Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches. Did you know that chiropractic treatment can greatly help reduce the intensity and frequency of your headaches. In 2001, researchers at Duke University found that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for types of headaches that are cervicogenic in nature and had significantly lower side effects and relief that lasted longer than using commonly prescribed medication.

Headaches can be signs or symptoms of other problems. Usually your body is trying to tell you something. It could be from stress, dehydration, poor posture, improper biomechanical function, irritate nerves, myospasm, or other causes. If you find your self getting frequent headaches that prevent you from sleeping, working, or other activities of daily living, its time to call AZ Chiropractic. We have many patients that get relief from headaches. Different types of headaches require different types of treatment. Give us a call today 480.899.9923.

Whiplash

Symptoms include: Neck Pain, Headaches, Numbness and Tingling in arms or shoulders, Dizziness, Vision Disturbances, Painful Motion in Cervical Spine, Reduced Mobility, and Constant Pain. These symptoms may set in right after the accident or a few days later.

Whiplash occurs when the head is violently snapped back and forth. This will result in muscle and nerve injury from stretching the muscles and nerves beyond the normal physiological end range of motion. Muscle will become inflamed, nerves become “pinched” and often painful swelling will set in. Whiplash often causes micro tears in the muscles and if not treated properly can leave scar tissue that limits active range of motion and function.

Joint and disc injury are another component of whiplash. The joints located at each vertebrae allow your neck to move smoothly. Injury to these joints may cause pain and swelling in the joint and surrounding tissue decreasing range of motion and function. The discs act as shock absorbers and spacers between the vertebrae. They allow space for the sensitive nerves as they exit the spinal cord. An injury to the disc can cause the discs to bulge, herniate or rupture. This insult to the disc may lead to painful nerve and joint irritation.

Whiplash can cause serious injuries in an automobile accident. Research has shown the 88% of whiplash victims can have lasting pains and some disabilities for years to come after an accident. I am sure you have met someone that claims they still have pain from an accident they were in years prior. This is usually the result of not receiving the proper treatment for their condition. At AZ Chiropractic we have an emphasis on treating motor vehicle accidents. AZ Chiropractic has years of experience in treating these types of injuries and the appropriate equipment to effectively treat you. Do not let an accident haunt you for years to come. Call us today!
