Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

2K Sports began revealing ratings for a few of the star players in the NBA. During a commercial shoot for the upcoming title, several players are asked what they think their ratings should be in NBA 2K18.

2K Sports has announced their upcoming NBA 2K18 installment in the form of a cover announcement with the reveal of one of the most brilliant offensive players in the NBA today.

Cleveland Cavaliers very own Kyrie Irving will be gracing the cover of the newly announced basketball video game. The boxart features Kyrie going for a reverse layup in front of a black, red and gray minimalist background.

Kyrie Irving says, “It is well known that I’m an avid player of this series and I am honored to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18. It’s surreal to be featured on the cover and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall.”

This NBA 2K17 guide was written to provide you details on how to unlock every badge for your MyPlayer in MyCareer mode. This is a work in constant progress so please feel free to post comments and corrections as you find them.

Badge Tiers

This year skill badges are divided into 5 tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Hall of Fame and Grand Badges. You'll earn the bronze tier after you unlock the badge, which then can be upgraded to silver and gold using VC. Personality badges only have 1 tier and cannot be upgraded.

Hall of Fame Badges

Hall of Fame Badges are an upgraded and better version of the Gold Badges. You cannot upgrade Gold badges to Hall of Fame badges using VC. You have to meet certain requirements to earn them. To unlock HoF badges, you must upgrade the badge to Gold and do the same thing you did to unlock the badge, but 4x the amount. (For example, to unlock 'Catch & Shoot' badge you need 100 shot attempts after catching the ball. To get the Hall of Game version you need at least 400.)

Grand Badges

Grand Badges are an upgrade to the Hall of Fame versions. It's a badge you unlock once you master your specific Archetype skill sets. This is a temporary badge that activates if you do a specific action in a game. You fill up your meter by getting assists if you're a Playmaker or by making shots if you're a Sharpshooter etc. Once you fully fill the meter, you will get a temporary attribute boost.

Bruiser	The physical nature of player drains energy from the match-up	Set 200 screens in a season
Lob City Finisher	Finishes the alley-oops at high rate	Finish 15 alley-oops in a season
One Man Fast Break	Excels at taking a ball coast to coast on the fast break	Score on fastbreak 75 times in a season
Posterizer	Succeed at dunking on the opposing defenders more often than most	Attempt 15 contact dunks in a season
Tireless Scorer	A player who can spend good deal of the energy without losing any effectiveness while attempting to score	Attempt 400 shots while moving. Watch the difficult shots video.

Defensive Badges

Charge Card	Adept at placing himself in a position to win the charge calls	Draw 7 charges in a season
Chase Down Artist	Terrific transition shot blocker	Get chasedown blocks from behind
Defensive Stopper	While playing the on-ball defense, this particular badge drops different offensive skills of the similarly positioned match-ups	Get 150 good shot contests and 50 good transitions
Hustle Rebounder	An elite rebounder player who is known for chasing the rebounds out of the area	Get 500 rebounds total and 100 offensive rebounds
Pick Pocket	Known for the ability to strip a ball from the ball-handler	Get 50 "poke ball loose" animations
Pick Dodger	A slithery player who can easily get around the screens	Fight through picks without using turbo
Rim Protector	An elite shot-blocker player who intimidates players around the rim and causes interior shots to be least effective	Get 80 blocks

Inside Scoring

Acrobat	Player can change the shot in air and attempt the difficult shots with some consequences	Attempt a variety of layups
Dreamlike Up and Under	Excels at scoring in a post with up and under moves	Attempt 50 Up and Under moves in the post
Drop Stepper	Has an ability to use drop step move for his advantage in a post	Attempt 30 drop steps
Pick and Roller	Excels as roller in a pick and roll game	Score as the Pick & Roll man 100-200 times
Post Spin Technician	Dominates a post with spin and drive moves	Perform 100 post spin or drive moves out of the post in a season
Putback King	Known for an ability to score the baskets immediately of an offensive rebounds close to the hoop	Get 50 offensive rebounds and score afterwards
Relentless Finisher	Takes the physical punishment on the contact shots near the rim without critically impacting his energy	Finish 75 contact layups in a season
Tear Dropper	Excels at making the floaters and runners	Get 50 runners or floaters in a season

Outside Scoring

Catch & Shoot	Knocks down the shots coming from a pass at a high percentage	Attempt 100 Catch & Shoot Jumpshots

Limitless Range	Can knock down the very deep threes better than others	Hit 40 deep three pointers and shoot ?% on the last 30 three pointers attempted

Clutch Performer	Steps his game up in big games and big moments	Your field goal percentage must be 40% or higher in the final minutes of a game
Defensive Anchor	Defensive leader, helps the teammates perform better defensively	Get Defender up to level 18 and play 30+ games
Enforcer	Can wreak havoc on the floor with tough and physical play	Pick up 10 hard-hitting yet non-flagrant fouls in a single season
Expressive	No problem expressing the feelings	Celebrate (RS) every time you perform a highlight play

Keep It Real	Responds best to a tough love	This is earned based on your performance in the next 5 games after being given a motivational-type speech in a scene by either his teammate or the assistant coach. Worse stats lead to the Keep It Real badge
Laid Back	A quiet player that generally keeps to himself	Choose the mellow/humble response to questions during cut scenes
Legendary Work Ethic	First one to the gym, last one to leave and the hardest worker at all times.	This is earned by agreeing to shoot around extra before the game with either your teammate or the assistant coach in the scene where they ask you to do so
Low Ego	Values team success above all things	In your last 15 played games (you must play at least 15), divide your field goal attempts by your assists. If the ratio of FGA to Assists is lower than this, you’ll earn Low Ego. It is possible to lose this badge in favor of All-Time Great. NBA 2K18 Legend Editions Announced Featuring Shaq

NBA 2K18 will have three editions – the Standard Edition, Legend Edition and Legend Edition Gold which will cost $59.99, $99.99 and $149.99, respectively. A comparison of all three version of the game can be found here.

Experience the life of an NBA player in an all-new storyline. Create a custom player and guide him through through the NBA, from being a promising rookie to a superstar player. During their career, players court sponsors and use social media to grow their following via social media. After building your MyPLAYER on the court during your MyCAREER, you will be able to take him online to compete on the Park.

MyGM

The other side of basketball, this allows players to assume the role of General Manager and run everything behind the scenes. Everything, from contract negotiations to food prices in the stadium, are in your hands.

MyLEAGUE

Another behind-the-scenes mode, MyLEAGUE lets you experience what it is to run a NBA franchise. In this mode, nearly everything is customizable in your hands from things like salary caps, team roster, and even season lengths are up to you.

The Association

Franchise management mode for the previous generation of consoles (PS3, Xbox 360). The Association lets you assemble a team, follow player trends, and sign free agents in order to create the best lineup possible.

2K HEROES

Created for the previous generation of consoles (PS3, Xbox 360), 2K Heroes will allow users to compete as some of the best teams in the NBA, headed by some of the most famous players. Online Leagues

Online leagues return to NBA 2K15 where you can friends can take over control of your favorite teams and compete online against other users.

MyTEAM

This is NBA 2K15’s collectible card game-within-a-game. You buy virtual packs of cards containing players, coaches, uniforms, and more in order to build an unbeatable team. Offering both offline and online game modes within MyTEAM, you can go head-to-head with other players or complete challenges and tournaments. Unwanted cards can be auctioned off to other players at the brand new Auction House.

MyPARK

Accessible from MyCAREER Mode, MyPARK lets you take your MyPLAYER character online and join one of three MyPARK communities: Rivet City, Old Town and Sunset Beach. Each community has their own special ability boost. Additionally, joining a community will allow you to compete against other communities on Rival days where you can earn special perks like earning a 25% VC bump. Within these parks, you can play with others in 2-on-2, 3-on-3, or 5-on-5 games. This year, we allow users to “squad up” to play with other friends as well as introduce teammate grades to the park that allow you to be graded on your performance, and rank up through our new rep system. Park games will reflect a street-ball style of basketball with games going to 16 this year.

Rec Hall

When you’re traveling through the various Parks, you can enter the “Rec Hall” where users can compete in 4-quarter, NBA simulation games with referees and NBA rules in the most competitive 5-on-5 games with your MyPLAYERs. You can also squad up here, claiming your stake as a squad and hold down the court against other users. This will take place in an indoor Jordan-brand gym.

Stage

When you’re feeling competitive, enter the Stage from the MyCAREER menu and ante up against others online in VC wager matches.

Crew

In this mode, you can take your MyPLAYER character and form a Crew (complete with custom jersey and logo), which you can use to play a variety of street basketball games against other players. This mode allows you to unlock playable NBA stars in exchange for Virtual Currency.
