Greg Dickerson Doesn't Appreciate Your Cursing Mr. Garnett

I admit that being a sideline reporter is not always an easy job. You have to fight to get interviews with players and coaches, and when you finally get them they usually turn out to be repetitive and mundane. Greg Dickerson did just that with Kevin Garnett last night, but his interview was anything but mundane. Garnett decided to curse right when Dickerson brought the mic to him, and then shot the Celtics' superstar one of the dirtiest looks you will ever see....

You can't exactly tell what he says, but you can clearly hear the f-word. I'm thinking that he said "get the f**k out of here", but I could be wrong. Too funny though.

People Don't Seem To Like This Chris Rose Guy

I've never had any feelings for FOX's Chris Rose, one way or another, before. That is until FOX decided that he's their "Ernie Johnson" and put him in front of the camera every chance they got. He's really a terrible announcer, but he hasn't really had the time or training to even be considered one. He has however been a host/interviewer before, and based on last night's postgame performance, I think we can officially say he isn't very good at that either.

Chris not only decided to address Derek Jeter as "Jeets", but he continually tried to go with a GPS joke about the parade route, thus confusing the players to no end. If you hop into Twitter and search for Chris Rose, you can read some of the reactions to his stellar work....

- Chip Caray, congrats. The worst postseason broadcast performance now goes to Chris Rose. What a complete embarrassment.
- How obnoxious is it that Fox's toolbag Chris Rose?
- Chris Rose is a grease fire as an anchor/reporter. It's like casting Jim Carrey in a serious role.
- Chris Rose should be out of a job tomorrow

- I have no idea what Chris Rose was talking about, neither did Jorge or DJ.
- I hope Chris Rose asks more players how they feel and to soak it in.

I love how it took a World Series win for people to realize how annoying Chris Rose can be. My personal favorite moment from the postgame was that Mariano Rivera had to bring up the retirement question by himself, and then answer it. Just terrible.

With that said, FOX's attempt at the Series wasn't all that bad this year. I still think that Tim McCarver doesn't know what he's talking about, but he does have his brief moments of genius. And Joe Buck was surprisingly tolerable for once.

David Anderson Does A Solid Jaworski Impression

David Anderson is a kick returner and wide receiver for the Houston Texans, and while he only has one career catch, he might be able to moonlight as an impressionist. Anderson actually does a solid Ron Jaworski. Via Hot Clicks....

While the actual voice is a bit off, the cadence is absolutely spot on. He did actually get one thing wrong though. Given that the situation he described was a three receiver set, David Anderson wouldn't be on the field.

Bill Walton Will Not Be Back With ESPN

It's not a firing situation, but Bill Walton will not be returning to ESPN to cover the NBA. Walton has been dealing with back issues for years now (the reason for his original departure from ESPN), and has subsequently made the personal decision to retire from broadcast entirely. Via Sports Business Daily....

Citing persistent back problems, Bill Walton has decided not to appear on ESPN’s NBA telecasts this year, ending a relationship that started in '02. The Basketball HOFer missed most of last season because of back pain. His deal with ESPN expires after this season. “As I return after a grueling multi-year, life-threatening, life-changing ordeal with back problems, it is time to dedicate the rest of my life to service,” Walton said in a statement released by ESPN. “It is great to be back in the game. Thanks everybody -- for everything.” ESPN Exec VP/Studio & Remote Production Norby Williamson: “Bill is a Hall of Fame talent, both as a player and broadcaster. NBA fans will miss his distinct personality. We appreciate all of his contributions to ESPN and share best wishes toward continued health and happiness.”

This is obviously a sad day for the NBA community, because even though you may not always enjoy Walton's commentary, you can't deny his passion for the game of Basketball. Things just won't be the same without him.

Gus Johnson Uses An Unfortunate Analogy

Chris Johnson is undoubtedly very fast, but when describing his prowess in that department, you probably shouldn't call it "get away from the cops speed". That's what Gus Johnson said during the Titans romp over the Jags yesterday, and it brings up a lot of questions. First the video....

"First down and ten. Johnson ... gets his shoulders square! Watch out! He's got gettin' away from the cops speed. Touchdown."- Gus Johnson

I know that this is just another attempt at making a clever comment, that went wrong, but an ESPN commenter just got suspended for a similar line of thinking recently. What would happen if Jim Nantz blurted that line out instead of Gujo?

Exciting calls like these are made on the fly, but every announcer should seriously just stick to the gameplan and not try to be so clever.

FOX NFL Sunday To Broadcast From Afghanistan

During FOX's OT yesterday evening, Curt Menefee and the gang announced that they are talking the show on the road. Well overseas to be exact. FOX's NFL Sunday will be broadcasting a show for the troops in Afghanistan next weekend.

FOX Sports, in conjunction with Armed Forces Entertainment, proudly announced that it would broadcast an unprecedented two-hour special FOX NFL SUNDAY on November 8 (11:00 AM ET/8:00 AM PT) from an undisclosed military installation in Afghanistan.

The Emmy Award-winning team of Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson and Jay Glazer make this exciting trans-global journey just three days before Veteran’s Day as a tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our country’s servicemen and women.

“Our men and women in the military put themselves in harm’s way to protect everything we hold dear, and none more so than those who are stationed in the Middle East,” said FOX Sports Chairman David Hill. “It is our privilege and honor to take FOX NFL SUNDAY to them in November, right before Veteran’s Day. Amidst the fun and football, it’s our hope to showcase the dedication of these men and women who have to defend against a lot more than the Wild Cat.”

Well this should certainly be a blast. Veteran's Day occasionally becomes a forgotten holiday, and needs to be recognized especially during times when America is at war. Great idea by FOX if you ask me.

Manu Ginobili Is The Bat Whisperer (Or Killer)

A very spooky bat disrupted the Spurs-Kings game on Halloween night, and who were the AT&T Center authorities going to call to remedy the situation? Well Manu Ginobili of course! Manu's line for the night....13 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound and a dead bat....

It's not exactly Rocky chasing chickens, but bat catching could seriously become an off-the-wall training method. Very impressive, but I don't think I would have gone with just the hand sanitizer after that one. Maybe some boiling water.

Pau Gasol To Be A Guest Star On CSI: Miami

You would think that CSI: Miami would pick Dwyane Wade to guest star on an episode of the show, but no. The producers have tabbed LA Laker Pau Gasol as a suspect for an episode that will air next month. From With Leather via the AP....

Spanish national basketball team player and LA Lakers star Pau Gasol says he recently completed filming a guest appearance on the hit US crime drama "CSI: Miami" in an interview published Sunday.

"It was a very attractive opportunity. I play Victor, a normal person who is involved in a car accident and police are suspicious that I am responsible for what happened. I have good, meaty dialogue with an officer," he told daily newspaper El Pais.

The episode will air on the CBS network in the United States next month. It will be one of the first episodes of the ninth season of the series about a team of South Florida forensic experts who probe mysterious or unusual deaths.

"I have always had the acting bug inside me. What this city gives me are opportunities. I'm in the best team in the league, I'm one of the best franchises and this is the city where it happens all the movies," he said.

This isn't the first time Gasol has made it onto a CBS show. Last year, he was on an episode of Numb3rs with teammate Jordan Farmar. As far as CSI: Miami is concerned, all I have to say is YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!

It's been since 2003 since the Yankees made an appearance in the World Series, so it comes as no surprise that they're breaking out all the stops for this year's Fall Classic. Before game one there will actually be a concert, and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys are scheduled to appear. Via NY Daily News....

The Yankees will get Empire State-size support from two of the music world's biggest stars.

Hip-hop mogul and Bombers booster Jay-Z will perform his hit "Empire State of Mind" just before the Yanks take on the Phillies in Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday.

The Brooklyn native will join fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys in singing the rap anthem blasted at Yankee Stadium during the Bombers' postseason run.

"Thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee," Jay-Z said Monday, invoking the famous quote by Yankee legend Joe DiMaggio.

I'm a bit sick of that song, but it's about NYC and has been Jeter's entrance theme for awhile now, so it makes sense. Maybe the Phillies can get Pearl Jam to walk over to Citizen's Bank before the start of game three.

There's something about eating a tub of popcorn on the bench during a Basketball game that will never be topped. However, Mark Sanchez did his best to challenge, then Kansas State forward, Bill Walker in that regard. Like I said, he's no Walker....and he's certainly no Carson Palmer....but it was still awfully entertaining. Sanchez even had a comment about it after the game.

"I want to apologize for that. I just wasn't feeling very good, couldn't eat much before the game. I just felt a little queasy and stuff, and toward the end of the game, I probably should've eaten one of those bars or something.
