Cupcakes for Pixar's 25th Anniversary!!!

noreply@blogger.com (Barb B Sweet) — Mon, 22 Aug 2011 17:08:00 +0000

What a weekend! We were lucky enough to be asked by Disney to make 4,500 cupcakes for Pixar's 25th Anniversary celebration at the D23 Expo this past Saturday! We had a blast!

This has been in the works for a few weeks. Disney came to B Sweet to taste, help design, and plan on how to distribute these 4,500 cupcakes. Ready with a plan we got to work!

To insure freshness, we started baking the cupcakes a day and a half before the event. Then we frosted, decorated and individually packaged each one THE NIGHT BEFORE the event! We had family and friends come to our kitchen to help get it all done. We worked through the night, loaded up the cupcakes and went straight to the Anaheim Convention Center.

We met up with our Disney team at the convention center and distributed the cupcakes into boxes for each row. Once all 60 servers arrived, we gathered at the Arena for rehersal. The third time was a charm.

So after some waiting around and hearing roars from the arena... it was time. We were called into our places and waited for the cue to quietly enter the Arena. The anticipation was killing us, but we finally got the call. We had a total of 80 servers (Thanks to 20 more Disney volunteers) posted around the Arena waiting for those magical words from John Lasseter:
"Cupcakes for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!"

The confetti cannons blast and Randy Newman's song "You've got a friend in me" played through the speakers. The 80 servers converge on the 4500 Disney guests. Each person was handed a special edition B Sweet cupcake. Then as quickly as it started, it was done. We had delivered 4500 cupcakes to 4500 fans in 3 minutes!
It was so much fun!!!

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank Laura-Lee, Lylle, Rick, John, Carolyne, Meaghan, Annie, Tara, Justin and the rest of the Disney crew for all of their help and support. To my amazing staff along with my family and friends, thank you to all of you for the long hours you put in and your personal dedication to B Sweet, We made the "Oprah Moment" happen PERFECTLY.

Thank you to everyone who posted pictures, tweeted or blogged about this amazing event. It was all for you!
Keep checking back for more big things happening for B Sweet!

With love,
B Sweet Barb
