This episode of Awesomed By Comics is not to be confused with Episode #170, which was fully recorded and edited (on Oscar Night no less), but then infected with a technovirus and now lives in its own pocket universe where you can hear it if you listen extremely closely during the 187th minute of R.E.M. (the sleep, not the band). We're actually at a place where we're giving awards to the current week's comics, although it may or may not be the same current week when this is actually released, you'll never know. Hey friends and lovers! Are you planning to go to NYCC, or otherwise be in the Manhattanish area on Saturday? TOO BAD!

What about Sunday Morning?! That's better!!! Do you want to say hello to us and May, and maybe be part of our next episode (which yes, there will be, shut up)?

Great! Then come to Bryant Park at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue between 11AM and 1PM on SUNDAY, October 14th, where we will be hanging out and taping a show. Check Evie's Twitter feed for the exact location in the park, but we shouldn't be hard to find.

Why aren't we having our meet up at NYCC, you ask? Well apparently to be approved for a press pass you have to not have had a baby and/or have a weekly podcast that has degenerated to semi-monthly. And since they didn't reject us until after tickets were sold out, ta da! Also a park is a way more attractive and chill place to hang out than on the floor in front of the IGN Theater at Javits.

Show up, or risk being mildly judged.

No mic problems, very few baby problems, a week in which we actually read comics, a new weird sponsor, a post-credits joke and some bitching about Secret Invasion make it feel like 2010 (or 2009 or whatever) all over again! Sure there's a couple of stray nose-blows that we might have edited out in the past, and sure there's some baby yips in there and sure there's no cat interuptions, but it's pretty close to good ol' old school ABCP. "Ol' Old School?" Is that okay to say? "Ol' old" What about if you have an oldsmobile from when they used to make those? An Old Olds. An Ol' Old Olds. Now that's a spicy biscuits!

We abandon the usual categories and make up some new ones to bullshit about because frankly if we hadn't, we couldn't have done this show. We talk about all the crap that's been going on in our lives on top of having a 6-month-old baby, including an insane work and family-related travel schedule for Aaron, and a massively disappointing layoff for Evie. (and no, that doesn't give her more time to read comics, in fact she's actually busier than ever.)

Oh man, you guys. We were SO CLOSE. We got most of our comics read, almost finished our lists, were totally like "what better night to bring the show back than actual Oscar night!" We really had it all sewn up. And then Aaron got sick, and my show prep got interrupted by baby duty, and GOD I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD A HAIRCUT SINCE AUGUST. Anyway, we are going to try really, really hard to at least finish prep at some point tonight and then record tomorrow night. If we all work together, dreams can come true!

Thank you, as always, for your undying loyalty and patience. At least those of you who are still loyal and patient.

It seems like just last year we didn't put our year-end show up until several days after the year was over! And it was! And now it is again! And again it shall be next year! But from now on, we shall have an always-valid excuse for being late with anything and everything, which is this:

Yes, everyone welcome little May to the world of Awesomed By Comics, joining the cats, our dryer, and our singing Pokemon clock in the ranks of "noisy things we have that interrupt the show". Except it's a lot harder (and far more irritating to the neighbors) to ignore this one. May is celebrating her three-week birthday today the same way she has celebrated every other day so far, and the same way we assume she will continue to celebrate every day for the foreseeable future; eat, defecate, sleep, repeat.

As always with these year-end shows, we've got a list of nominee-nominees ... that is to say, things we thought were among the best the year had to offer and were deserving of mention. Aw yeah, ABCP is back with about 20 minutes of Evie, and almost two hours of Aaron and guest-host Chris Sims. We make a pretty awesomed announcement for us, which will result in a few weeks without shows for you, but it's pretty important. SMILEYFACE :) Aaron and Chris agree on Batman, Mudman, Cartoon Batman, Geoff Johns, and some other stuff. Big wins for all that stuff, except Geoff Johns, plus some Atomic Robo talk, some The Boys talk, some Jem talk, and nobody at Marvel noticed that the Bendis record is skipping.

This return-to-regular-sized episode of ABCP is brought to you by week two of the Bananarama (etc) fanfiction challenge, along with some handy suggestions of properties one could fanfictionalize. In a week with three major surprises, there are no surprises at all among our winners, as Daredevil and Journey Into Mystery take home top honors, like they both almost always do when they come out. Aside from that, a strong but creepy-as-hell start to Garth Ennis and Mike Wolfer's Stitched, another great issue of Incorruptible, and a twist in Avengers Academy that had us both beaming when we read it.

Oh, and there's a box full of ladies.

This QUADRUPLE-SIZED episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast, which is nearly 50% longer than usual, is brought to you by the Awesomed By Comics 30-Word, Non-Pandering, Juggling-Inclusive, Bananarama Fanfiction Challenge! Here are the rules:
