Long semester of computer literacy and instructional media. Too much comp. literacy and not enough emphasis on instructional media or the actual application of the digital tool for the classroom. (with the rave and controversy surrounding Smartboards, I would have been nice to dedicate at least one class period to its notions) I am definatley more conscious of my digital footprint, (which grew exponentially due to this class). Overall I feel the C&I 306 experience should have been better, more depth of knowledge explored rather than, "on to the next digital tool". Assessment of assignments was too simple, my creativity was not evaluated, instructor was more concerned with just getting it done - checking to see if "we had made a blog post, not what the blog post stated". Another computer class finished! - and another disappointment.

Instructors should check out the functionality of Google Earth. Great for global awarness, geography and current events.

Google Docs Post

"Google Docs" is a highly functionable collabrative tool. I have used it in several classes hear at the U of M, and have not been let down. The system works in real time, providing fast and efficient collaboration of documents, presentations and the like. I will be using "Google Docs" in the future for the sake of time, stress, and functionality.

This Blog site has not been that useful of an ongoing tool for me. The account created an experience that was new to me, and therefore informative. There is quite the media buzz pertaining to "blogs" and "tweets", of which I have never come in contact with until this class introduced them to us. Good tool, could be helpful for collaboration, but not a primary technique I will use in the future.

Twitter is an efficient tool for current events. Users can identify which news they are interested in, (e.g. sports teams, politics, travel, etc.) Updates can be sent to cellular phone and email address. Posting on twitter seems pointless with all the other digital communicators available

My new wiki page at www.wikispaces.com seems to serve its purpose. Collaboration was almost instantaneous, wikis could be a useful tool for group projects and class discussion.
