If DJ Enferno was only known as the guy Madonna picked to cut up samples and assist in remix productions for her shows, helping to make the Sticky & Sweet Tour the highest-grossing tour of the year, he could look comfortably back on an illustrious and successful career. But for Enferno, a veteran club DJ, turntablist, production guru and creator of the much-lauded Live Remix Project (more on that later), the tour is simply the natural progression to a consistently bourgeoning career.

The drive to excel has always pushed Enferno to be the best at whatever he does. (It’s no coincidence he earned a Black Belt in karate by age 9.) As a kid, years before becoming a DJ, Enferno would cut and splice together snippets from different songs, creating seamless mixtapes, using nothing more than cassettes and a boom box. Not long after getting his first DJ setup, Enferno would set up a mobile DJ unit, perfecting his skills for hours a day, and play whatever high school (and later college) party would have him.

After graduating from college with a business degree, the D.C.-based Enferno worked the corporate world by day and deejayed the clubs at night. “It was always something on the side,” he says. “But the gigs kept on coming.” As his clout as a club deejay began to grow, Enferno would see a video that would take him down a parallel path in his DJ career.

“My best friend showed me a video tape of the 1997 DMC and ITF DJ competitions,” he recalls. “My first feeling was, ‘How are these guys creating these sounds with just turntables and a mixer??’ I would watch that tape over and over, rewinding and studying the mechanics of their scratching and juggling techniques. I was fascinated by the art.”

From there, he was hooked. In 1999, Enferno would enter his first DMC competition, the most prestigious in the world. While he didn’t win the first year, he would spend countless hours working on his routines, scoring higher with each passing year, until finally winning the U.S. Championship in 2003.

Enferno hung up his battle needles in 2004, and continued to increase his exposure in the club world, touring all over the USA, Asia, and parts of Europe, even making a feature appearance on MTV’s Direct Effect in 2004. Taking club audiences by storm with his combination of musical knowledge, crowd control, and championship technical skills, by 2006, Enferno was on top of the club world with his multi-genre open-format style on the decks.

But he knew there was more. “I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of ‘performing’ on turntables in front of an audience,” says the classically-trained pianist. “I saw what Q-Bert was doing: traveling the world, performing on turntables like a rock star…like a musician. And then one day, I walked into a Virgin Megastore in Paris and saw this electronic musician performing. He was using a bunch of keyboards and samplers to create, sample, and loop sounds to create music on the SPOT. Then he would get on the keyboards and improvise to the music he just created. WOW. I thought to myself, ‘I bet I could do that, but with keyboards, samplers, and turntables.’”

Thus spawned the Live Remix Project (LRP) in 2006, a “one-man symphony” incorporating turntables, instruments, effects and samplers that combines musical virtuosity with technical proficiency. LRP draws on a myriad of Enferno’s skills—a musician’s natural ear for music, exceptional turntablist ability and production wizardry—to upend the traditional idea of a deejay “set.” “Basically, it allows me to produce music live on the spot as opposed to just getting up there and spinning a record,” says Enferno. “I’m able to record sounds from the turntables and keyboards and then affect and mix those sounds live. So instead of mixing between two turntables, I’m managing up to 20 sources of sound at a time, all by myself.” The result is, as the Miami New Times recently put it, “a tech-toy geek’s dream come true…Trainspotters eat up its impressively innovative tangle of wires and software; dance-floor denizens are moved by its democratic multigenre, all-fun groove.” (Check out www.liveremixproject.com for a sample.)

In fact, it was at a LRP set that Enferno caught the eye of Kevin Antunes, Madonna’s musical director, who happened to be at Enferno’s show after getting directions from the boss herself to look out for some “cutting edge deejays” for her upcoming tour. After seeing a video of his LRP set, Enferno could add Madonna as a loyal fan and before he knew it, he was rehearsing for the Material Girl’s tour. (Ironically, the deejay’s first slow dance was to Madonna’s “Crazy For You” at 13 years old.)

Enferno’s role wasn’t limited to performing on stage with Madonna and the rest of the band. Off stage, Enferno was called upon by Madonna to help with musical arrangements and programming. For three months, six days a week, 10-12 hours a day, Enferno would rehearse with Antunes and the rest of the crew, and create mashups, remixes and interstitials that would form the backbone of the concert. “It still blows my mind,” he says with a laugh. “I used to get a rush when a few hundred people in a club liked my work. Imagine what it’s like to see as many as 75,000 people lose their minds as the biggest star in the world performs the very remix that I helped produce!”

Today, DJ Enferno is showing no signs of resting on his laurels. In 2009, Enferno has already successfully combined his club mixing with his Live Remix techniques in a hybrid “DJ vs. Musician vs. Producer” performance suitable for both clubs and live stages. On the production end, Enferno is building on his tour experience, hitting the studio hard. Look out for more remix releases by Enferno into 2010.

Lottering first stepped onto the stage in 1997 and has since been performing to sold out audiences all across South Africa, as well as keeping ex-pats in stitches in Australia, London and New Zealand.
Lottering has appeared on several television shows, and is the recipient of numerous prestigious theatre awards.

Aready as a teenager Sabrina discovered her passion for dance music.
The legendary raves in the nineties and numerous club-events had an enormous impact on her.
In the same days young Sabrina started a very succesful career as a model.
This thrilling occupation brought her all around the world.
Dance music remained a part of her life ever since.
No matter whether she had a photo-shoot in Cape-Town or Dubai, it was electronic dance-music
which was played in the bars and clubs where the fancy people go.

After moving to Miami on a professional basis Sabrina was taken away by the
newest developments in American house-music. In the legendary SPACE she has
seen the most promising talents from the States. Back in Europe she spent
summertime in Ibiza to see the most prestigious DJ's standing on the decks
in legendary AMNESIA. Being part of both the fashion-world and the
international dance-music community deeply influenced Sabrina's sense of music.

It was back in 2005 when Sabrina started as a DJ for herself: "As a model
you spend much time in the areoplane. You better have some good music with
you." On her labtop Sabrina made her own mixes to have some good music for
travelling. On a private party a good friend of Sabrina listened to it by
chance. He was so impressed by her skills that he encouraged her to turn the
tables professionally: "You've got the global flavour. You combine the
coolness of model-business with the vibrant spirit of electronic
dance-music."
Concerning her music-style Sabrina points out: Of
course, my sound is in between progressive- and electro-house. But other
styles like Tech-Trance and Uplifting influence my sets too." But after all,
Sabrina says, it all comes back to this: "I just love electronic dance-music
which moves and cheers the people up all around the world. The main thing is
to have an interaction with the people and to give them a good time."
For the future Sabrina has ambitious plans: "By modelling i became very
cosmopolite so i can easily adopt to the preferences in different cultures.
So in first place i want to continue to play my records all over the world.
No matter whether in a club or at a huge event as long as i feel the spirit
of the crowd." Beyond DJing Sabrina also started to remix my favourite
tracks and started to work on my own compositions: "It's gonna be a blast!"

Born in 1978, Rita Ribeiro aka Dj Rita X. Craft soon discovered her passion for music. Her first steps were given at the age of five, when she started to have violin lessons.

As time went by, music continued to follow her every move. A lot of hard work and dedication, allied to her music lover spirit, lead her to the final of Heineken Thirst Deejaying Contest in 2004- where she seized the occasion to reveal her expertise and prove her excellent taste in music. Winning 1st place gave her right projection at the right time.

A unique style and amazing technical skills gave Rita the opportunity to share the decks with famous deejays such as François Kervokian, Kasey Taylor, Leeroy Thornhill (from Prodigy), Tim Healy (Electric Tease), Tobias Becker (Kompakt), Chemical Brothers, Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg, Funk D..Void, Thomas Schumacher, Dj Paulette to name a few. DJ Skribble (born Scott Ialacci on October 10, 1968 in Long Island, New York) is an Italian-American DJ, producer, remixer, radio personality and actor.
In the early 1990s he teamed up with Kamron, ATA, Firstborn, and Tommy Never in Young Black Teenagers, who released two albums before splitting up.

In 1996 he worked with Bill Irwin on the musical Hip Hop Wonderland. He also worked on Wyclef Jean's first album,as well as with another Fugee Lauryn Hill.
Skribble has released several mix albums, including two volumes of Traffic Jams, two volumes of MDMA, Essential Dance 2000 (on Atlantic Records), Essential Spring Break and Skribble's House (both on London-Sire Records) and Perfecto Presents: DJ Skribble (on Thrive Records).

Skribble has also worked on MTV's The Grind, Total Request Live, Spring Break,[3] Hip Hop Night and the Millennium Special Live.He has appeared several times on various radio and television shows, and appeared in the 2000 film Turn It Up, credited as 'DJ'.Skribble was also a judge for the 8th annual Independent Music Awards to support independent artists.

Dupri discovered the child rap duo Kris Kross in 1991 at a mall in Atlanta, Georgia. Dupri worked on various other Mariah Carey songs including Always Be My Baby in 1996. So So Def, a label specializing in Southern hip hop, Contemporary Soul, and R&B music, was originally distributed through Arista Records and Sony Music Entertainment. He appeared on a special "Hip Hop Stars" edition of The Weakest Link, being the first one voted off. JD became involved in a dispute against Eminem and Dr. Dre in 2002. This beef is mainly between Dr Dre and Jermaine Dupri, but Eminem has stuck up for Dre, and along with Xzibit, joined the beef against Jermaine Dupri. It started when Jermaine Dupri claimed that he was the best producer in the game, better than Dre and Timbaland during an interview with XXL magazine. Dre retaliated in Eminem's song, "Say What You Say", saying: "Been here longer than anyone in the game And I ain't got to lie about my age (But what about Jermaine?) F**k Jermaine! He don't belong speakin mine or Timbaland's name And don't think, I don't read your lil' interviews, and see what you're sayin I'm a giant, and I ain't gotta move 'til I'm provoked When I see you I'ma step on you and not even know it You midget, Mini-Me with a bunch of little Mini-Yous runnin around your backyard swimmin pools Over 80 million records sold And I ain't have to do it with ten or eleven-year-olds."[3] At the end of the song, Timbaland can be heard saying "Yo, this's Timbaland. Tell him I said 'suck my dick'" and Eminem follows it up with collaboration diss songs with xzibit such as "My name" and "Grindin" in xzibit's Restless album. Eminem also made reference to Dupri in his unreleased song "Canibitch." In it he and Dr. Dre run over Dupri on their way to confront rapper Canibus, and Dre stomps JD presumably to death at the end of the track. In 2003, Dupri was appointed president of Arista Black Music and moved So So Def and its artists there. In 2004, Dupri was appointed President of Urban Music at Virgin Records and moved So So Def over to Virgin. Meanwhile, Dupri also expanded his business ventures, buying into Chicago-based distillery 3 Vodka and opening his own boutique restaurant, Cafe Dupri. In 2004 and 2005, Dupri worked with R&B singers Usher and Mariah Carey on their releases, Confessions and The Emancipation of Mimi. He also produced the songs "Burn", "Confessions, Pt. 2" and the remix featuring Kanye West, Shyne, and Twista, and "My Boo" with Usher and "It's like That", "We Belong Together", "Shake It Off", "Get Your Number", and "Don't Forget About Us" with Carey. He produced the track "Radio" for young R&B singer Jarvis, but didn't release the album because his label was in transition with the distributor. He has also produced singles with J-Kwon ("Tipsy"[citation needed]) and Dem Franchize Boyz. In addition he has worked with St. Louis rappers, Nelly, Chingy, & St. Lunatics. Dupri's 2005 single, "Gotta Getcha" featuring Johntá Austin, is featured on the July 2006 release Young, Fly & Flashy, Vol. 1. The album is a compilation of tracks produced by and featuring Dupri. So far, "Gotta Getcha" has peaked at #60 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The controversial music video for the song features his ex-girlfriend, singer Janet Jackson, in an x-rated peep show club. On August 9, 2006, Dupri was listed among the top ten richest people in hip hop.[4] He continues to work with artists including Jay-Z ("Money Ain't a Thang"), Ludacris ("Welcome to Atlanta"), and Warren G ("Havin' Thangs"). He has released Daz Dillinger's album, So So Gangsta, in 2006. It includes production by Dupri, Scott Storch, and Daz. Dupri also worked with Jackson on her album titled 20 Y.O., released September 26, 2006, which was not as successful as much as Jackson's previous albums. The album's commercial underperformance led Dupri, who accused Virgin of improperly handling its urban releases, to leave his position at Virgin Urban Music. He became the head of Island Records' urban division instead; So So Def releases are now issued through Island Urban Music. Janet Jackson followed Dupri from Virgin to Island as well. As of March 2008, his So So Def/Island Urban roster includes himself, Jagged Edge, Johntá Austin, and Rocko. He left Island Def Jam early 2009. He stated the reason for leaving as. "They [were] basically out for themselves. I never was on a team like that. I was always on a team that was supportive of what I wanted to do and this time it was more like 'we need you to do this.' Check. The “blonde bombshell” is a triple threat entertainer in the truest sense of the term. And one of the reasons you can’t take your eyes off of her is your ears. In an era when success in hip-hop is built on the portentous hype of saving the genre from imminent gloom and doom or testosterone driven beef, Eve remains a bankable star who grabs your attention with her consummate talent for crafting infectious hits. She’s proof positive that hip-hop doesn’t need to be saved or resurrected; it just needs a woman’s touch every now and then.

Hence, following a successful four-year takeover of the Hollywood and fashion scene, Eve is set to drop Here I Am, a more mature and adventurous album, one she calls her best effort to date. “This is the album I’ve always wanted to make,” she says. “In the past my albums have had a heavy male influence. Not this time. This one represents the woman I am today.” And there’s no doubt that the woman who brought us hits like “What Ya Want,” and “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” is supremely confident that a mass variety of music lovers not just the hip-hop faithful will appreciate were she’s coming from this time around. “I didn’t just cater to a rap audience with this album,” she says. “I can go to the Pop Top 40 with this because it’s far more universal than anything I’ve done. You’re going to pay attention to me because it’s different.”

Having people take notice of her talents has never been a problem for Eve Jihan Jeffers. During the late 90’s and early millennium the Philadelphia-bred MC was a key component in the seminal rap squad the Ruff Ryders. As the only female in the crew that consisted of rappers DMX, The Lox and Drag-on, Eve stood out as the sexy, no-nonsense street savvy, ride-or-die chick that could hold her own amongst the boys. Anchored by chart-topping singles like the vivacious “Gotta Man” and the anti-domestic abuse classic “Love Is Blind” Eve’s 1999 debut album Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryder’s First Lady was a double platinum success. Her 2001 sophomore release Scorpion went platinum, while garnering her crossover appeal with the Grammy Award winning mega-hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” featuring Gwen Stefani.

It didn’t take long for Hollywood to come calling on Eve for her unique and commercially viable persona. The self-professed “pitbull in a skirt” was maturing into a glamorous avant-garde fashion goddess. In 2002 she made her silver screen debut in Vin Diesel’s action blockbuster XXX, but it was her role later that year as the feisty female barber Terri, in Ice Cube’s Barbershop that would win her the most attention for future employment. UPN network quickly tapped Eve to produce and star in a self-titled sitcom about a fashion designer. With her newfound celebrity in Tinsel town it seemed appropriate that Eve would release her aptly titled third album Eve-Olution in the summer of 2002. Focused more on her growth as a person through love and relationships the album’s memorable features include the alluring collaboration with Alicia Keys “Gangsta Love” and the Grammy nominated, Dr. Dre produced single “Satisfaction”.

After the release of Eve-Olution Eve turned her focus to her thespian responsibilities and her clothing line Fetish. “Acting and getting into fashion were some things I enjoyed doing and I wanted to really pursue.” In 2004 she went on to take roles in three different films, Barbershop 2: Back In Business, The Woodsman, and The Cookout. “Acting is a whole different mindset from rapping,” she says. “I feel fortunate to have gotten advice from people like [Queen] Latifah and [Ice] Cube. Especially Latifah, she’s like a big sister to me. I aspire to emulate her career.”

On her way to attaining that royal status Here I Am is another milestone to be added to the impressive body of work Eve has amassed over the course of her illustrious career. A top flight MC in any arena male or female Eve’s unmistakable, aggressive style is ideal on the instantly appealing rap-rock hybrid “Aint Nothin Changed”. Not an official single the mixtape smash, was the most sought after record on Eve’s myspace page. Over a chopped & screwed sample of the White Stripes’ classic “Seven Nation Army” the blond bombshell fittingly raps: “Had to get back in the game/to deal with some unfinished business/What you thought I gave it up?/Like I was done and over.

Far from finished Here I Am truly speaks to the growth of an artist that has transcended the ride or die chick niche hip-hop carved out for her. One listen to the hyper-chants and hard-charging bounce of the Swizz Beatz produced lead single “TK” and you’ll see why all eyes will be on Eve this summer. “I wanted this coming out party to be an event,” she says. “This record symbolizes that.” I didn’t want to do what people expected me to do.” Surely no one will expect to hear Eve singing as she effectively does on the 80’s pop-influenced “Tk” produced by Pharrell. Or anticipate her reggae-tinged aura on the breezy second single “Give It To You” featuring Sean Paul. Along with collaborations with T.I., Robin Thicke and Timbaland Here I Am is chock full of pleasant surprises.

As you can see Eve’s time away from hip-hop was not spent idle. Now considered a genuine star in the worlds of music, fashion and film, she’s currently preparing to launch “a more womanly” line of Fetish and starting her own film production company. More importantly, she looks forward to getting knee deep in the rigors of the rap game. “I can’t wait to get back on tour,” she says. “I miss performing. I need it. It’s an indescribable hunger that I have.” Clearly, after 8 years in the business Eve hasn’t lost her zest for the music, which is all the reason why this album will absolutely spice things up—for the better. Just as the old saying goes, hip-hop is a man’s world, but it wouldn’t be anything without a woman in it.
