Shopping for a diaper bag can be nerve racking, considering all the options out there to choose from. Diaper bags can range in all sizes, styles and price. When looking for a diaper the first thing you will look at is the outside, because that is what we are all drawn to is the appearance. The Outside of the diaper bag is very important, you will want to pick a bag that is very durable, because remember you will be carrying this bag around for at least the next year or more. I recommend a bag that is easily cared for, make sure the bag can be washed. The next thing to remember when looking for a diaper bag is the size, now there are some of us that like to carry everything but the kitchen sink with us and then their are those of us who can keep it simple. Base the size of you bag on your own personal preference. Check our website for a list of items that you will need in your diaper bag, this will help ensure that you won’t forget something. If your child will be in childcare, then a larger bag may suit you for those longer days away from home. Also look for bags with plenty of storage compartments, this will help you keep your bag organized and neat. Also another plus is a changing pad that is either attached or inserted into the bag, this will come in handy while out and about shopping or traveling. Those changing table that are available in most public bathrooms are not the most sanitary. Also if want to only carry the diaper bag and not a purse also, look for a bag that has a compartment for your items as well. Diaper bags have come a long ways, with design and styles so shop around look for the one that suits your needs and your baby needs.

Chances are, at some point while your infant is still in diapers, you will be faced with diaper rash. Diaper rash is an unpleasant condition for both the baby and the parent, but with a little bit of information, you can be ready and you can take care of this problem with surprising ease. For the most part, diaper rash is a fairly straightforward condition, and you will be able to take care of quite quickly.

The first step is in recognizing when your baby has it. You may notice it if your baby is being particularly fussy or irritable, and upon closer inspection, you’ll see that there is a mild redness or scaliness wherever the diaper touches the baby. If the diaper rash is particularly bad, you’ll notice that the rash can include blisters or pimples, and if the rash becomes infected, you will see that the skin can become quite bright red and swollen. If it gets bad, the rash can spread to areas outside the diaper as well.

Typically, these rashes are caused by skin irritation, like when the diaper rubs too harshly against the skin, or is too tight. You might find that your baby is prone to diaper rash if the diaper is left on too long. If you use cloth diapers, be aware that the soap you use should be fairly gentle. In general, diaper rash can be caused by anything that holds heat and dampness too close to the skin and can make infections much easier to start.

If you have noticed a diaper rash, you’ll find that a change of habits is often all that is needed to make it go away. Don’t use powders like talcum powder and cornstarch; all you need to do is bathe the area gently and then allow it to dry thoroughly. If the rash is particularly bad, you might be given a prescription for a good cream. You’ll also find that an antifungal cream can be used to treat bad cases of a yeast infection, which can also develop from diaper rash.

The best way to prevent diaper rash is to keep your baby’s diaper area clean and dry. Whenever possible, let your baby go without a diaper. You’ll find that this is a great way to both relieve the effects of diaper rash and to prevent it from recurring. Remember that if the rash ever spreads to other areas, or if it lasts longer than a week, you should call your doctor. If your baby has a fever as well, it might also be time for a doctor visit.

You’ll find that diaper rash is actually quite straightforward, so get some information and start taking care of it today!

These cakes are a wonderful gift to receive when your expecting a little one. A diaper cake can be filled with great items that every mother-to-be will use or need . Whether you buy a diaper cake that is already decorated with items or you decorate one yourself, it will be the most unique gift at the baby shower. A diaper cake requires no wrapping paper, because the cake is the package, which will save you time and money. Diaper Cakes can be made with cloth or disposable diapers and a lot of people think that the cloth diapers would never get put to use, that is so not true. Cloth diapers come in handy for a lot of different tasks. Cloth diapers can be used for burp cloths, changing pads, made into bibs or just to have around to clean up those little messes. The disposable diaper, well everyone knows that they will get put to use. The cloth diapers would be more environmentally friendly and these days everyone is going green. The decoration on the cake are always cute and very useful. Diaper cakes can be decorated with everything from stuff animals, baby bottles, rattles, baby spoons and lots more. You also can go with a theme, have one made to match their babies room or create a feeding cake decorated with items she will need to feed her new baby. Diaper cakes are a great new idea in giving something a little different, something everyone that is expecting will want.

The day’s of leaving the house with just your purse or wallet are over. With expecting or already having your little bundle of joy, adds the need to carry more items than before. But with the right organization and planning you can avoid the overstuffed diaper bag. When packing your diaper bag you should pack according to the activities or outing planned for the day or trip. Diaper bags come in all sizes and styles, you are sure to find a diaper bag too suit your needs. Diaper bags today are made with everyone in mind from the working mom to the on the go mom. I recommend buying 2 sizes, one for just everyday outings and one for long trips. Below I have made a diaper bag supplies checklist, this will help you get your bag ready for almost any situation that may arise during an outing with the children, and believe me a mother of 2 they will arise.

Of course you will add to your diaper bag and take things out as your child grows. But I hope this checklist will help you get started on packing your diaper bag.

Diaper Bag Supplies Checklist
Diapers
Changing Pad
Baby Wipes
Sm. Tube Diaper Rash
Plastic Zipper Baggies
Change of Cloths
Antibacterial Gel or Wipes
Burp Cloths
Fever Reliever (Medicines)
Blanket
Sm. Toys
Feeding Supplies ( these supplies will vary according to age of child)
Bib
Insulated Case or Sm. Ice pack
Sun Block

Diapers
You will need at least 4 diapers per child, but pack according to the ages and the length of the trip. For young babies you should pack at least 1 diaper per hour and add a few more for those emergencies. You can also calculate how many diapers you will need by keeping track of how many times you change your child a day, this will help you when packing for a long trip.

For those of us who have children that are potty training or newly potty trained, be sure to bring extra pants and training pants for those little accidents.

Changing Pad
This is a very important item, because you never know when you will have to change your baby or child. The department stores usually have baby changing station available to you in the restrooms, but they are usually not kept very clean and have a very hard surface and that’s when the changing pad will come in very handing. Also there will be times when there won’t be a changing station available. Some diaper bags will come with a changing pad attached or inserted inside the bag, which is a great feature to have in your diaper bag.

Baby Wipes
Wipes are the greatest invention, not only do they clean little bottoms, but are great for other uses as well. I suggest carry a lot of these, you can use them to wipe off messy hands, faces and runny noses. Just make sure you store them in a air tight container to retain the moisture.

Diaper Rash Creme
This will come in handy in case you child breaks out with one unsuspectingly or if your child will be sitting for a long while. You can usually find a small tube or get samples from your pediatrician.

Plastic Zipper Bags
Another great invention, you can use these to dispose of soiled diapers or place soiled cloths in. You also can store your child’s change of cloths, treats or medicines. They are great help in organizing your diaper bag.

Change of Cloths
Place a change of cloths for both you and the baby in zipper plastic bag. This will come in handy for those messy days. I usually packed a shirt for myself for those unexpected spit ups or spills. Also you can pack a hat for the baby according to seasons. By placing the change of clothes in a plastic bag you will keep the item together and protect them from any leaking items.

Antibacterial Gel or Wipes
Great for wiping of the handle shopping carts and cleaning hands big and small.

Burp Cloths
I suggest using cloth diapers as a burp cloths, they are very absorbent and easy to clean. I suggest carrying at least 2, you can use one for cleaning spills in the car. You can buy them at most department stores or on line in packs of 10 or more. If you want some with designs, which you can find online, they two are very inexpensive.

Fever Reducer (Medicines)
Comes in handy if your child is teething, doctor visit (shots) or suddenly has a fever. Also be sure to carry any other medicines your child may be taking at the time.

Blanket
For those unexpected weather changes or to replace a blanket that is forgotten, lost or dirty.

Sm. Toys
I suggest packing rattles, teething rings, taggy blanket or Sm. Books.

Feeding Supplies
This will vary according to your children ages. Bottles for the babies and sippy cups for toddlers. For older children I suggest small bottles of water or juice boxes. Always pack feeding spoons, jar of baby food and bibs for older babies. Also pack age appropriate snacks.

Bib
Carry extras of these, to change out messy bibs for a clean bib, especially after feedings or if your child is teething.

Insulated case or Small Ice Pack
Great to keep formula, breast milk (which is a must),milk, juice or water cool. You can find insulated cases that are especially made for bottles and such. Some diaper bags will come with a insulated case which is a great feature in a diaper bag.
