HOW to ping a IP range or all ip in LAN/Vlan

Instead of manually pinging all IP addresses on your LAN you can use this nice command:

Open Command Prompt and type:

FOR /L %i IN (1,1,254) DO ping -n 1 192.168.0.%i FIND /i "Reply">>c:\ipaddresses.txt

The "-n 1" is for only 1 ping packet to be sent to each computer.

Change 192.168.0 to match you own Network ID.

This will ping all IP addresses on the 192.168.0.0 network segment and create a text file called IPADDRESSES.TXT in C:\, where it will list only the IP addresses that gave a reply.

You can also add a -a to the PING command to resolve all the responding IP addresses to HOST names, but doing so will cause the script to take a considerable time to finish:

FOR /L %i IN (1,1,254) DO ping -a -n 1 192.168.0.%i FIND /i "Reply">>c:\ipaddresses.txt

How to perform route summarization using BGP protocol?

Route summarization is the process of replacing a series of routes into a summary route with subnet mask. The main purpose of summarization is to decrease the uses of bandwidth and make the size of routing table smaller. For example if you are trying to advertise four routes 194.1.17.0/24, 194.1.18.0/24, 194.1.19.0/24 and 194.1.20.0/24 from router C to router B then the only summarized address as 194.1.16.0 255.255.248.0 will be advertised in the update packet.

Today tip will help you configure BGP route summarization between two different types of routing protocols. In this case, we will try to configure three different routers with routing protocols OSPF & RIP and then advertised one summary route from router C to router B using BGP Aggregate-address command.

Configuration to Enable OSPF & BGP on Router B

In global configuration Mode:

B (config) # router ospf 1

(Enable ospf protocol and 1 is Autonomous number)

B (config-router) # network 40.0.0.0 0.255.255.255 area 0

(Advertised router B Serial Network 40.0.0.0)

B (config-router) # network 210.100.20.0 0.0.0.255 area 0

(Advertised router B Ethernet Network 210.100.20.0)

B (config-router) #redistribute bgp 20 subnet metric 50

(Redistribute bgp into ospf)

Now configure BGP on router B

B(config)# router bgp 20

B (config-router) # neighbor 61.1.1.2 remote-as 10

B (config-router) #end

Now run show command to display the BGP updates.

B #show ip bgp

Now verify the summarized route in router B routing table, run the command

B #show ip route

Configuration to Enable RIP & BGP on Router C

In global configuration Mode:

C (config) # router rip

(Enable rip protocol)

C (config-router) # network 210.100.30.0

(Advertised router C Serial Network 210.100.30.0)

C(config)#ip route 40.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 61.1.1.1

(Create a static route to router A to complete routing table.)

Now create four static routes and then advertised in BGP.

C(config)# ip route 194.1.17.0 255.255.255.0 null 0

C(config)# ip route 194.1.18.0 255.255.255.0 null 0

C(config)# ip route 194.1.19.0 255.255.255.0 null 0

C(config)# ip route 194.1.20.0 255.255.255.0 null 0

Now configure BGP on router C

C(config)# router bgp 10

C (config-router) # neighbor 61.1.1.1 remote-as 20

C (config-router) # redistribute static

(Advertised static routes)

C (config-router) # aggregate-address 194.1.16.0 255.255.248.0 summary-only

(summary of four static routes)

C (config-router) #end

Now run show command to display the BGP updates.

C #show ip bgp

How to recover the lost or forgotten password of Cisco switches?

Today tip will help you to explain the password recovery methods for the Cisco layers 2 switches. You can use these steps also to recover the Cisco layers 3 switches (for example 3550 and 3750 series).
Follow the step-by-step procedures to recover the lost Cisco switches password:
First make sure, you have connected your PC to the console port of switch using any emulation software.
Now turn the power switch off and back on to recycle the power then release the mode button for few seconds after the LED above port 1 turns off.
Now your switch first prompt will look like this:
switch:

First run the flash_init command to initialize the flash.
switch: flash_init

After running the flash_init command, the following information will appear as under:

1. switch: flash_init
2. Initializing Flash...
3. flashfs[0]: 21 files, 2 directories
4. flashfs[0]: 0 orphaned files, 0 orphaned directories
5. flashfs[0]: Total bytes: 7741440
6. flashfs[0]: Bytes used: 4499456
7. flashfs[0]: Bytes available: 3241984
8. flashfs[0]: flashfs fsck took 7 seconds.
9. ...done initializing flash.
10. Boot Sector Filesystem (bs:) installed, fsid: 3
11. Parameter Block Filesystem (pb:) installed, fsid: 4
Now run the load_helper command to load any helper images.
switch: load_helper
Issue the dir flash: command to view configuration file name with detail.
switch: dir flash:
Now type the rename flash:config.text flash:config.old command to rename the previous configuration file.
switch: rename flash:config.text flash:config.text.old
Here run the boot command to restart the switch.
switch: boot
Now after booting process, type enable to enter enable mode at the switch prompt.
Switch> enable
Now again type the rename flash:config.old flash:config.text command to rename the previous configuration file.
Switch#rename flash:config.old flash:config.text
Here run the copy command to transfer the configuration file to running-config
Switch#copy flash:config.text system:running-config
Now go to global configuration mode and set the new password.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch (config)# enable secret password (type here new password)
At the end saves the running configuration to NVRAM.
Switch# write memory

Break or recover the router password

Turn the power switch off and back on to recycle the power.

Press the Break key or key sequence to put the router into ROM Monitor mode. The break key varies by computer or terminal software. The sequence might be CTRL-D, CTRL-Break or another combination.

At the > prompt, type 0 to record the current value of the configuration register normally 0x2102, or 0x102.

Configuration register = 0x2102 at last boot

Bit# Configuration register option settings:

15 Diagnostic mode disabled.

Type o/r 0x2142 to tell the router to boot from flash without loading the configuration in NVRAM at the next reload.

Type i to have the router reboot. The router ignores the configuration in NVRAM.

The router runs the setup dialog, Type no or press Ctrl-C to skip the initial setup Dialog.

Type enable ate the Router> prompt to go to privileged exec mode.

Copy the startup configuration to the running configuration by using the configure memory or copy startup-config running-config commands. Do not type configure terminal. If you use the configure terminal command, you overwrite the configuration stored in NVRAM.

View the configuration by typing write terminal or show running-config. View the configured line, vty and enable passwords. Any encrypted passwords need to be changed.

Enter the configuration mode by typing configure terminal. Change the line of enable passwords as necessary.

All interfaces are in a shutdown state. Issue the no shutdown command on every interface that is to be used.

Type config-register 0x2102 to return the router to normal operation at the next reloads.

Exit configuration mode by pressing Ctrl-Z

Save your changes by typing write memory or copy running-config startup-config.

Reload the router and verify the passwords.

The rankings were evaluated according to the website’s visitors feedback, to the profitability and relevancy to today’s market, and from the popularity of the certifications discussed on the site. First on the list is Cisco CCIE. The site provides also an indicative average salary for each certification, which however depends on many factors such as experience, work location, company etc. Let’s summarize the top ten certification list below:

1. Cisco CCIE: As one of the most difficult certifications to obtain, the CCIE is an excellent credential for a professional. The thriving networking field demands high skilled professionals and the CCIE is the top of the line. Average Salary $93,000.

2. CISA: The Certified Information Systems Auditor certification from ISACA association is also very popular and profitable. CISA professionals serve the company as Information Systems auditors dealing with security controls and business controls of Information Systems. Average Salary $115,000.

Explanation:

First let's see what was configured on interface S0/0/1:

But here raise a question…

The wildcard mask of access-list 115, which is 255.255.255.0, means that only host with ip addresses in the form of x.x.x.0 will be accepted. But we all know that x.x.x.0 is likely to be a network address so the answer A: “no host could connect to Router through s0/0/1” seems right…

But what will happen if we don’t use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0? For example we can use an ip address of 10.45.45.0 255.255.0.0, such a host with that ip address exists and we can connect to the router through that host. Now answer A seems incorrect!
