On which side will he bowl his googly? The outcome will be known on election day August 21. Wisely, Apple hasn't sought to reinvent the wheel with the iPhone 4, but its sleek new look, handful of exciting new hardware features, and refreshed software has still managed to make us fall in love once more.

But the iPhone 4 will leave a substantial dent in your wallet. If you buy it directly from Apple, SIM-free and unlocked for use on any network, the iPhone 4 will cost £499 for the 16GB version and £599 for the 32GB version. It's also available from free on a £45-a-month contract. You can find the best deal for you by checking our price-comparison article.

Glass and steel
The previous iPhone reboot, the iPhone 3GS, kept the same appearance as its predecessor, the iPhone 3G. This time, it's a whole new ball game, with the curved back of previous iPhones replaced by a flat, glass rear.

Apple's case protects the phone and should help with reception problems caused by obscuring the antenna

Apple says that glass is more resistant to scratches than plastic, but we've smashed enough screens to think that this change could be a boon to case manufacturers. For the first time, Apple is even flogging a case when you buy the phone from the online Apple store -- it's a 'bumper' that surrounds the edges of the phones with rubber.

Despite its flat front and back, and a case that's only 9mm thick, the iPhone 4 feels surprisingly solid and sturdy. But it doesn't feel as thin as it really is -- considering that it's the thinnest smart phone out there, it feels much like the 3GS, which is about 3mm thicker at its widest point, but rounded so it's thinner at the very edges. That's not to say that the iPhone 4 feels chunky -- it just doesn't feel as wafer-thin as we expected.

Appearance is always a matter of taste. Some may adore the iPhone 4's more industrial appearance, but others will prefer the rounded curves of the older models. We fall into the latter camp. Maybe that's just because we miss spinning the 3GS on its back when we're bored.

Call me quick
The glass back should also help the iPhone 4 to hold its network connection, since it should be transparent to radio signals. Although we adored almost everything about the previous iPhone, it was terrible for making boring old phone calls. The overloaded O2 network, which suffered from congestion when O2 was the only carrier to have the iPhone, was partly to blame for that.

The glass front and back are trimmed with a steel band around the edge, split into two pieces -- hence the seams that Gizmodo revealed when it leaked an iPhone 4 prototype. The seams have a purpose: the two pieces of steel act as antennas -- one for Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth, and the other for the mobile-phone network.

It sounds like a genius idea, but it didn't take ZDNet UK editor Rupert Goodwins long to figure out a flaw -- when you grab an antenna with your hands, it adversely affects reception. We tested the iPhone 4 with a Vodafone SIM card and, although we usually have five full bars of delicious Vodafone coverage in our elite testing tree house, the signal dropped to one lonely bar after a minute or so when we held the phone normally in our left hand. That means answering your phone in a one-bar environment could reduce the signal to zero bars, although we didn't experience that problem, thanks to Vodafone's solid coverage in our area.

Obscuring the seam on the iPhone 4's left side can lead to a reduction in signal strength

The drop in signal strength only seemed to occur when we held the phone in our left hand, with the bottom of our palm slightly covering the bottom-left corner of the phone. Holding the phone in our right hand, or along the top, didn't seem to affect reception. We lost one bar just by pressing a fingertip against the seam that's on the bottom-left corner, so perhaps this is where the trouble lies. We'll be getting our crack team of antenna engineers to investigate the issue more thoroughly soon.

We did experience one call that failed to connect and went straight to voicemail, so it seems that the iPhone's call issues haven't been totally resolved. We'll be keeping our eyes on this issue during our long-term test of the phone, during which we'll use other networks, so stay tuned.

The iPhone 4 includes an extra microphone for noise-cancelling purposes. We compared the phone to a Google Nexus One, which also has noise-cancelling microphone, by making a call next to a TV playing vuvuzela-blaring World Cup coverage. We called the same landline phone from both mobiles, and both calls were clear and audible, although the Nexus One did a marginally better job of cutting out background noise. We also found that the output of the iPhone 4's speaker was easier to hear than that of previous iPhones, and we didn't have to place it as accurately against our lugholes.

Look into my retinas
Besides its glass makeover, the iPhone 4's dolled itself up with a spectacular-looking new display. Apple's calling it a 'retina display', and it has a 960x640-pixel resolution, which is quadruple the number of pixels sported by the iPhone 3GS in the same 89mm (3.5-inch) area.

The 3GS' 480x320-pixel screen is lovely and very usable, but the iPhone 4's display is noticeably better. Even compared to the stunningly clear, 480x854-pixel screen of the Motorola Milestone, the iPhone 4's display has the advantage because of its bright whites and midnight-dark blacks.

The screen makes everything look crisper, and, since user-interface elements like buttons are vector graphics, many parts of apps will look better without developers having to rebuild them to take advantage of the increased resolution. But, ironically, the extra resolution reveals the fuzziness of icons and images that haven't been scaled up to handle it.

It's definitely a case of the more pixels the merrier as far as ebooks and Web pages are concerned. The text on Web pages looks as sharp as a razor -- no matter how closely you zoom in -- and ebooks also look wonderful.

Apple's iBooks app has made it to the iPhone 4. The super-sharp screen means ebooks look great

That's good news given the revelation that Apple's ebook app, iBooks, is coming to the iPhone from the iPad. If you're a proud iPad owner, the ebooks that you buy on there will be available to download again for free on the iPhone 4. But you may be annoyed by one quirk of iBooks on the iPhone 4 -- the buttons to open the store and edit your library are reversed compared to the iPad's, for no good reason we can see.

Fourth time's the charm
The iPhone 4 runs the latest version of the iPhone operating system, iOS 4. We're fervent fans of the iPhone's intuitive user interface, and iOS 4 adds some features we've been craving, including a light dusting of multitasking. That means you can theoretically listen to Spotify while you surf, or make a Skype call at any time -- once the companies have updated their apps to take advantage of the feature -- because the app is always running in the background.

The multitasking feature already offers advantages, even without updated apps. For example, Web pages will load in the background while you go off and do something else, and you can stop writing an email to look something up in your notes, without losing what you've written.

It's basic stuff compared to what's offered by a desktop computer, since only a few, restricted program types can run in the background, such as VoIP and music apps. But this feature is easy to use and doesn't drain the iPhone's battery as much as true multitasking would.

FaceTime lets you make video calls to other iPhone 4 owners -- but only over Wi-Fi

The iPhone's email app has also received some polish. You can now read new emails from all your accounts in one combined inbox, and group conversations as in Gmail. The Palm Pre Plus and BlackBerry range of phones also handle email very well, but these improvements put the iPhone 4 up there with the best touchscreen smart phones in this field.

Finally, Apple has given us some power over our home screens with iOS 4. Previously, the only thing you could do to make your phone your own was to slap an image on the lock screen and order your apps. Now you have the option to add wallpaper to the home screens and sort your icons into folders. It's not much, but it's a welcome change, especially since there are apps that you may not have any interest in, such as Stocks (especially once you've blown your nest egg on the latest iPhone), but are unable to delete.

You can also get iOS 4 on the 3GS, so it's not unique to the iPhone 4. For more information on what's new, check out our full iOS 4 story, and also see our detailed comparison of iOS 4 and the latest iteration of Google's Android operating system, version 2.2.

LED light, camera, action
Apple has bumped up the resolution of the iPhone's camera to 5 megapixels, and added an LED photo light to help out in dark situations. With a steady hand, it's easy to get decent shots with the iPhone 4 and, thanks to the LED light, shots in dim conditions are surprisingly good. The on-screen controls for the LED light are easy to use. We also love the touch-to-focus feature, which does just what it says on the tin, providing a quick, intuitive way to let the phone's automatic focus and brightness controls know what you really want to capture.

Naturally, the phone's snapper can't compete with a compact camera in terms of photo quality or exposure controls, but we'd be happy to have the iPhone 4 in our pocket for those Facebook photo emergencies.

The biggest bonus of the iPhone 4's camera is its super-fast shutter speed. It takes only a split second to capture a shot after you've pressed the on-screen shutter button. That's a big bonus in those situations when you really need to take a photo.

The iPhone 4 also records 720p, high-definition video at 30 frames per second, and video has the same tap-to-focus feature that previous iPhones only offered when taking still photos. In our tests, the video quality was fine, but film suffered from extreme shutter roll, with the world seeming to wobble like jelly because the camera's processor can't handle motion well enough. Don't expect the quality of a dedicated camcorder, and you won't be disappointed by mobile-phone video that's good enough for capturing occasional shenanigans.

iTunes makes it easy to sync your photos, along with music and apps, as long as you don't mind being locked to one computer and one program. Other phones offer much more flexibility. For example, you can't store just any file on your iPhone, as you can with many other phones that work as external flash drives. But, if you just want to keep it simple, iTunes will do the job, and it also gives you desktop access to Apple's huge music, video and app emporium.

Face up to your calls
The iPhone 4 also treats us to a camera on the front. This camera does take stills but it's mostly meant for video calling -- a feature that Apple has dubbed FaceTime. FaceTime seems to have impressed the Americans more than the concept of bacon weave, but we're not so easily wowed, since we've been basking in video calls in the UK for years.

Once more, Apple offers an easy-to-use interface that makes video calls easy to make and control. FaceTime has plenty of pleasing features, including the fact that the image of your friend's mug rotates automatically when your chum rotates their handset. But FaceTime only works between iPhone 4 handsets and only over Wi-Fi. We don't expect that FaceTime will usher in a new dawn for a feature that's failed to take off in the past.

Chat marathon
The major drawback of the iPhone has always been its paltry battery life, but, despite its thin case, the iPhone 4 promises to make improvements. Apple says we'll get 7 hours of talk time over 3G, and 300 hours of standby time from the new, bigger battery. We'll soon be putting these claims to the test, with a full battery showdown, so stay tuned for our results.

The iPhone 4 also ramps up the Wi-Fi speed, with support for the latest 802.11n standard. HSPA connectivity enables fast downloads and uploads over 3G.

The prize for the most unpredictable new feature goes to the iPhone 4's gyroscope, which helps out the phone's accelerometer when it comes to games and apps that need to know the exact orientation of the phone. We're looking forward to seeing what developers of augmented-reality apps come up with to exploit this quirky new toy, but, for now, it doesn't add much to the experience of using the phone.

Happily, Apple hasn't skimped on speed to support all of these new tricks, and the iPhone 4 is as nippy as a trip down a water slide covered in K-Y Jelly. Everything from apps to text messages pops up quickly, and the on-screen keyboard is thrillingly responsive. It also adds a spell-checking feature to make one of the best virtual keyboards in the business even better.

Conclusion
Apple had plenty to live up to after making three of the highest-rated phones on CNET UK, and, with fantastic Android-powered handsets such as the HTC Desire on the market, the competition is stiffer than ever. But we think Apple has done enough to stay ahead of its rivals, thanks to the iPhone 4's improved camera, the useful software tweaks in iOS 4, and a simply stunning screen. With a price that's often double that of competing handsets, the iPhone 4 is very expensive, but no other phone can offer quite the same sheer, silky pleasure. The iPhone 3GS is dead -- long live the iPhone 4.

Source : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/apple-iphone-4-review-49305853/

BlackBerry Bold 9780 review

Back to the old school

Keyboard-loving BlackBerry fans who dutifully purchased the excellent Bold 9700 back in 2009 will probably be eyeing the 9780 with intense interest. Although the BlackBerry Torch 9800 was the first device from RIM to boast version 6 of its operating system, we're willing to bet that many hardcore devotees passed on purchasing it because of its sliding form factor and reliance on touchscreen commands -- two elements that don't exactly fit in with the company's ethos. The 9780 is therefore the first 'traditional' RIM phone to get the BlackBerry 6 OS, but by sticking to convention, the company has missed out on the opportunity to keep up with its rivals.

From a physical standpoint, the 9780 is almost identical to its predecessor. There are subtle differences -- including a slightly different faux-leather pattern on the back -- but for all intents and purposes, this is last year's fashion masquerading as today's trend. Not that there's anything especially wrong with that, of course. The 9700 was quite a looker, and this updated version retains the sleek lines, robust build quality and that gorgeous Qwerty keyboard.

Terrific typing

Any review of a BlackBerry device simply wouldn't be complete with some mention of its keyboard. Thankfully, the example sported by the 9780 doesn't disappoint. It's exactly the same as the one on the 9700, and as anyone who has used that particular device will tell you, that is most certainly an encouraging thing. Although the sheer volume of buttons crammed into such a small space is initially intimidating, it doesn't take long for you to fall in love once your fingertips touch the keys. It's easy to see why BlackBerry's line of products is so heavily favoured by mobile email users, because tapping out an essay-like message on the 9780 is almost as natural as using a full-blown computer keyboard.

The 9780's brilliant Qwerty arrangement is great for compiling emails, but it's not so compatible with the BlackBerry 6 OS.

Despite being the spitting image of the 9700, the 9780 does feature some internal enhancements. The most notable is the 5-megapixel camera, which offers up far superior shots than its forebear. We were genuinely impressed by the quality and honestly weren't expecting so significant an improvement. Sadly, the same can't be said of the phone's video-recording prowess, which is sketchy at best. Those of you expecting RIM to jump on board the increasingly popular 720p-capture bandwagon are going to be severely put out by the 9780's blocky and jerky footage.

One element of the phone's specification which hasn’t changed since the 9700 is the CPU, which remains locked down at 624MHz -- this is comparable to most low-level Android devices these days. Thankfully, the amount of on-board RAM has been doubled to 512MB, and this seems to have a dramatic effect on overall performance. Using the phone is a smooth and trouble-free affair.

BlackBerry 6 and the 9780: The odd couple

As we've already mentioned, the 9780 eschews the touchscreen revolution entirely -- navigation is handled by a capacitive touchpad, just as was the case on the 9700. It's incredibly sensitive and takes some getting used to, but on the whole it performs admirably. In saying that, the combination of this interface with the BlackBerry 6 OS -- which, lest we forget, was designed to function with the Torch's touchscreen -- throws up some quirks. Selecting the app or icon you want is a counter-intuitive process, and it's clear that many operations would be better executed if you could just stab them with one of your digits.

Thank goodness, then, for the ability to explore your entire phone using BlackBerry 6's powerful Universal Search tool. Always within reach on the home screen, this feature grants near-instantaneous access to almost every facet of the 9780's functionality, and makes up for the shortcomings of the menu system.

Holding down the BlackBerry symbol opens up the multitasking menu, which is similar to the one seen on Android phones.

Other elements of BlackBerry 6 work just as impressively as they did on the Torch. Control of emails remains a strong point, and despite the massive strides made by the iPhone and Android platforms in this area, they simply can't hold a candle to RIM. This is a company that has practically built its entire reputation on comprehensive mobile email access, and if you're a business type with several accounts active simultaneously, there really is no substitute.

Browsing the Web is more pleasant than it was on BlackBerry OS 5, too, and the bundled social-networking applications -- which predictably cover Twitter and Facebook -- are very welcome, even going as far as to offer background notifications, just like their Android counterparts. Furthermore, you can aggregate this information, along with any RSS feeds you may have, in the 9780's Social Feeds app.

A tangled Web

When it comes to browsing the Web on the 9780, the lack of a touchscreen is especially irksome. Perhaps it's just us, but after several months of gleefully navigating, zooming and tapping our way around countless websites using capacitive touchscreen devices, dropping back to a phone that requires you to use a physical interface feels like going from a silken pair of boxer shorts to itchy Y-fronts. Losing such creature comforts as gesture commands and double-tap zoom is jarring, although it should be noted that the actual performance of the 9780's browser is praiseworthy, on the whole. The ability to have several pages open in tandem using a tabbed browsing option is particularly welcome.

The 9780 packs in 3G and Wi-Fi, so connectivity isn't an issue. Thankfully, the inclusion of these technologies -- in addition to the 'always on' connection for email access -- doesn't seem to have had too much of a negative impact on the phone's battery stamina. Okay, this is a smart phone, and as such you won't be getting a week's worth of usage out of a single charge, but the 9780 comfortably outlasts its rivals, especially the power-guzzling Samsung Galaxy S. It's possible that the modest 2.4-inch, 480x360-pixel screen also contributes to the longer-lasting battery.

Conclusion

While there was nothing particularly wrong with the Bold 9700's design, to make its direct successor almost identical does strike us as a little lazy. The internal improvements made by RIM make the BlackBerry Bold 9780 a pretty enticing proposition, and the inclusion of the BlackBerry 6 operating system at least ensures the phone is up to date. That said, it's clear the software has been coded expressly with touchscreen devices in mind, and this can make using the 9780 a little awkward.

It's doubtful that the 9780 will tempt iPhone and Android users away from their current handsets, but that's probably not the intention anyway. RIM is catering for its existing fan base with this device, and we imagine business users will continue to flock to the company's banner thanks to its finger-friendly Qwerty keyboard and robust email capabilities. The trouble is, the BlackBerry brand is under very real threat from its smart phone rivals, and relying too much on tradition may turn out to be a foolhardy exercise -- especially as recent sales figures indicate the company's support is slowly but surely dwindling in the face of devices like the iPhone 4, HTC Desire HD and Samsung Omnia 7.

Source : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/blackberry-bold-9780-review-50001585/

Review Laptop ACER oNE hAPPY

As the dark winter nights draw in, Acer is aiming to dispel our thoughts of suicide with the Aspire One Happy, offered in four cheery pastel shades. But that's not the only thing that's different about this netbook. It also comes with dual operating systems: Windows 7 Starter and Android 2.1. If you're feeling tempted, the netbook will set you back £250 from Laptops Direct.

All the colours of the rainbow

The main difference between the Happy and other netbooks in the Aspire range is the variety of colours on offer: pink, purple, green and blue.

We had the pink version in for review. It certainly looks quite striking. The finish feels cheap compared to that of the pricier Samsung N220, but the netbook feels robust overall. The small, 10.1-inch screen means it's very portable and certainly small enough to carry around in a backpack or a large handbag. At just 1.3kg, it won't weigh you down either.

The screen might be small, but its resolution is reasonably good by netbook standards, at 1,024x600 pixels. Its LED backlighting helps it to produce very bright images and, thanks to the glossy coating, colours are impressively rich and dynamic. But the glossy finish does make it fairly reflective, which is noticeable when you use it indoors in bright lights.

Cracking keyboard

Like most of Acer's current line-up of laptops and netbooks, the Happy uses an isolated keyboard design. The design differs from that of other manufacturers because the keys seem to float above the surface of the netbook.

The keys are quite large and wide by netbook standards, and they feel responsive, so they're a pleasure to type on. We like the trackpad too, as its rectangular shape gives you plenty of room and the single rocker-style button responds with a positive click when it's tapped.

On the storage front, the Happy packs in a 250GB hard drive. Connectivity-wise, there's both the newer, high-speed version of Bluetooth, as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi. You also get three USB ports, as well as an SD memory-card reader.

Pointless Android

Like the Aspire One D255 that we looked at last month, the Happy comes with two operating systems: Windows 7 Starter and Android 2.1. The latter is more commonly found on smart phones and doesn't work well on this netbook. Although Android loads much faster than Windows, it feels awkward to use, which isn't surprising, as it was designed primarily for touchscreen devices.

For example, to exit an application, you have to reach over and hit the Esc key -- you can't simply click on an 'X' in the corner of the app, as you can in Windows. There are actually times when Android feels more sluggish than Windows 7, and you don't get access to the Android Market, so installing new apps isn't straightforward. But, if you don't want to use Android, you can simply turn it off via an easy-to-use application in Windows, after which it won't be offered as an option at boot time.

Slow speed, long battery

As the Happy uses a single-core Intel Atom N450 processor, rather than the dual-core N550 found in the D255, its performance is more in line with that of a traditional netbook. In the PCMark05 benchmark test, it managed to post a score of 1,244. This indicates that it's fine for simple tasks like emailing and Web surfing, but, like most netbooks, it feels sluggish when it comes to multitasking. It even struggled to smoothly play standard-definition video feeds on BBC iPlayer.

Graphics duties are handled by an integrated Intel GMA GPU. This doesn't have the grunt to deal with 3D gaming, something which is evident from its lowly score of 149 in 3DMark06.

In the Battery Eater test, the Happy managed to keep running for 4 hours and 45 minutes, which is pretty average for a netbook in this price range.
