<description>	&lt;p&gt;AIM AND THE RADIO ACADEMY HOST JOINT EVENT: SPECIALIST MUSIC 2008 (12th June 2008,&lt;br /&gt;

AIM and The Radio Academy will join together to host Specialist Music 2008 �?? an&lt;br /&gt;
event which aims to foster a new understanding and improved relationship between the&lt;br /&gt;
radio and music industries, with particular focus on the field of specialist music.&lt;br /&gt;
If you�??re a label and want to increase your understanding of and contacts in&lt;br /&gt;
specialist music radio (i.e. the shows after 7pm and on specialist stations), this&lt;br /&gt;
event is not to be missed!&lt;br /&gt;
The event will be hosted by Radio 1�??s Huw Stephens, and will feature three main&lt;br /&gt;
sessions, as well as a keynote speaker (TBA).&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Session 1 �?? �??Inside Radio�??&lt;br /&gt;
The first session will look at the workings of specialist music radio, from what&lt;br /&gt;
goes on in production meetings, to how tracks are chosen for play, how the digital&lt;br /&gt;
age has affected this process and how you break your track on a show. Panelists&lt;br /&gt;
include Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Harmeet Chadha (BBC and Channel 4 radio), Paul&lt;br /&gt;
Thomas (BBC Radio 1) and others TBA.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Session 2: �??Inside Labels: Radio and the Promotional Mix�??&lt;br /&gt;
This session will look at how labels approach radio, from how and when labels put&lt;br /&gt;
together a promotional plan and how radio fits into this, to the impact of radio&lt;br /&gt;
support (or lack of) on a release and the role of the plugger. Panelists include:&lt;br /&gt;
Julie Weir (Visible Noise �?? Bullet for My Valentine, Lost Prophets), Janine Irons&lt;br /&gt;
(Dune Music �?? Soweto Kinch, Abram Wilson), Peter Quicke (Ninja Tune �?? Coldcut,&lt;br /&gt;
Cinematic Orchestra), Ben Beardsworth (XL Recordings �?? Vampire Weekend, Cajun Dance&lt;br /&gt;
Party) Richard Wootton (Richard Wootton Publicity �?? plugger) and moderator Chris&lt;br /&gt;
Parles (ACM).&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Session 3: �??Tomorrow�??s World�??&lt;br /&gt;
The final session will look at the future of specialist music radio and independent&lt;br /&gt;
music,. With the advent of technology that allows your customer to purchase tracks&lt;br /&gt;
as they are being broadcast, and with labels offering free ad-funded downloads, what&lt;br /&gt;
are the business models for specialist music going to be in the coming years? Where&lt;br /&gt;
does radio fit in? Panelists include:  Pascal Grierson (Cliq), Justin Spooner (BBC&lt;br /&gt;
Radio 3) and others TBA.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;WHEN: 12th June �?? 2-7.30pm&lt;br /&gt;

<description>	&lt;h3&gt;Open Studio Fridays&lt;/h3&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Love working at home but miss the opportunity for creative brainstorming and interesting conversations? Work in a studio/office but want a change of environment occasionally? Inspired by Jelly in New York(http://workatjelly.com), every week the Pervasive Media Studio opens its doors to anyone who fancies some casual co-working. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile) and provide the conversation.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Open Studio Fridays take place every week, starting on 2nd May, and is open to people of any discipline/sector. Doors open at 9.30 am and close at 5.00pm (usually with a trip to the bar).&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;h3&gt;The Pervasive Media Studio&lt;/h3&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;The Pervasive Media Studio, opened in February 2008, brings together the computing, communications and creative industries to research and develop new forms of digital media. The evolution of the internet with �?smart¹ devices will unlock media from computers, phones, TVs and cinema screens and make it more of an integral and portable part of our daily lives. &lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Designing the experiences and technology for a pervasive media environment will not only require a diverse set of skills and insights but also a collaborative
 approach to innovation.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;With collaboration across industry, research, teaching and community, the Studio is an initiative led by HP Labs and Watershed, with support from the South West Regional Development Agency. Built on the legacy of the Mobile Bristol programme, the Studio offers project development space, a wide variety of events and seminars and a creative learning programme for education and community groups.The Pervasive Media Studio is a unique undertaking which sites world-class research at the heart of the city.&lt;/p&gt;
