			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Small Business Lead Management just got better. With Gmail already being the default email of choice, we thought it time we integrated with one of our favorite email productivity plugins &#8211; <a title="Rapportive" href="http://rapportive.com/">Rapportive</a>.</p>
<p>Well that time is now.</p>
<p>Lead Management for a small business is a critical process, and often it involves prospecting, following up with potential customers which more and more is done over email.</p>
<p>Thanks to the Rappportive extension, you gain insight into who’s sending you emails, as the details of the people you are in conversation with are automatically cross referenced for social connections on LinkedIN, Facebook, Twitter,or even Skype.</p>
<p>From a Sales perspective Rapportive displays all of this information alongside messages and all you need do is hover over the email address you are interested in. A great way to get a bigger picture of what your prospects and leads are doing and have instant information on people that send you emails.</p>

<p>Now from a lead management prosective, this is great on 2 fronts.</p>
<p>Firstly it allows you to research and find out more about a prospect. Often we receive no more than an email from a prospect as they are often wary of passing out too much information for wishing not to receive sales calls. This information gives you an invaluable insight into the prospects website, their linkedin profile and a bit more about their job role.</p>
<p>Secondly when combined with a lead management tool you can easily integarate the CRM capabilities for recording, looking up lead information etc And this is exactly what we have done by building our raplet to show past lead information, or allow you to seamlessly add the lead to your B12Leads account.</p>

<p>To install:</p>
<p>1. Go to <a href="http://rapportive.com/" target="_blank">Rapportive</a> and install the plugin. You must be using <a href="http://www.gmail.com" target="_blank">Gmail</a>.</p>
<p>2. Go to the <a href="http://rapportive.com/raplets" target="_blank">Raplet directory</a> and select <a title="Lead Management software" href="http://www.B12Leads.com" target="_blank">B12Leads</a>. The install process will ask you to confirm your B12Leads account.</p>
<p>3. Then just make sure you are logged into your B12Leads account and start making the most of  Rapportive + B12Leads.</p>

This may be in the form of registering or getting them to pick up the phone to you. <p><strong>1. Make it easy to find how to get in contact</strong> &#8211; Finding your contact details or filling in a contact form should be an easy and straightforward process for the user.</p>
<p><strong>2. Do not just limit contact details to footers or a specific contact page</strong> &#8211;  Many websites adopt the tactic of placing a telephone number and email address at the top or side bar of every page. This is a great way to provide quick access for visitors to get in touch and to reassure them that if they have any questions, you are available to chat.</p>
<p><strong>3. Use a chat plugin</strong> &#8211; If your website is built on a CMS platform you can easily add a live chat function that can put you in direct contact with vistors.</p>
<p><strong>4.  Include your phone number in your site title</strong> &#8211; it will show up in the search results on google.</p>
<p><strong>5.  Add links to alternative ways of contacting you</strong> &#8211; Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or LinkedIn to allow visitors to contact you via their preferred service.</p>
<p><strong>6. Provide a contact form</strong> so that users can easily send you a message without having to load up their email service to do so.</p>
<p><strong>7. Keep any forms as short as possible</strong> &#8211; as a general rule of thumb the more fields you ask for the less people sign up so ask for only what you need at this stage.</p>
<p><strong>8. Set expectation</strong> &#8211; visitors are more likely to complete a form if there is an understanding of when and how you will get back to them.</p>
<p><strong>9. Reassure</strong> &#8211; if asking for details then let visitors know you do not pass data onto 3rd parties or how often you might email them.</p>
<p><strong>10.  Schedule times for call backs</strong> &#8211; Again there are tools out there you can easily integrate into your website to allow visitors to request a call back that will work with your dairy and availability. Have a look at Tungle.me</p>

<p>Getting commitment from sales on lead follow-up is greatly effected by the issue of lead quality, whether the leads are deemed &#8220;sales ready&#8221; and whether sales people believe they have better chance of closing deals of their own. Generally speaking if you can&#8217;t make it as easy as possible and if sales people are hitting their targets without needing new leads then those leads you feed them are more likely to get ignored.</p>
<p>So why go to the effort of generating leads in the first place? Well we all know that to sustain and grow a business you need to bring on new customers to offset the inevitable churn. Sales can&#8217;t have everything on a plate and whether they like it or not you will always need to follow-up leads.</p>

<p><em><strong>Don&#8217;t waste sales peoples time</strong>  - Reduce admin,  data entry, and filter obvious time wasters or bogus leads. It only pi**es sales people off.</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Get leads to them whilst they are hot</strong> &#8211; For every second that goes by, the less chance you have of converting. Get the leads to sales without delay so they can strike why the iron is hot.</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Improve lead quality</strong> &#8211; You should have the information at hand telling you what your best and worst sources of leads are, so make sure you use this information and focus your efforts on the best sources.</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Manage workloads</strong> &#8211; dumping leads all at once often by surprise and then expecting them to get actioned never endears you to any salesperson. Make sure you drip leads constantly so they can manage their workflow. If you inundate them then you know the leads only get ignored.</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Knowledge is power</strong> &#8211; No-one like cold calling and if you are generating the leads then there is no need. Make sure you provide as much information as you can about the lead, their interactions, what triggered the lead and any history of past lead activity. The more sales knows ,the more confident and professional they will be.</em></p>
<p><em><strong>Competition</strong> &#8211; A bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone and helps no end. Sales people are by nature competitive so don&#8217;t be afraid to name and shame lead follow-up rates on a regular basis. Be careful not all leads can be contacted first time so take this into account and don&#8217;t judge them on leads they have only just received.</em></p>

<p>Successful <strong>sales team management</strong> requires getting good quality leads to the right sales person whilst providing an environment to make it  as easy for them to work those leads. These pointers will help your sales team management no end:</p>
<p>1. Identify the best lead sources and focus your efforts on these.</p>
<p>2. Save sales people time &#8211; make sure you filter out obviously bad leads. If the details are obviously fake, or just garbage then filter them, this is not a job for sales.</p>
<p>3. If a source continually produces bad leads filter them out completely or at least look at your offering and make sure it is targeted.</p>
<p>4. Create a sales workflow that helps lead follow-up. Reduce the steps required by sales to get to the lead and provide all the information you have.</p>
<p>5. Define your sales stages (sales pipeline) based the buyers actual process not yours.</p>
<p>6. Train sales teams on how to move leads through the pipeline to closure by arming them with information on how to overcome objections at any stage.</p>
<p>7. Automate tasks, and reminders so your sales team can focus on follow-up not on the admin.</p>
<p>8. Stagger marketing campaigns to drip leads &#8211; swamping your sales teams with leads every now and then does not help manage their workloads, leads will only get lost.</p>
<p>9. Move non-contacted leads to someone that will follow-up or has the bandwidth and let the sales person know why you moved the lead. Missing out on a lead to a colleague will make them sit up and think.</p>
<p>10. Create competition between sales teams and sales people by setting benchmarks and comparing.</p>
<p>11. Create a name and shame, never the most popular tip with the actual salespeople but certainly effective, watch your follow-up rates increase when they know the rest of the sales team can see their performance.</p>
