Is your sperm condition preventing you and your partner from conceiving? Consider the sperm motility treatment.

A lot of men may not be aware that they could be infertile. For generations, women have been left alone to suffer the problem of infertility. Myths and misconceptions about infertility have brought millions of women in generations long past into thinking that they - and they alone - were responsible for the absence of children in the family.

Well, they thought wrong.

Studies in the recent years prove that men, like women, can also suffer from infertility. There are many factors that can contribute to the infertility in men and some of these are grouped into physical, chemical and biological factors. While old age doesn't pose much of a threat to men's infertility, there are stronger causal factors that can take away the fertility status of men such as the unhealthy lifestyle of smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol, exposure to certain chemicals at work or in the area where you live or a biological abnormality that is preventing you from conceiving.

One of the most common causes of male infertility is a low sperm count and motility. To understand this condition better, it is important that you also get a good understanding of what a sperm count and sperm motility is.

There are a lot of men who think that counting their sperm does not hold any connection to the status of their infertility. What they miss to acknowledge is that a high percentage of cases on couples who are unable to conceive is attributed to the low count and motility of the male's sperm.

A sperm count is referred to as the number of sperm concentration that can be counted or measured. For a healthy male, he should normally have a count of 20 million sperms for every 1 milliliter of semen. Any sperm count that is greater or equal to that is a good sign of fertility and no cause for worry. However, if your sperm count is only 10 million sperms per milliliter of semen or lower than that, then you are at a higher risk of an infertility problem.

Motility, on the other hand is also known as your sperm's ability to move and swim swiftly towards an awaiting egg and help it become fertilized. The occurrence of sperm meeting the egg is the beginning of conception and pregnancy. Motility is considered as the sperm's 'quality'. Therefore, if a sperm has good motility, then it follows that is also of good quality.

Unfortunately for some men, they have poor sperm motility and this can be due to poor diet, abnormal sperm shape, the usage of certain medications and many other factors.

Fortunately though, there are several natural sperm motility increasing methods that you can do to increase your sperm motility. Some of these are:

1. One important and easy sperm motility treatment is being careful with the beverages that you drink. If you love coffee or any drink that has high caffeine content, then it's about time that you minimize your consumption of these kinds of drink. Alcohol can also have the same effect. Caffeine and alcohol can actually reduce your chances of conceiving by 50 percent. As a kind of natural sperm motility treatment, drink water and other healthy beverages to help increase sperm motility.

2. Eating healthy foods is also an effective way to increase sperm motility. There are a lot of men out there who love to eat fast foods and other unhealthy foods. There are certain foods that can be eaten for the purpose of sperm motility treatment. Examples of these foods include nuts, vegetables, and fruits. These foods are most nutritious when eaten raw so find good ones that your taste buds can tolerate and start a habit by incorporating them into your meals. Now that's a sperm motility treatment that you can enjoy and experiment.

3. Taking safe and natural supplements are also effective to use for sperm motility treatment. These pills are made to help increase the volume of your semen and motility as well. Other benefits that you get from these supplements are improved fertility, an increase in semen volume and improvement of your sperm motility.
Healthy normal skin is soft and pliable in texture. When skin is healthy, there is anywhere from 10% to 35% of water in the top layer of your skin. To keep the outer layer of skin from loosing the water it needs for proper moister, the skin has glands called Sebaceous glands and they are there to produce the oily substance called Sebum. Made up of fatty acids, sugars, waxes and other natural chemicals, Sebum is a complex mixture of skin protection. Without the proper level of Sebum, the skin will show evaporation loss, causing the outer skin to be dry, scaly and even shrivel or crack, depending on the amount of water loss.

The technical term for dry skin is Xerosis, and it is a common problem affecting all ages and skin tones, to at one time or another get dry skin.

Even infants are prone to dry skin. But with the elderly there is a naturally decreased production of Sebum Gland which can be the direct cause of their dry skin issues. Aging is also related to a loss of bloodstream flow going to the skin its skin. There are several factors as to why our skin Sebum levels become unbalanced causing dryness of the skin.

Sometimes it is caused by being in water too often. Whether it being our hands or our whole body, a job calling for excessive hand washing or bathing a lot, there usually is a result of dry skin with washing products and water combined with drying out of Sebum quicker than the production process will allow for. Health issues too like Diabetes or skin allergies and on occasion dry skin will be a sign of other health issues like hypothyroidism or kidney problems. Medication side effects are many times known to include causing dry skin. Excessive heat, cold, wind, sun, and forced air systems of most any kind are good culprits in causing dry skin when in these situations too often, and no outer skin protections in use.

In most cases of dry skin problems, we can resolve the problem fairly quickly without having to see a dermatologist. First, you must think carefully to determine why your skin has become dry to begin with. Is it your living environment or how water or products are involved? If you have dry skin because of these factors, a humidifier for the air environment, changing the products you use and good moisturizers added into your routine should resolve this type of dry skin. Sunscreens and wind blockers of extra moisturizers are important too when outdoors. If after taking all the extra efforts correcting your dry skin issue appropriately and it persists, then a doctor is necessary for a closer look for the right remedy.

Article source:http://www.amazines.com/article_detail.cfm/408554?articleid=408554&em=1&title=Dry%2CSkin%2C-%2CReasons%2Cand%2CRemedies

Pregnancy is a time period when you body goes through drastic changes like your tummy swells and your breasts get larger. This is a phase in which mothers are extremely cautious of everything they eat or do because there is a fear that it might affect the developing fetus adversely. Skin care products are no exception when it comes to being cautious. There are some ingredients that should be avoided by pregnant women. These include retinoids, which are found in anti-aging products. Although this is a type of Vitamin A but they can be harmful for developing fetuses. Salicylic acid is another ingredient to be avoided. This ingredient is common in acne treatment products.

Pregnancy results in a lot of problems and issues. Cholasma is the brownish and yellowish patches that appear on the face of a woman due to hormonal activity. Acne becomes more rigorous in the pregnancy phase. The overall pigmentation in your body will darken. Most females have a tendency to develop stretch marks during the sixth and seventh months of pregnancy. They are caused by the stretching of the lower layer of skin and they cause pink or purplish streaks across the abdomen. Linea nigra is a faint brown line that appears from you navel to your pubic bone because of hormonal activity and disappears after the skin breaks.

In order to take care of your skin during pregnancy you should cleanse your face using soap preferably a nourishing body wash. These women should also use moisturizers that have sunscreen in them. If your skin is oily then you will have very intense breakouts. You can treat them by using products that have glycolic acid and alpha hydroxyl acids in them. Your make-up should be less intense than usual. This would save time which you can devote to other activities. A foundation stick that is also a concealer is good to hide away those dark circles and blemishes. Chubby pencils are also an essential as they work wonders and do not take a lot of space in your bag. Use lipsticks that are moisturizing as well as containing sun protection agents
There are many lesser known health effects as well, including effects on the skin.
In many cases, these changes to skin are not life threatening, though they can change the physical appearance of the smoker. For example, smoking is associated with premature ageing and wrinkles. Smoking is also associated with very serious skin conditions, including squamous cell carcinoma of the skin (a type of skin cancer) and psoriasis. Awareness of the changes to physical appearance and the serious skin conditions associated with smoking may help motivate individuals to quit smoking.

How smoking affects the skin
The precise ways in which tobacco smoke damages or changes skin are not fully understood, though scientific studies have produced evidence about a number of possible ways. Studies suggest that tobacco smoke exposure decreases capillary and arteriolar blood flow, possibly damaging connective tissues that help maintain healthy skin. Skin fibroblasts (the cells in connective tissue that form collagen and elastin) are damaged by tobacco smoke.

There is also evidence that tobacco smoke is phototoxic. Smoke becomes more toxic in the presence of ultraviolet light (UV), such as is found in sunlight, and causes more damage to skin cells than either smoke or UV would cause on their own.

Changes to physical appearance
Ageing
As people age, their skin also ages. The ageing process is influenced by a number of environmental factors. Sun exposure is the most prominent risk factor for premature ageing. Although it is much less well known, cigarette smoking is also a risk factor for premature skin ageing.

Several studies have reported that cigarette smoking causes an individual's skin to age even more than exposure to sunlight does. Studies have also reported that the effect of exposure to tobacco smoke and sunlight at the same time is more dangerous than the combined effect of either exposure alone, and that women are at greater risk than men.

The ageing of skin can be measured by a number of features. Most obviously, skin becomes wrinkled. Wrinkling is caused by changes to skin elasticity and concentrations of skin components such as collagen and elastin. Differences in skin features between individuals who do and do not smoke can therefore be measured by physical appearance, or by analysing skin tissues for concentrations of components.

Wrinkles
Numerous studies have found that premature wrinkling is associated with smoking. There is evidence that the more an individual smokes, the more the premature ageing effect occurs, so heavy smokers will experience more premature wrinkles than those who only smoke occasionally. One study, in which eight judges individually rated the age of smokers and non-smokers from their photographs, reported that smokers were, on average, rated as being 2.7 years older than their actual age, while non-smokers were rated at 0.7 years younger than their actual age.

Another study reported that moderate smokers were almost twice as likely to wrinkle prematurely than non-smokers, and heavy smokers were almost three times more likely to wrinkle prematurely.

Other studies have examined exposure to both cigarettes and sunlight, to assess the relative importance of each of these exposures in the development of wrinkles. Evidence from these studies suggests that smoking may be a more important factor in the development of wrinkles than sun exposure.

There is evidence that individuals exposed to both tobacco smoke and sunlight prematurely wrinkle more than individulas exposed to tobacco smoke or sunlight alone. One study found that smokers were 5.8 times more likely to develop wrinkles than non-smokers, while those with excessive sun exposure (i.e. more than two hours per day) were only 2.65 times more likely to wrinkle than those who were not excessively exposed to sunlight. Individuals who smoked heavily (35 pack years or more) and had excessive sun exposure were 11.4 times more likely than non-smokers with less than two hours per day of sun exposure to develop wrinkles. This is a considerably greater risk than the combined individual risks of exposure (i.e. 5.8 for tobacco + 2.65 for sunlight = 8.45 times more likely). As tobacco smoke is phototoxic, this synergistic effect of combined tobacco smoke and sun exposure is unsurprising.
Another study reported that smoking more than 20 cigarettes per day was associated with an almost 10-year increase in skin ageing. The study found no significant association between sun exposure and wrinkles.

There is some evidence that women's skin is more affected by tobacco smoke exposure than men's skin. One study reporting a premature ageing effect in both sexes found that smoking men were 2.3 times more likely than non-smoking men, and smoking women more than 3 times as likely as non-smoking women, to age prematurely. The study did not explore the possible reasons why women's skin was more sensitive to the detrimental effects of tobacco smoke than men's skin.

Skin tissue composition
As skin ages, the composition of skin tissues changes. A number of studies have examined the skin tissues of smokers and non-smokers as a measure of premature ageing. A Dutch case control study measuring the extent of elastosis (a condition in which skin loses elasticity as a result of connective tissue degeneration) and telangiectasia (a condition characterised by fine red lines in the skin caused by the dilation of small blood vessels) in smokers and non-smokers reported that the likelihood of developing either condition increased with the number of cigarettes smoked. This was true for both men and women, although the effect was most apparent in men. Another study, which used computer assisted analysis to assess elastosis in four layers of facial skin, reported significantly greater elastosis in smokers compared to non-smokers.

Skin tone and colour
In addition to wrinkles, smoking increases an individual's risk of gauntness and facial discolouration.

Poor wound healing
There is evidence that smoking tobacco decreases the ability of skin to regenerate and repair wounds. This is particularly evident in patients undergoing surgery. For example, smokers who undergo face lift surgery are more likely than non-smokers to experience unsatisfactory wound healing.

There are a number of possible ways by which exposure to tobacco smoke may inhibit the skin's ability to regenerate and repair. Nicotine, one of the toxic components of tobacco smoke, is a vasoconstrictor (an agent which causes the blood vessels to contract). When blood vessels are constricted they transport less blood through the body, and therefore reduce the supply of nutrients upon which the skin depends to regenerate. Similarly, carbon monoxide, another toxic component in tobacco smoke, reduces oxygen flow through the body, thus reducing the supply of oxygen needed by damaged cells to regenerate.

General skin changes
Moisture
Dry skin can feel uncomfortable because it is less flexible than moisturised skin. Unmoisturised skin becomes unattractive and may take on a red, flaky or scaly appearance. Dry skin is also more likely to crack or itch than well-moisturised skin.
Evidence about the effects of smoking on the moisture content of skin is limited, but the available evidence suggests that smoking reduces moisture in the skin. An Israeli study examining skin moisture found that women who smoked more than ten cigarettes per day had significantly lower mean moisture values than non-smokers.

Skin blood flow
Cigarette smoking reduces skin blood flow by increasing the release of a hormone called vasopressin. Vasopressin is produced naturally by humans. One of its functions is to reduce blood flow. Studies have shown that concentrations of vasopressin in the blood rise immediately after smoking tobacco.

Skin lesions
A review of all published studies examining the associations between skin health and smoking reported that smoking increases the risk of skin lesions in people with diabetes, lupus and AIDS.

Skin cancer
Exposure to sunlight is the predominant risk factor for squamous cell carcinoma of the skin (a type of skin cancer). There is considerable evidence that smoking also increases the risk of skin cancer. A Dutch study found that cigarette and pipe smokers were twice as likely as non-smokers to develop squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, when other risk factors (e.g. age and sun exposure) were taken into account. Interestingly, there was no significant association between cigar smoking and squamous cell carcinoma. The same study reported that current smokers were more likely to develop the condition than former smokers.

The Nurses' Health Study, a large study conducted amongst nurses from the US, found that nurses who smoked were 50% more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, compared to non-smoking nurses. A number of other studies have also identified smoking as a risk factor for squamous cell carcinoma of the skin.

Psoriasis
Tobacco smoke exposure increases the risk of developing psoriasis, a rare skin condition characterised by the formation of silvery, plaque-like scales on the arms and legs (particularly at the elbows and knees). Smokers with psoriasis are less likely than non-smokers to improve following treatment.

A recent review of literature on the topic reported that women who smoked were 3.3 times more likely to develop psoriasis than non-smoking women. While no significant association between smoking and development of psoriasis in men was found, there was evidence that men who smoked at least ten cigarettes per day were more likely to have severe psoriasis. Decreased improvement rates following treatment were noted in both men and women.
It is natural to have them but to have those kinds that are so dark, they really look dirty is another thing.
Laser surgery in removing stretch marks is so pricey. Why pay hundreds when you can remove those pregnancy scars/working out scars yourself?

Often times, stretch marks appear on parts where fat is stored. These are the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, under arms and breasts. Women who had just given birth have theirs as reddish marks which become light purple later on. These can also be obtained through physical activities such as working out. Also, if your weight balloons up and down on the weighing scale, your skin is often stretched and the collagen normally produced is disrupted, resulting to discoloration.

Realistically, stretch marks cannot be removed instantly. According to doctors, these are already scars. What you can do is to make them less noticeable by lightening the dark spots.

The most common home remedy in removing stretch marks quickly is cocoa butter. This has been tried and tested by mothers who had recently given birth. It is also possible that the massaging action of applying the cocoa butter attributes to the less noticeable stretch mark.

Another solution you can try is to exfoliate. Choose a product that will work best for you. After exfoliating, use a good lotion on the scars. Some have even tried squeezing a Vitamin E capsule open and applying the liquid to the area with the stretch marks. According to them, it worked.

You can also use olive oils and coconut butter. Thoroughly massage these topical ointments on the area where the stretch marks are located. Do this religiously and regularly. Sooner or later, you will see results.

Stick to one solution. Do not go from one home remedy to the next – as to this might have additional side effects. Make up your mind which remedy you would like to try and stick to it for at least 6 to 12 weeks. If there are no improvements, then you can try another one.

Prevention is better than cure and the most effective way for you to not get stretch marks is to exercise. By doing so, your muscles and your skin remain firm. You can also eat foods that are rich in proteins, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Drink lots of water because they can also help your skin to be healthier.

Stretch marks are not hazardous to one’s health though. Having them does not mean that the person will not be able to function properly. It is normal for everybody to be concerned on how they look and although these stretch marks are located in areas that are not usually seen, the fact that you still have them can lessen your confidence.

We all have a right to feel good about ourselves and if lessening the possibility of having our stretch marks noticed, then so be it. If it also means removing our stretch marks fast, then go for it.
Butter has been enjoyed for thousands of years by traditional cultures. These cultures were people like those in Olde England, those in the primitive Swiss villages and even the Mongolians whose staple diet was milk products and meat. It is a natural healthy fat and when consumed as raw butter has several health benefits. It is not the bad fat it has been made out to be. In fact, those that eat margarine have twice the heart disease as those that eat butter. So how can butter make us healthier?

o It's loaded with vitamins A, D, K and E. Butter is the best source of vitamin A because it is more easily assimilated than from other food sources.
o It protects against degenerative arthritis. This is called the Wulzen Factor which is only in raw butter, whole milk and cream. This protects the arteries, the pineal gland and prevents cataracts.
o It has vitamin K2. This is essential for treating arthritis, osteoporosis, tooth decay, TB, emphysema and asthma. Vitamin K2 is also found in organ meats, fish eggs and cod liver oil. These foods were sacred to primitive and traditional cultures for their health giving properties.
o It also has CLA which is Conjugated Linoleic Acid. CLA protects against cancer. It is only found in butter from cows that are grass fed. If cows are fed processed grains or dry hay it doesn't have CLA in it.

Remember, these health benefits are in raw butter from cows on pasture. The rich nutrients from spring and fall grasses are the contributing factors for healthy meat and milk products from cows and other animals used for milk. Butter was an essential fat for these cultures. These people did not eat polyunsaturated fats like we do today. In fact, they were strong and healthy and the heart disease and other diseases we have today were rare in their cultures.
Their study, looking at the effect of a daytime nap on cardiovascular recovery following a stress test, found that those participants who slept for at least 45 minutes during the day had lower average blood pressure after psychological stress than those who did not sleep.

Long work schedules, shift work, increased anxiety and a greater use of the internet and television late at night -- all characteristics of our modern society -- have had an impact on nocturnal sleep. We no longer sleep as long as we used to: The average sleep duration is now almost 2 hours shorter per night than it was 50 years ago. And this could be impacting our long-term health. For example, sleeping less has been linked to an increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular problems generally.

Brindle and Conklin's experiment examined how daytime sleep might influence cardiovascular recovery after a mental stress test in the laboratory. They split 85 healthy university students into two groups: One group was allotted a 60-minute interval during the day when they had the opportunity to sleep; the other group did not sleep during the day. The researchers also asked the students to complete questionnaires assessing sleep quality and complete a cardiovascular reactivity task, involving a complex mental subtracting exercise. Brindle and Conklin measured the students' blood pressure and pulse rates at regular intervals throughout the experiment.

They found that daytime sleep seemed to have a restorative effect with students in the sleep condition reporting lower scores of sleepiness than those who did not sleep. Although blood pressure and pulse rates rose in both groups between baseline and the stress phase, during the recovery phase, those who had napped had significantly lower average blood pressure readings than those who had not slept. These results show that sleeping between 45 and 60 minutes during the day appears to facilitate blood pressure recovery after a mental stress task in the laboratory.

Brindle and Conklin conclude: "Our findings suggest that daytime sleep may offer cardiovascular benefit by accelerating cardiovascular recovery following mental stressors. Further research is needed to explore the mechanism by which daytime sleep is linked with cardiovascular health and to evaluate daytime sleep as a recuperative and protective practice, especially for individuals with known cardiovascular disease risk and those with suboptimal sleep quality."

source: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/02/110228105308.htm

Nineteen (19) of these compounds were identified, and 17 (all polyphenols with strong antioxidant properties) are found in Red Wine Grapes, including Resveratrol, Quercetin Catechin, and others. Futhermore, it has been proven that the combination of these red wine polyphenols allow them to work together, and to remain longer in the blood stream (bioavailability) after being ingested.

Extensive medical research has been conducted by university professors, pharmaceutical companies, and nutraceutical companies into the medical benefits of red wine extracts. These studies have shown many health benefits including: anti-inflammatory, blood thinning and reduced risk for artery clotting (anti-coagulant), normalization of blood sugar (for diabetes), increase mental capacity and memory, increase in strength and endurance, and even the inhibition of many types of cancers (lung, colon, skin, liver and pancreatic).

Parts of the Grape

There are basically three (3) parts that have different components of beneficial polyphenols: 1) pulp, 2) skins, and 3) seeds. Studies have been conducted with each of these components, as well as the overall combination (whole grapes), and have shown a variety of positive results. The best supplements use whole grape extracts, which ensure you're getting the full complement of polyphenols from all parts of the red wine grapes.

Red Wine and Grape Juice

A logical question is whether or not the same health benefits can be derived from red wine and grape juice. While these liquids produce health benefits, a person would consume entirely too much alcohol and calories to get the equivalent dosage of a nutraceutical supplement.

Dosages

Assuming a high quality extraction and concentration system is used, red wine grapes can be expected to achieve up to 90% concentration of polyphenols (be sure to check the Supplement Label). If the polyphenol concentration is not listed, be cautious, as it is most likely inferior-grade product.

Approximately 500 mg of Red Wine grape extract is equivalent to one (1) bottle of high quality red wine. This is the concentration used by Dr. Smoliga in his studies, and by Naturex with their PowerGrape product.

Types of Red Wine Grape Supplements

There are two (2) broad categories of Red Wine grape supplements on the market today:

1. Pure Red Wine Grape supplements

These use a variety of different types of red wine grapes, whole grapes, grape skins, grape seeds, etc. Each claim a different amount of polyphenols and Resveratrol based upon the types of grapes used, the extraction and concentration process. Each have a slightly different blend of polyphenols, and again, the total concentration of about 90% polyphenols will be the maximum achievable level.

The maximum level of a specific polyphenol, such as Resveratrol, will generally be in the 5-10% range. So for a 500 mg red wine grape supplement, the most Resveratrol or Quercetin, for example, would be 25 - 50 mg (not very much, and well below therapeutic dosage).

2. Polyphenol Formulations with Red Wine Grape Extracts

As stated, there is only so much Resveratrol, Quercetin, Catechin, and other specific polyphenols that can be extracted and concentrated irrespective of the types of grapes, or process used. In order to maximize a particular polyphenol, it must be specifically added.

Products such as Vindure 900, for example, add an additional 400 mg of Resveratrol and 100 mg of Quercetin, which means you're getting the Resveratrol-equivalent of over 100 bottles of red wine in a single daily dosage

Recommendations

According to Dr. Joseph Maroon in an article published by Bottom Line Health, in September 2009 (Prevent killer Diseases), "because Resveratrol absorption is thought to be enhanced when combined with other natural polyphenols, a mixed-polyphenol supplement is best." [Dr. Maroon is a professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and author of The Longevity Factor

Red Wine Grape Studies (reference)

Grape extract and Resveratrol improves endurance and memory. In 2006, 54 sedentary adults were given a mixture of 400 mg red wine grape extract, 400 mg of Resveratrol, and 100 mg of Quercetin. Results included improved (decreased) submaximal heart rate, improved neurocognitive performance, and improved memory. By Dr. James Smoliga of Marywood University. A second study is underway with 400 mg of only pure whole red wine grape extract.

Grape extract improves athletic performance and recovery. A group of twenty athletes, aged between 18 and 34 took part in the study in 2005, a collaboration between researchers from Avantage Nutrition and the French Agronomic Research Institute (INRA). the athletes were given 400mg of Bordeaux extract per day. Results indicate that the grape extract could reduce the risk of muscular damage, improve the explosive sports performance during effort, improve recovery capacity after effort, and improve the antioxidant status in athletes.

Grape extract reduces heart disease risk. Conducted by UC Davis cardiovascular researchers in 2006, the study was the first human clinical trial to assess the effect of grape extract on people with metabolic syndrome, a combination of risk factors that increase the risk for heart disease, including high blood pressure, excess abdominal body weight, high blood cholesterol fats and high blood sugar. In 24 patients, the extract lowered blood pressure by 8-12 points.

Grape extract reduces incidence of heart attacks. A study at the University of Wisconsin of 15 adults with coronary artery disease discovered that the flavenoids in red grapes may prevent cardiovascular events. A 14 day supplementation improved endothelial function and reduced the susceptibility of LDL cholesterol to oxidation.

Article Source: [http://EzineArticles.com/?Red-Wine-Grape-Extracts-and-Health-Benefits&id=3020169] Red Wine Grape Extracts and Health Benefits

Consumption of hhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifigh calorie foods such as fried foods, bakery items, sweets, and chocolates (junk foods) available in very attractive tasty presentations, is clearly the cause of this malady.

Is there a role of heredity? Yes, I am sure you have many friends who can eat any amount of junk food but still are under weight, where as some of you find it extremely difficult to reduce weight inspite of sincere dieting. This is due to the hereditary tendency. The under weight families are called rapid metabolizers and the obese are slow metabolizers. Please remember that it is more important to reduce the weight if you have a strong tendency in the family for overweight although you need to try a little harder.

Where do we start? All obese people know what you need to do. It is very simple information to know- avoid high calorie food, eat more fiber and exercise more. But why is it so difficult to reduce weight? It is all in your mind. Mind controls every function of the body. There are two centers in the brain (hypothalamus) that are responsible for sensing the hunger (appetite center) and fullness after eating (satiety center). These two centers function in perfect coordination under hehttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifalthy, natural conditions to maintain normal weight. The functioning of these lower centers is modifiable by our mind (higher brain centers - cortex ). In other words, in human race the eating habit is more controlled by the state of the mind than by the instinct of hunger unlike animals. Gluttony and Obesity are unknown in animals (except pets) .Since it is all in the mind and we have the freedom at the mind level to eat more or less we should be able to control our eating habits through voluntary awareness rather than as a reflex. But as one becomes guided by the weakness of sense pleasure (taste buds) the control is lost and he becomes a slave to the cravings. If the mind is disturbed due to long standing stress and speed, it can lead to abnormal eating pattern. Thus, loss of control over emotions results in disturbed balance of appetite - satiety centers. It is a common experience that you may gain or lose a lot of weight if you are depressed or anxious. Hence the most important component in management of obesity is mind management. Yoga is the right tool to develop a healthy and happy way of controlling the weight through chittavritti nirodhah. (mastery over the mind is yoga).

NAVASANA

Bring the hands by the side of the body

Inhale deeply and raise the legs, hands and trunk off the ground.

Keep the legs at an angle of about 30° to 35° from the floor and the top of the head in line with toes. Simultaneously, raise the hands at the shoulder height parallel to the ground. Look towards the toes. Exhale slowly and lower the legs, head and trunk.

Repeat 10 times, relax in Savasana.

Note

In the final position, the balance of the body rests on the buttocks and no part of the spine should touch the floor. Do not hold the breath during this practice.

Courtesy: http://www.healthandyoga.com A popular website that helps you find natural solutions for complete health and detoxification.Discover health and beauty…. A pregnancy is a roller coaster of emotions and an experience that most women never forget. The joy of bringing new life into the world far outweighs the many challenges you go through during the 9 months. When the dust settles and the excitement of the new addition to the family normalizes you can start settling down again and one of the big challenges you are faced with is in getting your body back to its former glory.

Women who fail to act after their pregnancy usually pay the long term price. The real secret is to act quickly and to start working on the 2 main issues you will face namely stretch marks and weight loss. Lets look at these 2 separately.

Stretch Marks:
This is a problem that almost all women face when their skin expands to its very limit during pregnancy. The main area that is affected is the belly but some women also get stretch marks on the breasts. These marks are small scars that is caused by the skin "tearing". Although there is no quick fix apart from surgery you can use creams and even laser treatments. It can take time but eventually you can get rid of these marks completely.

Weight Loss:
During your pregnancy you will gain weight. This is partly natural and partly due to the fact that you eat much more than usual. On top of this you are much less active when pregnant which means you will gain much more weight than usual. Its important that you start a weight loss program as soon as possible but more than anything you need to get active again. By simply starting to walk you can slowly start building your fitness to a point where you can exercise. Its by far the quickest and easiest way to lose weight. Be careful of diets though because if you are breastfeeding it can be unhealthy for you and your baby.

It helped a lot in decreasing the unemployment rate particularly in the Philippines. However, there are issues today regarding the health problems of call center agents that should be addressed by every contact center management.

Working in a contact center company may sound easy because a Bachelor's degree is not a requirement. All it takes is for one to speak fluently like Americans or British, and you get a good paying job. Apparently, a call center job makes an agent unhealthy if proper working habit is not being measured. This nocturnal job gives drastic changes to the life of a young professional and may be hazardous to your health if safety measures are not being practiced.

Regular night shifts, longer hours of work, sitting for a few hours while talking over the telephone and reading pre-scripted conversations from a computer, the incredibly high work targets and quotas, manage an irate caller, the coffee and cigarette, this is the life of a common call center agent. Where every minute counts for every agent, from the moment he or she logs in to the computer, a 15 minute break before dinner for a coffee and cigarette, a one hour break for a heavy meal, and another 15 minute break before the end of the shift. This performance monitoring contributes a whopping stress on the life of an agent.

Working at night on a regular basis gives drastic change to ones biological clock. This turned out to be the major cause of health-related problem of an agent. This causes insomnia to most people who have sleeping difficulties during daytime. It can easily be treated once you seek an advice from a doctor. However, it may lead to chronic insomnia if you do not address well to this kind of illness. This is a primary severe disorder that could last longer than 1 month and maybe more dangerous to your health.

Another common problem of a call center agent is eye problem. Soreness, dryness, blurred vision, light sensitivity, and headache, this is labeled as Computer vision syndrome or CVS. This is a very real problem for many people who spend many hours everyday in front of a computer. Sometimes, simply reorganizing your work environment to develop better ergonomics is all you need to do to reduce eye strain and other vision problems related to Computer vision syndrome. In some cases, a pair of computer eyeglasses may help you, but the best way to know above all is consult a doctor first. It is better to consult a doctor right away once you feel something unusual in your health before it is too late.

In order to understand the importance of herbs that increase testosterone, it is first important to identify what testosterone is. Like estrogen in women, testosterone regulates many of the growth and physical characteristics in men. Once applied to the skin, the oil passes quickly through the various layers of the skin and the underlying connective and fat tissues. The oil combines with any toxins present there, especially those that are fat-soluble. Within several minutes of massaging the skin, the oil becomes expelled through the skin along with the toxins.

The classical texts of Ayurveda indicate that daily oil massage promotes softness and luster of the skin, as well as youthfulness. The skin is a major producer of endocrine hormones and is connected to every part of the body through thousands of cutaneous nerves. Daily oil massage can, therefore, balance the two master systems of the body - the nervous system and the endocrine system. The following are directions to assist you in learning the Ayurvedic daily do-it-yourself oil massage.

Unless specific oil has been recommended for you, cold-pressed (also called expeller-pressed) and unrefined sesame oil (not roasted sesame oil) should be the preference. Although sesame oil is suitable for all body types (for external use), if you find it irritating to the skin, you may try olive oil or coconut oil as an alternative. To purify the massage oil, 'cure' it by heating it to about 100 degrees Celsius, the boiling point of water. Add a drop of water to the oil at the beginning, and when the water begins to splutter, you will know that the proper temperature has been reached. You may prepare the entire contents of the bottle at once or do so as needed.

Before beginning the massage, the oil should be at or slightly above body temperature, especially during the wintertime. Start by massaging the head, if you intend to shampoo afterward. Place a small amount of oil on the fingertips and palms, and begin to massage the scalp vigorously. Since the head and feet are considered the most important parts to be emphasized during Abyanga, spend proportionally more time on the head and feet than on other body parts.

After massaging the head, gently apply oil with your hands to your face and the outer parts of your ears.

Massage both the front and back of the neck, and the upper part of the spine.

You may want to apply a small amount of oil to your entire body and then continue with the massage in each area.

Next massage your arms. The proper motion is back and forth over the long bones and with a circular motion over the joints. Also massage your hands and fingers.

Now apply oil to the chest and abdomen. A very gentle circular motion should be used over your heart. Repeat this circular motion, following the 'bowel pattern' from the right lower part of the abdomen, moving clockwise toward the left lower part of the abdomen.

Massage the back and spine. Some areas are more difficult to reach, so you may want to ask your partner to help you.

Massage the legs. Like the arms, use a back and forth motion over the long bones and a circular motion over the joints.

Lastly, massage the soles of the feet. Since all body reflex points are situated in the feet, a good amount of time should be spent on massaging the feet.

Ideally, one should spend about 5-10 minutes on the massage, possibly every morning. If there is not enough time for a full body massage, then a mini-massage of 1-2 minutes on the head and feet is preferable. After your massage, take a warm shower or bath. Use soap only on the genital area and under the arms. This will leave a thin film of oil on the skin that is very beneficial for toning the skin and keeping the body muscles warm throughout the day. If, however, you have applied too much oil, a mild soap made from natural ingredients can be used to wash it off. Sesame oil in particular has a disinfecting action, which helps to ward off harmful microbes.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?Abyanga---Ayurvedic-Oil-Massage&id=6160212

The point to drive across is that your number one priority should be to develop your muscles and achieve muscle hypertrophy when you are in the gym. This however does not mean that you should use steroids because they could lead to serious side effects. Some of these side effects include; shrinking of the testicles, growth of breasts, low sperm count, decrease in sex drive, impotence, baldness,: women on the other hand experience the following side effects, enlargement of the clitoris, growth of facial hair, there voice breaks and they start talking like men, irregularity in there menses, and baldness, The other ailments which occur are enlargement of the heart, stiffening of the arteries, enlargement of the prostrate, liver conditions, acne, heart ailments , kidney problems and muscle tear, people become aggressive, suicidal, depressed and also suffer from severe cases of insomnia.

In order to build muscles the natural way you should observe the following tips;

1. Lift weights three to four days a week and no more
If you extend the amount of days you lift weights for more than four days you will be overtraining. This is very detrimental to you as a bodybuilder because you will be promoting catabolism.

2. Your workout session should not go for more than 40 minutes
The maximum time you require in the gym to stimulate muscle growth is 40 minutes. If you extend this time you will be promoting catabolism and this will make you lose the muscles which you had already gained. When you start training you should ensure therefore that the first forty minutes are very intense because this is the only time that the muscles are capable of responding to significant muscle growth.

3. Use free weight with compound movements
There are various compound movements you need to include in your training regimen such as; dead lifts, military presses, squats, bench presses, rows and chin ups. You should perform these compound movements using free weights so that you can be able to stimulate great muscle development.

4. Always stay committed to your training
The determining factor as to whether you are going to achieve your goal as a bodybuilder is your attitude. If you are not committed to achieving your bodybuilding goal then you will be unable to succeed. In bodybuilding commitment plays a very significant role as to whether you are going to stick to a particular training regimen. Even if you feel that the training is very stressing you need to maintain your commitment because you know at the end of it all you are the one who is going to gain.

5. Eat a proper diet
The other determining factor as to whether you are going to achieve your goal as a bodybuilder is the diet you eat. As a bodybuilder you need to go on a special diet for you to be able to grow your muscles. Your diet should include proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fat.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?Bodybuilding-the-Natural-Way&id=2397106

The Indian Gooseberry belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family. This fruit is ripe in autumn season in wet forest of hill areas in Indian subcontinent. In India it is considered as a sacred tree. The fruit is very nourishing. It tastes sour. Both dried and fresh fruits can be used.

It provides remedies for many diseases so it is widely used in ayurvedic medicines. Gooseberry is very rich in Vitamin C. It contains many minerals and vitamins like Calcium, Phosphorus, Iron, Carotene and Vitamin B Complex. Amla is also a powerful antioxidant agent. Many health problems are conduced by oxidative damage (when body cells use oxygen they produce by-products that can cause damage). Antioxidant agents prevent and repair such damages. Vitamin C is a good antioxidant agent and so is Gooseberry.

The health benefits of amla include the following:

Hair care: Amla is used in many hair tonics. It enriches hair growth and hair pigmentation. It strengthens roots of hair , maintains color and luster. Eating fresh fruit or applying its paste on hair roots improves hair growth and color. Amla oil is very popular in India as it serves as a very good hair growth booster thereby preventing hair loss.

Eye care: Taking Gooseberry juice with honey is good for improving eyesight. It improves nearsightedness and cataract. It reduces intraocular tension.

Diabetes: Gooseberry contains chromium. It has a therapeutic value in diabetics. Indian Gooseberry or Amla stimulate the isolated group of cells that secrete the hormone insulin. Thus it reduces blood sugar in diabetic patient.

Heart disease: Gooseberry strengthens heart muscles. So heart pumps blood flawless throughout the body.

Infection: Due t o its antibacterial and astringent attributes the Indian Gooseberry protects against infection. It improves body resistance.

Diarrhea and dysentery: Due to its strong, cooling and laxative properties Gooseberry is useful for remedies for diarrhea and dysentery. It is a great relief for gastric syndrome and hyperchlorhydria (burning sensation in abdomen).

Improving appetite: Consuming Gooseberry powder with butter and honey before meal improves appetite. It helps in balancing Nitrogen level and thus increases weight in a healthy way.

Anti aging: Amla prevents health related hyperlipidaemia through attenuating oxidative stress in the ageing process.

The fresh fruit contains more than 80% water, protein, minerals, carbohydrates and fiber. It is also used as remedies for fever, liver disorder, indigestion, anemia, urinary problems, respiratory problems, cerebral, gastro and cardiovascular illness. Gooseberry lowers cholesterol level. It increases red blood cell production and strengthens teeth and nails. So the Indian gooseberry or Amla as a fresh fruit or juice or in dried form is much good for your health.

Doctors have long held that men with prostatecancer should not be given testosterone because the hormone might fuel tumor growth. But a small study adds to evidence that the fear may be overblown, at least in patients without evidence of recurrent or metastatic disease.

Researchers studied 13 men with scores of 6 or 7 on the 10-point Gleason scale, indicating mildly to moderately aggressive prostate cancer. They all initially chose watchful waiting rather than treatment for their cancers. All the men had low testosterone.

The men received testosterone therapy for an average of two and a half years, and had periodic prostate biopsies. None of their cancers progressed or spread to other organs. One subject whose score had increased to 7 from 6 had his prostate removed, but the final pathological exam found no aggressive disease.

The authors acknowledge that the study, published in the April issue The Journal of Urology, was small and retrospective. Still, it is the first to use biopsies to monitor the effects of testosterone in men with untreated, localized prostate cancer.

The lead author, Dr. Abraham Morgentaler, an associate clinical professor of surgery at Harvard, said that the findings of this and other recent studies suggest that the risks of testosterone therapy may have been exaggerated.

Modern science supports many health claims of the ancients while also revealing newly discovered benefits of garlic. The strong bioactive components that support cardiovascular and immune system health are well known; yet many are unaware of the superior nutritional properties of garlic, which make this common bulb a truly supernatural food.

Native to central Asia, garlic has been grown for over 5000 years. Garlic was revered by the ancient Egyptians, who appear to have been the first to have cultivated this plant. Not only was garlic considered sacred and placed in the tombs of Pharaohs, but it was also used for strength and endurance. Ancient Greek and Roman athletes used garlic before sporting events while soldiers ate it before battle. Hippocrates, considered to be the "Father of Medicine," used garlic to heal cancerous tumors.

Garlic (Allium sativum) is a member of the lily family and is rich in sulfur compounds including thiosulfinates, sulfoxides, and dithiins. These sulfuric elements are what give garlic its odor but also many of its health enhancing benefits. Garlic sulfides create hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S), which helps to dilate blood vessels. This dilation helps to keep blood pressure under control. Furthermore, these same sulfur elements assist in iron metabolism and are a potent protector against oxidative damage and high cholesterol.

Garlic has very strong antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiviral properties. The antibacterial action of garlic makes it an ideal substitute for dangerous antibiotics while the antifungal attributes help to manage Candida albicans. Garlic helps to fight such illness as colds, flu, bronchitis, chicken pox, and urinary tract infections. Incredibly, many documented cases have been reported of tape worm expulsion after the consumption of one clove of garlic per day for a month.

Several epidemiological studies found that the ingestion of garlic reduced stomach and colon cancer risk. In a study of 40,000 postmenopausal women, those who had a consistent intake of garlic had almost a 50% reduction in colon cancer risk. Cancer cells are vulnerable to the allyl sulfur compounds present in garlic which slows and even prevents the growth of tumors.

Not only does garlic contain high levels of sulfur-containing, health enhancing elements, but it is also an excellent source of micro-nutrients. Garlic yields high levels of manganese, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. This herb is also a very good source of protein and thiamin (vitamin B1) along with phosphorus, selenium, calcium, potassium, and copper.

To benefit from the compounds in garlic, a few guidelines are helpful. Crushing or chopping activates an enzymatic process that converts alliin into allicin. Allicin is the component that is responsible for a majority of the health benefits of garlic. For maximum allicin activation, allow the crushed or chopped garlic to sit for ten minutes to complete the enzymatic process. Avoid boiling or cooking whole garlic cloves as this deactivates the enzymes. If cooking is required, do not expose to heat for longer than five minutes.

As a potent tool in the prevention and healing of illness, garlic proves to be a timeless ally for robust health.
It sits in front of the rectum and directly below the bladder. The prostate is an integral part of the male reproductive tract. It produces fluid that helps to move the sperm through the urethra during sexual climax.

The prostate surrounds the urethra where the urethra connects to the bladder. During puberty, the prostate expands evenly. The enlargement that occurs in the second half of life is concentrated in the part of the gland next to the urethra. As the gland gets bigger, it interferes with the flow of urine out of bladder. That makes the bladder work harder to empty urine. Eventually, the bladder becomes thicker and can start having too many contractions. Over time, this extra effort causes the bladder muscle to weaken, and all the urine cannot be emptied. The combination of these problems leads to discomfort and complications.

An enlarged prostate can make it more difficult to urinate. Not all men who have an enlarged prostate experience symptoms. However, about one fourth of all men in the United States report some trouble urinating.

At first, symptoms may be mild because the bladder muscle is able to compensate for the pressure from the enlarged prostate on the urethra.

The pressure of the prostate on the urethra causes an interrupted or weak stream of urine. Other symptoms include:

Difficulty starting to urinate

Continuing to dribble after urination

A feeling that you have not completely emptied your bladder

The severity of these problems depends on how much the prostate is putting pressure on the urethra.
Another set of symptoms happens when the urine that collects in the bladder causes irritation. These symptoms include:

Painful urination

A frequent need to empty the bladder, especially at night

A feeling of urgency that accompanies the sensation to urinate

Potentially serious complications can occur if the bladder does not empty completely. The stagnant urine is a prime environment for the growth of bacteria, which can cause frequent urinary-tract infections. Also, urinary stones can form in the bladder lining due to an accumulation of debris and chemicals. Broken blood vessels can cause blood in the urine, often because of torn or enlarged veins on the inner surface of the prostate. Blood in the urine also can be caused by the sudden stretching of the bladder wall, which compromises its blood flow. If left untreated, so much urine can be retained in the bladder that urine backs up into the kidneys, which can cause the kidneys to malfunction.

The practice of hatha yoga, which involves deep breathing, stretching and strengthening exercises, and meditation, has helped many of my BPH patients feel better. The exercises improve circulation of blood and lymph throughout the body and can stimulate the release of feel-good hormones known as endorphins. The deep breathing and meditative aspects of yoga can reduce stress and tension, which will improve your general health and well-being.

YOGANIDRASANA

Nidra means sleep. Yoganidra is a state between sleep and wakefulness. It is also the name given to the sleep of visnu at the end of a yuga, an age of the world.

In this pose the legs are interlaced behind the back of the neck and the hands are clasped behind the back which rests on the ground. The legs form the yogi's pillow and the back is his couch. The practice of this pose warms up the body very rapidly. It is therefore used by yogis living at high altitude to keep warm.

Technique

Lie flat on the back on the floor.

Bend both knees and bring the legs over the head.

Exhale, move the right leg from behind the right shoulder by holding the right foot with both the hands and placing it well behind the back of the neck, as in Eka pada siraasana.

Maintain the position of the right leg, breathing in several times.

Exhale and with the help of the left palm move the left leg behind the left shoulder and place it under the right leg. Lock the feet at the ankles.

Lift the shoulders well up, move the arms behind the back and clasp the fingers. Te back of the upper arms will be in contact with the back of the thighs. Take a few breaths.

Exhale, lift the chest well up and stretch the neck back. this is the final position which is the reverse position of sputa Kurmasana). Stay in the pose for 30 to 60 seconds, trying to breathe normally.

Exhale and release the hand grip behind the back and the leg grip behind the neck.

Relax on the floor, keeping the legs straight for some time.

Then repeat the pose for the same length of time, first placing the left leg behind the back of the neck with right leg under it.

Loosen the hand and leg grips and relax on the floor.

Do not cross both legs first and the move them behind the neck. This will not give the correct feel of asana. Remember to bring one leg behind the back of the neck and then the other leg under the first one. Before resting the legs behind the necks, raise the neck and dorsal region and also extend the shoulders, so that the latter do not get wedged between the chest and the legs .This will ensure that the pose is correct.

Effects

In this pose the spine is given a full forward stretch and one feels a pleasing sensation in the back. It is one of the best front bending poses. Even the maximum stretch of paschimottonasana does not give the same feeling of right exercise, comfort and rest as the correct practice of yoganidrasana.

In the back bending poses the lungs and the abdominal muscles are given maximum expansion. In this asana the lungs and the abdominal muscles are contracted to the full. In a short time, the practice of the pose tones the kidneys, liver, spleen, intestine, gall bladder, prostrates and the urine bladder. The abdominal organs will be free from diseases by continued practice of this pose. It also exercises the gonads and releases energy and vitality in this system. The nerves will be rested and release energy and vitality in the system. The nerves will be rested and energy will be stored in the body for better thinking and better work.
Once derided as useless, the practice of stretching, breathing and challenging your body's flexibility and stamina has become more widespread, as has information on its health benefits.

One of the most interesting areas of information to come out of relevant studies is the reduction in stress. Historically stress is a major cause for employee sick time, heart disease, and family breakdown and is a major 'silent killer', as a contributing factor to cardiovascular disorder (CVD). Stress can be seen as a symptomatic response to the things going on around us, which are physical and mental responses to our situations. Tearful or angry outbursts by overextended people, metabolism problems, increased skin conductivity (a measure of response to stress), problems with distressing via exercise because of tenseness or muscle strains, and high blood pressure, are all areas where yoga can help. Yoga lowers your stress levels and has surprising other health benefits, which, in their way, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Why is it important to lower stress?

A major factor in cardiovascular disorders is high blood pressure, which is treated with beta blockers and other medication. High blood pressure is a leading cause of heart attacks, and in some risk factor lists it ranks above high cholesterol, poor diet or diabetes. When left unchecked, high blood pressure can cause embolism, stroke or heart failure.

Lowering the stress of someone with high blood pressure is an incredibly important element of their regimen, which is why a recent overview of 70 yoga clinical studies from the past 35 years may hold the breakthrough to supporting people into choosing a low cost, no side effect alternative to their current treatment plans. Yoga gives them the opportunity to increase body flexibility, posture and relaxation, and has some interesting separate health benefits.

Scientific observations of using Yoga to lower stress

The observations in the study showed a manifold drop in stress, obesity, blood pressure, free radicals, bad cholesterol and an increase in antioxidants, markers of good cardio-respiratory function, breathing regulation and more. All of these show promise in fighting heart disease and stress related problems. Of the 51 studies, the following data was collated:

* The research by Dr Innes identified a core set of 42 studies that investigated yoga in relation to cardio-vagal response; specifically, the vagus nerve and its ability to lower the heart rate. These studies showed that those who practiced yoga for a long period time had significant reduction in cortisol concentrations and respiratory and heart rates. Cortisol is a chemical that the body produces in response to anxiety and stress, amongst a set of other 'stress' related chemicals, and is believed to suppress immune response and cause an increase in both blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
* Skin conductance was reduced and cardiovascular response to stress in general was far more favorable. Renin, an enzyme that controls blood pressure, was reduced as well.
* Changes were also noted in adrenal gland secretions, which in turn lead to a drop in blood pressure as these 'fight or flight' chemicals were reduced. Overall, the heart and respiratory rate at rest and after exercise were more favorable in all groups involved in these studies, whether healthy or hypertensive, adult or child.
* Out of 37 studies, 28 reported improvement in blood pressure. Specifically, healthy adults and those with hypertension who practiced Raja yoga meditation exhibited reduced diastolic pressure.
* Mental and physical wellbeing and the chemicals associated with them were increased, as was the body's production of antioxidants, which eliminate free radicals in the body and protect the skin.
* Sleep, posture and energy levels also improved, which in the chronically ill or disabled is a good sign, as yoga is a fairly inclusive exercise regimen - anyone can take part, with supervision, and join in at one of the levels. Yoga creates a feeling of well being that counters the effects of stress, which in turn supports the lowering of blood pressure. Increased and appropriate sleep also supports a better stress response as you are less likely to feel overwhelmed or under pressure if you are clear headed, and this by itself lowers stress.

All of these elements feed from the positive changes in the cardio-vagal system to your mental and physical responses, which in turn supports the lowering and mitigation of risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease. But it doesn't end there.

Physical signs that Yoga helps the body

Studies have suggested that yoga, in all forms, supports the lowering of bad cholesterol and increases the good cholesterol, while lowering triglyceride levels. Triglycerides are a specific molecule contained in animal and vegetable fats. Unused triglycerides are stored as fat. Historically we are consuming far more of these than any other time in recorded existence, which is why many people believe dietary issues need to be addressed at the forefront of ending heart disease. Ideally an adult should have less than 100 mg/dL of LDL's, which is also referred to as bad cholesterol , and more than 50mg/dL of HDLs, known as good cholesterol . Yoga appears to reduce total cholesterol by up to 25%. Specifically, it lowers triglycerides by up to almost 30% and decreases LDL by up to 26%.

This in turn leads to weight loss and better body composition. It is common sense that less weight means less pressure on joints and less stress on your heart. Moreover, posture-improving routines can increase blood flow. Eighteen studies from six countries focused on these elements and the results suggested that there was an improvement in both body composition and posture after short and long term yoga exercises, plus between 1.5% and 13.6% weight loss. These studies were far reaching, covering those with and without CVD factors and diabetes.

What this means for your health?

While the studies are still waiting conclusive controlled testing, this information, which has been collected over a period of 34 years, clearly shows that yoga has considerable health benefits. With no barriers to entry, no known side effects and with a reputable instructor, it cannot harm anyone's health. In fact, with the myriad of evidence-based results collected in these studies there is no reason not to recommend yoga to anyone who is struggling with traditional exercise, stress, or needs to lose weight. Very few other exercises combine low cost, low entry barrier and high results as yoga does. While the final studies are underway into exactly how yoga affects our health and wellness, there is no reason not to give it a try yourself.
It is getting more relevant today than ever before. It is the oldest health care system, based on nature's principles and logical insights.

Modern medicine's way of working of prescribing certain specific medicines, for a specific disease is now somewhat changing. The modern scientists are now realizing that what works for one, may not work for other. Studies are being done now, to make medicines more individual specific. Something which, Ayurveda has been doing since hundreds of years.

Ayurveda works on the principles of body types i.e. every human being is made of different combination of elements. Hence for the same disease, different people are given different medicines. The future of medicine is heading towards, what already has been discovered in ancient medicine system of Ayurveda. Life goes a full circle.

Human body is composed of three humors, which decide the process of growth and decay of that person. These humors are the deciding factors of the person's personality and constitution. Every person is born with a certain type. These types are known as Doshas.

What are Doshas?

Doshas are the connecting link between the physical body and the energy which runs our life. They are the gross manifestation of energy, which control the physical processes of our body. They are invisible. `Doshas' in Sanskrit means fault. In this context, here it means something which decays our body. It is the imbalance in Doshas which leads to ailments.

There are 3 Doshas- Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Every person is born with a certain ratio of Doshas, which decide his constitution. Every human has his own unique mold. -the mould in which a person is born. It is the unique mould which governs his personality and characteristics. It is nature's way to ensure variety in human race.

What are Doshas composed of?

Doshas are made up of pairs of the five elements (Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth). It is the combination of these five elements in a person which decides his Dosha-type.

Vata - is composed of space and air.
Pitta - is composed of fire and water
Kapha- is composed of earth and water.

Doshas are composed of a ratio of these three types. Doshas govern the way we look and act. Every Dosha has its own attributes and qualities, its own beauty and strengths. All Doshas serve a purpose in Nature's plan. We are born in a balanced Dosha state. During our lifetime our body type is always in a state of flux, getting aggravated or depleted depending on our emotional state, our surroundings, age and lifestyle. Too much imbalance in Dosha state leads to disease.

We cannot change our body type (Dosha). The ideal balance for any person is his own unique balance. We can maintain the right balance by keeping our body type as close to its original state. We should, neither allow them to be aggravated nor depleted, and make the best use of inherent qualities of our Doshas.

To keep the Doshas in check, Ayurveda recommends a specific diet and lifestyle for every body-type.

Here, you will be given some basic traits of each body type. There would be some traits that you will find easy to identify with, and some will seem to overlap with another Dosha. If no one type seems dominant, then in that case, you may be two-Dosha type or even in rare cases a three-Dosha type.
