I am not a big doll person--That is I wasn't until I was introduced to avant-doll maker Andrew Yang and his collection of fabulous "rag dolls" called Kouklitas. These custom, couture dolls (a riff on koukla, the Greek word for doll), run $800 and upwards, but are divinely weird and wonderful. I stumbled upon these on Hunger Pipi Langeweile, but they are being made right here in New York CIty.Here are a few of my faves. . .

I had just read in Mommy Poppins about a birthday party where the host let kids test their mad art skills all over their white washed apartment. If you can't find a kids' family willing to do that, the wall sticker dot-ified room a la polka dot loving artist Yayoi Kusama might be a solution.
