This is Gemma. A cute 18 year old schoolgirl who is going to become a regular contributor to this blog. Rebecca and I met her in a bar a few weeks ago and we talked about the possibility of her modelling for us. She jumped at the chance so took her home and took some photographs to see how things turned out.

Take a look at this shot that Rebecca and I took over the weekend. Has she got what it takes to be a glamour model? I think so. But getting the booking agents for the top glamour magazines to sit up and take notice is a very hard job. They all have their own little networks of contacts and photographers which is hard to break into unless you know the right people.

Rebecca has been modeling as an amateur for a few years now but really wants to make a name for herself and try to hit the big time using her obvious assets to grab a slice of the glamour modeling millions.

Personally I think she has the young innocent look that most modeling agencies would kill for. And if that’s not enough she has the sort of body that most men would consider their fantasy. It’s a knockout combination

The stance taken by most Upstart Blogger readers, and it’s author, was that nothing should stand in the way of open source development. Furthermore they argued that any license added to open source code was to all intents and purposes unenforceable and unethical. Wishing to push things even further Ashley designed a new theme using Chris Pearson’s Thesis premium Wordpress theme as a base and stated his intention to release it for free unless someone could come up with a convincing argument that would persuade him not to.

Rather than offer anything constructive Chris Pearson reacted via his Twitter page. As I watched the whole thing unfold I was stunned at his childish attitude and at just how low he was sinking. Amazing. Isn’t it? Is this how we should expect a so called Wordpress theme professional to behave? By calling people ‘cockwad’ and ’stupid ass’ and shouting things like ‘I could post testimonials ALL FUCKING DAY’?

If all that name calling wasn’t enough how about the egomaniacal shot ‘what do I care about someone who cannot possibly match my profile, EVER’?

Chris Pearson, what the hell were you thinking? Instead of taking the opportunity to contribute to a perfectly valid argument you have lashed out and made a complete fool of yourself. Had you simply engaged your brain before lashing out you might have even been able to turn the situation around and convince people that putting a restrictive license on open source code was ok.

To bring you up to speed on all things personal here at Avon Blake towers (the current name for my small but perfectly formed abode) Rebecca and I have decided to move in together and to conquer the blogosphere as a sort of dynamic blogging duo. More on that wonderful and exciting arrangement in a future post, but for now I’d like to briefly lay out our template for applying the four hour work week to a blog.

Inspired as always by the various blogging income reports that float past me screen on a daily basis I’m confident that Rebecca and I can make a good living for ourselves working just four hours a week.

Yes, that’s right. I said we were going to work for just four hours a week and make lots of money.

You probably think I’m crazy right about now, especially since I famously ripped into Tim Ferris in a recent post and then gave his book away for free. But I’m not crazy, I promise. Here’s the plan.

We are going to work for one hour every weekday except for Wednesday. There is no particular reason for choosing Wednesday as our day off since working only one hour on the other days will make every day feel like a day off. We just thought it would make a nice break, work two days, one day off, work two days, weekend off, repeat.

Each hour will be taken up with a couple of tasks. Blogging, replying to comments, browsing, social networking, commenting on other blogs, creating content and managing advertising. It currently takes me around 20 minutes to write a blog post of reasonable length so even if I post 4 times a week I will still have plenty of time left over for the other stuff.

It might seem like a pipe dream but we are going to make it work. If jazz trumpet supremo and blogging Upstart Ashley Morgan can make over $8,000 every month just posting three times a week then I’m sure that our plan has potential.

I might not have been able to do it on my own but with Rebecca by my side I’m sure I’ll succeed.

This is Rebecca. She’s a model. And she’s my girlfriend. 

We met on new years eve at a party in one of London’s many hip and happening night spots. I decided to stay with some friends who live in the city and to spend new year with them. My friends and I blagged our way into a party and a few drinks later I plucked up the courage to go and speak to the fine looking blonde you can see in the picture.

She said hello, I offered to buy her a drink, she accepted. She then asked what I did for a living and I told her that I was a student taking a year off before starting university in september 2009. 

She didn’t seem particularly impressed.

But then I told her that I was an up and coming pro blogger, with my very own and very popular blog, she started to show an interest. In the blink of an eye I had gone from being just another student hitting on a hot girl to something much more exciting and dynamic. 

The drinks flowed as did the conversation. Rebecca told me that she had been modeling for just over a year after being persuaded by a shady modeling agent to sign a contract with him. Although she was happy modeling she wanted to control her own career. She didn’t want some sleazy photographer telling her what to do.

And then she popped the question. 

Would I help her get some exposure on my blog? Did I think I could help her reach the sort of audience that her sleazy agent could never hope to achieve? Was there anywhere we could go to escape this noisy club and talk some more about it?

My answers were very predictable but exactly what she wanted to hear. Yes, yes and yes.

Within 10 minutes we were in the back of a cab on the way to my friends house. We talked for hours about our respective careers and how we might be able to help each other with out professional goals. Rebecca wants publicity for her modeling career and I want traffic for my blog. There’s a partnership in their somewhere, I’m sure of it.

And then the conversation turned to more personal matters. We were both young free and single, two 18 year olds in one of the most exciting cities in the world on the most exciting night in the world.

I’m pretty sure you can guess the rest. Boy meets girl, boy tells girl he’s a blogger, girl falls for boy.

So, it was certainly a new year to remember. All thanks to blogging.

But wait a minute. I need to be careful what I’m saying. Or thinking.

I want to make a fortune by doing very little work.

Maybe that makes me a giant hypocrite. Who knows? Who cares?

What matters is that I started this blog in a blaze of glory, got all rowdy like the testosterone filled teenager that I am, started shouting at everyone, Premium Wordpress theme designers who won’t share their code, authors who have made millions with get rich quick books, bloggers who act like they own the blogosphere and anyone else who strayed onto my mental radar. And then after banging my head against the virtual wall several times I retreated, in semi defeat, to my bedroom in my parents house to plot another plan to try and do the one thing that all those others that drove me crazy seemed to be doing.

Making a shed load of cash with as little effort as possible. I hated them because I wanted to have what they had and I just couldn’t get my head around why people like John Chow and Tim Ferris were apparently millionaires when their blogs were, in a word, junk.

I’ll be honest with you since it’s much better to clear all of this up and move forward.

I’m just another teenage boy trying to get rich quick. I have a place at college lined up for September 2009 and I want to be rich by the time I get there. So rich that I can buy fast cars, luxury apartments and over priced items of stationery. I need the last of those three things to really cut it as a pro blogger, don’t you think?

More than that, I want girls to adore me.

There, I’ve said it. One of the reasons I am blogging is so that I can get some.

And that brings me back to the Four Hour Work Week. I have an audio copy that I’ve listened to a few times now and, although I still don’t like the guy and I still think it’s a scam, I think I may be able to make some of the principles work.

You see, I have a cunning plan.

The Invasion Of The Z List Bloggers will still take place, very soon in fact, and I still fully expect it to be a big deal. But my plan for this blog is something that I’ve picked up from reading the book that made me so angry.

Running a successful blog and managing a successful multi author blog in under four hours a week seems like a tall order. At the moment it seems like an impossible dream.

But, like I said, I do have a plan.
