OK so in an attempt to contribute more to the Podcast we are currently running I posted something. It screwed up something with iTunes and we will work on fixing it but for now EP.2 is NOT out and the second file is probably just a repeat of the first. Sorry about that and for you reading pleasure I bring you the blog that fucked it all up...

Well hello there, glad to see you could make it. Before you get all upset let me tell you what is happening. A few guys from the internet decided that it would be cool to make a blog, then they decided it would be a good idea to talk about blogs with other people, then they realized they had no friends and went on Skype to make some. This was the end result.

So now that you know the back story you should also know the front story. Episode 2 is "on it way" which means it is sitting on my computer waiting to be processed. Things are taking a bit to happen because we all do have lives outside of this project. So please be patient and keep your hate in its proper hate bombs and not hurling into Blogwavatopia(TM). To hold you over we spent some time making things easier on you and through my constant nagging and whipping I was able to take credit for something Rats and Frosty did by putting the link to iTunes in here first. Give us a good score or I will come to your house, break in the door, and sob quietly in the corner.

Last on the list is ME, because Snickelsox is a self important bastard who speaks in the third person. You may have noticed that I have not been around a whole lot in the blog-o-sphere and especially so when it concerns our podcast and everything linked to it. I just want to say that while it seems like I am not part of this thing I assure you that I very much am. I take care of all the editing and do my best to come up with good topics and so if you do not like either of those then send the hate mail to Blogwavepodcast@gmail.com, or comment here, or add us on Facebook and rest well assured with the knowledge that I will take any and all thoughts into consideration. This Podcast is not about us, it is about you and everything that you want. More Excuses

So being the host of a brand new podcast I have certain obligations and responsibilities. One of those being that I have to announce the podcast and should probably do it first, as you can see I dropped the ball on that one. Anyway the podcast is my new excuse for not putting out enough post to keep “the masses” happy. So click on this, and then click on some more things in there and then before you get all Internet crazy on me, I know... we are working on getting an RSS and getting on to iTunes but free hosting and all that nonsense is not always easy to find when you have an agenda. And by agenda I mean standards, and by that I mean “Why are you still reading this, the link is up there?!”

Sim-taculair

So for my wife's birthday she wanted the most boring game in the world... The Sims 3. I am glad that she has a brand spanken new game to enjoy but holy balls in a toaster is that game slow. I have been watching her play it some and I really do like nearly everything about it, the systems all work, there is a million things to do with your Sim, and the screams they make when they are burning alive are quite satisfying. But still this game's speed somehow pushes me away, I have a feeling that once I drown my first Sim and then make his ghost fall in love with his niece and they have a Sim ghost baby then the game will pretty much be over for me. Maybe the game is just over my head... or maybe I'm too MAN for this game and want there to be more chainsaws and electricity that is on fire! My life is too hard as it is, I do not need to run another six of them.

Some Bargain Win

So speaking of violence and all the blood soaked awesomeness that entails, I happened across a game called Darksiders sitting in the bargain bin. I knew that this game had gotten decent reviews and decided that for twenty bucks that I had nothing to lose. In fact I was correct, more than that I was blown away at how much I gained. Within first half hour I started the apocalypse, turned into a fiery sword -wielding dragon beast, and made a horde of demons into a horde of my bitch. The sheer amount of testosterone that leeches out of this game has made me go bald and changed my dick into a monster that controls time itself. This game has very little wrong with it, mainly the frame rate skips a beat every so often and the cut scenes come way too abruptly, but those are really my only complaints and when the game is in the bargain bin I can over look such small errors. Several people have likened it to a Zelda game and they are all correct in the sense that it is a dungeon game with lots of puzzles, but wrong in the sense that War is not a Cockgoblin and would eat Link for breakfast. All in all this game is amazing and well worth the money.

The Battle for Mor-Sleep

Using my +4 grapes and my Emercen-C potions I was once again able to triumph over the tyrannical cold that so afflicted my body. The battle was short but fierce, the deadly virus thought it could suffocate me with my own mucus but little did it know I could breath with my mouth! Much water was lost in the epic battle and the colds pal “De-hydra-tion” is still around but he will soon fall to my mighty glass of purified water. Sadly in all the confusion I was unable to keep the virus from attacking my dear wife and now she fights the good fight against our common enemy, however our foe has turned her, changing her into an evil beast that blames me for the sicknesses existence. Rather than argue the facts with this new threat I chose “Run away” and then came here to tell you all about it... Diary, do you think I will ever not be a huge dork?

Microshafted

With my sickness behind me and my computer in front of me I decided to finally sink my teeth into Minecraft, not the online version, and try to see what everyone is talking about. It is about four hours into it and I have to say that I am just not feeling it. Let me elaborate before you all seek pitchforks and torches to kill me with. I like Minecraft, it fun, its happy, it chugs like a fat fuck at Oktoberfest. I told my self that once I started playing Minecraft that I would build “The most amazing castle, that also looked like a penis, ever” and I still plan to do this once I an get around Microsoft kicking the fun right out of my balls. This is the real meat of this topic, not Minecraft, it is Microsoft and their shitty excuse for an OS. As you can probably tell I am using Vista and even though this is an old topic my nerd rage commands that I yell at them from my obscure corner of the blog-o-sphere. Fuck Micro-fucking-soft in their money-fucking-grubbing shit-fucking-stained ass-fucking-holes. What does this have to do with gaming you ask? Well I could go into detail about the connections but I am pretty sure you can figure it out with this mathematical formula. Microsoft's shitty programs+ Games for windows= A fucking nerd-pocalypse where shit storms become an IRL occurrence. It is going to be awful, so brace for impact.

Totally Not Fine Number Nine

Intra-blah-blah

I'm am sitting here with about fifteen tabs open. I have cool edit pro editing that podcast that I was talking about making. Skype is beeping at me every three seconds. My stomach is growling explatives at me. I'm fighting a cold that I have had for days. And on top of all this I have played no games save for Cut the Rope on my damn iPod. So it seems that I have nothing really to talk about but little do you know that my sick delirium can produce words... and stuff...

System Speak

So since I have not really played a whole lot I figured I should talk about a favorite subject of mine. Playstation Plus, man this has been one roller coaster of a service. At first it sounded like an amazing prospect, pay a little bit and get a few games and shit in return. Well it did not turn out that way for a while, at least until now. Sony seemed to have come through with their last few updates, giving everyone the Assassins Creed Beta and games like Oddworld and Burn Zombie Burn, this all makes me very excited. Plus, even though its not only for Plus, we now have a Netflix program that actually works and seems to be more reliable than even my computer. People rag on Sony a lot and maybe its just the fan boy in me but I feel like they are there to please their customers rather than running for a cash grab. But I still want my cross game chat.

Undead-cast

So in my Nyquil induced stupor I have stumbled upon an amazing podcast that is just in time for Halloween. It it called We're Alive and its a story about the zombie apocalypse done in the format of old radio shows in the vein of War of the Worlds, the great hoax radio show. I really can not get enough of this podcast partially because I love zombies but also because the story and everything is really well put together. The voice acting is astounding and all the background noise feels realistic and in place with the rest of the story. If you like zombies then this is not a podcast to pass up, the world feels very believable and fleshed out, partially because your mind will fill in the blank spots where you would normally see video instead. Get this podcast!

Time Eighter!

Time is most certainly not on my side.

So as much as I wish I had the time and the energy to give you all the news and rants on video games that you all deserve I simply cannot. I feel as though every day I get older and older as the world gets younger and hipper. Case in point is that I hate almost all modern music and all those kids need to pick up their damn pants! Anyway since I feel really old I guess I should act it and live up to my lies. I have not been able to give you as much updates as I promised but I am am working on it so cut me some slack, I mean I am about to have a baby jeez!

Tears on My PSP.

So I have finally “beaten” Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and by beaten I mean I destroyed all the main bosses and got the secret ending but not the super mega secret ending and I have not beaten all the side bosses. I am not sure if I even want to go through the effort of killing all the mega bosses because FUCK the unbalanced bosses in this game. When I hit you, you recoil you cunt slapping nut jockey! I hate all the bull shit cheesing and overall cheapness of the later bosses in this game. Especially the secret final boss who can rest his chin on my balls for all I care, he has a combo that is UN-blockable, UN-stoppable, and is usually one use K.O. Which almost made me break my PSP into bite size chunks. This game has a way of making you feel like a god and then bitch slapping you until you want to cry for your mother. Plus once you beat it, you have not, and once you are sure its all done, you are wrong. It is only when you get to the point that you think “ There is no way that they want me to do all that” that you are truly understanding what the designers want you to do to actually BEAT this game. Square Enix you are a bunch of bastards but man do I love an unattainable one hundred percentage mark.

Old and Unimproved

While listening to my usual plethora of podcast I was struck by a quote that somebody somewhere said. “Write like no one cares.” I have thought at length about this saying and I think it may change the way I write this blog. But then again I know you all are hanging on my every last word as if it were a Phoenix Down right? In all seriousness though I really like this saying and it really seems to ring true in the blogger world, and in fact every sort of text ever written. I realize that not a whole lot of people care about what happens Sephiroths shirt at the end of FFVII and so I have done my best to just do an overall sweep of the games I like, or hate for that matter. Anyway I just thought that was an interesting quote and one that I should share.

Rumors of War

So rumors have been floating around about Gears of War coming to the PS3. If you are reading this and they have been confirmed or officially denied then just skip this paragraph. However if they have not then all I have to say about this is, do NOT want. I already have enough “ hardcore” games on the PS3 and enough “hardcore” people, do not bring anymore over here. I do not care if Gears is an Xbox exclusive, in fact I want it to be kept that way, those games are terrible and need to stay with the terrible system. Please Sony do not even attempt to get those dick hungry roid filled cock mongrels on a Blu-Ray. The collective nerd of gamers is already getting “bro'd” up with this shit over on the other console, no one wants that on the PS3, our community is annoying enough as it is! You already have Mass Effect 2 coming over here, why the fuck would you need yet another port, especially of this one?! Fuck you Microsoft, keep your stanky ass game in the corner where it belongs. I'm Just A Love Machine

So I was watching some obscure Japanese video online a while back where they were talking about making Love Plus (or something like it) on the 3DS, for those of you who do not know what that game is let me explain. It is a game where virtual girls give lonely guys attention and make them feel loved and wanted. It is the closest you can get to a loving cyborg sex slave at the moment. It is a pretty neat concept and is currently only big on the DS but with the recent trend of augmented reality and motion control I wonder how far this will go? What I mean is what is the next step between the 3DS and the consoles and their new level of control. We all know the PS Move looks very dildo like, when will these dating simulators evolve to the point that I can control an on screen vibrator. Let us bring the Kinect into the scene, you do not even need a controller and I am sure they could figure out the humping motion. By now you have probably grasped my point, but in case you have not here is it” When will the dating sims evolve to the point where I can have virtual sex with anime girls?” I can see the Jerry Springer shows now “ He left me for his Xbox!” As much as I want to make fun of this I also think this would be a true revolution in the way people look at video games, be it for better or worse.

Podcast Rally

As stated before I listen to an insane amount of podcast through out the week, some good some bad. Anyway I want to make it a habit to suggest a podcast for my loyal fan base. This weeks suggestion it called The Grandmas Virginity Podcast. The production value and hard work these guys, and gals, put into this podcast really is quite impressive. At first they may seem a little brash and quite lowbrow but the more you listen to them the more they grow on you. They take their podcast pretty seriously even if they are not quite as consistent with their recordings as they should be. They also are heavily linked into the TV and movie industry and you might even get some hot and juicy “scoops” from time to time. While sometimes they can make some pretty lame jokes and the host inability to hide his "chan" anonymity can grind against my soul, they do really good work and try to make their podcast as high quality as possible. Anyway they are worth a listen so go do... that...

Stifling My Artistic Spirit

I guess I should wrap things to a close because people bitch about things being too long. It sucks because I have a lot more to talk about but hey, what can you do. I have been kicking around the idea of starting my own podcast, it would probably be about bogging and the Internet as a whole, with just a little game here and there.It would not be just me of course but a whole plethora of bloggers who can give you shitty advice. Would you listen, would you give me 4 stars on iTunes, would you promise not to find me and beat my jeans off? Life is Beautiful

I have noticed that the older I get the less time I have for video games. Plus the more time I spend on this the less time I have for video games. Hell even the time I spend pooping has gradually gotten longer and I cannot bring a TV in there. And do not even get me started on this whole “working” thing that I have to do. All because I my family and I have to eat, and thats another thing that I spend to much time doing is eating. I do not know how as a child I was able to juggle school, family, and games and still spend most of that gaming but I did. I need my brain to just be put into a jar wired up to some console because I no longer have 70 plus hours to sink into a Final Fantasy anymore. But I decided to try anyway.

Tunnelosis

I do not get the complaints about the long tunnel syndrome associated with this game. I have played many Final Fantasies in my day and if anyone remember s number ten then they should feel right at home. I feel like the only reason people have been complaining about running in a straight line with XIII is because they give you the illusion of freedom by giving you control over the camera. I see no difference in the way this game makes you progress forward as compared to FFX or even God of War. In both of those games there is little or no backtracking or exploration but you do not notice because they make it very clear that you are going to travel on their standards by locking the camera in one position. Their freedom deception also translated into the battle scene, where it looks like you could run around like an actions RPG but no. The game is actually uses an Active Time Battle system that we have already seen in a few other FFs. The hate on this game may be well founded but if you take a step back and look at what the game really is and not what it is trying to trick you into thinking it is then you will have a much better time with it. On a last note though, what is that red headed girls nationality. At first she sounds normal and then all sudden she is British until she changes into a hick. Who raised this girl to talk like this!?

I have posted these links once before but with this event coming up in less than a week I figured it would be a good time to do it again. This is all for a charity called “extra life” and is a great cause. If you are reading this blog then chances are you have already heard about it but for those of you living under a rock I should probably tell you what is going on. All sorts of people in the gaming industry and normal gamers alike join together and play games for twenty four hours straight and get people to donate money to them. ALL this money goes to the Children's Miracle Network and it helps little children who are to sick to breath to get better and start donating their lives to making amazing games. Donate to this cause because you never know who the next David Jaffe will be and because its what good people do. If you cannot donate then just go on Google and look up any place that is participating and most will let you sign up to play alongside the “main players” in this charity and that will help them stay awake which still helps those sick children.

Fifth time is the charm

So it seems as though my format of posting once a week does not please the masses, they wish for a more blogger-style blog. I personally kinda liked my old format because it broke away from the huge glut of four sentence blogs, but as my baby I would love my format even if it was retarded. So from here on I am going to attempt to do it differently and try to post a few times a week. Length may still be an issue for some people as I really really hate short ass blogs. I want to make my site into the best it can be though so that means change is inevitable. So leave a comment, send me a message, call my house and leave angry voice mails, whatever it takes just let me know what I could do to make it better. Also the color scheme will change since people seem to really hate it or maybe it will not because its my”artistic vision” or some shit like that.

Who is THE Scott?

I beat the Scott Pilgrim game and I just about broke my controller doing it. It seems that after the fifth reset the system gains sentience and begins to taunts you. The fan kicks on tricking you into thinking the system is just trying to cool itself off but its actually calling out to you. “wzzzzz you suck at this game wzzzzzz” Screw you PS3 my mother is a kind and decent lady! With all arguments with inanimate objects aside the game really shines when it is working. It also reminds you at every chance it gets that you suck at video games and that if it were not for the “food system” you would be a strange smelling puddle on the sidewalk. The final boss will take most of your lives and one of his forms has several invisible fists attached to his visible one so that when he punches you are going to get his. Do not lose that love sword, if you do just restart the level. After the credits ran I began thinking about what a bad ass Scott was and then suddenly I though of Heavy Rain and Scott Shelby which leads me to my favorite poll so far *drum roll* Which Scott is more of a bad ass? Poll is there>>>

So a lot of people seem to be upset about the DmC pallet swap. An d I say, who give a flying rats ass about such a dumb subject!? People think that now he looks dumb? At the risk of busting your bubble kiddo, he was never cool. I never once wanted to play Devil May Cry before this because he looked like a terrible stripper at some creepy gay bar. Bleached white hair, tube top, demon slapping dick, pouty lips... you people thought that was cool? The new Dante is not cool either so do not pin me in that category either. I honestly could care less about some dude with a sword who thinks he can kill demons with it. You know what would really be a reboot of the series, get rid of the angel and demon bull shit and give me an enemy that mankind has not been writing stories about for centuries. Or make it Pony Island Express Adventure May Cry Extreme... I might play that actually.

EA however has not been so nice and has declared my are “dead space” by simply making it too hard to connect to anyone that I do not have on my friends list. The fourth in a string of losses

I love you guys very much. I have been asking over and over again for you all to punch holes in my rantings and reviews and everyone just responds positively. I could never in my wildest dreams imagine that the internet, in all its hate machine glory, could be so kind and thoughtful. I expected to start a blog and get thrashed every time I turned around but you all have made me feel more welcome into this community than into my own family. Now just do not pull a Precious and start raping me please. And on that topic I have a question, that little nasty kid from that movie, the one she pushes down in the alleyway, was that a boy or a girl? Poll is over there.>>>

Borderlands WTF?!

So I finally beat Borderlands, at least all the game that was on the disk and I only have one major question. What the fuck was that all about? I spent a lot of time doing all the side quests and leveling up. Every time I got to a new area I would purposely not progress until that annoying robot stopped chiming in on the corner of my screen. If you have played this game you know what I am talking about, that little fucker near killed me. Every single time I would finish all the quests he would pop up “ durk durk quest time sucker!” and I would grind my teeth and do them anyway. All the time I was thinking that this work is gonna pay off when I finally get the the Vault and find out what the hell everyone is talking about. I finally get there and then I have to fight a toothed- vagina tentacle monster then cut to black aaaaand... Credits roll then ninja claptrap. After that I had to finish the last mission and go see some bitch to give her some item I had spent the whole game getting and she gives me the equivalent of twenty bucks and the game is then done, with a very unceremonious “ding” that you get after every damn mission. I am just confused at to what bone head thought that this was a good ending? So now their ploy to get me to pay for more content has worked because damn I love zombies. All in all I had a fun time despite the very lackluster ending and I would suggest this game to anyone with a little money and a lot of time to sink. If I had to give it a score I would not because scores are retarded and unnecessary.

A new type of game...

I had a thought that sounded like the most profound thing while it was in my head but when explained to my lovely wife it sounded like the ramblings of a crazy hobo, so I will do my best to explain it here. I grew up in the 90's and as such I watched a ton of sitcoms and cartoons and throughout them there was a very noticeable trend. In any one of these shows the plot was pretty much always the same, everybody is fine- something happens- it gets fixed- everyone is fine- the end. Over and over I watched shows like this that made the same jokes and had the same mistakes as the last one. The only time they ever changed is when love was involved. Be it a new one boyfriend, like in Rosanne, or a new baby, such as Rugrats. After that the whole show would change dramatically for a bit, and while it would eventually become mundane again it would be forever a little different. Now think about all the games that have been big blockbusters recently and think about any one of those that have really changed the market or what we perceive to be a game. I can not think of one in recent history that has been anything different than what I have already played before. How do we change this you ask? If the 90's taught us anything its that for something to become fresh and new we need to put some love into it. I am not even sure what this means to do but we need some games that break up the trend of death and destruction being the staple of video games and bring some love and compassion into the games that is not just a story mechanic but the mechanic for the whole game and it apparent throughout its entirety. In a video on Gametrailers.com the creative director behind the new Devil May Cry look talked about disenfranchised youth and I agree, I have been pumped these game clones for so long I am ready for a change it what games are. While changing them into something other than guns and fists will not change the world it is a step in the right direction and a step I want to make.

Why do you hate me Scott Pilgrim?

Come one come all and see the magic of changing subjects and making it seem like the author is a hypocrite. I love the Scott Pilgrim game in spite of itself. I enjoy the music, the gameplay, the style, and that I get to play it with my wife. Sadly the co-op is where my first hangup of the game was, I was trying to play by myself at first and was getting beaten left and right and could only play with my wife, thanks to no online co-op. So when I started to play by myself I gamed as I thought I should and had with my wife, like a beat-em-up but that is a trick this game is not that, it is an RPG. But this game is also not a normal RPG where XP is the crutch upon which you lean, rather it is food and lots of it. If I can give any advice to someone playing this game it is to make your character a fat slob and eat everything you can afford because apparently nachos make you Zeus. Those ill thought out mechanics aside the game does a fantastic job of not loading correctly and more than once, Scott has turned into a stealthy ninja assassin where he nor the background music nor the enemies make any sound at all and the enemies cant seem to understand what is punching them so they stand there and just let the assault of fists happen. I am not sure if it is just my game that does this, but even with these problems I still love this game for what it is and its utterly profound take on young life, mainly how everyone looks alike save a color pallet swap. But it seems that despite how much I love this game it does not feel the same about me and this was made apparent from its consistent crashing of not just the game but my entire system which would subsequently have to be rebooted after every fourth load screen. And just as a kicked puppy would, I simply whimper my way through the XMB and seek affection from the one that kicked me. Damn you Scott Pilgrim, I just wish I knew how to quit you!

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep "review"

I have been playing through Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep recently and you probably already know that. What you do not know is that this is a really awesome game that is only held back from the limitations of the PSP itself, mainly the lack of a second analog stick. I have only played through with two of the characters and am working on the third but I am going to “review” it anyway. This this game takes advantage of several things I want more games to utilize, specifically the data install that is nearly one gigabyte and the ability to up the processor power from it allegedly locked state to a higher one. Combined these make the game run like butter on butter and I feel is the only way you should play the game. They also have a feature to change the color depth from 16-bit to 32-bit, I noticed no change at a glance with these options but I played with the 32-bit just to be sure I was getting the best. With all these things turned to their highest settings you will likely need to plug it in but this should not be a problem because you brain will be tricked by the graphics into thinking you are playing a PS2 game and so you will be used to sitting down with something plugged into what you are playing. While this game is awesome it does have its downfalls but they are few and far between. I felt it could have done a better job at explaining what I could do in the menus. I am almost done with this game with all three characters and I still do not understand which commands I can meld and which ones I cant and why very different abilities come from the shards I use in these combinations. I made it halfway through with my second character before I understood what the command styles were and how I might activate them. It also features ridiculous bosses that will bend you over and rape you and no matter how many times you press retry they will always be there to rape you again and again. My advice to “escape the rape” is to play this game on critical mode which is the hardest mode, at least then the enemies will seem on par with the bosses and you will not face a boss who is way to strong and can kill you with one hit. There is a lot of video game packed into this little disk and most of it is a lot of fun. The Mirage Arena is where you can join forces with your friends and take on baddies or just a good place to level grind, it has a lot of missions and challenges once you sink a few hours into it. One of the worlds in this game seems to be just a collection of mini games like a game where you shoot ice cream at ducks to a rhythmic pattern... and cart racing. Within the save menu and the arena you can access the “command board” which takes you to a game that is like a fast paced mash up of Monopoly and Mario Party where you can level up your abilities and ride square blocks. Plus all these games can be played by the three different characters and they do not share their record, this means that if you want to you can make this game last a very very long time. I should mention that these three characters play very differently and if you want to succeed you should make them fight within their strong point, do not make Aqua a berserker and do not make Terra a mage. If you have a PSP then you owe it to yourself to buy this game, if you do not own a PSP then why did you read this?

The Minecraft Trials

I was trying out Minecraft earlier this week because I know I want to buy it but I wanted to make sure it would work on my old computer. Turns out it does if I set all the specs to their lowest possible form and close down every other application. This was my first attempt to make anything in Minecraft.

If you could not tell that is supposed to be a penis in the wall. With this new found information about the art of penis making being a legit thing I went to buy it. At first everything on the paypal was Russian or something and I had no idea how to make it back to English. I did however know something about Spanish and so I changed the language to that and then found Estados Unedos under a selection and viola everything was no longer alien gibberish. Sadly this was to be the only success tonight. After struggling with the computer over what form of the number seven was acceptable I was brutally reminded that my card is not usable on anything based in California, Florida, or anywhere in the world pretty much. The sadness was great and so I went back and attempted again to make a blocky penis. It did not work...

I did however go underwater and made a cool box that I could live in because I can apparently breath underwater and am the Batman. The fail in the air however was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I will get Minecraft someday and Castle Penis shall be a work of art and envied by all.

And as for you Nintendo!

You know what I am pissed off about, the 3DS. Nintendo why do you keep doing this to me? When I had a GB Advance I played the hell out of it until the L and R buttons broke, then I bought a GB SP and played it until the L and R buttons broke. After that waste of money I bought the DS Handbreaker until guess what... the Land R buttons broke. Fast forward and I have bought every handheld since then and the same thing has happened. I refuse to get the XL because this amazing shit is coming out and I NEED it. Not because I particularly like the Nintendo systems but they have just enough exclusives in this crappy box that make me want to get them and because every time the warranty runs out on my old system the damn thing breaks on me and I am sick of this trend. To top all of this off why in the world did they think that ONE analog stick was a good idea. Did you not learn anything from Sony? The touch screen does not cut it as another stick it only sends rage through out my entire being. Anyone making portable games should know at this point that we need two analog sticks this goes for PSP, DS, and the iPhone. Do not give me some crappy input for your games because you know what, I will not play them. To add to that developers will not make anything for them either because they know that any control scheme they come up with will never compare to having two sticks and will kill an otherwise enjoyable experience. So screw you Nintendo, I will not buy your system until you come out with the 3DSXLiSuper64, unless of course you can make some good games for it like Megaman Legends 3 or Golden Sun... well shit...

In case that was not enough information I could spell this out for you. If you love games and enjoy seeing little children smile then you should do something with this thing called “Extra Life” which is a fund raiser for said children. Basically people play games for 24 hours straight and you pay or play with those people in order for them to raise money. ALL proceeds to to the children's miracle network which will in turn help children who are too sick to be smiling. It helps not only get them treatment but buys them new games and toys to help and distract them from the fact that they are sick and could die. Do not participate in this if you are Doctor Claw and hate children... you monster.

So I really liked the setup of my last blog, at least the part I am about to mimic here. I remember this game not just for being the first RPG I sunk several hundred hours into but one that I also re-bought more than twice. Everything in it is amazing to me but the real hook is the music. I have never heard an RPG, especially from Squarenix that has ever had such an amazing orchestral tracks.

And this song has taken over my life so I feel like I should spread the infection.

Podcast Corner

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and when I say a lot I mean like thirty to forty a week. My job is very repetitive and so I have to have something to listen to because Daft Punk becomes very repetitive after a while. Anyway while I would love to recommend something for you to listen to I am going to do the opposite and recommend something that you should stay away from. The Big O and Duke Show is a pebble in the shoe for my ear. Nothing good has come from the three podcasts I listened to from these guys and that is enough time to have given them a fair shot. They were apparently a big thing in Arizona or something and when they got canned they started their own podcast. Guys the reason you got fired is because you are NOT FUNNY. Its just a string of hick ramblings followed by Darth Vader and woody woodpecker sound effects. I would rather bang my head against the terminators crotch for the dragging hour this podcast takes to finally end than to listen to the idiots talk about fart noises one more time! Just take my advice as stay far away from this podcast, you would want no part of it.

Sleep is the enemy of a gaming blogger. I wish that I had the time and energy to write something every day but I am already staying up way too late trying to make my page “cool” and writing this post actually takes about two or three days. Plus sleep keeps me from doing my favorite pastime, gaming of course. As much as I try I cant seem to sink my teeth into Borderlands and my KH:BBS has been taunting me every day. Maybe by the time this actually gets posted I will have beaten BBS, probably not though. To be fair I have a full time job and a pregnant wife that take up a good chunk of my time so maybe I should not blame the blog-o-sphere. Maybe this is just a side effect of getting old but oh God in Heaven I hope not.

With all that complaining aside though its time to get down to brass tacks... who made up that saying? Anyway why does everyone hate Robin? I just do not get all the malice that people feel against this dude. Maybe my perception is off because the first Robin I ever saw was in the movie Batman Forever and so Jim Carey could have made him seem cool. This all stems from the news about Batman:AC and it having co-op with Cat woman. First off why the FUCK is there co-op!? This is a Batman game, I am The Batman, THE BATMAN, I can kill Superman why in the world do I need help from some S&M furry? If you are going to give me co-op then give me someone who will at least make me laugh, think Holy “insert cool bat-gear here” batman, ala Robin. I will agree that Robin is kinda lame but the whole thing is kinda lame if you ask me. The only way to make this idea of co-op in a detective action game is to just give me another Batman. But if that were to happen I think the disc would melt from the pure awesomeness inside it. Plus I do not think the world is ready for two Batmans... Batmens? Anyway if Batman thinks Robin is cool then so should we.

Remember last week when I raved about the Enslaved demo? Me neither but I am about to go off on a tirade anyway. http://enslaved.namco.com/order What the fucking fuck is this shit!? It seems like every time I turn around Game stop or Amazon are doing some pre-order offer about every damn thing. I do not want a powered up character or a billion dollars when I start the game, I want it to be the same all the way across the whole game and enjoy it the way it was meant to be played, not as some god character. I am playing this way in Borderlands and just selling the crap my friends give me because I deem it too powerful. Do not get me wrong I DO like pre-order bonuses but not when they change my game. I like the LBP 2 pre-order stuff for those very reasons, I get cool stuff and it does not change my game. Now that I think about it that would really suck for LBP2, if they were to split up the stuff in that game that mattered, “Amazon has magnetic switches but I really like GameStop's proximity switches,”I might just bust some vein in my brain. This whole race for the “exclusive” content by all the major retailers really gets underneath my skin. I want to get that cool shit no matter what place I order it from and I do not want it to interfere with my game.

So Minecraft, I hear amazing things about it and not just that game but lots of games that are PC only. It seems like just after Starcraft 2 that the PC has become relevant to the gaming community now. Now before you get all up in arms saying that the PC has always been the hardcore gamers choice do put into perspective the sales and success of the modern consoles and how hardcore MW2 sold on consoles compared to the PC ( you do not need citations right, did not think so) but the shift to consoles happened years ago. Either way I have been thinking more and more about changing and upgrading my setup for Civilization V, Starcraft 2, Minecraft, but mostly Amnesia. I want all these games but spending a few hundred bucks on a new rig is just not an option at this point, I already have to squeeze my pennies just to play anything anymore. So my proposal is... consoles! I want all these things on console and I think they could easily be done with the exception of Starcraft, and if developers really want to maximize their player base and profit then they need to start dong this across all platforms. Its not like Sony and Microsoft would not be happy to get these games on their system. Minecraft and Amnesia could be DLC and I would gladly pay fifteen for both. This may be all just a pipe dream but the truth is I am getting jealous of PCs today and I want some amazing DLC for my consoles... not Blade Kitten.

So with the “game season” just around the corner does anyone else feel the pressure or is it just me. It is probably just me because I am trying to write a good blog about games. Anyway it just seems like the gaming drought was almost non existent this year especially with game getting the length that the have these days. Running the risk of sounding like and old man, in my day games did not take you forty hours to get through the tutorial. I remember for Christmas one year I received Crash Bandicoot 2, several hours later I emerged from my basement cocoon to announce that I had beaten that game and wished for another. Needless to say my parents stopped buying me games after that I mowed a lot more lawns. It just seems as though there is too much to play and not enough time to do it in. Borderlands is taking a century and I have no commute time to play BBS. Plus when my last PS3 gave me the yellow middle finger I lost all my saves, including my seventy hour Demon's Souls in which I was barely half way through and have to start over from scratch! In the middle of all this I am a huge trophy whore and am in competition with my father over LBP to see who can platinum it first, my fifty something old dad is beating me in a game... this must be a nightmare. I would like to take this time to shamelessly plug my own LBP level, just search for Snickelsox under authors, and then add me as a friend because thats what cool people do. Anyway It just seems like there has been no break in the games we have been getting and I am afraid that a few gems are going to be lost in this glut and that is no good for anyone.

I keep hearing a lot about Dead Space 2 and the multiplayer, and I for one like this idea. First off its not team death match with Isaac vs Isaac vs Isaac, its not even Isaac vs Necromorph death match. Think Left 4 Dead but in the Dead Space world and totally lacking homosexual bikers and rednecks. I do not know about you but that sounds like a roaring good time already. The basics are you have to get from objective to objective all the while playing with four other Isaac clones and four other people are controlling some Necromorphs trying to stop you. While this is all well and good it brings out my true point of fuck you Sony! When I signed up for Playstation Plus I was promised beta access and I am sitting here now NOT playing the Dead Space 2 beta. What the shit Sony, why are you crapping on your hardcore fans? I realize that there are probably too many PSPlus member to hand out codes to but I am seeing non member playing... WHY!? Sony get your shit together because I am not the only one pissed off about this and all the other things you have not delivered to me yet. I am still “ in the black” when it comes to pure savings but stop giving me shit like Zen Pinball... and where is my cross game chat?

Well thats about all folks except for this one last thing. When I was in high school I wrote a ten page report on the history of video games ( obsessed I know) and I read several books and spent way too much time on Google. Anyway I wish that I had all the resources that exist now including the latest Retronaughts podcast which is about two and a half hours long featuring a TON of info on the NES and SNES that would have been useful in my report. Anyway since they are only doing another episode or two before they stop making podcast I suggest you listen to them if you like anything about video game history because they know their shit. Halo: Reach, another game with a hefty dose of DO NOT WANT attached to it but that I am still going to play anyway. My feelings over Halo in its entirety are very conflicted, on the one hand I have a FPS in space and on the other hand I have 12 year old Xbox live subscribers. I love the rush that comes from getting that flag and hoping that a warthog is waiting for me once I get out of the base but to be called a faggot about it really hurts my sensitive feelings. I hear tell though that you can start muting enough people now and make some setting changes to where I will only get in matches where the people are polite and give you high fives, I do not know about you but a virtual high five sounds great! Sounds like the campaign is a lot of fun too and in reality that is all I will really play since I cant bring myself to get a Live subscription. All in all this game leaves me feeling blasé and the next Halo better include time travel because that would be amazing. In the end, it Halo so I don't know if want.

You know what I think if a fan-fucking-tastic idea, Pokemon MMO. Its already been talked about a lot in the Pokemon community but I want to put in my two sense worth. Imagine a huge world filled with people from all over the world trying to best magical creatures, except this time its not WoW it is Pokemon. All the fans are there and it could even be rated E-10 or less so everyone could play and Nintendo could suck more money out of you. Honestly as much as I love this idea, it will probably never happen which makes it a less exciting topic to write about that I thought it would be. Whatever ideas you could come up with would be so much more amazing that the product would actually be... So send those ideas into Snickelsox@gmail.com and lets see what you can come up with.

Many gamers out there actually took the time to sit down and play ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, but I did not. I do not even have a good excuse for not playing them except that I was out of money, and as gamers we all know that is no excuse. Either way I am excited that I held off on playing these games for so long because now I can play them and get trophies, my excitement is too much for even bold to describe but its the best I can do. I have with a purpose tried to stay away from all story points and anyone talking about these games so that I could fully enjoy them when I finally got around to it. I remember a few years ago reading PSM, now OPM, and it saying that SotC was amazing but would have been more amazing on the PS3 and that time is now. Now if they would just get around to making The Last Guardian. Which brings up another quick point, the main character is a boy, so what, I though he was from the beginning. If no one had told you any different would you have been so upset? Developers use the gender thing as a way to get more sales. Want proof? Imagine the Tomb Raider series with a man instead... and on that note I think I'm going to vomit.

I want the Playstation move, I want it very badly. I have not idea why I want this thing, I will probably never play it but a few days ago I had to choose between it and shoes that do not have holes in them, my wife made that decision for me. I no longer have cold feet but I feel like I gave up some of my soul that day, trading fun for comfort. I remember a time when I decided not to eat for a day or so just to play COD4, but those days have passed. A forgotten time of a bygone era of fun and enchantment. Which brings me around to the PS Move again and my thoughts on it. I am sure everyone remembers the Wii and all the promises it made to us all and like suckers we believed them and now my Wii sits there doing what it does best, collects dust. I am almost certain that again I will be disappointed but maybe, just maybe it will not disappoint me. For the same reasons I waned the Wii to succeed I want the PS move to work. Its not so much what is already out on the market, I can not stomp on Eye Pet and so the only thing that allures me to this device is ethereal ideas about things that do not exist yet such as a Demon's Souls remake, patch, sequel, or anything really. I want to play this game Kings Quest style. That is to say I want Demon's Souls in FPS format. Even if I have to buy two Move controllers I will.

So Playstation Plus, the butt of every joke involving the PS network these days. I want this to be cool, I really do but Playstation get off your fat asses and make it cool. As a member why did I have to pay for Castle Crashers. Trust me as much as you want to sell this... thing to your newcomers it is not happening. The only people who want PSPlus are your hardcore fans and we already have all this crap. Granted I was paid back in full by the third month but not by the things I really wanted. Wipeout HD is like a data paperweight in my system, it looks cool but I do not want to play that thing. I want The Guardian of Light for free when it comes out, not an advanced demo! I do not expect every new game that comes out to be free but if you want people to jump on this bandwagon then give people a reason to. The discounts are a good start and the minis are so-so but I want some full fledged games that are not three years old. Give me a hot new release every few months and you can bet people will be on this thing the next day. I am angry Sony, but I love you and I will wait for you. Oh and please give me cross game chat and fix the auto download because that shit does not work at all.

What is with all the Duke Nukem hate that is floating around these days. It seems that everywhere you turn its “ Hey Duke... FUCK YOU.” I for one just do not get it. Duke 3D and minesweeper were the only games of interest on my old PC and I logged more hours that I can remember into just the single player. I even bought the 360 version and if that machine gave me any reason to turn it on I might play more there, but even a few weeks ago I installed to my laptop and played nothing else. Maybe nostalgia is what is selling me on DNF but I like to think its because I remember what a bad ass game DN3D was that I expect all the lives over at 3Drealms will have not been wasted in vain. In the end I will always bet on Duke and you should too.

This is my first blog and while pointing that out make me seem very unprofessional I feel it is needed to explain what I am going after. I'm an average Jo gamer, maybe I'm a hardcore gamer, maybe I'm not, I do stay away from the Halos but I guess it all depends on you definition so I will let you decide. My plan is to make this blog a place focused on community, news I think is noteworthy, and the downtrodden. Kinda like a gaming superhero but my pecks aren't impressive. What I mean by all that is if a game is getting flack for no reason, such as Duke, or say something you made ,like a LBP level, is not getting the attention it deserves then I will step in with my mighty keyboard and do something about it, or blog about it as it were. Remember that this is going to be a ever changing and ever evolving place so if you have an idea let me know, I am definitely open to suggestions.

That being said this is not the place to come for breaking news. I am not IGN or Kotaku, I am just a guy talking about the games that interest me and might interest you. Such as Final Fantasy Dissida 2, which hopefully will be a more balanced game and feature more characters. I for one would love to see anyone else from the FF7 universe besides the sexually confused Cloud and Sephiroth. A cool possibility would be Barret, then they could pull a Smash Bros an make Dyne as well without much trouble. And maybe some class from FF Tactics, or better yet all the classes rolled into a make your own character that could develop into whatever playing style met your style. That is probably too ambitious of an idea but it would make a much better game. Are you reading this unknown blog Square Enix? Probably not...

Next on my invisible agenda is COD:Black Ops the game that people are crapping themselves over everywhere I turn. OK yeah its COD, and yeah Treyarch is making it, and yeah it looks fun but damn it can we stop caring yet? I played both games and sunk many hours into the multi-player, in fact that was the ONLY reason I bought COD4. But at this point though I am more excited about Pokemon Black and White than this game though. Let me tell you exactly how the game is going to play out, your going to press L2 or LT and then R2 or RT respectively for four to seven hours and maybe you will get on rails and shoot things from the sky. This time you might be an astronaut again but with a giant lazer beam... that actually sounds cool, but my main point remains its a bunch of aim, shoot, rinse, repeat. This formula will go on and on until you break it up by stabbing a guy. Do not misunderstand me though I will play this game and I will probably enjoy it, until I hit multi-player and am called a racist faggot Jew by some squeaky twelve year old. As hipster as it sounds, I stopped playing COD because it was cool... before it was cool.

Last on my list of things pulled out of my ass is Little Big Planet 2 having PS Move support, holy butts I am excited about this. If you have spent any time working with the LBP creation tools you have probably realized that the interface is not exactly what it should be. I have actually fantasized about using a mouse and keyboard but this seems like its gonna be amazing. Here is hoping that there is a paint tool, if so the level of detail and amazingness in each level should greatly improve... or the dicks will become more detailed but either way is gonna be awesome.

Following a formula that I'm still making up now is about time for me to talk about some cool things that are happening on the web and whatnot. Starting with the game that subway is running right now. You can head over to subwayfreshbuzz.com to enter. Its real easy and even though you not supposed to you can use as many e-mail accounts as you want. Just Google something like “subway codes” and you should find a huge list of usable codes that can be used by each account once. You will not win anything the first day but so far I have two codes to Hellboy and one to Loco Roco 2. I should mention that this is only for Playstation stuff and that its only in the U.S. But if you just crazy enough and over the pond you could probably pull off having a friend mail it to you if you win something other than a code. Just keep at it and enter a few a day and you should get something, hurry quick though before they get wise!

Lastly, I hope, I have been playing a lot of Borderlands and Kingdom Hearts:BBS recently. I understand now why everyone was raving about Borderlands, you can get very lost in that place. I am not very far in and I still find myself just exploring and shooting things. If you want bang for your buck then buy this game now since its sorta on the cheap. As for KH:BBS its a kingdom hearts game and if you like that stuff, which I do very much, then you will enjoy it. I am still not through it yet bet I can tell you that Terra's campaign gets pretty easy to guess early on but its not just about him, and I suggest you play as all three characters as they play very different and provide a lot of hours of enjoyment. Play the game on hard though because it makes all the battles just that more rewarding.
