Wired Proves It: "The RIAA thinks that ripping CDs is illegal."

Remember that mess at the beginning of the year, when the Washington Post interpreted an RIAA legal brief as saying the agency's official position is that ripping CDs for personal use is illegal? Well the RIAA's president took to NPR to try to deny it, but Wired ain't buying -- and they have "two very clear pieces of evidence" to prove that the RIAA prez was lying. (via)

Does the phrase "Nobody Bodders Me" mean anything to you? Then you probably didn't have access to D.C.-area television growing up, and you definitely don't remember that crazy catchy commercial for Jhoon Rhee's Taekwondo. Don't worry, neither did we. But OK Go apparently did and now they're covering the tune live, allowing Thighs Wide Shut to come full circle on a story arc begun in 2004. It's a nice turn for TWS, and the most blogger attention OK Go's had since the treadmills bit. So, happy endings all around.

Write on your website "I can't understand why anyone likes these musical groups and singers: Wilco, Jeff Buckley, Elvis Costello, The Police, Slint, Rush, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Afghan Whigs. Perhaps you are offended by this. If so, I feel glad. You need to be shaken up. You need to have whatever skewed values you've cultivated over the years CHALLENGED. Listen again to this stuff - you will see that it is junk." The original post has since been deleted, demonstrating either a return to senses, or having sobered up. All jaws save Lily Allen's, which is quick to start flapping on about how the free download bit was "bad precedent," pooping on the party. She hasn't even delivered yet and already she sounds like my mom.
