The induction of the new state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800 into Jet Airways’ young fleet is in keeping with the airline's commitment to continually innovate and differentiate its product for a heightened in-flight experience.

The all new Boeing 737-800 is replete with the very latest Boeing 787 inspired shape, color, décor and texture, all of which make for a truly unmatched flying experience. The minute the guest steps onboard the aircraft, he/she is greeted by the all new Sky Interior, complete with new cove lighting and a curved cabin architecture that provides a feeling of openness and space.

The bright new color and décor of the aircraft with modern, sculpted sidewalls and larger windows, combined with the effect of the light-emitting diode (LED) lighting significantly enhances the sense of spaciousness in the cabin. That aside, the dynamic and brighter LED lighting can portray different color schemes like a soft blue sky and a relaxing pallet of sunset colors, while providing for maximum efficiency and lower maintenance costs.

Another feature that will most definitely be appreciated by guests are the new pivot bins, which afford greater overhead bin capacity for storage.
New improved passenger service units and a significantly quieter cabin also add to the comfort of the guests. In addition to this, the new Boeing 737 – 800 aircraft also possess superior on board, sound quality and clarity through new speakers that have been improved in each passenger row.

Jet Airways took delivery of the first of these 11 new next generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft to be inducted into the airline's fleet this month, with the balance such aircraft to be delivered between October 2011 and March 2013. Of the 11 new aircraft, 2 Boeing 737 – 800 will have 16 Première and 138 Economy Class seating configuration complete with Jet Airways world-class in-flight entertainment system. The remaining 9 Boeings will a have 8 Premiere and 162 Economy Class seating configuration.

Commenting on the acquisition of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, said “The Boeing 737 has been an essential part of our product offering in the past and Jet Airways selected the next generation state-of-the art Boeing 737-800 aircraft because of its high degree of operational flexibility and economy.

At Jet Airways we have continually and consciously innovated with our products and services to deliver a significantly enhanced guest experience with unmatched comfort. The induction of the Boeing 737-800 with Sky Interiors is another step at attempting to set an industry benchmark.”

These new Boeing 737 – 800 aircraft will also possess better economy, given the fact that they will have over 1 per cent less fuel burn, compared to the airline’s fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.

IndiGo, India's second biggest domestic carrier, will offer daily Singapore-Delhi flights from Sept 15.
It starts its runs to and from Mumbai the following month, and will add Chennai and Bangalore by early next year.
At a Singapore press conference on Tuesday, IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh said he is confident it will expand, rather than cannibalise, the market.

The Singapore-Delhi sector, covered in a 5 1/2-hour flight, is nowserved by India's full-service carriers Air India and Jet Airways, and Singapore Airlines; Singapore-Mumbai is served by five airlines, including Australia's Qantas and India's Kingfisher Airlines.
With over a million users, ngpay is the fastest growing end-to-end mobile commerce service in India.

This service will allow guests to book, cancel and refund their eTickets and also manage payment cards on their phones. Upon completion of the booking process, an eTicket will automatically be sent to the guest's preferred email address.
To activate this facility, Jet Airways guests would need to download the ngpay - mobile ticketing application on their GPRS enabled mobile phones.
To download the application, guests would need to send an SMS “JetNgpay” to 56388. They will then receive a SMS with a link to download the application. Upon successful download, the ngpay icon will be displayed on their mobile phones.

To know more about booking your Jet Airways ticket on ngpay, visit jetairways.com or m.jetairways.com.

Malaysia Airlines was unanimously elected a oneworld member designate by the Chief Executives of the alliance's member airlines, at a meeting on the sidelines of IATA's 2011 World Air Transport Summit, which opens in Singapore today.

A formal alliance membership agreement will be completed soon.

Malaysia Airlines is expected to start flying as part of oneworld late next year.

As it prepares for its alliance membership, Malaysia Airlines intends to develop bilateral links with a number of oneworld's established partners, who include some of the biggest and best names in the airline industry. It already code-shares with oneworld partners Cathay Pacific and Royal Jordanian.

When it becomes part of oneworld, its customers will gain access to the alliance's truly global network. It will expand oneworld's global coverage to almost 950 destinations in 150 countries, served by a combined fleet of more than 2,600 aircraft operating some 10,000 flights a day and carrying 358 million passengers a year.

Three established oneworld member airlines currently serve Malaysia, with Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines and Royal Jordanian flying to Kuala Lumpur, and Cathay Pacific also to Penang and, through its Dragonair affiliate, Kota Kinabalu. Opportunities for expanding the alliance's coverage of the country will be explored as Malaysia Airlines prepares to join.

Kingfisher Airlines is one of India’s market-leading airlines and is a member-elect of the world’s leading quality airline alliance, oneworld. Royal Caribbean International is one of the largest cruise lines in the world, offering vacations to more than 260 ports around the world.

“Working together, we can offer a number of synergies and new benefits to our Royal Caribbean International guests, and to Kingfisher customers,” explains Michael Bayley, Executive Vice President of International for Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. “India is a key market for us, and we look forward to expanding our brand presence there and introducing people to the world of cruising.”

"At King Club, our vision is to deliver a bouquet of unmatched and innovative benefits across the world to our members, in collaboration with leading national and international brands,” said Ms. Anshu Sarin, Vice President of Guest Loyalty and Kingfisher Holidays at Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. “The alliance with Royal Caribbean International is yet another initiative that will expand the range of exciting and exclusive benefits we offer our King Club guests.”

This is the first time Royal Caribbean has entered into a strategic alliance of this magnitude in the Asia-Pacific region, where the Legend of the Seas sails out of Singapore and Hong Kong, and Brilliance of the Seas is home-ported in Dubai seasonally. Kingfisher Airlines flies to all three of these embarkation ports from cities throughout India and its tour division, Kingfisher Holidays, conveniently bundles vacation packages that include both a Royal Caribbean cruise and airfare for the Kingfisher Airlines guests.

To celebrate the new partnership, Kingfisher Airlines is launching an online sweepstakes for its King Club members, which will give one lucky couple from India a free 4-night Isles of Southeast Asia cruise on Legend of the Seas departing from Singapore on May 23, 2011. The 2,074-passenger Legend of the Seas offers guests Broadway-style musicals in the theatre, themed parties, a Vegas style casino, drinks in the panoramic Viking Crown Lounge and much more. Furthermore, the winning couple will receive round-trip flights from Kingfisher Airlines.

Another advantage of the alliance is that Kingfisher Airlines’ King Club members will earn miles when they book a qualifying Royal Caribbean International cruise. For example, members will earn 1,500 King Club miles when booking a balcony stateroom on a 4- to 5-night cruise or 2,500 miles for a 6- to 8-night cruise in a Junior Suite. When booking for a group, the King Club member who reserves and pays for the stateroom will receive the miles. Members can redeem their miles for upgrades and free airline tickets.

The Delhi Airport Metro Express Line is the express metro connection between Indira Gandhi International Airport - Terminal 3 and downtown Delhi, similar to the metro link between Hong Kong International Airport and the city. The City Check-in (CCI) as a value-added service is being introduced to the Airport Metro Express Line‘s (AMEL) at the three City Airport Terminals (CAT)- namely New Delhi Station and Shivaji Stadium Stations with check-in baggage and Dhaula Kuan Station without check-in baggage.

Guests using this facility, however, must report at the Jet Airways Terminal 3 Domestic departure Gates 30 minutes before departure. Baggage will accordingly reach the Indira Gandhi Terminal 3 baggage conveyor belt area. All baggage rules as followed presently at the Indira Gandhi International Airport will continue at the check-in facilities at the Metro stations.

Jet Airways will also introduce Metro express line city check-ins for its international services from Delhi on the receipt of the requisite clearances from regulatory authorities.

This marks the highest number of passengers carried by any airline of Indian origin on its domestic and international network.

Jet Airways flew a record 1.55 million guests on its domestic and international network; while JetLite flew an equally impressive 0.47 million guests to assist the Jet Airways Group log this truly unique milestone in the Indian Aviation sector.

In the domestic market, the annual holiday season lifted domestic passenger traffic for Jet Airways by 17%, as compared to the same period last year. The growth in International passenger traffic saw a similar 17% increase, reflecting a growing passenger demand for the airline’s award-winning International product, not to mention the increasing impact of Jet Airways’ International codeshares and introduction of new routes as well as strategic marketing and network initiatives.

Mr. Nikos Kardassis, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways (I) Ltd said, “Besides helping further consolidate our leadership position in Indian skies, this new milestone of flying 2 million guests further reiterates the fact that Jet Airways, Jet Airways Konnect and JetLite have all catered to distinct passenger segments. Thus, it has been the Group’s ability to fully anticipate customer and market requirements and consequently customize its product to cater to these requirements that has helped Jet Airways stay ahead. I am certain that our focus to deliver customer delight will further help Jet Airways build on its industry benchmarks of convenience and comfort for its guests.”

The concept for this new Jet Airways’ service drew inspiration from the airline’s corporate identity and has created a distinctive “look” for both Première and First Class, differentiating it from other airline brands.

The design elements of the new crockery incorporate the traditional hand decoration techniques of English potters in the Stoke-On-Trent area, handed down from generations. It involves the use of formal and intricate decorative techniques in the development of a range of fine bone chinaware, often prided as collector’s pieces. Working mainly on special commissions, the William Edwards hand wrought tableware for Jet Airways sets the airline’s hallmark onboard service to a new level. The First Class collection utilises a style and colouration that picks up on the warm rich colours and textures associated with Indian culture, with the use of precious metal – real gold and gold mica to add richness to the collection.

Using a similar design format – the Première collection is set apart from the First Class line by incorporating platinum and silver mica, to reflect “corporate smartness” with a subtle combination of both white and decorated items, delivering an exclusive appearance to the Première guests.

Furthermore, the classic shapes of the round rimmed tableware and the contemporary colours and styles are juxtaposed to create a fine balance. The product’s twelve month journey from concept to delivery stage stands testimony to the dedication and attention to detail displayed by the in-house team responsible for developing the product. According to designer William Edwards it was an “extended creative process”.

In addition, the airline will also redefine the in-flight dining experience for its guests with a range of varied and delectable Indian and international menu options, effective May 5, 2011 for First Class guests, and June 1, 2011 onwards for Première guests. Guests may also customize their meals as per their tastes, choosing exactly what they would like to eat.

The meals in India are prepared by the Kitchens of Oberoi and in London by the iconic Bombay Brasserie, which was awarded Tatler’s ‘Restaurant of the Decade’ and a pioneer of traditional and authentic regional Indian food in Europe.

According to Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commerical Officer, Jet Airways, “At Jet Airways, we have always endeavoured to provide our First Class and Première guests with an unparalleled in-flight travel experience- including a world-class in-flight product, superb service, and class-leading cuisine. We are confident, that with the introduction of this elegant, bespoke crockery from the house of William Edwards, as also our new meal concepts, will be much appreciated by the discerning global traveller.”

The Air Cargo Excellence survey is based upon a rating system that measures airlines and airports on specific criteria and subsequently ranks them to identify their performance levels.

As a reflection of the high standards of the airline's systems and procedures, Jet Airways emerged victorious from amongst several leading cargo airlines, receiving a certificate of merit from the publishers of Air Cargo World.

Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, said, “The Air Cargo Award of Excellence 2011 is widely respected across the freight forwarding and trade industry and we are delighted to receive this honour.
