Mozilla Firefox 3.5 is now officially available for download.

Other then being the Fastest Firefox Ever, new features include a Private Browsing Mode to hide browser activity, a JavaScript engine known as TraceMonkey, new location services, Open Video, and HTML5 support.

Moon is scheduled to open in the US in about a couple of weeks.

I won’t give away to much, just watch the trailer. The bottom line is that it looks to be one of the best Sci-Fi flicks to look forward to.

Another movie I look forward too. 2012.
I know, it’s probably a silly movie with a dumb plot - But I’m a sucker for great CG.
Not childish idiotic “Transformers” type of Computer Graphics. I mean movies that realistically depict amazing, but possible, “What if” scenarios.

Windows Vista SP2 Released

This took me by complete surprise.

I had an automatic update notice on my Vista machine today.
As usual I almost automatically chose to apply it, when I notice that, HEY, this is Service Pack 2 for Vista.
I wasn’t even expecting it to be honest.

So I looked around the internet a little, and yes, Microsoft released today the Windows Vista SP2 update. Both as a standalone downloadable version as well as an automatic update.

Among the notable changes are:

* Windows Search 4.0! (Cool, cool search tool - Finally official part of the OS)
* Removes the limit of 10 half open outbound TCP connections! (No more custom hacks for eMule!)
* Improves performance for Wi-Fi connections
* Adds support for Blu-Ray Disc media recording
* Should improve performance in general

And more.

District 9 - Wait for it

Peter Jackson, from Lord of the Rings fame, will release later this year a movie he produced, by the name of District 9.

I just happened to bump into it through a post on Roberson’s Interminable Ramble, and oh my god, this movie looks sweet. I’m really looking forward for it to come out.

Ubuntu 9.04 ‘Jaunty Jackalope’ Released

The Linux wonder child Ubuntu has finally released the next major version today - Ubuntu 9.04 ‘Jaunty Jackalope’.

New features include:

1. Gnome 2.26 desktop environment, which includes the following new features:

a) brasero, an all-in-one CD burning application.
b) Improved multi-monitor handling.

2. X.Org server 1.6, which supports several new video cards, as well as ATI-specific performance improvements including EXA acceleration by default, 2D support for R6xx/R7xx, 3D support for R5xx cards, along with an updated -fglrx proprietary driver for R6xx/R7xx 3D support.

3. New notification style and preferences.

4. Boot performance is “significantly improved”.

5. Linux kernel 2.6.28-11.37, which is based on 2.6.28.8.

6. Ext4 file system support.

7. Server edition includes support for cloud computing via Eucalyptus, an open source technology which is included in Ubuntu as a technology preview, enables you to use your own servers to deploy, experiment and test your own private cloud that matches the Amazon EC2 API.

8. Turn-key mail servers with the dovecot-postfix package, which supports SMTP, POP3 and IMAP with TLS and SASL.

Now You Can Change What Google Says About You

A very interesting new feature released by Google. ReadWriteWeb writes:

Today Google released a product, called Google Me, that aims to change all of that. For a price - though not a monetary one.

Starting today, searchers who enter only the word “me” in the search box will be given an opportunity to set up or edit their Google Profile.

When someone searches for a name that matches a Google Profile, that profile may now be displayed at the bottom of the search results page.

A lot of poeple have reservations, and rightfully so, of providing too much personal information to Google. I personally belive that the secret is the middle road, of doing everything in a rational and moderate way, rather than choosing one of the exterems. What I mean by that in this case is that I’m happy I’m able to create a Google profile for myself, yet I keep the most private stuff (Phone numbers etc) to myself and didn’t give them to this Google application.
