Living in a small town has it's advantages. There is this great burger place called Crabby Bill's Burger & Fries. I have got to know the owner quite well and I asked him to save the bottle caps for me. He serves a lot of craft beers with some neat pictures on them. Please note I am not a beer drinker so having friends that serve a lot of beer is great.

Earrings Made from 4 beers~

Bracelet made from 12 Beers~

Necklace made from 2 Beers~

I know everyone has seen the others online and have wondered how they were made. Many complained it took to much time, or that it left garbage laying around for a week. During the big recycling movement I was in school, and they really pushed the concept on Children so we would take it home to our parents and try to teach them a thing or two. Parents don't always like to listen or learn educational subjects from their children.

It was a struggle in my house and I often wondered if it was like that in many homes or were my parents just thick headed. All the pamphlets and paperwork that was handed to us for our parents to read would hit the trash without even being looked at. It took some time, but they did catch on and start to recycle on a regular basis.

Recycled art projects was one of my favorites things to do. I can remember my 1st recycled project was made out of a school sized milk carton. I made it into a rabbit by gluing cotton balls on it and than adding the ears, eyes and nose by using recycled paper. If I made 1 I must have made 100. I even won 1st place for designing a poster for the school for advertising recycling.

As I got older things never changed. My 1st apartment was cute & cosy, however I could not afford curtains so I made them from bedsheets and blankets. They were so cute, everyone was surprised after I told them what they were. Being Creative like that just comes to be. I am still at recycling trash into treasures, however now I own a store where I can sell my treasures.

This past week I was really craving Starburts, so off to the store we went and ended up with a bag of Starburst and Tootie Rolls. On the way home I was thinking back to a time when I used gum wrappers in the 90's and made a bracelet. After we got home I instructed the family that they could eat the sweet nuggets of sugar, but they had to remove the wrappers carefully.. It wasn't to long and I was weaving the trash into a chain. I had made a bracelet and earrings while watching T.V.

My 12 year old daughter thought that was the neatest thing. Needless to say the bracelet and earring walked right out of the living-room. She wore them to school and the children were raving about the set asking her where got them. I can see a new trend arising.

A few nights later I had enough to Toostie Rolls to start another chain. Before I knew it I had a bracelet.

Looks like I am on to something, but know I need wrappers. If you have saved candy wrappers you can bring them to our store at 1609 Washington St. Two Rivers,WI. I will gladly take them.

Last year while we were still a home business she made herself a Santa Hoodie and wore it as a jacket. She did get a lot of complements about it. After stuffing in the closet for the summer months she pulled it out in November and wore it around town. There were many asking it where she got it, well to the sewing machine she went. She has made several Santa Hoodies this year and have even made some with chenille, But the popular choice is the plush fur.

Her love for creative sewing has put her in the mood to create other Fun Hoodies. She was crown Homecoming Queen than had to return the crown to the school. I am a real softy at heart and felt bad. This poor child was given a title and wasn't able to keep the crown as a keepsake. I can understand will all the budget cuts that have taken place, but I felt it was important for this young woman to have a keepsake for this once in a life time event. We bought the crown and felt I needed to go one step further and make a velvet pillow for the crown to sit on plus I embroidered it in school colors. It's the little things you do in life that makes a difference.

It was described as a lion playing piano and looking over his shoulder. I have seen many kingsbury logos, but I never recalled seeing one of this nature. I have a sharp photographic memory and didn't recall such a logo. The customer purchased other vintage beer items that I carry, and i told him I would be on the look out for such a logo. This past weekend low and behold the same customer came back in with a napkin of the very logo he was looking for.

This was one side of the napkin

This was the back side of the napkin, On the inside it was printed 1961. This napkin is 14 years older than me. The customer wanted t shirts with these images on. So I worked my graphic magic and artistic talent and poof!

Needless to say the customer was very happy. Remember the 80's Hypercolor shirts.. Well They are back.. These are not made by hypercolor, but they work the same way. Heat sensitive. In days past you could find them with screen printed images on. Screen printing is great, but with our printing styles you end up with an awesome effect. The ink absorbs your body heat and puts an outline around the image that is printed on the shirt. Please I have posted pictures of a shirt with old time ships printed on it. You will see it gives the shirts a Ghost like appearance. We have 3 colors in stock and ready to ship.

*Lilac to pink/yellow

*Green to gold For all the packer fans

*Blue to White

You can purchase yours at http://bdembroidery.com/Store/Trendy%20clothes/T1.html

want something printed on it? It is a matter of weeks before the doors open.
David and I have been building This business from the ground up. It Started in 2001. Wow it seems like yesterday we decided to buy an industrial embroidery machine and start a business. That was just the start of the ball rolling. We had always kept our business in "HOME" so I could be the stay at home Mom. In Today's world it is so important to be as close as you can to your children. Well my baby is 11 and now it's time to leave the nest.

David and I have always talked about opening a Brick and mortar business. We would day dream about what kind of shop and atmosphere we would incorporate into our business. The typical Embroidery & Screen printing shops tend to be cookie cutter shops. Stuffy, dry, and many times messy and full of clutter. Kind of a uncomfortable place to be.

Common complaints of these cookie cutter shops are:

*The Time it takes to have something made

*They changed my original artwork
Ex. I wanted a lot of colors and was told it had to be dummed down to 4 colors

*I only want to order a few, but I was told I have to order more than a dozen

*I was hit with a very expensive artwork, set up and screen fee.

*I wanted to make a change to the artwork before it was printed and I was charged with another adjustment artwork fee.

* I had an image embroidered and wanted to change the color of thread and was charged a fee to do so.

These are some of the complaints we have heard from our customers. We knew we weren't going down this path! Why?...Because we were there once before. I was a customer of custom apparel shops before starting ours.

Lets break down the complaints above.

*Time it takes to get a garment:
We keep some shirts in stock , if there is an item you want that I don't have in stock. I can order the item and in most cases will have it in 24 hours. There are certain items that take longer like varsity jackets as they are made to order in Michigan. It takes about a week to get them. For printing or embroidery. That is about 24 hours. Please note in many cases when the item are in stock you can watch the item get made or Hang out on the couch and watch some T.V. or read a magazine, have a cup of coffee on us at Red Bank Coffee, and walk out with you item. We have even thought about bringing a nintendo Wii into the shop for our customers to use while we are producing their item.

Artwork:
I work with adobe and corel in many formats. You can use gradient colors in your image. If you designed an image even with the use of a photograph you can bring your artwork in on a jump drive or disk and we will print that image while you wait if your size is in stock.

If you have a rough sketch of artwork I will work with you do develop what your envisioning. There is no fee for this. All that is asked is for a deposit for your purchase. You can save your artwork and come back another day to work on it when you have time. Or I will finish it for free.

* I only want a few, but was told I would have to order a dozen or more
The minimum is 1 item. Your artwork will be saved for 1 year you can email, call or text a message to reorder any time. In most cases it will be ready when you get there.

* Fees , screen fee, artwork, set up, thread color change fees:
There are no hidden fees,I am not going to charge you to change the color of thread on the embroidery machine. It takes less than a minute to do. There is no artwork or set up fees.

When people ask what kind of custom apparel shop are you opening. I like to compare it to Build a bear, but in an apparel since.

We are really excited to bring this technology to Two Rivers Wisconsin. We are counting down the days till we open!

We I got all worked up and nearly shed a tear as there was small damage in areas from updating the electrical lighting within the building...

So as I husband and I stared at the ceiling we both knew that we wanted to restore the ceiling.. but we were silent not saying a word about fixing it, as we continued to remove the false ceiling tiles.. I didn't want to beg him to fix and repaint the ceiling.. so I waited until he said something about reworking the ceiling.. We know each other so well, it's crazy...

Well at the end of the day we knew it would delay our store opening...but bringing back the craftsman's ship of the ceiling is worth it. I know others are as well as the orders that we have been receiving tell so. Trucker Hats seem ever so popular again this year. We have printed 6 dozen in just the last 2 days.

On a brighter note... We have looked at a building in downtown T.R. Perfect location! great layout. I am hoping this will be the one for us. It's Time Two Rivers has an apparel place that does embroidery as well as Eco friendly printing.

We love our city and Lake Michigan. I refuse to use the chemicals that goes into cheap silk screen printing. I am sure most in this area are washing the chemicals down the drain. How sad is that.

10 years ago we did the typical screen printing with the silk screens. Remind you we were running our business in Home. We had two small children. I could not believe the chemicals that had to be used to prep, the screens never mind the clean up. The fumes were enough to make you sick. We set out for a more earth friendly and healthier way to print apparel for our customers, Today I am glad to say since 2003 we have been Eco friendly.
