In the summer of 2012, something great happened.

After talking about hundreds of livesets, mixtapes and of course mixshows here on our board, we decided it was time for the forum itself to join the airwaves. And what started out as small fun little community thing, ended up being…well, something much bigger of which we can be very proud of!

But after all those years filled with specials, milestones, featured Axtone guestmixers but most importantly, you guys in one way or another, we felt that it was the right time to give the Forum Podcast a proper farewell with a very last episode.

Now don’t despair! We are going to reboot the show, starting this year. Axwell Forum Radio will continue where AFP will stop. Axwell Forum Radio, or AFR I guess, will incorporate the forum way more. I think you will see/hear what I mean by that when you listen to the very First episode around end of January.

But until that that time comes, let’s enjoy AFP with this last chapter. We conclude the podcast with a very very VERY special episode. Over the past few months, I’ve contacted those who once did a mix for the show and asked to pick ONE track they’ve played that was key to their entire episode.

It took some more time than I thought it would, but after a lot of asking around, searching, rebooting, remashing, designing and mixing we at last ended up with 50 essential tracks that tell the tale of 50 episodes of the Axwell Forum Podcast.

So for the very last time, enjoy!

AFP050 - mixed by NEW_ID (Live from the Axtone Beatport Boat Party)

So a week ago, us forum members had the ride of a lifetime; The Axtone Beatport Boat Party. Sailing through the 'Prinsengracht', one of the many canals of Amsterdam (that you can also see on the artwork), we met a lot of people including a big portion of the Axtone crew!

NEW_ID was one of them.

Coincidentally, our 50th episode of AFP was coming up as well and we were looking for something special to properly celebrate it. Well, when we heard NEW_ID's set, our minds were made up; we HAD to have this for our milestone episode! When we approached Devi after his set, he was happy to oblige! Some talking and emailing later, we can finally proudly present NEW_ID, live from one of the coolest dance events ever, on our 50th episode of the Axwell Forum Podcast.

I want to thank the Axtone crew, breakfast design & Devi, one of the coolest bunch of individuals on the planet and ofcourse you guys that supported the show for over 4 years already! November and December will see the return of AFP in full force for a final but undoubtedly fantastic run. I believe there is no better way to kick off these last months than with such a special episode like this.

Now, enough talk! It's time for you to go and enjoy to those juicy axtone ID's! Nothing but love :)

A special like this is suitable any time of the year, and with the dust still settling from the Miami Music Week, we thought it this would be a nice way to close a fantastic week of music and new ID's!

The tracks, selected by the forum, are old and modern classics that are absolutely soaked in the sunny miami waters as they have either been debuted during the happening, or simply really big!

Mixing this week's episode is AFP veteran Romain G, who was more than happy to the arsenal of suggestions together in just over one hour of memories! On artwork duties as always, is Josh Muscat, who did his best to make an absolutely perfectly fitting artwork for the special!

AFP044 - Axwell Forum Awards 2014 Edition

For the first episode of 2015, we look back on 2014. Our forum members have selected our favorite tunes. Over the course of the past days, the forum voted for the best of the best and ended up with our ten most influential tracks of last year.

The episode is mixed according to the top ten that came out of the voting period. The opener ended up as number 10, the second tune 9, all the way to the very last tune, which won it all and can be seen THE track of 2014 for our forum as a whole!

We hope you enjoy our year in a nutshell, and stick with us for the rest of 2015. We don't want to spoil much yet, but it's safe to say it's going to be quite an interesting year for our podcast :)

AFP043 - AVANT/GARDE Edition (mixed by Chris Avantgarde)

Something that originally started as an idea, a mere concept, is now nothing less than pure reality. That's the story in short of Chris Avantgarde his ever growing AVANT / GARDE label, one of the pioneers in the movement that Avantgarde describes himself as the "new generation of labels".

AVANT / GARDE her fanbase and ambassador group exist of many different individuals all over the world, but there is no denying that the Axwell Forum is heavily represented amidst the label's foundation. From the start, everyone here was more than happy to support Chris his label with her very first steps, which bloomed into the living breathing concept you see today.

This Axwell Forum Podcast episode followed a similar path as AVANT / GARDE, as various members opted for the IDEA of a special AVANT / GARDE themed episode, possibly mixed by mr. Avantgarde himself. Luckily, Chris liked this idea as well and he was more than happy to do an episode for us. After a few months of emailing, the AVANT / GARDE special was there.

I was not totally surprised that a great guy like Chris would make time to do an episode. That his episode would consist of 100 % new AVANT / GARDE ID's, however, I could have never guessed!

Tribeman becomes member, member becomes hero, hero becomes legend, legend becomes memory.

This week, we got reminded of the ruthless universal rule that everything great must eventually come to an end. Wakandacoverman, a dear friend to us all, revealed to us he must leave this forum and return to his tribe for good. A sad moment indeed. A departure like that should not go unnoticed, and I felt that there was only one proper way Wakanda to say farewell:

A Wakandacoverman episode.

After arriving in a classified part of African savannah, I finally located the man preparing freshly caught boar in his chieftain hut. After hours and hours of trying to communicate, hunting porcupine and dancing around fires to please Ubuntuklucknii, the mighty god of rythem and groove from Wakanda's tribe, the mix finally came together into one hour of african baked beats!

Ranging from Toto´s classic "Africa", the modern anthem "Kwango" and the tribe chieftain's very own "Wakanda", the whole mix is sure to give a look into Wakandacoverman's mysterious grumpy head.

So put on your adventure hats, your safari vest, your hiking boots and step into the vast open plains of Wakandacoverman's world and say farewell to the legend with a smile :)

AFP039 - Aerogames Edition (Mixed by Romaing G)

NEW_ID is a duo that is loved very much on our forum and their debut solo track on axtone, 'Aerogames' should be celebrated accordingly! And so we did. It's clear that this track is all about the sensation of flight. The majestic power of a Jet Engine, the majestic roll on the airway and finally the raw G-force pressing against your body when the plane in question takes off.

We wanted this feeling to resonate throughout the entire episode, and therefor our members selected the tracks that did so. Romain G, an AFP veteran by now, got on the captain duties and mixed them all together, adding some special 'Aerogames' themed edits in the process, into one hour of pure adrenaline.

Of course, Trinary Flight couldn't be left out with a special about aeroflight and delivered a brilliant intro edit and a rework of their already fantastic bootleg Leave The World Behind, played in their debut AFP episode. Last week's mixer SMYT also joins the party, as he uses his passion for bootlegs to bring new life to an absolute essential 'Aerogames' track and axtone classic, 'In The Air'. That's not all, because as a last minute bonus is our very own Cam Cabre with his latest release "Aeroplanes".

Truly a special forum filled episode. Many, many thanks to RomainG for mixing the episode and making exclusive bootlegs/edits for it, Trinary Flight for doing a special intro edit and reedit of their LTWB bootleg, SMYT for his In The Air bootleg and Caspy, Arun and Josh Muscat for the artwork!

I'm really proud of this episode, as it might be the most forum influenced mix we have ever had!

When Dubvision announced an "emotional" return on Axtone a few weeks ago, we at the forum instantly knew they were talking about the huge ID played by Axwell early June. A track we now know as "Destination", a collaboration with Australian duo Feenixpawl.

When a huge release like this comes along, it's important to celebrate it in the right manner. And what better way to celebrate than to leave the episode into the capable hands of two absolute Axtone veterans: Aden Forte and Josh Soon, better known as Feenixpawl.

The original 'Arms Around Me' will go into the books as an absolute Axtone milestone. The vocal sample alone already makes the members of our forum, together with thousands of people around the word, instantly go into dance mode. When Axtone announced that there would be coming a remix of this, people were curious to see if it could even compete with Hard Rock Sofa's original work. But when the rework rose to the surface, it became clear that 'Arms Around Me' was going to round up the dance scene one more time and have everybody from Amsterdam to Zimbabwe pull out those dancing shoes once more.

When we were in preparations of making this special, we suddenly thought to themselves that no other thanthe remixers themselves would be able to make a fitting mix to their rework. And when they replied positively to our suggestion, we couldn´t be happier. We knew that this special would get nothing less than fantastic, and when we heard it for the first time, we could only conclude that they sure as hell delivered.

Be ready to be taken into 60 minutes of pure house heaven by two absolute legends of the scene.

When I was planning the To The Sun special, I immediately had to think about the boys from Trinary Flight. With their AFP021 debut being nothing short of fantastic, I had to ask them. Their skybound approach to dance music couldn't fit a mix around a track called "To The Sun" any better, and so they delivered to me the longest AFP episode ever. So buckle up, and please turn off your eyelids and put on your headphones. With a deep orange sky, the sunniest destination you could wish for and your trustworthy captains Trinary Flight, you've got a smooth flight ahead of you.

Cam Cabré is a name new to AFP, but the guy behind it isn't. Under his older alias, Cam has already showed some of his music tastes in episode 009. He has grown a lot since then and decided to have a fresh start under Cam Cabré. With an arsenal of forum favorites and own productions, Cam works his way to a rather explosive finale, where he mashes over 10 axtone/axwell tracks in one.

Cam Cabré himself:

"When putting together this mix, it was very important to me to express my deepest and richest musical influences over the years. Some of these tracks have been very influential to me as I've grown into the producer and music lover I am today. We have an AFP veteran in the name of Purtnit, or Henrik Ti, on board for episode 23. Henrik has had various episodes in the past and also joined me for the first episode ever in the form of a beach mix. His style can be best described as laidback and techy, and this mix is no different. Featuring a blend between his favorite groovy chillout tracks and his own productions, Henrik did his best to build this episode in a coherent personal skyscraper of melodies and basslines.

A little later as usual, but there non the less. The new axwell forum podcast is mixed by Enric Torr. He did a mix before under his Wazza alias, and now he's back with an arsenal of his own mash ups. A big fan of science fiction, Enric went with a starship theme to reflect his journey through both groovy as big sounds he plays in 2014.

For the first time ever, we welcome not one, not two but three people under one name to the show. Trinary Flight, consisting of forum regulars Supermode, Qwerty and House5, formed just last summer via the production thread on the multimedia board. After many post exchanging production tips and tricks, the three of them finally decided to team up. For their debut mix, the trio invites you to step aboard Trinary Flight airlines and familiarize yourself with their classy yet progressive sounds in the forum of great track selection, special mashups, own productions and a huge rework for an alltime Axtone classic.

“The Trinary Flight project was born the 26th of June 2013, when Vincent Fillieule (House5) suggested in the Ax Forum Collab topic to do the Toolroom Records contest at that time. Only Rober Gonzalez (Qwerty) and Koen Vanratingen (Supermode) joined him, and this resulted to their 1st EP called “Thinking About You”, an EP in which each member let his touch. When the AFP Bauceee Vinelli got to hear the all-time classic “Leave The World Behind” remixed by us (premiered in this mix), he immediately asked for a guest mix. We then got to work, trying to shape a solid mix, in which we wanted to put chill vibes and energetic tracks, in one word our favourites but we also justify our alias with beautiful tracks like Transatlantic Flight (Axwell Remix) or Milky Way (Sidelmann remix). Hedz himself: “About my mix, I’ve to say I didn’t have to work on it too long, because the process of putting it all together went surprisingly smooth and easy! I traced an objective for myself at the beginning; To play music I personally loved and still tried to grab you, the listener, into my mix. I think it was really successful! I’ve started with some emotional simultaneously groovy sounds and some special edits of mine, then I went to some big sounds and to top if off, I’ve played my latest favorites on the Deep and Tech House field. This mix shows my influences, as well as the music I enjoy and what I could deliver in actual livesets.”

It all started with a preview video from Hook N Sling's facebook in 2011 where it said a new original in the form of "Tokyo By Night" will join the Axtone gallery. Little did we know that it was only at it's baby steps of becoming the modern classic it is today. The title alone must be one of the most mentioned on our forum. It reminds us all that patience is a virtue when being a loyal fan of Axtone Records. Now it's finally here, in the form of a rework by the grandmaster himself! With the Axwell Remix reaching the number one spot in the Beatport top 100 chart and the recent news of the original mix rumored to arrive in the summer, a "Tokyo By Night" special couldn't have been more appropriate!

For the special, our members were asked to select tracks that remind us of Tokyo her homebase, Japan. Apart from the obvious cultural or name inspired selections, we also tried to select as many Japanese producers and artist we could remember. It resulted in tracklist with some artist close to home and others that you might have never heard of. Regardless who you might or might not recognize, both will take you onto a dreamy journey into the rich sounds of Japan and it's beautiful capital, Tokyo.

Romain G's mix was scheduled a long time ago, but due to the period of silence and changes the show had these past couple of months, his mix got postponed a year later. Romain was kind enough to make a new mix, and he delivered a massive 60 minutes once again! His mixes are known to have big sounds, big tracks, big tracklist, and this might be the biggest and most varied mix on AFP yet. So we thought the artwork should express that. We went with a not so subtle, but a great planetary theme "Planet Sized Music".

Romain G himself:

"For this mix I just wanted to play all the styles I like. It was pretty hard to make them fit in only one hour, but I tried to make the transitions between genres as smooth as possible. I chose the tracks I love at the moment and tried to make a mix that would make sense, starting with sexy tech and deep beats, followed by more aggressive styles like big room or trap. Finally I had to close the mix with two tracks that represent beautiful music to me! I really wanted to keep a vibe going up and down throughout the whole set. So I hope you will enjoy listening to this mix that represents a lot my musical personality."

The dust from the huge "Feel The Pressure" release has only just settled, yet Axtone gives us another delicious release for us to enjoy. "Arms Around Me" by Hard Rock Sofa and Skidka, is an instant classic to our forum. Nowadays, the music that's out there often misses something our love for Axwell and Axtone is built on: a good groove. Although we all love the big room sounds of releases like In The Air, Heart Is King and In My Mind, we also love for releases to have a little funk here and there.

Tried to make it a little fresh from the regular stuff, but bear with me as this is the first full mix I've done in my life. Axbeach mixed by Hedz "In this mix I've decided to go a bit away from that current house music scene and go for the thing that got me into listening this genre, the simple progressive sound. I've picked few of my loved tracks for a very progressive set, with some early tracks and few techy beats and tried to mix it in a growing pace. I had a lot of fun mixing this, it's a totally different set that I'm used to do, because I usually get asked to play big room. But since all I say is boring, lets forget about it. Cheers!
