<p>To move forward in life, you’ve sought love. But as illustrated across our country by high divorce rates, especially in second marriages which are close to 80%, prescription social drug use and alcohol, most of us are experiencing emptiness and <img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-3601" title="hearts2" src="http://beyondbodymindspirit.com/p/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/hearts2-150x150.jpg" alt="hearts2" width="150" height="150" />pain.</p>

<p>Yet love has been a universal, basic need for every human being since time immemorial. It is as vital to our well being as is air, water, and food.</p>
<p>So what’s wrong? Our traditional definition of love is conditional, meaning if I do and say the right things, I receive your love but if not, you withdraw it. We all know the pain this causes. Instead, we’d like to introduce you to <strong>the most satisfying, long lasting, authentic love ever.  Really.</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I often hear people discussing the cold weather, particularly as it relates to catching a cold.  Some say it’s the cold weather that gets us sick.  Others say it’s the change from hot to cold weather that gets us sick.</p>
<p>Well, I’m here to set the record straight.  It’s neither.  Here’s the real truth and what <img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-3577" title="Cold Remedies" src="http://beyondbodymindspirit.com/p/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Cold-Remedies-150x150.jpg" alt="Cold Remedies" width="150" height="150" />you need to know to stop a cold.</p>
<p><span id="more-3576"></span></p>
<p><strong>Truth: Cold viruses travel from your hands to your nose or eyes and then to the nasopharynx- where the nose meets the mouth at the back of the throat. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Truth: Cold viruses can survive on people’s hands for several hours and they can survive on nonporous surfaces such as doorknobs, countertops, and coffee cups up to three hours.</strong></p>
<p>So here are 10 Tips (that <em>really</em> work) to stop a cold.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #1:</strong> Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes and nose.  Though there are hundreds of viruses that cause the common cold, most are rhinoviruses which need to get into the mucous membranes lining the nose or into eye tear ducts to cause infection.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #2: </strong>Wash your hands, especially after shaking hands, opening a door, turning a faucet knob, pushing a shopping cart or elevator button, touching children’s toys, etc.  And if you can’t wash your hands right away, use hand sanitizers.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #3:</strong> Dispose of dirty tissues quickly.  And after you blow your nose, never rub your eyes with the same tissue.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #4:</strong> Get enough sleep.  Studies show that people who slept fewer than 7 hours a night were 3 times more likely to develop a cold compared to those who slept 8 or more hours.</p>
<p>But if you have a cold, here are tips to help shorten the downtime.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #5: </strong>Repeat Tip #4 and go to bed.  Sleeping recharges your immune system which fights off a cold.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #6: </strong>Drink lots of water along with tea, juice and soup.  Fluids help your body heal by preventing dehydration and loosening congestion.  I have found adding lemon to water really works magic as it shifts the pH balance from more acid to more alkaline.  And no, coffee doesn’t help.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #7:</strong> Enjoy some Chicken Soup.  Studies show that it <em>does</em> work by acting as an anti-inflammatory and helping relieve congestion, so limiting the time viruses are in contact with the lining of the nasal passages.  And no, it doesn’t have to be homemade.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #8:</strong> Gargle a sore throat.  Dissolve a half teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water.  It works because it kills the bacteria located in the inflamed throat tissues.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #9:</strong> Moisten the air with a humidifier.  Cold viruses are happiest in dry conditions so add moisture to indoor air.  Be careful not to add mold or fungi to your environment so change the water in your humidifier daily and clean it every 3 days.  Once over your cold, air out the room.</p>
<p><strong>Tip #10:</strong> Don’t overuse over-the-counter cold remedies.  Though they may relieve symptoms when you can’t stand them anymore, they won’t make your cold go away any faster.  And they can have side effects.</p>
<p>It’s best to take seriously any illness that won’t go away.  So if your cold lingers too long or you suspect a sinus infection or you’re having breathing problems, call your doctor.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ahhh, the “winter blues” – depression, anxiety, oversleeping, difficulty <img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-3571" title="Moods" src="http://beyondbodymindspirit.com/p/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Moods-150x150.jpg" alt="Moods" width="150" height="150" />concentrating, cravings and weight gain.  So many of us experience some of these so it’s worth knowing how to deal with it.</p>
<p><span id="more-3570"></span></p>
<p>All of these low mood symptoms are directly associated with low levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter.  Proper levels of serotonin are created in the brain when there is the proper balance of tryptophan, an amino acid, certain B vitamins, and certain enzymes. Its creation is also influenced by blood sugars, fatty acids and the correct balance of melatonin – the “sleep hormone.”</p>
<p>You can try to “fix” this condition with drugs but that can throw the body out of balance and create even worse symptoms. The best solutions involve using whole foods that have been proven for thousands of years.</p>
<p><strong>10 Foods and Fixes by Diana Herrington:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. Eat Your Whole Grains</strong><br />
All whole foods have amino acids (proteins) in different quantities. For serotonin to be produced you need a higher percentage of tryptophan than other amino acids in your blood stream. A moderate amount of carbohydrates will create this proper percentage. Whole grains certainly have tryptophan and their carbohydrate content also allows the tryptophan to be a high enough percentage so it can get to the brain where it is needed. Whole grains also contain B vitamins which help the tryptophan to be converted to serotonin.</p>
<p>The grain that has the <em>highest</em> percent of tryptophan is buckwheat, but most grains work well. They are complex enough and have enough fiber that the sugars are released into your blood stream slowly. This prevents the energy highs and lows which also affects your moods. <p><strong>2. Eat Your Greens</strong><strong> </strong><br />
The University of Kuopio in Finland conducted a study with 2,313 men for more than 10 years and they found that leafy greens are good for your brain. Greens are high in almost all vitamins and minerals but they are particularly high in folate – a B vitamin that has been shown to reduce depression. <p><strong>3. Enjoy Your Bananas (and other fruits)</strong><strong> </strong><br />
Even fruits have amino acids in them and bananas are surprisingly high in tryptophan. That along with its natural sugars makes an ideal situation for creating serotonin. This is not why monkeys seem so happy but it sure doesn’t hurt!  Dates and papaya are also high in tryptophan, but most fruits have enough to make a difference. Any food with a sweet taste will have a calming effect on the nervous system beyond its carbohydrate content.</p>
<p><strong>4. Avoid Stimulants &amp; Junk Food (that includes chocolate …sob)</strong><br />
Stimulants like chocolate and coffee do create serotonin for a short time but continued use actually interferes with its production by disrupting your insulin levels.</p>
<p>Ice cream unfortunately is in the same category.  The milk aspect will supply the amino acids and it has the carbohydrates, but too much sugar and fat is just a bad combination in the long run. Any of these “foods” taken in small amounts will not harm you but don’t depend on them for energy or happiness.  In fact, you should learn how to <a href="http://realfoodforlife.com/sugar/" target="_blank">decrease your cravings for sugar</a>.</p>
<p><strong>5. Eat Your Nuts and Seeds</strong><br />
Most people are low in omega-3 essential fatty acids, which have been shown to help increase brain functioning and moods. The brain is, after all, <em>mostly</em> made of fatty acids. A common way to get omega-3s is with flax seeds and flax oils. Whole seeds and nuts have the benefit of containing protein and therefore have enough tryptophan to help out. <p><strong>6.  Let the Sun Shine In</strong><br />
Yes, this is much more than a 60’s song title. People with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) have been found to have higher levels of melatonin than they should during the day. Melatonin’s effects tend to be the exact opposite of serotonin.  It causes the body to slow down and prepare for sleep instead of wake up and be happy.</p>
<p>When your body notices there is no sunlight, the pineal gland signals your brain to convert serotonin into melatonin. Normally in the morning the pineal gland then signals to your brain to start making more serotonin. With SAD, this cycle has been disrupted because of decreasing daylight hours.</p>
<p>The solution is to add <em>more</em> sunlight – by walking outside, drawing back curtains or even using a sun light. The timing of the light is sometimes more important than the amount and nothing can beat a good walk during the brightest part of the day. <p><strong>7.  Exercise</strong><strong> </strong><br />
Exercise is good for so many things so it’s not surprising it helps with your mood. Research has linked exercise with higher levels of serotonin. Exercise is also linked with increased dopamine levels, which causes relaxation, and endorphins, which take away the pain. If that sounds like a powerful combination – it is.</p>
<p><strong>8.  High Quality Protein</strong><br />
Turkey and white meats are usually more balancing for your body than beef, pork or other red meats. Lowly beans contain extremely high amounts of balanced proteins plus provide many other benefits for your body and the environment.</p>
<p><strong>9.  Enjoy Your Tea</strong><br />
Nothing is more soothing that a cup of tea during the colder months of the year. Another study from Finland shows that 2,000 surveyed Finns who drank black tea every day reported fewer incidences of feeling down or depressed compared to Finns who weren’t regular tea drinkers. The study also shows that the theanine naturally found in tea helps calm you down. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People often say it costs too much to eat healthily. When you’re trying to feed a family of four on little to no budget, it seems impossible to choose high nutrient foods like fruits, vegetables and whole foods without draining your wallet.</p>

<p><strong>1. Kale</strong><br />
At just over a dollar a bunch, <a href="http://www.care2.com/greenliving/a-tale-of-kale-with-brigitte-mars.html" target="_blank">kale</a> is a member of the dark, leafy greens group. It’s loaded with vitamin C and vitamin B as well as calcium. Want to relieve depression? Eat kale.</p>

<p><strong>10. Adzuki Beans</strong><br />
Beans are one of the least expensive protein sources. In fact, these little guys contain some of the highest levels of protein and the lowest levels of fat of any variety of beans. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>According to scientists, we humans are genetically programmed to eat all of the food we “see.” That means if you eat ice cream straight from the container or chips straight from the bag, you always eat more than you <img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-3549" title="Stop Overeating" src="http://beyondbodymindspirit.com/p/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Stop-Overeating-150x150.jpg" alt="Stop Overeating" width="150" height="150" />wanted. It’s also why many people tend to overeat at buffet-style restaurants.</p>
<p>To overcome such “see food” overeating, here are a few simple but powerful suggestions:<br />
<span id="more-3548"></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Put your snack in a bowl or plate versus eating out of the bag</li>
<li> At a buffet, vow to use 1 plate</li>
<li>Eat slowly by eating with your non-dominant hand, trying chopsticks, and chewing at least 20 times.  This gives your stomach time to tell your brain when it’s full which takes 12 minutes.</li>
<li>Don’t eat past 7 PM. It is unlikely to be burned off and more likely to turn into fat.</li>
<li> When you have an indulgent craving, don’t deprive yourself. Instead, just eat smarter and carry healthy treats. For example, if you love chocolate, switch to dark chocolate and benefit from its antioxidants and lower sugar content than milk chocolate.  This way you satisfy your craving while skipping the sugar crash and waistline bulge.</li>
</ul>

<p>Kundalini Energy is one of the most underutilized energies for manifesting prosperity. This energy when focused correctly can be used to bring love, light, prosperity and even Spirit into your life. Kundalini is the sacred life force of ethereal fire within you that moves through your chakra system. When you channel Kundalini, you can imbue power into your manifestation of desires. Remember that prosperity is an energy itself and the energy of Kundalini can be converted into the energy of prosperity in reality.</p>
<p>The physical dimensional planes were first constructed in order to give us a single moment of awareness. Prior to this, God and We (as an extension of our creator) experienced all things in totality. The physical planes with their time and space qualities gave God, as well as all other souls, an opportunity to experience a single moment of anything. When we look at a blooming rose, we see the beauty of it in that single moment instead of experiencing all it ever was, all it is and all it will ever be.</p>
<p>What a gift. How excited souls were to first experience this wonderful gift. Souls found that incarnating on physical planes, also gave them a rare opportunity to isolate and engage their spiritual growth, learning and experience. It was never conceived by our creator that our free will, so generously given, would extend to harming or hurting one another. In God, there is no consciousness of sin. There is only perfection. We are all here to experience who we really are in this world. Who we really are is God in form.</p>
<p>Soon souls got lost in the wheel of Karma, and forgot who they were, lifetime after lifetime of paying debts. Yet man was never supposed to experience physical life detached from their source. God did give us free will, but God never sent souls to the physical plane without a lifeline. We are always connected to God, The Source, even though we may lose awareness of that connection. Being more connected to God means being more aware. Gaining awareness is the path of spirituality and life progress.</p>
<p>Just as a baby is first connected to and nourished by his mother through the umbilical, each soul is connected to their creator through a similar energy cord, which raises the Kundalini, and can be just as nourishing. Kundalini is your life-blood connection to the creation of your physical experience. Without it, you wander through physical reality a victim, instead of a creator of your own destiny. You create your reality with the power of Kundalini. It is the Source Energy from which all things flow and consist.</p>
<p>The fact that sex is such an electrical surge of energy, both inwardly and outwardly, should be of some note. How could anyone not realize that all the energy expelled during sex actually had another purpose other than release? You can use sexual energy to create magic in your life. Kundalini is sexual energy. It is the driving force of all life and achievement. It is what motivates us to be, do and have anything we desire. All successful people have their sexual energy channeled in some way towards goals.</p>
<p>Electrical magnetism, and that which creates physical attraction, is the pull of your Kundalini Energy. How sad is it that many people on the planet spend their entire sexual experiences, and their lives, without ever raising their Chi, or without ever touching the divine. People with a desire for life are the ones that thrive and have a future. Those who lose their sexual drive are the ones that lose further grip on life and all that it contains. The key to living life to the fullest and attaining your dreams and desires is to enjoy living and doing what you love. Life attracts more life.</p>
<p>When you learn to raise this energy with a sex partner, it takes it to a whole new level, and can be a very powerful manifesting tool, by attaching a thought to the energy just before its release, or just before you orgasm. The Druids called this Sex Magic, and it can be very powerful, especially if you and your partner attach the same thought. Your thoughts have power to manifest when they are clothed with emotion. Kundalini, sexual energy, desire and life force are one. Use this  along with intent.</p>
<p>It is also possible to raise it through meditation, without a partner and without sex. When the pathways along your spine are clear and the Kundalini can move through your body, without being blocked, health quickly follows. To do this, you need to remove emotional blockages that prevent the energy from flowing freely through you. Every blockage in each of the centers prevent energy from flowing freely to the other centers. The aim is to create space. Space is the primary requisite for building power.</p>
<p>In addition, when you raise the Kundalini, you connect both with your soul, your creator and your soul mate. This energy heals the connections with each of the above, and brings a joining of all of these parts of you. There is no better way to bring a soul mate into your life! Also, if you can raise your Kundalini, you most likely will be broadcasting it on a subconscious level, and find you suddenly become very much in demand with the others. This is the pull of Kundalini energy. It is attraction energy.<br />
