Game Review: Halo 3

Late 2007- Every Halo junkie had to replace their first-generation Xbox for the new high definition, high failure rate, and totally rad Xbox 360-for the final chapter of the Halo trilogy, Halo 3. It was the best selling game in 2007 -8.1 million copies were sold in the US.

Heres a summary of the storyline from Wikipedia:

"Halo 3's story centers on the interstellar war between 26th century humanity, led by the United Nations Space Command, and a collection of alien races known as the Covenant. The player assumes the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier, as he wages war in defense of humanity, assisted by human Marines as well as allied alien Elites led by the Arbiter."

Pretty cool? Well here's my review for the outrageous
immature grade-school flaming online first-person shooter game.

Game play:
The first-person perspective is still kept, along with the third-person vehicular viewpoint. New aspects have been added, such as new weapons like the Spartan Laser, and the Brute arsenal which consists of Spikers and Maulers. Third-Person perspective weapons like the Missile pod, plasma cannon, and flamethrower are also introduced in Halo 3.
The campaign is short, but it is satisfying. 4.5 out of 5.

Graphics:
Welcome to the age of super-realism, everything in Halo 3 has been detailed-right down to the grass. Spartan 117's armor is detailed with scratches and lighting, I even spent an hour walking around in the first level-admiring the objects! Though, comparing this game to Call of Duty 4, everything seems a bit "chubby". 4.8 out of 5.

Audio:
Awesome music, impressive sound effects. What else can I say?
5 out of 5.

Overall:
Halo 3 is a must need for every gamers daily dose of Vitamin PWN.
The horrible grade-schoolers ruin the online experience, especially when they flame you for no reason. 4.8 out of 5

Game Review: Halo 2

In 2004, the sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved had been released. It was the best-selling game for the first generation Xbox. Over 8 million copies were sold overall. Continued by Halo 3-going into the High Definition stage of gaming, Halo 2 has been improved a little by means of weapons and story development.

Game play:
Halo 2 is a memorable first-person shooter that has a thrilling and unique-and short campaign.

The antagonists have an impressive artificial intelligence and co-op mode is amazingly fun to play.

Not much to say about the storyline, except you always get so caught up in the action, you would forget the story! The cliffhanger ending leaves you aching for more-but luckily, the final chapter-Halo 3 has already been released in 2007.

Another new, fun aspect of the game is the "vehicle jacking" and new weapons such as the Energy Sword, SMG, Brute Shot, Fuel Rod Cannon, Battle Rifle, and the Covenant Carbine.

Xbox Live has also been established and Halo 2 was one of the most popular games to play at the time.

Graphics:
The game usually kept a smooth frame rate regardless of how much destruction is happening, and its animations, physics, weapon and vehicle designs, and effects look awesome. Spartan 117's armor had been upgraded and bump-mapping had been introduced. The game simply looked more realistic. A thing I don't like is the changing resolutions of objects in the game when you approach them, or when a scene changes. 4.66 out of 5 for improved graphics from Halo: Combat Evolved.

Audio:
Playing in a movie theater hasn't been better-blasting in surround sound while on a gigantic screen.
The marine's comments are annoying though. 4.9 out of 5.

Overall:
Halo 2 gives good memories on Xbox Live and with your friends in the co-op mode.
4.4 out of 5 for the heck of it.

Game Review: Halo

Years ago, I recall having my dad buy me Halo: Combat Evolved with an Xbox. I was addicted for 3 years, spending almost every hour of my day replaying the game, over and over. In my sleep I had dreams becoming a Spartan and living the life of one. Halo: Combat Evolved was the beginning of the Halo trilogy.

Game play:
Halo: Combat Evolved is viewed through a first-person shooter perspective throughout the entire game. You see and interact with things through Spartan 117’s eyes.

The game features vehicles ranging from human armored jeeps and tanks to alien aircrafts and hovercrafts. While controlling a vehicle, the game switches to a third-person perspective for pilots and gunners. Passengers keep their first-person view.

The main character’s hit points are portrayed as an energy shield and a life bar located as a blue bay in the upper-right hand corner of the screen. Damage will reduce the character’s energy shield and when depleted, more damage will reduce the health level of the character. The energy shield will recharge if the character has constant cover from damage for a short time.

Halo: Combat Evolved has unique weaponry consisting of weapons from science fiction. Human weapons need to reload and require ammunition, Plasma weapons require time to cool if fired repeatedly and are powered by un-rechargeable batteries. Every weapon can be used to punt an enemy silently without alerting other enemies. Players can only carry two weapons at once-so a strategy is required for selecting and wielding weapons. The character can carry eight grenades at a time; four frags-they bounce and four plasmas-they stick.

The main antagonist of the game is the Covenant-religious aliens with a hierarchy system. Their characters-Elites also have energy shields like the player’s.

Multiplayer:
The game was released before Xbox Live had even been created, LAN was the main choice for party gamers. Two players may also play co-operatively through the game’s campaign mode. I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Graphics:
Halo was the beginning for the original Xbox-it was the best at the time. The amount of detail put in is nothing compared to today’s games, but no one ever noticed before we had HD. Rated 5 out of 5 based on 2001’s standards.

Audio:
Playing on a 27 inch television with speakers the size of ear buds was not very entertaining, especially when the old folks next door keep telling you to turn it down-so I rate it a 4 out of 5 while listening at the sound of a freaking whisper.

Overall:
Even though this game may be hella old, I found that it was worth it to review and was one of the most anticipated games ever. Graphics at the time were horrible, and I moved away from the damned old folks. 4.5 out of 5.
