Veterans Day, with reverence and respect for
all Victims of War

I believe that our country and many others, are far too cavalier about the expenditure of it's human capital. My experience of the military during the Viet Nam War, and my knowledge of history, taught me that while many seek to serve honorably, there is no honor to be found, serving Imperial Needs.

There is a reason, I think that many recruits must be RE-PROGRAMMED to make murder acceptable. Even murder to protect their brothers and sisters, under arms, and their homes and families, there is something beautiful about the fact that even in the heat of battle, many are fully aware, that the people, they have been ordered to kill, are people just like themselves, with mothers, and children and sweethearts, just like themselves.

I know too much about genocide, too much about the means and purposes of war, to glorify war, and I feel sympathy, and support for those who under noble banners, were sent too casually to do murder for the Oligarchs and Plutocrats.

I never blame the average soldier, I honor, their sacrifice, without providing any sanction to the inhuman ghouls, that set-them to kill, and occupy the lands and natural resources, of others. The history of the centuries of casual warfare, drenched in the blood of young men and women, is a sorry affair, and a fit subject for mourning and reflection. I would happier, celebrate Native American Day, or Emancipation Day, than celebrate the work of war, and its victims, on every side.

The reason for the pomp, and the uniforms, is to make each soldier part of a non-individualized machine, and thus not-responsible for the mayhem, he or she has wreaked. I do not say this, to denigrate, individual valor, or the honor of the sacrifice many have made to protect their fellows. That sacrifice was given from the best part. But there is no glory in blood lust, there is no glory in genocide, and there is nothing of the last century of war, that was intrinsically valueless, except to the merchants of death.

Celebrate victims, day, I'm with you. Celebrate landmine and napalm victims day, I'm there. I cannot celebrate, the glories of War day. Whether they were the poor men and women SENT and RESENT to Kill and Destroy, to improve access to pipelines, and minerals, and geo-political brinksmanship or the humble faceless victims, who die 50,000 feet under our bombs and missiles. I think of the poor Iraqi, under the bright night of Shock and Awe and I shudder with revulsion, at anything other than a desire to make sure those whose lives were so casually mis-spent could be made whole, paid for by the soulless death manufacturers who profited from RUMSFELD CHENEY DEATH investment plan.

You know as do I, there are no SERIOUS plan in play to make these men and women whole, you know, the country's commitment to mental health and physical care, is an illusion. Set down the flags America, make sure these damaged men and women and their long suffering families are made whole. [There is no honest commitment by our country to do that] And as we see from scandal to scandal the real enthusiasm and focus is to repair them just enough so their lives can continue to be used to destroy this weeks enemy. WAR ON TERROR? War on Humanity, with one motive, the profit motive. And the real costs regarding the wastage of human lives, never shows up on the spreadsheet, but is written in the living flesh of families. here and abroad.

I feel pity for those mesmerized by war fever, and believe if we had a society with any "justice compass" the War Criminals who still ride in limousines, paid for with the blood of Iraqis, Yemenis, Iranians, Columbians, Venezuelans, etc, etc, etc. Oh yes and all those victimized soldiers, from every sides. Whether pushing buttons to launch a drone, or bursting into a home, and strafing the inhabitants, or just walking down a dusty street, where some would-be (anti-occupationist) has planted an improvised explosive. They are serving the wrong mission. And the sickness that visits the heart, comes from the certain knowledge that what they have seen and done, under all the banners, and beyond the best propaganda money can buy, is simply inhumane.

0. Former Japan Ambassador Warns Gov’t Committee: “A global catastrophe like we have never before experienced” if No. 4 collapses — Common Spent Fuel Pool with 6,375 fuel rods in jeopardy — “Would affect us all for centuries”

Japan’s former Ambassador to Switzerland, Mr. Mitsuhei Murata, was invited to speak at the Public Hearing of the Budgetary Committee of the House of Councilors on March 22, 2012, on the Fukushima nuclear power plants accident. Before the Committee, Ambassador Murata strongly stated that if the crippled building of reactor unit 4—with 1,535 fuel rods in the spent fuel pool 100 feet (30 meters) above the ground—collapses, not only will it cause a shutdown of all six reactors but will also affect the common spent fuel pool containing 6,375 fuel rods, located some 50 meters from reactor 4. In both cases the radioactive rods are not protected by a containment vessel; dangerously, they are open to the air. This would certainly cause a global catastrophe like we have never before experienced. He stressed that the responsibility of Japan to the rest of the world is immeasurable. Such a catastrophe would affect us all for centuries. Ambassador Murata informed us that the total numbers of the spent fuel rods at the Fukushima Daiichi site excluding the rods in the pressure vessel is 11,421

Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat whose state, Oregon, could lie in the path of any new radioactive plumes and who has studied nuclear waste issues, is among those pushing for faster action. After his recent visit to the ravaged plant, Senator Wyden said the pool at No. 4 poses “an extraordinary and continuing risk” and the retrieval of spent fuel “should be a priority given the possibility of further earthquakes.”

1. A key Senate panel voted Tuesday to extend a contested 2008 provision of foreign intelligence surveillance law that is set to expire at year’s end.
The vote is the first step toward what the Obama administration hopes will be a speedy renewal of an expanded authority under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to monitor the U.S. e-mails and phone calls of overseas targets in an effort to prevent international terrorist attacks on the country [...]
The measure in question enables authorities to collect electronic communications in the United States without a specific warrant for each person as long as a surveillance court signs off on the targeting procedures as “reasonably designed” to ensure that those targeted are outside the United States.

2. Emergency Alert from the South Florida Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild

Within the past 48 hours, activists in south Florida have been visited by agents of local and Federal law enforcement agencies trying to obtain information on three young men arrested in Chicago this past weekend.

If you are visited by one or more of these agents, here is a basic response you can take:

1) Do not let the agents in your home without a valid warrant.   Go outside to them, do not let them inside your home.

2) Do not leave the premises of your home to accompany law enforcement officers to another location.

3) Get the names of the agents that visit you, as well as the name of the department or agency employing them.

4) When the agents ask for information, say "I wish to remain silent" and "I want to speak to an attorney."    That is all you need to tell the agents.

Also, be careful about speaking with others, including the press, about people who have been arrested.   The same caution should be used in posting comments to listserves and social media, including but not limited to Facebook and Twitter, as these sites are monitored by law enforcement agencies. Police may use your statements to investigate and/or prosecute you or as evidence against others.

3. Muzzling Canadian Scientists
The allegation of "muzzling" came up at a session of the AAAS meeting to discuss the impact of a media protocol introduced by the Conservative government shortly after it was elected in 2008.
The protocol requires that all interview requests for scientists employed by the government must first be cleared by officials. A decision as to whether to allow the interview can take several days, which can prevent government scientists commenting on breaking news stories.
Sources say that requests are often refused and when interviews are granted, government media relations officials can and do ask for written questions to be submitted in advance and elect to sit in on the interview.

'Orwellian' approach
Andrew Weaver, an environmental scientist at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, described the protocol as "Orwellian".

The protocol states: "Just as we have one department we should have one voice. Interviews sometimes present surprises to ministers and senior management. Professor Weaver said that information is so tightly controlled that the public is "left in the dark".

There’s no denying the need for improvement. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 48 million people suffered from food-borne illnesses in this country last year; 128,000 of them were so sick that they needed hospitalization. Three thousand people died.
Last fall, for example, 38 Missourians and nine Illinoisans were among 58 people who fell ill from E. coli contamination linked to tainted romaine lettuce from salad bars at nine Schnucks stores. The contamination was traced to a farm that grew the lettuce.

WASHINGTON — US rights activists Friday condemned a lack of disclosure in the case against WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning, saying there was even less transparency than proceedings against the alleged September 11 attackers. A coalition headed by the Center for Constitutional Rights filed a petition asking the US Army to order the judge in Manning's court martial to allow access to government papers, court orders and transcripts of proceedings, "none of which have been made public to date."
Manning, whose trial is scheduled to start on September 21, is accused of "aiding the enemy" and dozens of other charges over his alleged leaking of documents to the site -- a charge that carries a potential life sentence.
Manning allegedly leaked hundreds of thousands of military logs from Iraq and Afghanistan and US diplomatic cables to WikiLeaks between November 2009 and May 2010, when he served as a low-ranking intelligence analyst in Iraq. But the lack of access to legal documents in Manning's case amounts to "denial of the public's First Amendment rights," and "is clearly erroneous and amounts to an usurpation of authority," the campaigners' petition said.
"The contrast with the degree of public access provided for in the military commissions under way at Guantanamo is striking," it said.
"Courtroom proceedings at Guantanamo are open to public observers and also available for live viewing domestically via closed circuit television.
"Transcripts of these courtroom proceedings are posted in a time frame comparable to that provided for high-profile criminal trials," it added.
Manning, 24, last month faced pre-trial hearings at Fort Meade military base in Maryland, near the US capital. Earlier proceedings against him at the same base in December 2011 were conducted "largely outside the public view," those who signed Friday's petition said.

8. Alan Simpson Unleashes Outrageous Attack on California Alliance Seniors
When former Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY), co-chair of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, ran into California Alliance (CARA) seniors in March, they let him know that they do not support his ideas for addressing the national debt. The activists picketed his appearance in Oakland, where he was trying to grow support for his recommendations. They also passed out a flyer that drew attention to how Simpson’s policies would affect those who are now young. In particular, they called him out on his plan to cut guaranteed Social Security benefits by raising the retirement age and lowering cost-of-living adjustments.

Simpson later went home to Wyoming and wrote a letter responding to the protesters, and he mailed it to CARA last week. By this Wednesday, that letter had gained national attention in publications including Politico (http://politi.co/Jd39BJ), The Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post. In the shocking correspondence, Simpson exploded with accusations, saying to CARA:
•    “You use the faces of young people, who are the ones who are going to get gutted while you continue to push out your blather and drivel,”
•    “What a wretched group of seniors you must be to use the faces of the very people that we are trying to save, while the ‘greedy geezers’ like you use them as a tool and a front for your nefarious bunch of crap,”
•    “You must feel some sense of shame for shoveling out this bull****.”

Edward F. Coyle, Executive Director of the Alliance, said in response, “Sen. Simpson’s letter was not just inappropriate and unbecoming a co-chairman of a White House Commission, but also wrong on the facts. The cuts that he has recommended are an attack on all Americans who want a secure retirement. His ideas would indeed sentence our children to an impoverished old age.”

CARA President Nan Brasmer told Politico, “Alan Simpson’s mean-spirited comments insult the intelligence and dedication of retiree activists who worry about their children and grandchildren’s future. Sen. Simpson sounds an awful lot like Mitt Romney and others who will use the recent Social Security Trustees report as political cover for their radical changes. They would put seniors at risk while enriching Wall Street and the big health insurance companies. For instance, increasing the retirement age - one of their suggestions - would be extremely unfair to workers, particularly those in blue-collar and service sector jobs. And privatizing Social Security would let Wall Street firms profit while gambling workers’ Social Security savings on the roulette wheel of the stock market.”

A senior Homeland Security official told the Huffington Post that the manual 'is a starting point, not the endgame' in maintaining situational awareness of natural and man-made threats and denied that the government was monitoring signs of dissent.
However the agency admitted that the language used was vague and in need of updating.
Spokesman Matthew Chandler told website: 'To ensure clarity, as part of ... routine compliance review, DHS will review the language contained in all materials to clearly and accurately convey the parameters and intention of the program.'

Remember when police beat Tea Party activists with batons, raided homes without warrants, unjustly arrested and strip-searched Tea Party protesters, or attacked and intimidated journalists covering Tea Party rallies?
Me neither. But then again, the Tea Party took to the streets in favor of higher profits and less regulations for the richest 1 percent, whose ranks they hope to but will never join. The media is more than happy to inflate their crowd estimates, and police are more than happy to let pro-status quo protests take to the streets undisturbed. The Tea Party has since phased out street protests to take over a major political party and make it bend to their every radical whim.
While it hasn't yet taken over a major party, the Occupy movement has successfully exposed the oppressive fascist police state that has reared its ugly head in the past year. If you want to see what tyranny looks like, consider what happened to the estimated 75,000 protesters who took on the military-industrial complex at last weekend’s NATO summit in Chicago, after the mayor revoked protesters' attempts to lawfully assemble.
-A night before protests even begun, the Chicago Police Department raided an activist’s home and arrested several on unproven allegations of terrorist activity, all without a valid warrant.
-At the front of a police line surrounding a NATO gathering, police suddenly start beating unarmed protesters with batons in an eerie video resembling police at Egypt’s Tahrir Square.
-While covering the protests, credentialed journalists are attacked by police who use bicycles as weapons.
-After a day of covering the protests, three livestreamers are surrounded by Chicago police at gunpoint and have their car and property impounded without cause.
But the oppression isn’t coming from just the police. The federal government is now openly embracing totalitarian tactics in suppressing political dissent, including unwarranted surveillance, denial of due process rights, and even psychological warfare:
-FBI agents pressured a group of anarchists in Ohio to blow up a bridge on May Day, going so far as to pick out a target and provide the explosives. They were held without bond after their arrest. White supremacists in Florida planning an actual terrorist attack at a May Day protest were outed by state police, and ignored by federal law enforcement. Their bond was set at $500.
-The Department of Homeland Security assembled almost 800 pages of documents detailing possibly unconstitutional monitoring of the Occupy movement, and collaboration with city governments.
-Congress voted down an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would have prohibited the federal government from detaining American citizens indefinitely, without trial, based on pure suspicion. They did so exactly one day after US District Judge Katherine Forrest struck down NDAA detention provisions as unconstitutional. Congress also passed a law allowing protesters to be arrested on felony charges anywhere where there is secret service protection, and is actively seeking to lift a ban on the use of propaganda on American citizens.

12. Fukushima
“Decontamination can be really effective, [but] what you have is a tradeoff between dose reduction and environmental impact,” says Kathryn Higley, a radioecologist at Oregon State University who has studied several decontamination sites in the United States. That’s because the radioactive particles the Japanese are trying to get rid of can be quite “sticky.” Removing them without removing large amounts of soil, leaves, and living plants is nearly impossible. The Ministry of Environment estimates that Fukushima will have to dispose of 15 to 31 million cubic meters of contaminated soil and debris by the time the decontamination projects end. Costs are predicted to exceed a trillion yen.

Given these drawbacks, an International Atomic Energy Agency factfinding mission advised the Japanese authorities to “avoid overconservatism” in their decontamination plans — in other words, not to clean up more than necessary to protect human health. Yet the health impacts of long-term exposure to low levels of radiation are not entirely clear. Many scientists believe exposure to even very low levels can slightly increase cancer risk, and many Fukushima residents feel they should not be forced to live with that risk — or the undercurrent of fear it brings.

But while the political debate over how much to clean up rages on, more practical preparations are already underway. On a frigid afternoon last
month, about 160 workers wearing papery white jumpsuits and hot pink respirators filed up a winding road into a farming hamlet in Kawamata
Town, about an hour southeast of Fukushima and just inside the evacuation zone. Were it not for the bright blue plastic sheets, heavy-duty
leaf vacuums, cranes, and trucks scattered everywhere, the village would have been picturesque. Now, the intricacy of the landscape — its tiny rice
paddies, bamboo groves, woodlots, streams, and earth-walled barns — was adding to the challenges of decontamination.

13. Fukushima B
Former Fukushima Daiichi Worker: TEPCO screwed up by admitting it’s preparared to spray concrete on spent fuel — “They are really admitting they know that it might collapse!”
If the building is standing they can spray water on the pool and maintain some kind of cooling, enough to get by, especially now that the pool is cooler than 14 months ago.

The concrete mixture idea can only be in response to a fuel pool collapse. So they are really admitting they know that it might collapse!! It is a completely crazy idea, those who have said the building would collapse if sprayed [with concrete-like mixture] in a standing pool are correct. But the idea was only generated if the building falls down on the ground. Then this idea might be better than doing nothing with fuel laying on the ground because it would slow the release of radioactive material. But it would mean that this pile would forever be dangerous and some releases would continue for years.
What a “Hail Mary” this is. TEPCO screwed up by admitting this, there have been several stories the last few days that are illuminating much more.
There are several reasons why I believe the country will be evacuated if the #4 SFP collapses. The amount of radioactive material in the fuel pool dwarfs the total amount at Chernobyl by a factor of 5 to 10. Chernobyl’s core was still mostly contained in a building (although heavily damaged), and most of the radioactive material melted downward and became lava like. If #4 SFP collapses it will be lying on the completely open ground, probably going critical on and off in portions of the pile for years. The dose rate from this pile will make dropping sand or anything from the air much more lethal than anything at Chernobyl. And probably impossible. The entire site at Fukushima will be uninhabitable and unworkable because of the dose rate coming from this pile of fuel. That means there will be no control of the other fuel pools, and we could lose control of them.

Nuclear experts will soft sell the ramifications because that is how the industry works. When the experts “have concerns” about the situation at #4 that means they are pooping their pants.
My experience at Fukushima was 30 years ago. I worked in the industry for about 15 years as a health physics technician. I was also referred to as a “nuclear gypsy” because I traveled from plant to plant working outages. That meant I was always in the middle of the hottest jobs in the heart of the plant. The engineers will talk about this part or that part of a plant, but I have been all those places wearing full gear.

14. A four-alarm fire was still burning aboard the USS Miami nuclear-powered submarine Wednesday night at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, more than four hours after it began, according to the yard’s commander. Residents in some parts of Kittery reported a small of burning plastic in the air, and sirens from fire apparatus were heard throughout the night.

A fire on aboard a Groton, Conn.-based nuclear-powered submarine has injured four people at a Maine shipyard, officials there said.
The nuclear reactor on the USS Miami SSN 755 wasn't operating at the time and was unaffected, officials said. Nonessential personnel were removed from the sub, over which black smoke was billowing.
Fire crews responded Wednesday to the USS Miami at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, located on an island in the small town of Kittery near Portsmouth, N.H.
The shipyard said four injured people have been treated and released. The Portsmouth Herald newspaper said firefighters were injured.

15. Head Researcher: Boulder, Colorado a “hot spot” for Fukushima fallout — None of their other US or Canadian samples came close to Boulder’s contamination, except Portland which was even higher
My group measured soil, air filter and dust samples from Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia. This particular soil sample, with 8 pCi/g of radiocesium, was our highest North American result. It came from a site on the outskirts of Portland, OR. The next highest result came from a site near Boulder, CO. Except for followup samples near these two sites, no other US or Canadian samples came close to the levels of radiocesium in these “hot spots.” Given the nature of radioactive fallout, this is an expected result. Both hot spots are likely due to rainouts that took place during March or April 2011. A recent study by the USGS, “Fission Products in National Atmospheric Deposition Program—Wet Deposition Samples Prior to and Following the Fukushima Dai-Ichi Nuclear Power Plant Incident, March 8–April 5, 2011″, found remarkably similar results. The USGS study was more detailed, (and more with a much bigger budget), and found evidence of rainouts at Portland and Boulder. When you collect a lot of samples, some are bound to be much higher than the average.

16. (NaturalNews) The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to release new data showing that various milk and water supply samples from across the US are testing increasingly high for radioactive elements such as Iodine-131, Cesium-134, and Cesium-137, all of which are being emitted from the ongoing Fukushima Daiichia nuclear fallout. As of April 10, 2011, 23 US water supplies have tested positive for radioactive Iodine-131 (http://opendata.socrata.com/w/4ig7-9eqd/y34g-bnf3?cur=TgjW3mRumyl&fro...), and worst of all, milk samples from at least three US locations have tested positive for Iodine-131 at levels exceeding EPA maximum containment levels (MCL) (http://opendata.socrata.com/w/pkfj-5jsd/y34g-bnf3?cur=w_bE5ToS3hx&fro...), and in once case more than 2000 percent higher than MCL, cumulatively.

As far as the water supplies are concerned, it is important to note that the EPA is only testing for radioactive Iodine-131. There are no readings or data available for cesium, uranium, or plutonium -- all of which are being continuously emitted from Fukushima, as far as we know -- even though these elements are all much more deadly than Iodine-131. Even so, the following water supplies have thus far tested positive for Iodine-131, with the dates they were collected in parenthesis to the right:

Again, these figures do not include the other radioactive elements being spread by Fukushima, so there is no telling what the actual cumulative radiation levels really were in these samples. The figures were also taken two weeks ago, and were only just recently reported. If current samples were taken at even more cities, and if the tests conducted included the many other radioactive elements besides Iodine-131, actual contamination levels would likely be frighteningly higher.

But in typical government fashion, the EPA still insists that everything is just fine, even though an increasing amount of US water supplies are turning up positive for even just the radioactive elements for which the agency is testing -- and these levels seem to be increasing as a direct result of the situation at the Fukushima plant, which continues to worsen with no end in sight (http://www.naturalnews.com/032035_Fukushima_physics.html).

Water may be the least of our problems, however. New EPA data just released on Sunday shows that at least three different milk samples -- all from different parts of the US -- have tested positive for radioactive Iodine-131 at levels that exceed the EPA maximum thresholds for safety, which is currently set at 3.0 pico Curies per Liter (pCi/l).

In Phoenix, Ariz., a milk sample taken on March 28, 2011, tested at 3.2 pCi/l. In Little Rock, Ark., a milk sample taken on March 30, 2011, tested at 8.9 pCi/l, which is almost three times the EPA limit. And in Hilo, Hawaii, a milk sample collected on April 4, 2011, tested at 18 pCi/l, a level six times the EPA maximum safety threshold. Why is this milk contamination significant? Milk, of course, typically represents the overall condition of the food chain because cows consume grass and are exposed to the same elements as food crops and water supplies. In other words, when cows' milk starts testing positive for high levels of radioactive elements, this is indicative of radioactive contamination of the entire food supply.

And even with the milk samples, the EPA insanely says not to worry as its 3.0 pCi/l threshold is allegedly only for long-term exposure. But the sad fact of the matter is that the Fukushima situation is already a long-term situation. Not only does it appear that the Fukushima reactor cores are continuing to melt, since conditions at the plant have not gotten any better since the earthquake and tsunami, but many of the radioactive elements that have already been released in previous weeks have long half lives, and have spread halfway around the world.

The other problem with the EPA's empty reassurances that radiation levels are too low to have a negative impact on humans is the fact that the agency does not even have an accurate grasp on the actual aggregate exposure to radiation from all sources (water, food, air, rain, etc.). When you combine perpetual exposure from multiple sources with just the figures that have already been released, there is a very real threat of serious harm as a result of exposure.

The EPA and other government agencies are constantly comparing Fukushima radiation to background and airplane radiation in an attempt to minimize the severity of exposure, even though these are two completely different kinds of radiation exposure.

Is Progressivism the New Communism?

When the schoolyard bully tries to pick a fight, first he tries name calling. Progressives from the beginning supported the overthrow of monarchies, they fought and died for democratic self government. Progressives opposed slavery, and supported women's right to vote. If you think that's a COMMUNIST PLOT, go ask your wife.

Progressive fought to end cozy crony governments and instead worked to professionalize government. One of the first battles modern progressives fought was to establish the direct election of U.S. Senators. Progressives teamed up with Women Rights Advocates and Labor Organizers and together opposed child labor and fought for compulsory free public education for all children. Progressives at the turn of the century were more concerned with citizen participation and access than in a Marxian economic critique. So, no, Progressivism, new or old, has nothing to do with either the theories or the failed practices associated with Communism.

Progressives favor more democracy, more participation for citizens not less. They never concocted rules to make voting harder for citizens. Turn of the century progressives fought to expand and empower citizens. They began a national movement that called for "Initiative, Referendum and Recall." All of which created more not less public input in political decisions. The recall referendum of Wisconsin's Governor Walker would not have been possible without the reforms of the Progressive movement.

This desire for citizen empowerment is the opposite of the despotic overreach of the tyrant. Fear-mongers resort to the crayon of heated language with their schoolyard taunts since they have no facts. Fifties era charges of “commie” are absurd when the historic record is examined. Today's Occupy Movement is one example of the progressive spirit; the call to end Wall Street's speculative madness is another. Somehow, none of these contemporary Robber Barons have seen an indictment for their massive frauds. Progressivism, still stands against the abuses of the powerful, and shares nothing with the ideology of the tyrant.

Progressives spoke then and now, for the poor, and the factory worker, not the gold-plated billionaire. “Minimum wage”, “weekends” and “vacations” are all the product of progressive principals. All of these were systematically opposed by Conservatives, some of whom are still trying to privatize Social Security. When Upton Sinclair wrote his seminal book “The Jungle” detailing the disgusting conditions in the meat packing industry, the result a public outcry and national food safety regulations. (No doubt dampening the verve of the marketplace.) Sinclair and other “Muckrakers” criticized free range Darwinian Corporatism and Americans demanded regulations.

Who opposes regulation today and why? If your pregnant wife was given thalidomide by a pharmaceutical company who knew the results would be disastrous, would you prefer they be unencumbered by any responsibilities? Maybe we should complete Reagan's airline deregulation? Lets go totally laissez-faire on airline regulations right? Or are you too squeamish for that. Why should pilots even be licensed? doesn't that impose terrible costs on airlines, they only promised you a seat, not a safe flight right. Who needs mandated maintenance?

Often I find, that people who bemoan the burdens laid upon corporations, seem to have forgotten under what conditions their grandfathers worked. When you take your next pill, would you rather the corporation that manufactured the medicine observed stringent safety guidelines? One man's prudent quality control is another man's brutal governmental regulation.

When we look at the products of progressive reform, from the end of child labor, to a regulated food and drug industry, it is difficult to see any connection between these tremendous achievements of citizen empowerment and the economic theories of Marx and Engels or the genocidal practices of Stalin.

Considering, that most of us, learn compassion, at the feet of our mothers, I can only conclude that the "small government" zealots, were outside tearing wings off flies, while the rest of us learned how to play nice with others.

That these legislators, who loudly proclaim, they want a less invasive government somehow fail to see the hypocrisy, of getting government off our backs and shrinking government down so they can insert it between a woman's legs and even inside her reproductive choices.

They cannot stop abortions, they can't physically beat women, so they resort to placing economic barriers and delays and the judgement of politicians ahead of the judgement of citizens, who just happen to be women.

What utter lack of respect, for women, for mothers, for sisters and indeed for their own precious daughters. These are not "would-be protectors" these are bullies, who make rules that do not apply to themselves.

Where is the "fair play"? Hold your religion, and cherish it, live it, teach it's values to your children. BUT FREEDOM of RELIGION also means, don't attempt to enforce your religious rules on others who do not believe as you do.

Government so small, you can forcibly insert it into a woman's vagina? That is not the right to freedom of religion. That is simply wrong.

When whistleblowers in this or any country who uncover MISDEEDS are treated as Mr Manning has been treated, by our government (which is us) We must say NO!

The president, a "constitutional scholar" and "Nobel Peace Prize Winner" offered an opinion that his (Bradley Manning's) treatment was fair, and then without benefit of a trial, suggested that he was guilty - We still have the right to a trial. We must oppose, we must stand in solidarity in opposition to torture in opposition to illegal warfare.

And while technically you have a point, we are not the starving sleeping in the streets, we are not the homeless, who have been criminalized, we are not the people of compassion who tried to feed them and are also criminalized.

But, if we don't stand with them. If we fail to understand the power of SOLIDARITY. Then leftist, rightist, republican or democrat alike we will all be subject to totalitarian excess. If we refuse to oppose government misdeeds if we ignore the end of HABEAS CORPUS, then we are all in jeopardy.

The black holes, the torture, the waterboarding, the censorship, the crippling immorality - If we do not stand together and oppose Mr. Mannings treatment, then we are assisting the slide into a New Dark Ages. And woe indeed is anyone who then dares to oppose the REGIME, the OPPRESSION, the EXCESSES.

Speculation is rampant, the price increases are padding the NON-TAXED bottom line of oil companies, who not only have reaped record profits for decades, with no commitment to either cleaning up the mess that they make and then dump on the poorest of the poor. But, incase you didn't notice, they have despoiled the Gulf of Mexico and the coast of Alaska. BP by the way got away without cleaning up their act again and again. And in terms of cleaning up and making it right - AIN'T NOBODY HOME!

So when you asked about increasing their taxes - I thought that was a funny statement. I suppose - I should laugh, since the not only pay ZERO TAX, but also get a TAXPAYER FUNDED subsidy? You Like THAT?

How can you even talk about energy policy when you've done NOTHING as a "political leader" to further a nonpolluting source of renewable energy, here in what the TOURIST BROCHURES call the Sunshine State. When will we start putting the SUBSIDIES into renewable energy that we have wasted on petroleum and nuclear power for nearly half a century.

I'm puzzled, if your interested in Energy Policy, or International Security - HOW COULD YOU NOT be an advocate of a wiser energy strategy?

Curious where is your advocacy since we've known since the 1920s that the Oil Industry was just a fad and that eventually, as TE Lawrence warned our grandchildren would be fighting Arabs over control of their lands and resources.

It's not complaining, to ask if the speech was anything more than just rhetoric.

I don't believe that asking if his ACTIONS will follow his words, is too much. Maybe all you were looking for was an inspirational speech.

I appreciate a good speech, but I know also know about a Nobel Peace Prize winner, who continues rendition and prosecutes justice with Drone Missiles. Who's prosecuted more whistle-blowers than even the Bush/Cheney team. Who declared that Bradley Manning [BTW detained by the Commander-in-Chief naked in solitary for 10 months] is guilty, without benefit of a trial. (He did say Manning was being treated completely fairly)

A President who has worked to reduce Habeas Rights, and Expand Indefinite Detention. Whose rhetoric on the Economic Crisis has been completely refuted by his actions. (How many occupy protesters have been jailed vs how many criminal banksters)

But nevermind, he at least quoted Elizabeth Warren's comment that no one gets here alone. But he does give a helluva speech. And he's certainly not CRAZY like any of his potential REPULSICAN OPPONENTS.

Support him if you wish, and I will be remain skeptical of any rhetorician who uses his verbiage to collect supporters, and then ignores his own allies needs and his own promises.

MIC CHECK as a tactic? It troubles my heart

Brothers and sisters, let me say this as a concerned colleague. I get the idea of "SPEAKING UP" and being part of the dialogue. But in my heart of hearts, I am concerned that when we speak up to disrupt a speech. We invite the same karma. We damage, dialogue, we "SPIKE" the give and take and prevent speech.

I do not condemn, I was not there. I only raise the question. IF WE DISRUPT do we not give others license to disrupt our speech?

I speak not in condemnation, but only from my honest heart. I want the right to give my speech, free and continuous, I will give my opponent, the respect of hearing their "pitch" as I demand the respect to give mine. By withdrawing that respect, do we not invite the same?

I know full well, they do not respect us, our values or our ideas.

I just think we should set the example of giving the respect that they do not give us, then giving our ideas. Speaking our minds.

I share these thoughts, not in condemnation, and not seeking the validation, of agreement, only to raise a question of tactics.

Remembering Lincoln, as a republican while their standard bearers today, say, Black People need to "learn" about hard work, or ask for Paychecks not Welfare, [because they ignore that there are more unemployed white people on welfare than any other color] Or snort and complain that the todays' President is a Welfare president, when it has been their OUT SOURCING and TRICKLE DOWN VooDoo Economics that caused the loss of good American Jobs. All good points, and I’m in full agreement. I would like to add an important intangible that can also spring from the smallest protest. Despite the dangers of acting against the tide especially a BLOOD TIDE.

I was among the earliest protestors against both “Desert Storm ™”, and then the second even more disastrous “Shock and Awe ™” full invasion, or Act II of the MIC’s occupations in South Central Asia.

Standing with a few hearty souls along side the rush hour traffic, on US Highway 1 south of urban Miami, in a very conservative section of town we few stood nearly alone. The few furtive signs of solidarity signalled sometime from only one occupant sprinkled among the majority of Thumbs Down and Middle Finger up signal, or our favorite the “finger drawn across the throat” that we saw quite often.

These surreptitious signs of solidarity convinced us, that many of those who were morally with us, needed a public acknowledgement to comfortably express their opinion. They needed the comfort, the “space” for confirmation of their honest belief, that the war, no matter the Cheerleaders, was bloody murder at its technological peak of efficiency.

SHOCK and AWE … that we dared oppose the status quo.

Like a burp of ill-smelling undigested fast food, Jebby places his "stink-foot" back in the public discourse. [Surprised? Not this writer]

I will quote excerpts from his WSJ OpEd:

Translation: In defense against another attack by socialists, our profit-seeking free-market cannibals must learn to step over the staving poor, littering the streets.

JB - "The right to rise does not require a libertarian utopia to exist."

Translation: A robber baron great-grand-daddy will do.

JB - "Rather, it requires fewer, simpler and more outcome-oriented rules."

Translation: Outcome oriented rules - Rules that allow, river to be poisoned, air to flow freely with dangerous particulates.

JB - Rules for which an honest cost-benefit analysis is done before their imposition. Rules that sunset so they can be eliminated or adjusted as conditions change. Rules that have disputes resolved faster and less expensively through arbitration than litigation."

Translation: Rules that don't encumber THE JOB CREATORS, or if they do... not for very long.

JB - In Washington, D.C., rules are going in the opposite direction. They are exploding in reach and complexity. They are created under a cloud of uncertainty, and years after their passage nobody really knows how they will work. …

Translation: Some rules haven't yet been completely gutted. Not that consumers face any uncertainty.

JB - In short, we must choose between the straight line promised by the statists and the jagged line of economic freedom. The straight line of gradual and controlled growth is what the statists promise but can never deliver. The jagged line offers no guarantees but has a powerful record of delivering the most prosperity and the most opportunity to the most people. We cannot possibly know in advance what freedom promises for 312 million individuals. But unless we are willing to explore the jagged line of freedom, we will be stuck with the straight line. And the straight line, it turns out, is a flat line.

Translation: Statists a new pejorative. If we seek to tame the excesses of our Corporate Overlords... we are now STATISTS - newer than socialists and it reeks of Fully Market Tested Curses. Instead Jebby offers us, the JAGGED DANGEROUS RAZOR SHARP EDGE OF CORPORATE POWER Run-Amuck. Aww, the poor were just savaged by the JAGGED EDGE of the FREE MARKET. It's nobody's fault.... poor dears poisoned by Industrial Runoff - too bad... they were just destroyed by the Jagged Vicious Edge of FREEDOM.

Odd that as you try to address the OCCUPY MOVEMENT you state the BANKSTERS position.

They (The Banksters) made bad choices, prioritized "LIAR LOANS" profited on both sides of the deal, which had nothing to do with the American Dream of home ownership, and everything to do with GREED, and gaming the system.

They paid themselves exorbitant salaries and then when the gush of money ebbed - Got the taxpayers to "bail them out!" And yet refused to help the very taxpayers that bailed them out. They just wave from their Billion Dollar Bonus Parks.

So who's "entitlements" are you defending. When Banksters and Wall Street Traitors (or is that TRADERS?) benefit when they bet against America's Interests? When the tax incentives favor the offshoring of good paying American Jobs - who benefits there? Why do you defend those business men and women who hide their schemes and business practice behind page after page of "fine print"?

When OCCUPY insist that the robbers of Millions and Billions, get the same justice that the villains who steal hundreds and you complain? I got to say, which side are you on?

When OCCUPIERS suggest that medical care, and education should be available to all Americans and you complain

- Is it your position that your grandmother should die, if she can't afford the thousands of dollars a month that private health insurance costs?

If you are among the people, not quite sure, why the OCCUPY MOVEMENT has taken to the public square?

Here are a couple hints. They are trying to get the attention of their servants in government.
They refuse to die silently. They refuse to have their jobs, their lives, their homes, and the chance of an education stolen away.

They are not being heard. There were more people opposed to the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars than even opposed the Viet Nam war debacle. The response of our representatives in government the public servants? They were rolled, by the deceitful Bu$h Administration. And despite evidence to the contrary sent our military and thousands of mercenaries and billion$ of dollar$ to WAR.

They presented a deaf ear when the public demanded PEACE. When the Bush Administration hijacked the US Treasury to bail out their pals on Wall Street and over a weekend demanded a blank check to PROTECT THE AMERICAN ECONOMY? Did our public servants act to protect the public, or did they think only of the people who pay the lobbyists decorating the halls of Congress with sheets of thousand dollar bills. They protected only the revolving door boys, they protected Wall Street.

Did our public servants in Congress demand that there be no PROFIT$ TAKEN from our generous gift of TAX DOLLAR$ to Wall $treet? No, the cash flowed and flowed and flowed and the BONUSES GREW and GREW and GREW!

When Professor Elizabeth Warren said, we must protect the public, we must have transparency. When she dared to suggest these bankers must pay. Congress and the president served the bankers first, and locked her out! - They locked us out too.

BIG MEDIA ignores the real issues, Our public servants in Congress ignore the real issues. The people guaranteed by our Constitution the right PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, to DEMAND redress of Grievances are doing just that. They have gathered across the country, and across the world to say,"IT ENDS HERE!

These patriots gather because they refuse to be ignored. Unionists, Environmental Activists, Human Rights Activists, Economic Justice Activists, Small Business men and women, students and just plan folks, have gathered in the public square to DEMAND the government protect them. Not just protect the BANKS, the BIG CORPORATIONS, the BIG Insurance Companies.

The American people's government exists to protect the interests of the people, not just the CORPORATE POWERS and the 1%ers.

Is it fair, that small businesses and families are paying their fair share of taxes, but GE pays nothing and gets a rebate? Is it fair, that companies enjoy tax incentives to steal American jobs and send them overseas. And unlike the "weak-tea" party, they left their guns at home. OCCUPY is about economic justice and FAIR PLAY for the American People.

You have to wonder is the kind of myopia a product of poor education or willful ignorance.

Unions exist because of corporate leadership's inability to understand, that workers must be paid a living wage. Unions and the guild before them gave some bargaining power to workers and craftsman who were at the mercy of the rich and powerful.

Those who would abolish unions and other organizations which protect workers and craftsman's rights would march us into the SLAVE LABOR FACTORIES so "popular" among the oligarchs who rule big business, today.

Factories that demand 18 hour, seven day weeks dorm living (for which they are billed) [remember "I owe my soul to the company store" - Seniors may remember Ernie Ford's rendition]

Union activists achieved the 5 day work week. (You can thank the Unions for the WEEKEND) Unless you consider that an industry destroying Un-American achievement. Companies earned more and more profits. The unions said to management, those workers who make such profits and the high wages of the corporate leadership possible should share in those profits.

Retirement investment and healthcare benefits both spring from the union bargaining for fair wages and fair participation in the profits. Take home checks 270 times greater than the workers salaries is a modern development springing from Reagan's decision to betray unionized federal workers. REMEMBER Reagan the guy that traded missiles with the Iranians just after they held American Embassy workers hostage for a year. That's the guy that opened WARFARE on the American Workers Rights. And while you're thanking Ronnie and Nancy's astrologer for that particular victory for the Corporate Oligarch, don't forget to thank Ollie North, the guy that stuffed secret papers, in his secretaries drawers so they could be smuggled out of the White House. What a hero.

Think twice before you betray workers families because they want to participate in the benefits that stem from their labors. When you defend a corporations rights to profit from slave labor while polluting the planet, you will definitely reap what you sow.

You don't spin video. You don't spin heavily armed riot police, firing tear gas, using sound cannons and billy clubs. Ask the marine in the hospital about NON-LETHAL FORCE.

They didn't attack the angry armed T-partiers. They attacked the peaceful protestors who opposed the banksters. They opposed the deregulation that wiped out their savings. The peaceful protestors were opposed, were attacked by policemen and women, whose pensions are under attack, by the same forces of greed that the OCCUPY Activists denounce.

I don't blame the police, I don't even blame the fearful captains and sergeants. I blame those ignorant of CONSTITUTIONAL GUARANTEES. I quote the First Amendment:

AMENDMENT I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

...

May the officers, who fired at the heads of those peaceful citizens, live to rethink their cavalier abuse of the first amendment. And orders to break the law, are unlawful orders. Even Donald Rumsfeld knows that thats why those criminals, sought to soothe their consciences with bendable lawyers.

Do you know why we have regulation because unregulated business have poisoned their employees and killed their customers. If people weren't greedy, we wouldn't need laws. If people drove like they want everyone else to drive we wouldn't need traffic laws.

When American corporations move overseas so they can ignore regulations that keep from poisoning us they poison other communities. Check out the pollution problems in Mexico, and China. Where the UNREGULATED ROAM FREE.

Whether or not, MABELL built her machine is irrelevant to the issue. Yes corporation do wonderful amazing things, but unregulated businesses also do horrific things.

"You don't like safe food. Don't care about safe water. Don't care if there is sewage on the Beaches. No wildlife fine with you? And you obviously don't need safe medicine or appliances. All those nasty regulations that ruin the economy for those who woud poison you? That would be a shame. - RW Spisak"

As for me, I'd like there to still be wildlife. I'd like to know that airlines are safe, and that the medicine my grand children and wife eat is safe.

Do some reading, look up why the food industry is regulated?

Read Sinclair Lewis who exposed meat packing. Read Rachel Carson "The Silent Spring" if you and your children and grand children weren't protected from the abuses of the Agribusiness excesses - you might be eating corn that has pesticide genetically engineered right into the corn - OOPS you probably are - But don't you worry about it - Eating that pesticide will be easier if you and those who would GUT PROTECTIVE REGULATION get your way.

If you're part of the 99% yes, you are taxed too much. If you work or worked for a salary yes, you have paid too much. But if your a banker, or an insurance exec, or a trader making money with no tax liability, and you paid less in taxes than the janitor who took out your trash, you my friend have been getting a free ride. Time to pay the fare.

I am a small business man, I pay taxes each month. When I hear of companies who are receiving tax benefits from sending jobs over seas, or companies like GE or BP or GOLDMAN SACHS who take advantage of the benefits of doing business in a country, whose roads are paved, who is serviced by police and fireman, and whose staff is educated by tax payers. And yet paid no tax, or worse got a REFUND?

Don't talk to me about "T.E.A." partiers? Those "economically concerned" who never appeared while the Shrub and Turd-blossom put two wars on the credit card - You've got to be kidding me!

If your among the 1% who pays no taxes and yet benefits from a country built by tax payers you'll get no sympathy from me. Your trickle down doesn't trickle down on me!

The people in the streets right now, the (Occupy Wall Street, OCCUPY TAMPA, OCCUPY BOSTON, OCCUPY LA, OCCUPY MIAMI, OCCUPY PALM BEACH) who are demanding that mortgage payers get the same kind of loving care that BANKERS GOT.

I'm with them I'm a 99% oh, did I mention I'm an Educator. And thus, viewed by my "governor" as expendable.

Clearly you are confused about the "idea" of liberal. The point of being a liberal, or progressive, is that you are prepared with an open mind to listen to a variety of opinions, and assess the available facts and then come to a reasoned conclusion.

The very idea on a "cult" is an anathema to the philosophy or world view of the truly liberal. [liberals were accused of cult-like behavior.]

I offer this in contrast with those who let FAUX NEWS [the propaganda organ of the PLUTOCRACY] do their thinking for them. I draw you attention to the followers who speak of themselves as the "DITTO-HEADS" who let Mr. Limbaugh do their thinking for them.

You earlier about what alternative did America have to an invasion of Afghanistan or Iraq. You neglected to really "think" about what ostensibly necessitated the invasion. Maybe you would point to the attack on the Building in New York. [Including no doubt the building the fell "in sympathy] with the near by destruction.

Assuming you accept the "approved" version sanctified by the Bush Administration. Wasn't it Saudi's and Saudi money - and of course with the addition money funneled by our "allies" in Pakistan's ISI.

Was it necessary to invade, and occupy Iraq, Afghanistan, to fend off a couple thousand tribesman? I and many others think not.

I recommend you read the essay by Marine General Smedley who fought in both the Mexican American War and World War I. You remember that one, it was the one, to end all Wars. Or at least that was the slogan.

I'm sure your open-minded enough to do a little historic reading. As the saying goes, those that don't know history, are bound to repeat it.

The day, Obama joined; OCCUPY WALL STREET

He told the Secret Service to get the chopper ready, he was headed to a meeting at Goldman Sachs. So they warmed up Marine One and a few minutes later with his usual retinue of handlers advisors and a few staffers, he crossed the lawn and climbed into the copter seconds later and headed off east nor east.

They landed about an hour later on the roof top helo pad atop the GLASSINE TOWER that obscures the corruption at Goldman Sachs. The president was all grins, as he tucked his briefcase under his arm and walked briskly across the roof to the elevator that would take him to his place beside the seat of power.

Far below in the streets thousands had joined the Occupiers that had now, begun the 30th day of the encirclement of the Goldman Sachs building. The occupiers had taken up positions circling the buildings non-stop while the police who have not allowed any sitting or standing on or around the building permitted them to parade around the building provided they didn't blockade the entrances. The police union had promised the occupiers, they would defend their constitutional rights to assemble and protest. Provided they agreed not to blockade any entrances. This truce had stood for two weeks. The circling crowd, never counted less than several thousand.

Not long after Marine One had disgorged its passengers, the crowd surged around the entrance. A galvanic impulse seemed to energize the crowd. A clot of secret service had appeared at the main entrance to the building. The crowd surged forward and then lurched back as the corporate security team pressed outward against the shifting and slowly circling occupiers.

"Stand Down", the secret service, waved the security guards off, they were rumored to be a wet team from Xe, each one an example of beefy steroid excess reeking of mercenary bloodlust. The had stood silent guard at every entrance heavily armed bristling with automatic weapons and more.

Seconds later the lanky figure of a black man exited the building surrounded by the secret service contingent that quickly formed the flying wedge that would provide the normal phalanx of protection for a head of state in a public arena. Those closest to the entrance turned to see what would happen next. Instant consensus was that the president would shake a few hands, maybe exchange a few comments and move on, the press hadn't even arrive yet. After all, hadn't Nixon chatted with Anti-War protestors?

The president walked right into the crowd which parted, both in deference to the wedge of secret services and partially out of civic respect. It was only a few of the curious with cameras perched high overhead and a few souls in close proximity who actually gathered what in fact, was happening. The president strode right into the crowd, with secret service in tow and headed right down the street toward the park that had become the epicenter of the occupation.

The president stopped briefly at the park edge and spoke to a pair of colorfully coiffed teenage girls. He then turned to some of the media activists and after a few brief exchanges was seen nodding and smiling. He continued wading further into the park. He walked among the seated people pausing here and there, the secret service team twitchingly alert. But eventually one of the occupiers, offered the president some salad and a cushion to rest on, and the crowd shifted to accommodate the newcomers. Some moved closer to catch the exchanges between those near enough to toss a question and retrieve an answer from this adventurous politician.

Some of the secret service hunkered down, after a bit and settled in for what seemed to be an extended stay. A camera crew and producer from Democracy Now, made their way through the crowd, and with battery powered lights opposed the dimming sunset, and the president conducted a brief press conference, from the heart of occupied Liberty Square.

One by one, the commercial media crews found their way most for the first time to Liberty Square. They set up their cameras, and equipment and took up positions ringing the president. He sat, holding court while a couple toddlers, alternative dove in his lap, or raced their toy fire engines over his head. Ringed by cameras he held forth on the importance of the Liberty Park occupation sitting on a cushion next to a young family who had offered him a bowl of their family salad dinner. Their child had grown comfortable with the president and had begun, occasionally to climb on him, as children will on a person who is the center of attention. While the young mother had twice, tried to pull back when he ran his firetruck over the presidents head, Barack had smiled and gave the toddler a thorough tickling while an uncomfortable Dan Rather balanced uncertainly against a tree.

The press eventually tired of the president's "TIME FOR JOBS" theme and as the lights were shut off Barack began talking with the occupiers. Every few minutes for the first couple of hours, the secret service would lean in and ask, was he about ready to go? Clearly the president had no, interest in leaving anytime soon.

It began to drizzle and across the crowded square tarps and plastic sheeting appeared to envelope the activist village. Somebody passed the president a poncho and the secret service team scrambled to locate umbrellas, but the president waved them off. Down the street, bright lights appeared and began slowly to work their way toward the park. The secret service lead man, leaned down several times and exchanged information with the president. A large smile played across the president's face.

Eventually the bobbing lights approached the edge of the park nearest the president. The crowd parted and the lights approached more rapidly. Soon, it was clear who was joining the occupiers at Liberty Square. The president's daughters appeared in a gap in the crowd, trailed by the stately Michelle. Daddy, DADDY - we've come to spend the night. Michelle was carrying sleeping bags, and an aide held a child's colorful tent rolled up.

Daddy Daddy, we've come to be with you and THE PEOPLE!

No thought is given to the farmer in need of irrigation in Iraq, the US was busy paying to have novels translated into Iraqi. We also built fake factories. Oh how we helped bring civilization to the "Fertile Crescent". (Look it Up)

The chorus of WAR-MERCHANTS drones on about security, security, terror, terror. I guess they mean, take your shoes off we'll be scanning you naked.

We will pay the WAR-MERCHANTS for their GOLD-PLATED high explosive diplomacy, their fragmentary bombs of diplomacy, their cluster bombs of International Relations, their UNSPENT NUCLEAR WARHEADS of nation building. What a gift, so much more... DRAMATIC than the PEACE CORPS.

Then we'll pay them (The War Merchants) to hire a subcontractor who is little more than a "cut-out" commercial slave-owners to pretend to refill the craters and rewire the broken buildings and then throw up a Potemkin Village of a "chinese" plasterboard to replace the real city of concrete and masonry. No money for that bridge in Florida, Kentucky, New York, Ohio...

Americans must stand idle, divided into ever smaller and smaller interest groups, each co-opted by hidden paymasters. Coerced into opposing their own interests they ride the manufactured buses of dissent and hold the NON-UNION printed signs waving their weapons at their fellow inmates. The schools, and the libraries, are not for the poor alone. Clean air, and clean water are in fact affordable, the planet is not disposable, in fact POLLUTION IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE SAUCE of all.

We must lead the reactionaries forces toward a more humane governance. Something more akin to what the founders bequeathed us. A nation of the people (NOT-CORPORATIONS) and not conducted in secret by a tyrannical government obscured by lies from those who must control and guide it.

Openness not secrecy is the cure.

The national security state can only exist only for it's own perpetuation.

OPPOSE THE WAR on Afghanistan, on Iraq, on Yemen, Somalia, and the most important war of all the WAR on Working Americans. We will not go gently back to the feudal servitude. LAWS are equally for all the people - the corporations, the ruling elite of Wall Street, and the international outlaws of Crawford Texas, are not too big to JAIL!

In the long lurch rightward that has reduced NPR to republican framing and talking points has long saddened this reporter. I watched our old NPR, once a stalwart of old time journalism trimming and trimming it's sails until we get 5 interviews from the Heritage and Hoover economic school, and no alternative analysis.

So you can imagine how bad local and regional news is, that I and many other still depend on the gelded NPR for our national and international news. [as well as BBC, France 24, RTV, New India Times,Al Ghezira and others]
Why did it take more than a week to even notice the Wall Street occupation? There is no excuse despite this "explanation" from Dick Meyer of NPR:

RSN reports We asked the (NPR) newsroom to explain their editorial decision. Executive editor for news Dick Meyer came back: "The recent protests on Wall Street did not involve large numbers of people, prominent people, a great disruption or an especially clear objective."

Hundred protesting peacefully for over a week, protesting WALL STREET ABUSES, MORTGAGE GOUGING, FAILURE OF THE REGULATORS TO PROSECUTE WALL STREET CRIMINALS?
Nobody on the cute list? No Billionaires? NO NEWS HERE? Really NPR? PEPPER SPRAYING PEACEFUL PROTESTORS? No Clear Objective?

I will not support GOP-lite. I will not support a candidate or a party that will use "progressive" talking points as a means to insure that a corporatist wolf, can be elected with a real mandate to establish universal single payer, restore the rule of law, and put an end to lawless oligarchy and plutocracy in the land of Jefferson, Adams and Franklin.

A constitutional scholar who only looks forward when it comes to bankers and oil men but remembers to persecute (not prosecute) whistleblowers is not a democrat to my taste. Who stands not on the UNION PICKET LINE as he promised but on the green with CAPTAINS OF GOLD-PLATED SACHS on the lawns of the RULING CAST.

Mistake me not for some inattentive would be LIBERTARIAN, interested only in Ron Pauls words about War and failing to studies his incomplete understanding of the purpose that was so poetically described by "a more perfect union". Lulled into somnambulism, with independence rhetoric in a world where we are connected to the abandoned baby and the tossed away factory worker.

And I all to well appreciate that the possible damage to the nation and its infrastructure both humane and natural might well see the light of both liberty and science extinguished in a new dark ages by any of the several faux theocrats proffered by the GRAND OLD PARTY at present.

I answer to a higher authority than fear, I serve posterity and the light and life of my true brothers and sisters the life artists some refer to as hippies or free spirits or bohemians. I think you over simplify tremendously when you right the left, the vocal left, the "professional" and amateur left, the honorable and religious left, hate OBAMA. We dislike capitulation in the face of opposition. We disagree with policies that promise healthcare for all, and then before the negotiations begin a strategy that gives up first principles, that grovels before big pharma. That refuses to prosecute WALL STREET and Bankers but indicts more whistle blowers than any other administration. We disapprove of policies that put a Bradley Manning in solitary for a year before even beginning the hearings, but gives International War Criminals and torturers like BUSH, CHENEY, RUMSFELD, YOO and others a big friendly smile and wave.

You suggest what all of us that worked to elect the Chameleon President who ran as a progressive and only later revealed his presidential model "Ronnie Rayguns" hate the president. Hate him? that most of us, worked hard for, and voted for and cried in celebration of his election! You are mistaken, my friend mistaken.
