Got to visit CANstruction yesterday night at the WFC -- it was pretty impressive--a host of large scale sculptures created out of canned goods, from SPAM to tunafish to Goya beans. Constructed by design teams, the exhibit raises interest and money for fighting hunger.At the end of the exhibit, all cans will be donated to community food banks. I think Babesta should do one! It doesn't look easy but it sure looks fun! www.canstruction.org

We're putting together a little Mardi Gras maskmaking, free "xtreme playdate" on Feb 12, so mark your calendars! Got to do a bit of looking around for great ingredients today in the fashion district with Alexandra Egan, master fashion prop stylist. We are super excited to just get Mini Rodini's spring/summer 13 collection in-store. We saw it first this past summer, when in Stockholm on a vacay and couldn't get enough of the tassels, bows, animal prints, palm trees & parrots. Here's a little sampling of our first delivery!

I've spent the last couple days hot footing it around NYIGF, checking out the latest & greatest from a lot of our favorite brands. I spent most of my time in Design & Baby and Child but was happy to catch a couple great finds from a section dubbed NY Newest.

Although our racks are almost bare, we still have some great stuff in each size left from Fall on sale! We are getting ready for spring of course, but boy the weather's not. Snap up some 'warm things' that will hold you over until the sun is shining toasty & bright. Some puffers, mittens, hats, hoodies & sweaters in sizes 0-12.
We had a great time crafting for the window this week. We made some pretty nifty hanging geometric "lanterns" out of neon colored plastic straws and ribbons. They give a little dimention to our window and give our little Uglydoll models a super cool environment. We were inspired on Pinterest (go figure!)
We think that these would also make for a great, simple party decoration! Hang them over the birthday table!
First gather your materials! You'll need ample amounts of neon straws, curling ribbon, scissors and fishing wire to hang.
Cut the straws in half and then take 3 halves. Feed the curling ribbon through the staraws.
Tie the string with the three straw halves to form a triangle and tie it off.
Now take 3 of your triangles and lay them flat. Tie them into one big triangle.
With your one remaining triangle, tie it to the top of your large triangle so it should look like this.
Next bend the 4th traingle at the top down and tie it to the bottom triangle on the left bottom side. At this point it should look like this.
Now all that is left is to tie off those two triangles at the bottom with string and you should end up with a 3D diamond.
and Voila!
Now it's time to hang them with the fishing string!
