The book is a limited edition (all copies have been numbered, mine is 2671) in exclusive protective wooden case. This edition is 70th anniversary edition and because of that has been published in very good quality (even better than his equivalent in English) with Tolkien illustrations. Text and Christopher Tolkien preface are dated in copyrights on 2007 year. I think this is a only Tolkien book published in wooden box.

First Printing Collector's Edition

When this edition was first produced, an error was made in the runes.  If you know the value of the letters, you can read the following on the cover starting at the lower left-hand corner: THE HOBBIT OR THERE AND BACK AGAIN BEING THE RECORD OF A YEARS JOURNEY OF BILBO BAGGINS COMPILED FROM HIS MEMOIRS.  The word COMPILED wraps around the bottom right corner.  In very early copies such as the one here, the runes say CAMPILED instead of COMPILED.  This is an understandable error since the rune for A is very similar to the one for O.  Picture below which shows the error.
