I'm sure you are as shocked as I am about the shooting at Fort Hood Army base. For you long time readers of my blog if you will re-call, I was a flight attendant on a charter flight bringing troops back from Iraq in January 2009. "MY" troops were the 3d Armored Cavalry, the Brave Rifles, based at Fort Hood. The ladies and gents I met on that long flight back were among the most humble, kind, loving and thoughtful Americans I have ever been proud and honored to meet. It was a true pleasure to serve them and to bring them back safely to their loved ones.

My heart and prayers go out to all the family and folks associated with Fort Hood. I pray for love and healing and thank ALL our service men and women. We will never forget your sacrifice to our country.

To all "MY" Brave Rifles you are forever in my heart!

EZ dinner

I know how it is, you get so busy dinner is an after-thought. Here is a quick ez dinner idea.

Town Casserole

Brown 2 lbs. ground beef and 1 chopped onion. Drain. Add small package of cooked egg noodles. Combine with 1 can creamed corn, 1 chopped green pepper, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms, salt and pepper to taste. Pour everything in a baking dish, sprinkle with 1 cup grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and call it good!

technique tuesday - water coloring

Water coloring your stamped images is a fast and simple way to color.

Stamp with Archival ink and let dry. (clean stamp with Archival stamp cleaner after using this type of ink)

Press down by squeezing the top of the ink pad to transfer some color onto the lid.

Open up ink pad and use a waterbrush to grab the color from the inside lid and color to your heart's content!

EZ recipe

I'm always on the search for easy but tasty cookin' This fits the bill:

Baked Spaghetti

Brown 1 lb ground beef, drain.

Add 32 oz jar of spaghetti sauce, 1 chopped onion, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp sugar and salt & pepper

Simmer for 10 minutes.

Cook and drain one pound spaghetti.

Layer ingredients in a large casserole dish along with 8 oz shredded mozzerella cheese.

Bake at 375 degrees for 45 - 50 minutes

See. EZ!!! LOVE IT!

photographing kids' sporting events

If your kids are athletic chances are you are out at games pretty often this time of year. It's really hard sometimes to get any good shots stuck out in the crowd. Your kid might not be thrilled but you might want to show up early and ask the coach for permission for you to take photos during warm ups or pratice. This way you can get up a bit closer. Good luck!

technique tuesday - stamping with markers

Coloring your stamps with markers allows for more intense color. This is also the way to use multiple colors on a single stamp image.

Just color with markers and just before stamping give it a huff of breath (like if you were to fog up a mirror) to re-moisten the ink and stamp as usual.
